Jack Craig Client Report:
I presented the Marketing Campaign for the game Hollywood Tower
Campaign and received the following feedback from the client.
1. Develop the characters on blog i.e. create a Twitter account for each
character where they can text messages to the audience.
2. Think about an older demographic target audience and how my game
would appeal to them e.gPoirot Fans, ITV 3 fans, Agatha Christie forums
3. QR code on my promotional do not disturb handout
4. Create a blog in which I can communicate with my audience and how to
make a Twine game.
Proposals and amendments
1. Develop the characters on blog i.e. create a Twitter account for each
character where they can text messages to the audience.
Part of the feedback was that it would be interesting to create Twitter feeds for
several of the characters from the game.
To do this I would focus on the Concierge character using him as focal point
for all the information. The set-up would be that he was following the other
guests on Twitter and literally in the game world. He would then RT other
guests and comment on their updates.
For example
The idea would be that the concierge would be the all seeing eye of the hotel
and become the reliable commentator on the ongoings of the rest of the
guests. The target audience could follow all characters or just the concierge
and therefore get different sides and reflections on the narrative.
There is an issue in terms of time period and the use of Twitter – but it falls in
line with some of the parody accounts for characters such as Don Draper from
Mad Men.
2. Think about an older demographic target audience and how my game
would appeal to them e.gPoirot Fans, ITV 3 fans, Agatha Christie forums
Advertising on ITV3 would be beyond the budget for the campaign but I have
thought of other solutions to target fans of murder mysteries, specifically
period ones as although the game is fantasy based the 30s settings and
mystery structure might appeal to this audience.
I have researched and discovered a number of Agatha Christie forums were
many different topics are discussed. While the main focus is on the literature
and the many film and TV adaptations there is a wider interest in murder
mystery and 30s’ style and design. Becoming a poster in these communities
may take time but it would be worth it to target it the audience or even submit
the game and ask for feedback. The text-base format of Twine would suit this
target audience well.
I also considered FanFiction sites as I could either submit the narrative part of
my game as stand alone story or try and see if the user-generated writing
community would be interested in adapting their narratives to Twine.
3. QR code on my promotional do not disturb handout
This was a good suggestion and would allow the target audience to get
immediate access to my game through the use of their smart phone.

It’s a simple readjust but could have a real effect. The tagline will draw the
audience in and the QR with give direct access to the game.
4. Create a blog in which I can communicate with my audience and how to
make a Twine game.
This is easily the easiest thing to do as I have already recorded the process
for the other units.
The key thing is to then promote the blog. This would be done through
existing Twine communities and also in the comments of the Twine related
Guardian articles. I could also use to generate interest in articles for gaming
sites to help build up the Indirect advertising part of the campaign.

I have researched and discovered a number of Agatha Christie forums were many different topics are discussed. While the main focus is on the literature and the many film and TV adaptations there is a wider interest in murder mystery and 30s’ style and design. Becoming a poster in these communities may take time but it would be worth it to target it the audience or even submit the game and ask for feedback. The text-base format of Twine would suit this target audience well. I also considered FanFiction sites as I could either submit the narrative part of my game as stand alone story or try and see if the user-generated writing community would be interested in adapting their narratives to Twine. 3. The tagline will draw the audience in and the QR with give direct access to the game. 4. Create a blog in which I can communicate with my audience and how to make a Twine game. This is easily the easiest thing to do as I have already recorded the process for the other units. The key thing is to then promote the blog. This would be done through existing Twine communities and also in the comments of the Twine related Guardian articles. I could also use to generate interest in articles for gaming sites to help build up the Indirect advertising part of the campaign.
