Achieve Success at the Zoning Table - International Builders' Show 2014
The developer faced challenges in getting approval for phase 2 of a 330-unit apartment development due to opposition from neighbors and the county commission. They held multiple community meetings with increasing attendance to present the project, address concerns, and make commitments and plan changes. This included meetings with just residents, residents and the commissioner, and finally one-on-one meetings with HOA officials. Through an iterative process of incorporating feedback and making compromises, they were ultimately able to gain approval while treating opposition with respect.

Sustainability is a buzz word in today’s society. There are lots of definitions of what it is and what it means. Here’s a definition from the EPA: sustainability is: meeting the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.

Green Affordable Housing
Housing Nantucket is a non-profit organization that develops affordable green housing on Nantucket Island. Accordingly role of architects, engineers, planners, industry, builders, contractors and other stakeholders becomes important for looking critically and objectively, how buildings are planned and designed. It needs to be understood and appreciated that there cannot be any option better than designing buildings with nature , using natural elements. Built environment has to be made supportive to environment and ecology. If buildings donot make value addition to environment and bio-diversity, then no human being using such buildings shall remain happy and healthy. Buildings are meant for people, community and society to be used, and if the buildings cannot keep and fulfill that promise then the entire purpose of creating buildings is defeated. Architects and Engineers must come forward to ensure that the buildings are made supportive of nature and should invariably make value addition to nature in order to usher an era of sustainability, failing which humanity will be heading for disaster and self-destruction.

Combined Illegal, Unregulated and Unreported (IUU) Vessel List.
The best available, up-to-date information on all fishing and related vessels that appear on the illegal, unregulated, and unreported (IUU) fishing vessel lists published by Regional Fisheries Management Organisations (RFMOs) and related organisations. The aim of the site is to improve the effectiveness of the original IUU lists as a tool for a wide variety of stakeholders to better understand and combat illegal fishing and broader fisheries crime.
To date, the following regional organisations maintain or share lists of vessels that have been found to carry out or support IUU fishing within their own or adjacent convention areas and/or species of competence:
Commission for the Conservation of Antarctic Marine Living Resources (CCAMLR)
Commission for the Conservation of Southern Bluefin Tuna (CCSBT)
General Fisheries Commission for the Mediterranean (GFCM)
Inter-American Tropical Tuna Commission (IATTC)
International Commission for the Conservation of Atlantic Tunas (ICCAT)
Indian Ocean Tuna Commission (IOTC)
Northwest Atlantic Fisheries Organisation (NAFO)
North East Atlantic Fisheries Commission (NEAFC)
North Pacific Fisheries Commission (NPFC)
South East Atlantic Fisheries Organisation (SEAFO)
South Pacific Regional Fisheries Management Organisation (SPRFMO)
Southern Indian Ocean Fisheries Agreement (SIOFA)
Western and Central Pacific Fisheries Commission (WCPFC)
The Combined IUU Fishing Vessel List merges all these sources into one list that provides a single reference point to identify whether a vessel is currently IUU listed. Vessels that have been IUU listed in the past and subsequently delisted (for example because of a change in ownership, or because the vessel is no longer in service) are also retained on the site, so that the site contains a full historic record of IUU listed fishing vessels.
Unlike the IUU lists published on individual RFMO websites, which may update vessel details infrequently or not at all, the Combined IUU Fishing Vessel List is kept up to date with the best available information regarding changes to vessel identity, flag state, ownership, location, and operations.

Powered by Poured-In-Place Rubber (PIP) Pros: • fully ADA compliant • strong and durable • little maintenance for 5-10 years • does not need high maintenance in intensive use areas • low lifetime cost Cons: • can heat up when not shaded • needs full replacement in 5-15 years • higher initial cost
- 5. Powered by Engineered Wood Fiber (EWF) Pros: • natural material • remains cooler than synthetic materials • lower installation cost Cons: • high daily, weekly, monthly maintenance to ensure ADA compliance • high maintenance costs • very high lifetime costs

Powered by Prevention Plan : • New shade sails are being installed in both playgrounds as part of the current plan • New trees are being installed in the southwest of both playgrounds for long term canopy shade • The Manufacturer will share an MSDS Report which we will post online to ensure there are no elevated lead levels
