The leading causes of obesity in children are unhealthy food choices, lack of physical activity, and family eating habits. Overweight issues can cause health and social problems for children. Personal development, health and physical education (PDHPE) promotes physical activity, teaches students to value themselves and others, and encourages healthy lifestyle choices through decision making, safety awareness, and understanding the environment. Educating students on these issues through PDHPE can help ensure children grow up with the knowledge and values to lead healthy, active lives.
