Adobe Captivate is an authoring tool that allows teachers to create software tutorials, simulations, branched scenarios, and randomized quizzes in .swf format. A survey was conducted among IT teachers at SQU to determine the extent to which they use Captivate for producing online lessons, courses, and workshops. The results found both advantages like helping students develop tutorials and easing content creation, as well as disadvantages such as technical errors and issues importing flash files.

Overview Adobe Captivate is an electronic authoring tool for Microsoft Windows, which can be used to author software demonstrations, software simulations, branched scenarios, and randomized quizzes in.swf format. It can also convert Adobe Captivate generated .swf to .avi which can be uploaded to video hosting websites. For software simulations, Captivate can use left mouse clicks, key presses and rollover images.Overview It can also be used for podcasts, and the conversion of Microsoft PowerPoint presentations to the Adobe Flash format.
