 PDHPE stands for Personal Development heath and physical
education It involves theory and practical work.
 It is a subject studied in primary and high school which allows
children to experience active lifestyle.
 It involved the children having fun while learning different skills
and development and the importance of being physically active.
 PDHPE involves the community around children such as the
parents, teachers, carers , family and friends.
 PDHPE is one of the six learning areas in the NSW primary
curriculum.

PDHPE encourages
children to make
informed decisions
based on health and
physical activity and to

, understanding growth

PDHPE promotes physical
activities to encourage
children involving the
students to be
physical, social, emotional

Students will be able to
participate in physical
activities through creative
play, dance, gymnastic and
minor game. They will
develop movements and
control.
It teaches them the importance of
adopting a strong responsible and
productive role within society and
the wider community.
PDHPE offers children with
a greater understanding of
how to lead an active and
fulfilling lifestyle.
• The elements within PDHPE that the children
will achieve are communication skills with
other children, ,making new friends , able to
make decisions when playing a game or
healthy foods, interacting, moving while
dancing or gym and problem solving using
mind maps.

students

erstanding ,and
practical skills
that lead a
better health.
 Parents can promote healthy facilities within the
environment to support the growth and development of the
children.
• Parents should understand the physical
norms that children go through creating
positive alternative to promote PDHPE.
• Parents should participate in school sporting events by
encourage and praising their child to contribute in
activities it encourages a positive out look on personal
development health and physical education.
Over the last 25 years, rates
of obesity have risen in many
countries around the
world, including Australia.
Research indicates that
many children do not meet
basic healthy eating
recommendations.
The survey found
that nearly three
out of 10 (28.9%)
children were
overweight or
obese
• Obese children and adolescents suffer from an increased range of
medical conditions. For example, the rate of Type 2 diabetes is
increasing in children and adolescents. Other problems include sleep
disturbances, heat intolerance, breathlessness when active, tiredness
and flat feet. Obese children, particularly older girls, also tend to have
lower self esteem.
