PHIL-IRI Silent Reading (Post-test)
I. OBJECTIVES
1. Assess one’s reading speed and comprehension level
2. Identify the meaning of word/s through its synonyms, antonyms, and context clues
3. Identify antecedents of pronoun within paragraphs
4. Use information presented in a reading selection to infer and evaluate critical ideas

  • 1. A LESSON PLAN IN GRADE 7 PHIL-IRI Silent Reading (Post-test) I. OBJECTIVES 1. Assess one’s reading speed and comprehension level 2. Identify the meaning of word/s through its synonyms, antonyms, and context clues 3. Identify antecedents of pronoun within paragraphs 4. Use information presented in a reading selection to infer and evaluate critical ideas II. SUBJECT MATTER  Reading Material: ______________________________  Synonyms, Antonyms, Context Clues, Making Inferences and Conclusion III. PROCEDURE A. Motivation What are the things you do to improve your reading skills? In a scale of 1-10, how will you rate yourself as a reader after the series of lessons we had in our class? B. Silent Reading 1. General Instructions 2. Passing of the Silent Reading Materials 3. Reading of the selection and answering of Comprehension Check 4. Checking of Answers 5. Item Analysis 6. Remediation C. Evaluation of results : Reading Speed, Comprehension Level, Reading Level IV. ASSIGNMENT 1. In your lesson log, write your reflection about the result of your silent reading test. What do you need to do in order to improve your comprehension skills?
