This unit plan is for a 4th grade West Virginia history class consisting of 24 students from various backgrounds. Over the course of two weeks, students will learn about important dates, people, places, and symbols of West Virginia through various interactive activities including videos, songs, games and a final project. Each day will focus on a different topic area such as the state's beginnings, famous residents, current officials, symbols and landmarks. Technology like the smartboard, computer and poster boards will be used alongside hands-on materials. The goal is for students to describe what they learned with 100% accuracy.
