About PDH
 Personal Development & Health is vital to
young children.
 The importance of Health and Nutrition to
young children needs to be discussed to
create a responsible way of life
 Incorporates encouragement to value them
selves and their loved ones in the community.
About PE
 Physical Education is incorporated into the K-6
syllabus, to develop a positive attitude towards
physical education and create lifelong habits of
participation.
 Teaching students about adequate physical
activity to ensure a healthy lifestyle.
 Building on gross motor skills, and
encouraging decision making, team work and
game sense.
Statistics
 In 2007-08, one quarter of
Australian children (or around
600,000 children aged 5-17 years)
were overweight or obese.
 Children who know and understand
nutrition are more likely to
participate in physical activity.
