5. CONCEPT OF POPULATION EXPLOTION
• Growth rate = Birth rate – Death rate + Total migration
i.e., Growth rate = Birth rate – Death rate + Immigration – Emigration
• When growth is zero then there is no increase in population.
• If growth rate is 0.00 to 1.00 then it is gentle
• If the growth rate is 1.00 to 1.5 then it is fast.
• If the growth rate is 1.50 to 2.00 then it is described as very rapid.
• If the growth rate is more than 2.00 then it is exploding.

19. SUMMARY:
One of the major problems which is rapidly increasing population. Population is the amount of people in certain area.
Growth rate was calculated by using death rate, birth rate and immigration
i.e.,
Growth rate = Death rate – Birth rate + immigration.
Over population will lead to child labour, environment degradation, lack of energy resources, agriculture may decrease,
lack of foods and unemployment.
Causes of over population is poverty poor contraceptive use, child labour, immigration, reduced mortality rate, early
marriage, large family concept and high fertility rates.
To create an awareness about the over population, education plays an important role. Hence population education was
implemented.
The meaning of population education is, “An exploration of knowledge and attitudes about population the family and
sex. Were this includes populate awareness, family living, reproduction education and basic values”.
According to Gopal Rao, “ population education an educational programme which provides for a study of the population
phenomenon so as to enable the student to make rational decisions towards problems arising of rapid population
growth”.
Population education programme was launched by ministry of education with effect form April 1980. The central sector
of ministry of education and UNFPA collaboratively framed this.

Greater use of motivations media, particularly in rural areas, for increasing acceptance of
family planning.
Increasing in the age of marriage from 15 to 18 years for girls and from 18 to 21 years for
boys.
An immediate target of meeting needs for contraception, healthcare, infrastructure, staff and
service to improve reproductive health.
