DEFINITION OF PROJECT PLAN
INTRODUCTION
BODY
CONCLUSION
WHAT, WHY, HOW,WHEN, WHO, WHERE PROJECT PLAN???
Why do need project plan?
How uses project plan?
When is a project plan used?
Who use the project plan?
What makes up a project plan?
Where does it come from?
How does architecture play into the
project.
WHAT IS PROJECT PLANNING?
Project planning is a step by step
guideline.
Project planning is a discipline for
stating how to complete a project
within a certain timeframe, usually
with defined stages, and with
designated resources.
WHY DO NEED PROJECT PLANING?
Improve communication with
Customer or clients
Increase the transparency of your
own work
more organized
Focus on the project goal
How uses project plan?
Guide the project’s through execution
and control.
Document assumptions of plan
Document planning decisions regarding
alternatives choices.
Communicate with stakeholder.
Management reviews like content,
extent and timing.
Advantages of project planning
Project plans are a good communication tool as well, especially
if you get other people to input into the plan and help you put it
together.
They focus the team on the object especially this can be a great
communication tool as it provides that big picture road map for
where you are taking the team and how you are going to get
there.
Track progress: This is the most obvious one. you can’t track
project progress unless you have something to track against. The
project plan serves as your road map to success.
Disadvantages of project planning
• Rigidity
 Planning has tendency to make administration inflexible.
 There is no scope for individual freedom.
 Planning therefore introduces inelasticity and discourages individual initiative and
experimentation.
• False sense of security
 Elaborate planning may create a false sense of security to the effect that everything is taken for
granted.
 Managers assume that as long as they work as per plans, it is satisfactory.
• Time consuming
 Planning is a time consuming process because it involves collection of information, it’s analysis
and interpretation thereof.
 This entire process takes a lot of time specially where there are a number of alternatives
available.
DISADVANTAGES OF PROJECT PLANNING
• Expensive
Collection, analysis and evaluation of different
information, facts and alternatives involves a lot of
expense in terms of time, effort and money.
• Probability in planning
Planning is based on forecasts which are mere
estimates about future.
These estimates may prove to be inexact due to the
uncertainty of future.
Any change in the anticipated situation may render
plans ineffective.
CONCLUSION
You should always gain knowledge of the project before you start the project
and finally Project Managers are rarely hands on! Managers need to manage,
minimize and control and if there is anything to do then do it!
Thank you
