2. Three Favorite Assignments
• Service Learning Project: I enjoyed this assignment because I enjoy helping
people I also love to shop at thrift stores. Volunteering at The Blessing Box
was a “win-win” for me!
• Chapter 2 Accepting Personal Responsibility: Developing a Creator versus
Victim Mindset information was very helpful. The information on
responsibility and culture opened my eyes to how other cultures think.
The self-talk using inner critic, inner defender, and inner guide made me
dig deep and analyze situations better.
• Chapter 7 Adopting Lifelong Learning: The information on growth
mindsets and fixed mindsets was also very helpful. I had never thought of
the brain as a muscle, the more you use your brain, the smarter you
become. We all need to become active learners.
3. Three Favorite Journals
• Journal Entry 11: It was very helpful for me to keep to keep on track
with my courses when I visualized myself as a teacher. I could see
myself happy. I knew all the hard work would be worth it.
• Journal Entry 13: It was eye opening to see what quadrants I was
spending my time in. I have used the information to focus more on
Quadrant II activities. I have also had to say no to some activities to
help me remain mainly in Quadrant II.
• Journal Entry 17: The creation of a support system was very helpful. I
have been using OPS (Other People’s Brains) to achieve my goals.
Employing Interdependence has made my life so much easier. What a
relief to realize I don’t have to do everything myself!
4. Favorite Week
I actually had two favorite weeks. Week 2 and week 3 both covered
Metacognition. I have found myself using the phrase “think about what
you are thinking about” numerous times. I have actually put this to
practice by questioning why I think the way I think about things.
5. Three Lessons I Will Carry Into The Next
Semesters:
• Metacognition, “think about what I am thinking about.”
• Operating mainly in Quadrant II.
• Find out what my instructor expects me to know for the tests.
7. Future Career
• I was unable to use Purple Briefcase. I used My Next Move to gather
information about a teaching career.
• One thing I did not realize about teaching is to have knowledge about
religion. That makes sense because you need to have a general
knowledge of beliefs.
• I had not thought about the need to understanding people’s
reactions was a needed skill, but you did know when a child is upset
or not understanding the material.
• You need to do two or more things at the same time.
• You must listen and understand what people say.
