This document discusses a "femur first" technique for total hip arthroplasty (THA) where the femoral component is implanted first before positioning the acetabular cup. The technique aims to position the cup within the "safe zone" to avoid impingement and edge loading. It is described as easy to perform and does not increase surgery time. Positioning the cup in the middle of the safe zone provides the largest range of motion without edge loading or impingement effects.
