Pitch evaluation done
- 1. Pitch evaluation: I thought that my pitch went reasonably well, as I clearly conveyed my ideas in an engaging but simplistic manner, by giving my client a handoutconsisting of my ideas for my films, and the accompanying scripts and storyboards. I initially went through my first(and strongest) idea “M.O.B- Money or Blood?” by giving a brief summary of the plot, then breaking it down into each act and exploring the traits of the two main characters, theyoung man and the mysterious man. I then went on to talk about casting, genre, target audience and marketplace, giving my client a good insight into the sortof film I had in mind. The draft scripts and storyboards further helped my client to understand the slightly tongue in cheek tone that I was going for with “M.O.B”, an action thriller that is by no means a parody but uses film cliché’s to humorous effectin the context of a sinister scenario. I then undertook a similar process for my second film “Traitor”, a classic Bourne-styleaction thriller in which a British secret agent must race to clear his name when he is framed for treason by a mole within MI6. I wenton to break the plot down into its 3 acts, go through the characters and their development, and explain where “Traitor” sits on the marketplace and whattarget audience it is aimed at. In terms of weaknesses, I think maybe being more passionateabout“Traitor” in particular would’ve helped the pitch, but in all fairness I wasn’tever keen on taking “Traitor” forward. To improvemy pitch, next time I might create a PowerPointwith images relating to my ideas, to backup what I’m saying, however I stillgot lots of positive feedback and was graded a merit so I don’t think it would makeall the difference, justadd a nice touch to the pitch. Overall I thoughtthe combination of the handouts and my concisebut detailed verbal explanation of my ideas worked well together, allowing me to pitch in a way that got lots of information across in an efficient, engaging manner. Following my client’s responseto my ideas, I’mgoing to take “M.O.B-Money or Blood?” forward as the film I will shoot and edit, which is what I’d always intended to do, as ultimately it is the stronger idea.
