person has indispensable medical condition. The Complete Blood Count (CBC) is a blood test, extensively used to check various disorders such as
infections, allergies, problems with clotting, anaemia, leukaemia etc. In order to perform CBC test, the blood film is stained and then imaged with a
transmission light microscope. Here the analysis of the blood sample is done manually in order to count number of blood cells and also to identify
disorders in blood samples through a microscope. But it is a time consuming process and also leads to undesirable human error. In essence, the goal of
this review paper is to find out and validate the necessary image processing steps and different methods and algorithms used to count blood cells on
blood smear slides. This paper aims to provide: mitigate problems posed by different conditions such as noisy and degraded images; detect the
overlapping cells; to differentiate RBCs ,WBCs and also platelets which are present in a blood smear slide counting RBCs and WBCs and even

Anemia is a decrease in the competence of blood to carry adequate amounts of oxygen to the tissue resulting from an insufficient concentration of
hemoglobin (McKenzie & Otto, 2015). The Hemoglobin and hematocrit are used to screen for the presence of anemia. A small sample of blood in a
capillary tube is needed for the hematocrit test and an anticoagulated tube of blood is used for the hemoglobin (Hematocrit, 2015). Both of these
samples are then looked at using instruments in the laboratory to determine the amount of hemoglobin in the blood and the percent of hematocrit.

Depending on the results to these test results, additional tests may be suggested. The hemoglobin and hematocrit results are the values used the most to

of RBC transfused (Rezende et al., 2010). Final results on hct were 26.5g/dl in the control group vs 29.4g/dl in the intervention group with a P value
of 0.006; the final results of hgb in both groups were 9.1g/dl in the control group vs 9.7g/dl in the intervention group (P= 0.033), a significant result
for their a–priori level value which was set at 5% (Rezende et al., 2010). The number of transfused RBC in 14 days between the groups were as
follows: 2.42В±1.43 units in the control group vs 2.25units В±1.24 units in the intervention group (P= 0.623) (Rezende et al., 2010). The authors
recommended the use of VAMP to conserve H&H; however, they acknowledge that lack of time and limited resources as their limitation in that larger
studies are needed for comparison with their failed hypothesis regarding decreased transfusion requirement.
