Islamic Women Vs Western Feminism Essay
Although Western feminism started in the 1900s, yet, it didn t reach the Islamic world until most
recently, a couple of hundred years later than the West. Despite the fact that both of the feminism
movements come from totally different back grounds, and they are affected by different history and
culture, still, both of them aimed for women s best interests. Muslim women were profoundly feeling
aggrieved by the discrimination they have against them. They stereotypical reputation about them in
the West, and their presentation in the Western media didn t help either. They started and supported a
new fight to regain themselves the equal status they were granted by Islam centuries ago. Muslim
women didn t like to be looked at as being backward and oppressed by men in a male dominant world.
According to the feminist historian Margot Badran, Islamic feminism is a feminist discourse and
practice articulated within an Islamic paradigm. Islamic feminism, which derives its understanding
and mandate from the Qur an, seeks rights and justice for women, and for men, in the totality of their
existence. (Badran, 2001)
To understand how Islamic feminism is different than the Western feminism, Hosseini suggested that
we can find the answers by:
examining the dynamics of Islamic feminism and its potential in the Muslim world. It is difficult and
perhaps futile to put the emerging feminist voices in Islam into neat categories and to try to generate a
definition that reflects the diversity of

(Dottolo Stewart, 2013). Being White in America has no set definition other than an individual with a
linage to the United kingdom, Europe, Germany, or Scandinavian. Being White in America is a skin
pigment, rather than a community or collaboration of traditions as displayed in minorities. Because
there is no regulated definition or standard as to what Whiteness is or should be, Through personal and
informal questioning of my fellow students on campus, a notable and interesting trend emerged: only
one of the Caucasian people that was questioned could answer what it meant to be White in America.
She defined it less about race and more about what White people stereotypically do. These include
things such as being in the upper middle class with a steady retirement fund in a two parent household.
This idea of a typical White family or life does hold some merit. The 2010 United States census has
found that the average White person will live in a community that is seventy seven percent white.
Among White Americans, ninety one percent of the people that they communicate with through their
social media networks are also White. Three quarters of White Americans report only have contact on
social media with people exclusively of their own race (2015, August 28). This practice of
predominantly associating with people of one s own skin tone is known as racial homogeneity.

MMWR Paper on Hepatitis B
Microbiology 212 A
April 27, 2012
Hepatitis B virus (HBV) is a DNA virus that affects the liver and belongs to the Hepadnaviridae group
(Takkenberg, Weegink, Zaaijer, amp; Reesink, 2010). According to an article in Vox Sanguines, an
international journal of transfusion medicine, (Takkenberg, Weegink, Zaaijer, amp; Reesink, 2010)
about 400 million people worldwide are chronically infected with HBV, and 2 billion people have
serological evidence of past or present HBV infection . HBV, formerly known as serum hepatitis
(Huether amp; McCance, 2008), has eight genotypes (A H) with genotype D being associated with

Looking at the data provided by CDC (Department of Health and Human Services, 2011) during 2010
2011 there is an average incidence of HBV of 8 (per 10 million people) in 2010 and 6 (per 10 million
people) in 2011 (appendix C). This decrease of 2 (per 10 million people) from 2010 2011 may just be
a coincidence and further analysis of data over a larger period of time would be needed. The decrease
of 2 persons may not seem like a lot; however with continued education, vaccination, and awareness
of prevention, this could indeed signify a downward trend of acute HBV. The trend of occurrence over
the course of each year, 2010 and 2011, shows a steady increase without any major spike or deviations
(appendix A amp; B). With the transmission of HBV being mainly from drug use and exchange of
fluids between infected individuals (sexually), there is no factor that should cause a spike. Continuing
preventative measures will promote lowering the incidence of occurrence, however until a cure is
found HBV will still register a minimal number of cases a year.

Intro
The aim of this report is to explore the historical evolution and the socio economic perspectives of
National Health Service (NHS) and Mental Health individuals. The report will explore the history as
far as early Nineteenth Century to the present day. The main focus will be on policies and legislation
influenced the foundation of NHS and how it has progressed to meet mental health individual s needs.
The report will also address the needs of individuals, resourced, stigma and discrimination for the
mental health individuals. Blakemore (2003) Blakemore further questioned social policies intention to
improve human welfare and to meet individual s biopsychosocial needs. Changes were not just
influenced by policies and legislation, they were also influenced by funding, organisation of the
service delivery and influential people who felt the need for change.
During the 19th and beginning of 20th centuries, there was an extension of amendments to the Poor
Law. The health service in the United Kingdom was provided by private care and charities. The 1834
Reform Act Law that focused on developing public health, local government, education and the health
services. In 1842 Edward Chadwick, from Poor Law Commission enquiry, recognised disease as a key
source to pauperism. In 1842, his Report identified sanitation as a primary key to illness and the
Public Health Act was established in 1848. The improvements of the conditions lead to the population

Puritan Citizen In The Scarlet Letter By Nathaniel Hawthorne
Throughout the novel The Scarlet Letter, Nathaniel Hawthorne develops compelling characters that
are starkly different from the normal Puritan citizen. The novel mainly focuses on Hester, a Puritan
woman living in New England, and the story of her affair and how it affects her life and the lives of
those around her. Puritan citizens are illustrated as stern, dreary characters, but Hawthorne brings up
sin, love, and hate even in the characters who are seemingly the most rigid when it comes to Puritan
lifestyle. Chillingworth, Hester, and Pearl of the novel The Scarlet Letter by Nathaniel Hawthorne
display complex character traits, including admiration, honesty, and loneliness. Hester s daughter,
Pearl, has distinct characteristics that make her a major character in this novel. In the text, Hawthorne
reveals that Pearl feels isolated from society, and has to go through any struggles in her life alone. The
singularity lay in the hostile feelings with which the child regarded ... Show more content on

Although Hester deeply betrayed Chillingworth with her affair, he still admires her and the love he felt
for her in the past still lingers with him. Thou hadst great elements. Peradventure, hadst thou met
earlier with a better love than mine, this evil had not been. I pity thee, for the good that has been
wasted in thy nature! (Hawthorne 157). Chillingworth admires Hester for her great qualities. He says
that she could have met a better man and lived a better life if this sin and evil had not taken place and
can see that her good qualities were wasted when she married him. As a result, Chillingworth
empathizes with her because the attributes he loved about her have transformed due to her punishment
physically and mentally. Chillingworth still loves and admires Hester s good qualities, but understands

Mass Surveillance Is Not A Justified Method Of...
Nishant Agrawal
In this essay, we stand in the negation of the Resolution: Mass surveillance is not a justified method of
governmental intelligence gathering. We define the term surveillance , as the act of carefully watching
someone or something especially in order to prevent or detect a crime, as does Merriam Webster s
dictionary. We will have three main contentions. First: anti terrorism, second: cost effective, and third:
it does not affect people.
Contention One: Anti Terrorism. Mass surveillance prevents terrorism in many ways. First, Mass
surveillance is just watching over the entire communication within a population. The terrorists that lie
between innocent, normal people use the same communication as everyone does. If we just watch over
everyone, we can find/stop upcoming terrorist plots. Some people might argue that the majority of a
selected population is innocent, and they are, but there do exist terrorists that make up part of the
population. Mass surveillance is an excellent method as it captures all activity and monitors it, if there
is any unusual, suspects activity it will pop up. This is a method used by the NSA, which also uses
mass surveillance, and they have also been successful in deterring many terrorist plots, so there is
proof that mass surveillance is effective, and since National Security is mostly a national priority for
most countries, therefore mass surveillance is a justified method of governmental intelligence. Second,
there has been

Compare The Central Route To Persuasion
Concept paper #2 Persuasion
Description/Definition of Concept
Persuasion, by definition, is the process by which a message induces change in beliefs, attitudes, or
behaviors (Myers, 2010). There are two different paths that leads to influence. These two paths, or
routes, are called the Central Route and the Peripheral Route. Although these two paths enable
information to be processed differently, there are four elements that determine whether the information
will be influential or not. These four elements include who is giving the information, what is being
said, by what method is the information given, and to whom is it being told to.
The Central Route to persuasion occurs when the focus is on the argument or evidence and people
response with positive thoughts and/or feedback. This route is motivating when people care about an
issue and want to talk about it. An example would be Global warming. People use scientific ... Show

If your speaking to well educated or analytical people, you should be more rational. However,
uninterested parties tend to focus on the peripheral cues.
How it s being said means by what channel is the information delivered. Information can be delivered
by face to face, written form, or through the media. Repetition also makes things more believable.
When you hear something over and over, you begin to believe it even if it s completely false. This
happens a lot to people who are bullied. They begin to believe the lies their tormentor tells them, thus
resulting in low self esteem.
The audience is the last element and possibly the most important. You need to know all the
characteristics of your audience; such as age, knowledge of the issue, and if they care or not about the
argument. If your audience is young, you might want to steer clear of the central route because they
probably won t care about the facts and figures of your argument.

Compare And Contrast The Classic Perspective Of Strategy
In this assignment we compare a classic and a systemic perspective of strategy. When talking about
strategy one will often find the name Michael Eugene Porter. His books, models, frameworks and
theories are often seen as basics in the field of strategy. His most significant and popular framework is
the five forces analysis (Porter, 1980). According to Whittington (1993), Porter is placed within the
classic approach of strategy. In total he introduces four perspectives which are the classic, the
evolutionary, the processual and the systemic. He argues that each perspective had an identifiable
decade in which it was dominant. Accordingly, the classic perspective is placed in a timeframe starting
at 1960. The main intention in the classic perspective is the maximizing return on investment. Besides
Porter, Ansoff and Chandler are important names for the classic approach. Since ... Show more content

The Role Of Identity In S. Morgenstern s The Princess Bride
What if? A question that many people find themselves asking. What if someone read Lord of The
Rings instead of Harry Potter? Would they be attempting to learn Elvish instead of learning magic
spells? In life, there are choices that have to be made. One or the other. The same applies to literature.
For example, The Princess Bride, by S. Morgenstern. Readers of this novel may begin to ask
themselves this very question. What if Westley did not reveal his identity to Buttercup when he fell
down the ravine? How would this affect the remainder of the story? There are so many different ways
that the story could have gone if the author had changed when Westley revealed his true identity.
There are so many times and places where it would be logical for him to uncover his disguise, but it is
up to the imagination to decide on the best way. S. Morgenstern in his work, The Princess Bride,
demonstrates the ability to change by allowing the reader to modify his story with their own creative
thoughts. In order to have several different outcomes to the story, someone must first take out the
original written portion where Westley reveals his identity to Buttercup. After someone mentally
erases everything that happened after Westley fell down the ravine, they can now think of all of the
different possible outcomes. In the text, it states, Words followed her. Whispered from far, weak and
warm and familiar. As... you... wish...(185). This is the original point in which he shows her his true
identity. Now, what if he had fallen down the steep hill and said nothing? Based on Buttercup s
instinct for survival and her powerful characteristics, one could assume that as soon as her attacker
was no longer able to harm her, she would try her best to find her way back to safety. She made no
effort to not consistently explain to all four of her assailants that her Prince would find and save her no
matter how long it took, and knowing this, one would assume that she would wait for her Prince as
long as she needed to. However, the main plot of the story revolves around murder and suicide, so
Buttercup would either die from suicide, or be murdered by Prince Humperdinck on their wedding
night depending on what horrible

Apologetics New Generation
Review 3: Sean McDowell, Apologetics for a New Generation (Harvest House, 2009)
SUMMARY
Apologetics for a New Generation is a compilation of essays from some of the greatest Christian
minds geared towards answering the question: How do we use apologetics effectively to reach the new
generations? It is clear that large numbers of youngsters view Christianity negatively. Relativism and
postmodernism have eroded the mindset and values in our culture. Therefore, the immutable truths of
Christianity need to be pitched differently to the current generation. Apologetics is more important
than ever, but the manner in which we deliver truth is equally important: Christians must build
relationships in the context of love, civility, wisdom and kindness ... Show more content on

We need to retell the stories of old, the stories of Scripture and of Jesus Resurrection in ways that
captivate the modern mind without compromising truth. This statement from Brian Godawa
summarizes my take away from the book: The one who can tell the best story, in a very real sense,
wins the epoch (131). As a left sided brain engineer (and not unlike Godawa), I expected my logical
syllogisms to be devastating to atheism and that after seeing the undeniable logic in them, unbelievers
would come to Christ in hordes. I am well aware that is unlikely to happen. I am convinced that the
days when masses walk down the aisles in football stadiums to receive Christ are long gone. With the
advent of relativism, postmodernism, and mass media, the modern apologist should adopt a distinct
approach. From Apologetics for a New Generation and past experience I believe there are tree
winning strategies for the modern apologist to win the new generations : (1) Storytelling: both Jesus
and the Apostle Paul had the gift of storytelling. They took fact, encapsulated it in a context relevant
and captivating story, and delivered it to those willing to hear. They were interesting, engaging, and
truthful. They knew their culture and how to engage it. We

Castles of the Welsh Princes and Gaelic Irish Lords Essay...
The high medieval Welsh princes and Gaelic Irish lords are comparable in several ways. Both had to
contend with the ever growing presence of the Anglo Normans and were able to maintain some form
of native rule throughout the period ( Gaelic lordly settlement 209). Furthermore, castles played a
significant role in the proceedings whether built or captured and whether they were of native origins
or Anglo Norman. This can be attributed to their capabilities of withstanding various scales of warfare
and being one of the means of displaying lordly rank ( Settlement and Society 97). However, the
functions, characteristics, and prevalence of castles are not necessarily uniform across the three
groups. Using the historical and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Accordingly, the building styles of Welsh castles bear marked similarities to their Anglo Norman
counterparts. (Davis 7) This resemblance, a scarcity of historical records from the Welsh, and the
frequency with which the castles would change ownership make identifying sites built or occupied by
the native Welsh problematic (30). This is compounded by multiple construction phases that would
frequently, but not always, accompany changes in ownership and complicate the archaeological
evidence. For example, Denbigh Castle in Gwynedd was originally a native castle that housed
Llwelyn the Great and his grandson Dafydd ap Gruffudd, but its physical characteristics are lost to
history due to the only remains belonging to a later castle built by Earl Henry de Lacy in 1282 (Davis
52). The remains of Welsh earthwork castles are considered to be indistinguishable from Anglo
Norman. As a result, only 8.5% of the remaining castles accounted for in Wales, thirty six of the four
hundred and twenty seven, are attributed to the Welsh. However, this percentage is not thought to
reflect the totality of Welsh castles. (Chateau Gaillard 11)
The start of Welsh castle building correspondingly occurs after 1066. Welshpool in Powys is the first
castle recorded to have been built by the Welsh nobility. This would have presumably been
accomplished after Cadwgan ap Bleddyn took over the region in

Analysis Of Disney s Main Core Competencies
Internal Environment In order for Disney to remain a dominate player within all of its markets, the
company must focus on key aspects of its internal environment. Disney must concentrate on aspects
such as core competencies, corporate governance, and synergies to assist in forming a sustainable
competitive advantage. Core Competencies One of Disney s main core competencies is its marketing
ability. The Disney brand has been consistently listed on Interbrand s Best Global Brands list. In 2014,
the firm ranked #13 and in 2013, it was ranked #14. According to Interbrand, Disney s lasting brand
success has to do with the company s ability to emphasize creativity, technology, and global growth
within its long term business strategy. Another factor that attributes to the firm success is its capacity
to understand what consumers want and how to personalize their experiences. For example, the new
MagicBand and mobile application, which was introduced at Disney World in 2013, allows the
customers with the use of technology to personalize their Disney experience. The band enables the
participants to travel lighter throughout their entire vacation. The band can act as a hotel key, credit
card, and ticket. The mobile application allows customers to book tickets make restaurant reservations
and create a schedule of day s events. Another core competency that Disney maintains is the
operational efficiency, which is mainly demonstrated within its parks and resorts unit. A prime

However, opponents must address the facts that states are carrying out the death penalty in the most
humanitarian way possible. In the constitution, cruel and unusual capital punishment defines the acts
of disemboweling, beheading, quartering, dissecting, and burning alive [those who are found guilty of
capital punishment], all of which share the deliberate infliction of pain for the sake of pain ( BAZE vs.
REES 1). On the other hand, thirty of the thirty six states that have legalized capital punishment carry
out capital punishment through lethal injection. The injection consists of a combination of three drugs:
The first, sodium thiopental, induces unconsciousness when given in the specified amounts and
thereby ensures that the prisoner does not experience any pain associated with the paralysis and
cardiac arrest caused by the second and third drugs, pancuronium bromide and potassium chloride...(
BAZE vs REES 1).
Thus, those who are encumbered with capital punishment are endowed the least ghastly way to die
possible. Further, proponents of capital punishment believe that it is necessary to use capital
punishment in a free world. Once the murderer has committed the gruesome act, the murderer [should

The Lady With The Dog Short Story
Title: He Looks So Good in Love
The story of The Lady with the Dog was written by Anton Chekhov. This is a short story about two
unhappily married people and the challenges they must overcome when they fall in love with one
another. Chekhov s central idea in this short story is that love is an intense force that has the ability to
improve a person purely because they love another person. Chekhov conveys this idea not through
words but his use of beautifully detailed descriptions of the physical setting throughout each scene in
the story. His use of symbolism when writing about the weather and scenery helps the reader
understands what is going through Dimitri s mind each very moment. This part of the story is told by
Chekhov s use of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Chekhov uses the weather in this scene in many ways, he begins the scene by stating it was sultry
indoors he uses the word sultry and indoors to imply that being closed inside with Anna was causing
sexual desires in Dimitri revealing that there was a great deal of sexual tension between the two of
them. He continues to describe the setting by discussing the wind and the way it was moving. The
wind symbolizes the change that has begun in Dimitri. How this affair was different from the many
others he had before. Dimitri felt different about Anna his feelings were more pure and stronger than
he had ever felt for any other woman. The movement of the wind is describing how Dimitri s who
normally had control of himself had now found that he unable to control these new found emotions for
Anna. Chekhov further describes the wind blowing peoples hats off showing the reader just how out
of control these emotions really are. Dimitri s feelings for Anna were not ones that he welcomed just
like one does not enjoy there hat being blown off their head. Dimitri is surly losing control of his own
emotions in this scene and this was very new to the womanizer who looked down on woman. Dimitri s
level of discomfort rises as Chekhov describes the day as parching showing the reader that Dimitri is
unable to swallow due to his awkwardness in this situation and by ending the

Mexican Artist Essay
Mexican artists, more than most other artists in the Americas, exemplify the political and social
obligations of artists. According to Soltes (2011), several Mexican artists of the early twentieth
century were inspired by the revolutions and political unrest occurring in Mexico, which was reflected
in their work. Diego Rivera (1886 1957) considered one of Mexico s Renaissance artists, influenced
by European avant garde style, painted Zapatista Landscape (1915). This work was done as Rivera s
tribute to the Mexican revolutionary Emiliano Zapata who had played a key role in the 1910 Mexican
Revolution that had overthrown the then President Porfirio Diaz (Soltes, L43, 4:42). Soltes (2011)
describes this work: very clearly we see a rifle; we see it s a sarape, together with a very stylized
backdrop of water, mountains and sky, punctuated by a work that seems largely to emulate the
synthetic cubist style of Picasso and Braque that we ve earlier discussed. One has the allusion indeed,
that we are looking at a collage of geometric forms made of diverse materials imposed against that
background of vague sea and sky (L43, 4:13). Although the Mexican ... Show more content on

Also considered a Mexican Renaissance painter and muralist, Siqueiros had the most politically active
reputation. According to Soltes (2011) Siqueiros The New Democracy (1944), was created near the
end of World War II. Siqueiros used his wife Anhelika Arenal as his model to represent democracy. As
described by Soltes (2011): democracy represented allegorically by a bare breasted woman emerging
from a kind of window with her arms count them really three arms with which he is breaking the
chains of the totalitarian fascist enemy extending the torch of freedom extending a floral kind of torch

Persuasive Essay On The Great Bear Rainforest
Is your ideal vacation to a place where it s easy to forget skyscrapers exist? Or where crowded theme
parks and restaurant chains are non existent? Or where wildlife outnumbers people? If answered yes to
any of these then the Great Bear Rainforest would be a vacation dream come true. From fishing to
sightseeing to kayaking to hiking to eating local cuisine, this destination offers it all for those seeking
remote destinations.
The Great Bear Rainforest is located in British Columbia, Canada. It is remote yet easy to access by
car, plane, or ferry from Vancouver. It is a 12 14 hour drive or a 75 minute flight from Vancouver to
Bella Coola. By ferry the travel time depends on the ports and the stops made in the process. Bella
Coola is the main tourism hub for lodging and dining in the Great Bear Rainforest. Also located in
Bella Coola is the main visitor center , where visitors can learn more about what the forest has to offer,
the First Nations that inhabit it, and book activities to partake in. One option is to participate in
learning about one of the aboriginal tribes culture, art, and lifestyle______ But before it was a remote
tourist destination, it was threatened by logging companies hoping to make countless profits off of the
1,000 year old trees.
The Great Bear Rainforest is a thriving twenty one million acre forest. This ecosystem is the largest
temperate rainforest and represents a quarter of all coastal temperate rainforests worldwide.(CITE) In

A Study On State Bank Of India
Chapter 6
FINDINGS OF THE REPORT
The following are the major findings of the report:
1. It is evident from personal observation and also from the analysis of 5.1,5.2,5.3 and5.4 that:
Almost 95% of the people in Guwahati have their accounts in State Bank of India. This is because
everyone has the stereotype that State Bank of India is the best amongst all the banks.
The younger generation people are comfortable in banking with the privatized banks while the elder
generation seems to be comfortable with the nationalized banks.
Now a days, it is found that customers are willing to have their accounts in multiple banks rather than
having it in one bank.
When asked about the people about which sector they would prefer banking with, ... Show more

Also other services like statement enquiry, insurance services, mobile and internet banking etc. are
also gaining importance day by day and these have to be looked by the banks seriously.
2. It is evident from personal observation and also from the analysis of 5.5.1, 5.5.2, 5.5.3, 5.5.4, 5.5.5
and 5.5.6 that:
The various facilities provided by the banks like availability of information brochures, ATM machines
in convenient locations, no long line ups at counters etc. are very important now a days to gain
customer satisfaction regarding the banks they are banking with. Also the customers like a pleasant
and attractive décor within the banks so that they can feel relax while doing their important work with
the banks.
3. It is evident from personal observation and also from the analysis of 5.6.1, 5.6.2, 5.6.3, 5.6.4, 5.6.5
,5.6.6 and 5.6.7 that:
The manner, appearance, efficiency, professionalism and knowledge of the staffs of the bank also play
an important role in driving customers to their respective banks. The reason is that if the staffs are not
able to handle the queries or problems of the staffs then the customers are not tempted to do banking
with a particular bank. This may be either with a nationalized or a privatized bank.
4. From personal observation and also from the analysis of 5.7, 5.8.1, 5.8.2, 5.8.3, 5.8.4, we can find

Cons Of Human Cloning
Introduction
The topic of cloning has brought much debate in science and also in society. Many people believe that
reproductive cloning would be beneficial while on the other hand, many people believe that it is too
risky and unethical. Reproductive cloning has shown advantages and disadvantages to humanity,
animals, and society. Through research and critical thinking, we will look at both the issues and the
benefits that come with reproductive cloning.
What is Cloning
There are three different types of artificial cloning: gene cloning, reproductive cloning, and
therapeutic cloning (Cloning Fact Sheet, 2017). Reproductive cloning is the process used when
creating a copy of an animal or human. It can also occur in nature; which happens when mammals
have identical twins. The application of somatic nuclear transfer technology to the creation of a human
being that shares all of its nuclear genes with the person donating the implanted nucleus (Pros and
Cons of Human Cloning, 2016). The process of reproductive cloning may seem relatively
straightforward; however, there is a unique and rigorous process that goes into creating a clone. First,
scientist remove a somatic cell from an animal that they wish to copy and then transfer the DNA from
the cell into an egg cell. The egg then develops into an early stage embryo while still in a test tube.
Scientists place the early stage embryo into an adult female animal s womb where it slowly develops.
Later, this female animal gives birth

International Policy Essay
III. Assessment
As such we have three possible policy options, ranging from nearly total neutrality, to partial insertion
into the conflict, and full out insertion into the conflict
Policy Option I:
Our first policy option is to continue the path we re now of lending only tentative support in the form
of our public position stating that Russia entering Crimea was a break of international law. And with
this not acting upon any real plan of moving forward.
Short Term:
In the short term, this policy may keep the peace for a short while. But by not enforcing international
law, we risk the United Nations facing many more violations, as not enforcing this break, tells the rest
of the world that the United Nations is a watchdog with now real ... Show more content on

Short Term:
The short term affects include the large scale operation costs to provide these weapons and training to
the Ukraine. With this we also risk backlash from Russia, from getting involved even covertly in this
conflict. The desire, would be to accomplish this without Russia knowing, which is rather unlikely,
and therefore, we would be risking whether they might retaliate against the United States. For this
plan to work, we need to assure the Ukraine of the strength of our alliance, and must be willing to
enter further into the conflict to support Ukraine in the backlash from Russia. As to not do so could
very well result in a Bay of Pigs situation.
Long Term:
As for the long term affects, our greatest fear would lay on what we risk by putting weapons in the
hands of the Ukrainian s. We ve seen several former Soviet states, with weapons supplied by Russia,
from using these weapons further and in conflicts we disapprove of. To keep this from happening a
close eye on the Ukraine would be required, once more draining resources further. In terms of long
term peace, this option is the most fitting, with this retaining our alliances and possibly getting our
desires in the end. Economically it is a larger blow than the first policy decision, but cheaper than full
military intervention. We also have a greater chance of having plausible deniability if we support a
counter insurgency plan over a full military action. This however

The Effects Of Americans On Indian Life
One cannot examine U.S. history without looking at the interactions between Native Americans and
Americans. From colonization to industrialization, conflicts between these groups have always been
prevalent. Indians have been stripped of their land, heritage and status. Our guns, germ and culture
have killed them. One can see this power struggle in many pieces of literature. Two being, Crazy
Horse: A Life , a secondary source focusing on a Sioux warrior Crazy Horse and the Plains peoples,
and Indian Trader John Lawson s Journal of Carolina 1709, a primary source that describes an English
merchant s encounter with Indians in Carolina. This paper will focus on the effects of Americans on
Indian life.
Crazy Horse: A Life is a secondary source of information that tells the story of Sioux leader Crazy
Horse and his tribe. As Whites invade their land for gold Crazy Horse has to find a way to keep his
home. Throughout the source, Larry McMurtry, with little evidence, draws up the rise and fall of
Crazy Horse. From early on it was evident of the whites were moving into the Plains peoples
settlements, The author wrote, ...at first the pressure of white intrusion may have been subtle but and
slight but it was present, and would be present throughout his entire life... the Sioux people and others
way of life was dying because of the settlements of white people on their land. Their settlements cause
the game to leave the area, which in turn hurt the hunters of the tribe. With these

Ray Bradbury s The Pedestrian
The real problem is not whether machines think, but whether men do; B.F. Skinner. This quote rings
true in today s world. Ray Bradbury predicted this particular problem with technology in his fiction
novel The Pedestrian. Published in 1951, The Pedestrian predicts some of the problems society will
have with technology in the future. Even in 1951 Ray Bradbury could see that technology is very
addicting and hard on originality. For example, in The Pedestrian the whole city is inside watching
their viewing boxes. The main character Leonard is outside and gets arrested for taking a walk at
night. In Leonard s world, him not wanting to be pacified by technology is regressive , and regressive
behavior is scary. Leonard is alone in The Pedestrian.

Milk Lab Report
Dependency of curd mass on four different types of milk (Non Fat, Low Fat, Reduced Fat, Whole)
using lemon juice
Purpose
The purpose of this experiment was to determine if lemon juice would cause the different fat levels in
milk to affect the curd mass.
Background Information
The major components of milk are water, fat, proteins, lactose, carbohydrates, and minerals
(dairyprocessinghandbook.com) with the main proteins in milk being casein and whey. When the
casein protein separates from the whey, fat, and lactose in the milk, the product is micellar casein.
These micelles have a negative charge, are not soluble in water and moreover, repel each other, which
keeps them suspended in the milk solution.
Milk has a natural pH level that resides just ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Employee can take advantage of this issue and create a legal issues and obstacles against Walmart.
Legal issues against Walmart have been brought up in many different states. Many states has a
minimum wage requirement that has to be followed by all the businesses in the state. One example is
the case Walmart Stores vs S.C. Savaglio, where a group of Walmart employees sued Walmart because
Walmart allegedly had violated California s meal period law (Cascio, 2010). Walmart lose $172
million dollars in the general and punitive damages. Not even a year after that, Walmart loses another
lawsuit in the state of Pennsylvania for forcing employees to work off the clock (Cascio, 2010).
The recommendation of the writer for Walmart is to get unionized so that Walmart can mitigate
possible litigation. Walmart then can save a lot of money and time in fighting against lawsuits coming
from their employees.
Union Benefits, Profits, and Bargain
Union benefits the employee by negotiating with their employer as a group to get a higher pays,
benefits, better hours, etc. Unionization process is done with employee agreement to agree to use
union in representing them in negotiation with employers. The Legal Basis to engage in union
activities can be found in the Wagner Act, or National Labor Relations Act, of 1935 (Cascio, 2010).
For a company to get unionize, at least signatures from 30 percent of the employees are needed (Lee
Smith, 2011).
Union is bargaining with the employer in

The Pros And Cons Of The IMF In Pakistan
The IMF has a history with the country of Pakistan which may be viewed as very problematic for the
people of the country depending on who you ask. In my research for one specific problem to write
about pertaining this issue, I decided to encompass the entire project of Pakistan, which to many
would be considered a massive failure on the part of the IMF and the ruling elite class of Pakistan.
Pakistan gained its independence in 1947, and was mostly under martial law until 1984, four years
before the IMF started granting loans to Pakistan that would never be repaid. Despite having a historic
culture and ample natural resources, Pakistan as a country cannot seem to keep it s head above water
financially. Doctor Ehtisham Ahmad of the London School of Economics says, 11 out of 12 IMF
programs since 1988 ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The first is that they did not come in even increments. Shortly after the loans were given conditions
would stabilize, but then according to Dr. Ehtisham Ahmad, when these inflows declined, the
economy quickly headed towards fiscal and balance of payments crises. (Ahmad, E., Mohammed, A.,
2012). It is hard for industry to ever stabilize when you are constantly battling credit crises. Since the
country can t always meet the conditions of the loans from the IMF, the US has gleefully stepped up to
lend the country money, but at what cost? According to Dr. Ehtisham Ahmad, The foundation of the
relationship with the US is based on Pakistan s strategic location at the mouth of the Persian Gulf .
(Ahmad, E., Mohammed, A., 2012). So the IMF is setting Pakistan up for failure with it s stop and go
lending, allowing the US to enter the picture as a lender in return for certain political favors involving
the land. So in it s series of loans to Pakistan, it has stripped the independence from the country and
helped other nations come in to make decisions involving it s

Punishment And Punishment In Education
One of the basic human functions is to learn, whether it be a specific school subject or a behavior
through observation. As one grows up, it is important to see how he or she was taught to treat people
good, bad, honest, fair? How can violence be eliminated very early on in development? One form of
learning is through punishment. Many times, punishment is used to inform a child or even an adult to
not do a certain thing again while educating them on what is good or bad behavior considering the
circumstance. Therefore, punishment is not only a teaching tool, but also a process that decreases the
likelihood reoccurrence of a behavior (Hockenbury, S. E., Nolan, S. A, Hockenbury, D. H. 2015). As a
young child, a punishment may have included taking away a desired toy or a treat that we wanted to
obtain, such as going to the movies or getting McDonalds for dinner. It is easy to look back and reflect
on past experiences of punishment that shaped us into who we are today. However, punishment is not
simply a negative consequence of being a child; it can happen to people of all ages. For example, a
punishment can be directed at adults who don t dress properly or arrive late to work. Punishment can
be effective for all age groups because human beings are an imperfect species. It is never too late to
improve one s behavior. Overall, the main purpose of punishment is to stop wrongdoings among all
ages from happening repeatedly. When thinking of punishment regarding psychology,

  • 2. Islamic Women Vs Western Feminism Essay Although Western feminism started in the 1900s, yet, it didn t reach the Islamic world until most recently, a couple of hundred years later than the West. Despite the fact that both of the feminism movements come from totally different back grounds, and they are affected by different history and culture, still, both of them aimed for women s best interests. Muslim women were profoundly feeling aggrieved by the discrimination they have against them. They stereotypical reputation about them in the West, and their presentation in the Western media didn t help either. They started and supported a new fight to regain themselves the equal status they were granted by Islam centuries ago. Muslim women didn t like to be looked at as being backward and oppressed by men in a male dominant world. According to the feminist historian Margot Badran, Islamic feminism is a feminist discourse and practice articulated within an Islamic paradigm. Islamic feminism, which derives its understanding and mandate from the Qur an, seeks rights and justice for women, and for men, in the totality of their existence. (Badran, 2001) To understand how Islamic feminism is different than the Western feminism, Hosseini suggested that we can find the answers by: examining the dynamics of Islamic feminism and its potential in the Muslim world. It is difficult and perhaps futile to put the emerging feminist voices in Islam into neat categories and to try to generate a definition that reflects the diversity of ... • 3. Gender, A, And Social Orientation be seen as natural, a default identity; it goes unnoticed, hidden, and taken for granted as normal (Dottolo Stewart, 2013). Being White in America has no set definition other than an individual with a linage to the United kingdom, Europe, Germany, or Scandinavian. Being White in America is a skin pigment, rather than a community or collaboration of traditions as displayed in minorities. Because there is no regulated definition or standard as to what Whiteness is or should be, Through personal and informal questioning of my fellow students on campus, a notable and interesting trend emerged: only one of the Caucasian people that was questioned could answer what it meant to be White in America. She defined it less about race and more about what White people stereotypically do. These include things such as being in the upper middle class with a steady retirement fund in a two parent household. This idea of a typical White family or life does hold some merit. The 2010 United States census has found that the average White person will live in a community that is seventy seven percent white. Among White Americans, ninety one percent of the people that they communicate with through their social media networks are also White. Three quarters of White Americans report only have contact on social media with people exclusively of their own race (2015, August 28). This practice of predominantly associating with people of one s own skin tone is known as racial homogeneity. Caucasians ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Mmwr Hepatitis B MMWR Paper on Hepatitis B Microbiology 212 A April 27, 2012 Hepatitis B virus (HBV) is a DNA virus that affects the liver and belongs to the Hepadnaviridae group (Takkenberg, Weegink, Zaaijer, amp; Reesink, 2010). According to an article in Vox Sanguines, an international journal of transfusion medicine, (Takkenberg, Weegink, Zaaijer, amp; Reesink, 2010) about 400 million people worldwide are chronically infected with HBV, and 2 billion people have serological evidence of past or present HBV infection . Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Looking at the data provided by CDC (Department of Health and Human Services, 2011) during 2010 2011 there is an average incidence of HBV of 8 (per 10 million people) in 2010 and 6 (per 10 million people) in 2011 (appendix C). This decrease of 2 (per 10 million people) from 2010 2011 may just be a coincidence and further analysis of data over a larger period of time would be needed. The decrease of 2 persons may not seem like a lot; however with continued education, vaccination, and awareness of prevention, this could indeed signify a downward trend of acute HBV. The trend of occurrence over the course of each year, 2010 and 2011, shows a steady increase without any major spike or deviations (appendix A amp; B). With the transmission of HBV being mainly from drug use and exchange of fluids between infected individuals (sexually), there is no factor that should cause a spike. Continuing preventative measures will promote lowering the incidence of occurrence, however until a cure is found HBV will still register a minimal number of cases a year. References Adams, M. • 6. Puritan Citizen In The Scarlet Letter By Nathaniel Hawthorne Throughout the novel The Scarlet Letter, Nathaniel Hawthorne develops compelling characters that are starkly different from the normal Puritan citizen. The novel mainly focuses on Hester, a Puritan woman living in New England, and the story of her affair and how it affects her life and the lives of those around her. Puritan citizens are illustrated as stern, dreary characters, but Hawthorne brings up sin, love, and hate even in the characters who are seemingly the most rigid when it comes to Puritan lifestyle. Chillingworth, Hester, and Pearl of the novel The Scarlet Letter by Nathaniel Hawthorne display complex character traits, including admiration, honesty, and loneliness. Hester s daughter, Pearl, has distinct characteristics that make her a major character in this novel. In the text, Hawthorne reveals that Pearl feels isolated from society, and has to go through any struggles in her life alone. • 7. Mass Surveillance Is Not A Justified Method Of... Nishant Agrawal In this essay, we stand in the negation of the Resolution: Mass surveillance is not a justified method of governmental intelligence gathering. We define the term surveillance , as the act of carefully watching someone or something especially in order to prevent or detect a crime, as does Merriam Webster s dictionary. We will have three main contentions. First: anti terrorism, second: cost effective, and third: it does not affect people. Contention One: Anti Terrorism. Mass surveillance prevents terrorism in many ways. First, Mass surveillance is just watching over the entire communication within a population. The terrorists that lie between innocent, normal people use the same communication as everyone does. If we just watch over everyone, we can find/stop upcoming terrorist plots. Some people might argue that the majority of a selected population is innocent, and they are, but there do exist terrorists that make up part of the population. Mass surveillance is an excellent method as it captures all activity and monitors it, if there is any unusual, suspects activity it will pop up. This is a method used by the NSA, which also uses mass surveillance, and they have also been successful in deterring many terrorist plots, so there is proof that mass surveillance is effective, and since National Security is mostly a national priority for most countries, therefore mass surveillance is a justified method of governmental intelligence. Second, there has been ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Compare The Central Route To Persuasion Concept paper #2 Persuasion Description/Definition of Concept Persuasion, by definition, is the process by which a message induces change in beliefs, attitudes, or behaviors (Myers, 2010). There are two different paths that leads to influence. These two paths, or routes, are called the Central Route and the Peripheral Route. Although these two paths enable information to be processed differently, there are four elements that determine whether the information will be influential or not. These four elements include who is giving the information, what is being said, by what method is the information given, and to whom is it being told to. The Central Route to persuasion occurs when the focus is on the argument or evidence and people response with positive thoughts and/or feedback. This route is motivating when people care about an issue and want to talk about it. An example would be Global warming. People use scientific ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When you hear something over and over, you begin to believe it even if it s completely false. This happens a lot to people who are bullied. They begin to believe the lies their tormentor tells them, thus resulting in low self esteem. The audience is the last element and possibly the most important. You need to know all the characteristics of your audience; such as age, knowledge of the issue, and if they care or not about the argument. If your audience is young, you might want to steer clear of the central route because they probably won t care about the facts and figures of your argument. Research Developing or Supporting the ... When talking about strategy one will often find the name Michael Eugene Porter. His books, models, frameworks and theories are often seen as basics in the field of strategy. His most significant and popular framework is the five forces analysis (Porter, 1980). According to Whittington (1993), Porter is placed within the classic approach of strategy. In total he introduces four perspectives which are the classic, the evolutionary, the processual and the systemic. He argues that each perspective had an identifiable decade in which it was dominant. • 12. The Role Of Identity In S. Morgenstern s The Princess Bride What if? A question that many people find themselves asking. What if someone read Lord of The Rings instead of Harry Potter? Would they be attempting to learn Elvish instead of learning magic spells? In life, there are choices that have to be made. One or the other. The same applies to literature. For example, The Princess Bride, by S. Morgenstern. Readers of this novel may begin to ask themselves this very question. What if Westley did not reveal his identity to Buttercup when he fell down the ravine? How would this affect the remainder of the story? There are so many different ways that the story could have gone if the author had changed when Westley revealed his true identity. There are so many times and places where it would be logical for him to uncover his disguise, but it is up to the imagination to decide on the best way. S. Morgenstern in his work, The Princess Bride, demonstrates the ability to change by allowing the reader to modify his story with their own creative thoughts. In order to have several different outcomes to the story, someone must first take out the original written portion where Westley reveals his identity to Buttercup. After someone mentally erases everything that happened after Westley fell down the ravine, they can now think of all of the different possible outcomes. In the text, it states, Words followed her. Whispered from far, weak and warm and familiar. As... you... wish...(185). This is the original point in which he shows her his true identity. Now, what if he had fallen down the steep hill and said nothing? Based on Buttercup s instinct for survival and her powerful characteristics, one could assume that as soon as her attacker was no longer able to harm her, she would try her best to find her way back to safety. She made no effort to not consistently explain to all four of her assailants that her Prince would find and save her no matter how long it took, and knowing this, one would assume that she would wait for her Prince as long as she needed to. However, the main plot of the story revolves around murder and suicide, so Buttercup would either die from suicide, or be murdered by Prince Humperdinck on their wedding night depending on what horrible ... Apologetics New Generation Review 3: Sean McDowell, Apologetics for a New Generation (Harvest House, 2009) SUMMARY Apologetics for a New Generation is a compilation of essays from some of the greatest Christian minds geared towards answering the question: How do we use apologetics effectively to reach the new generations? It is clear that large numbers of youngsters view Christianity negatively. Relativism and postmodernism have eroded the mindset and values in our culture. Therefore, the immutable truths of Christianity need to be pitched differently to the current generation. Apologetics is more important than ever, but the manner in which we deliver truth is equally important: Christians must build relationships in the context of love, civility, wisdom and kindness ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... We need to retell the stories of old, the stories of Scripture and of Jesus Resurrection in ways that captivate the modern mind without compromising truth. This statement from Brian Godawa summarizes my take away from the book: The one who can tell the best story, in a very real sense, wins the epoch (131). As a left sided brain engineer (and not unlike Godawa), I expected my logical syllogisms to be devastating to atheism and that after seeing the undeniable logic in them, unbelievers would come to Christ in hordes. I am well aware that is unlikely to happen. I am convinced that the days when masses walk down the aisles in football stadiums to receive Christ are long gone. With the advent of relativism, postmodernism, and mass media, the modern apologist should adopt a distinct approach. From Apologetics for a New Generation and past experience I believe there are tree winning strategies for the modern apologist to win the new generations : (1) Storytelling: both Jesus and the Apostle Paul had the gift of storytelling. They took fact, encapsulated it in a context relevant and captivating story, and delivered it to those willing to hear. They were interesting, engaging, and truthful. They knew their culture and how to engage it. We ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Both had to contend with the ever growing presence of the Anglo Normans and were able to maintain some form of native rule throughout the period ( Gaelic lordly settlement 209). Furthermore, castles played a significant role in the proceedings whether built or captured and whether they were of native origins or Anglo Norman. This can be attributed to their capabilities of withstanding various scales of warfare and being one of the means of displaying lordly rank ( Settlement and Society 97). However, the functions, characteristics, and prevalence of castles are not necessarily uniform across the three groups. Using the historical and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Accordingly, the building styles of Welsh castles bear marked similarities to their Anglo Norman counterparts. (Davis 7) This resemblance, a scarcity of historical records from the Welsh, and the frequency with which the castles would change ownership make identifying sites built or occupied by the native Welsh problematic (30). This is compounded by multiple construction phases that would frequently, but not always, accompany changes in ownership and complicate the archaeological evidence. For example, Denbigh Castle in Gwynedd was originally a native castle that housed Llwelyn the Great and his grandson Dafydd ap Gruffudd, but its physical characteristics are lost to history due to the only remains belonging to a later castle built by Earl Henry de Lacy in 1282 (Davis 52). The remains of Welsh earthwork castles are considered to be indistinguishable from Anglo Norman. As a result, only 8.5% of the remaining castles accounted for in Wales, thirty six of the four hundred and twenty seven, are attributed to the Welsh. However, this percentage is not thought to reflect the totality of Welsh castles. (Chateau Gaillard 11) The start of Welsh castle building correspondingly occurs after 1066. Welshpool in Powys is the first castle recorded to have been built by the Welsh nobility. This would have presumably been accomplished after Cadwgan ap Bleddyn took over the region in ... Chekhov conveys this idea not through words but his use of beautifully detailed descriptions of the physical setting throughout each scene in the story. His use of symbolism when writing about the weather and scenery helps the reader understands what is going through Dimitri s mind each very moment. This part of the story is told by Chekhov s use of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Chekhov uses the weather in this scene in many ways, he begins the scene by stating it was sultry indoors he uses the word sultry and indoors to imply that being closed inside with Anna was causing sexual desires in Dimitri revealing that there was a great deal of sexual tension between the two of them. He continues to describe the setting by discussing the wind and the way it was moving. The wind symbolizes the change that has begun in Dimitri. How this affair was different from the many others he had before. Dimitri felt different about Anna his feelings were more pure and stronger than he had ever felt for any other woman. The movement of the wind is describing how Dimitri s who normally had control of himself had now found that he unable to control these new found emotions for Anna. Chekhov further describes the wind blowing peoples hats off showing the reader just how out of control these emotions really are. Dimitri s feelings for Anna were not ones that he welcomed just like one does not enjoy there hat being blown off their head. Dimitri is surly losing control of his own emotions in this scene and this was very new to the womanizer who looked down on woman. Dimitri s level of discomfort rises as Chekhov describes the day as parching showing the reader that Dimitri is unable to swallow due to his awkwardness in this situation and by ending the ... • 22. Mexican Artist Essay Mexican artists, more than most other artists in the Americas, exemplify the political and social obligations of artists. According to Soltes (2011), several Mexican artists of the early twentieth century were inspired by the revolutions and political unrest occurring in Mexico, which was reflected in their work. Diego Rivera (1886 1957) considered one of Mexico s Renaissance artists, influenced by European avant garde style, painted Zapatista Landscape (1915). This work was done as Rivera s tribute to the Mexican revolutionary Emiliano Zapata who had played a key role in the 1910 Mexican Revolution that had overthrown the then President Porfirio Diaz (Soltes, L43, 4:42). Soltes (2011) describes this work: very clearly we see a rifle; we see it s a sarape, together with a very stylized backdrop of water, mountains and sky, punctuated by a work that seems largely to emulate the synthetic cubist style of Picasso and Braque that we ve earlier discussed. One has the allusion indeed, that we are looking at a collage of geometric forms made of diverse materials imposed against that background of vague sea and sky (L43, 4:13). Although the Mexican ... • 25. Cons Of Human Cloning Introduction The topic of cloning has brought much debate in science and also in society. Many people believe that reproductive cloning would be beneficial while on the other hand, many people believe that it is too risky and unethical. Reproductive cloning has shown advantages and disadvantages to humanity, animals, and society. Through research and critical thinking, we will look at both the issues and the benefits that come with reproductive cloning. What is Cloning There are three different types of artificial cloning: gene cloning, reproductive cloning, and therapeutic cloning (Cloning Fact Sheet, 2017). Reproductive cloning is the process used when creating a copy of an animal or human. It can also occur in nature; which happens when mammals have identical twins. The application of somatic nuclear transfer technology to the creation of a human being that shares all of its nuclear genes with the person donating the implanted nucleus (Pros and Cons of Human Cloning, 2016). The process of reproductive cloning may seem relatively straightforward; however, there is a unique and rigorous process that goes into creating a clone. First, scientist remove a somatic cell from an animal that they wish to copy and then transfer the DNA from the cell into an egg cell. The egg then develops into an early stage embryo while still in a test tube. Scientists place the early stage embryo into an adult female animal s womb where it slowly develops. • 26. International Policy Essay III. Assessment As such we have three possible policy options, ranging from nearly total neutrality, to partial insertion into the conflict, and full out insertion into the conflict Policy Option I: Our first policy option is to continue the path we re now of lending only tentative support in the form of our public position stating that Russia entering Crimea was a break of international law. And with this not acting upon any real plan of moving forward. Short Term: In the short term, this policy may keep the peace for a short while. But by not enforcing international law, we risk the United Nations facing many more violations, as not enforcing this break, tells the rest of the world that the United Nations is a watchdog with now real ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Short Term: The short term affects include the large scale operation costs to provide these weapons and training to the Ukraine. With this we also risk backlash from Russia, from getting involved even covertly in this conflict. The desire, would be to accomplish this without Russia knowing, which is rather unlikely, and therefore, we would be risking whether they might retaliate against the United States. For this plan to work, we need to assure the Ukraine of the strength of our alliance, and must be willing to enter further into the conflict to support Ukraine in the backlash from Russia. As to not do so could very well result in a Bay of Pigs situation. Long Term: As for the long term affects, our greatest fear would lay on what we risk by putting weapons in the hands of the Ukrainian s. We ve seen several former Soviet states, with weapons supplied by Russia, from using these weapons further and in conflicts we disapprove of. To keep this from happening a close eye on the Ukraine would be required, once more draining resources further. In terms of long term peace, this option is the most fitting, with this retaining our alliances and possibly getting our desires in the end. Economically it is a larger blow than the first policy decision, but cheaper than full military intervention. We also have a greater chance of having plausible deniability if we support a counter insurgency plan over a full military action. This however ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In my research for one specific problem to write about pertaining this issue, I decided to encompass the entire project of Pakistan, which to many would be considered a massive failure on the part of the IMF and the ruling elite class of Pakistan. • 32. Punishment And Punishment In Education One of the basic human functions is to learn, whether it be a specific school subject or a behavior through observation. As one grows up, it is important to see how he or she was taught to treat people good, bad, honest, fair? How can violence be eliminated very early on in development? One form of learning is through punishment. Many times, punishment is used to inform a child or even an adult to not do a certain thing again while educating them on what is good or bad behavior considering the circumstance. Therefore, punishment is not only a teaching tool, but also a process that decreases the likelihood reoccurrence of a behavior (Hockenbury, S. E., Nolan, S. A, Hockenbury, D. H. 2015). As a young child, a punishment may have included taking away a desired toy or a treat that we wanted to obtain, such as going to the movies or getting McDonalds for dinner. It is easy to look back and reflect on past experiences of punishment that shaped us into who we are today. However, punishment is not simply a negative consequence of being a child; it can happen to people of all ages. For example, a punishment can be directed at adults who don t dress properly or arrive late to work. Punishment can be effective for all age groups because human beings are an imperfect species. It is never too late to improve one s behavior. Overall, the main purpose of punishment is to stop wrongdoings among all ages from happening repeatedly.
