Unit Plan PowerPoint

Analyzing the Learner
Who?- 3rd grade, 15 students (8 girls, 7 girls), 7 Caucasian, 5
African American, 3 Latino. 2 students identify with ADHD and 1
with Autism.
Learning Compentencies: Students will have obtain an
understanding of the 13 original Colonies of the United States.
Learning Styles: Students will watch videos and label maps of
the 13 original Colonies.
Objective
Students will have an understanding for the 13 original Colonies,
what they came from, and why they are important to out
country. This will be done with videos, readings, map labeling,
games, and a final presentation of each colony by the end of the
week. They will have a week to have a full understanding and
they will know this with 100% accuracy.
Day by Day Schedule
Day 1: Introduce the 13 Original Colonies. Read a book about
them. Explain what each colony gave to the united states.
Day 2: Watch a video on the colonies.
Day 3: Label a map of the United States and color and label the
colonies.
Day 4:Play a trivia game about each colony and what each
colony produced.
Day 5: Break into groups and start making a presentation posters
on a colony. Present them to the class.
Use Of Technology
I will use the smartboard to project my video for the class to
see.
I will provide construction paper and coloring tools for the
students to make their presentation posters.
I will use the projection screen to emphasize on certain things in
the book if need be.
