Method
Participants
We recruited 18 undergraduate students from a California State University using
general class announcements and one campus posting. Participants were offered
academic credit or extra credit for participating. There were 3 men and 15 women
with ages that ranged from 20 27, (M = 22.89, SD = 1.84).
Materials
We used the mud splash paradigm to examine change blindness. Each trial consisted
of two Microsoft PowerPoint images. The first image was of a natural scene and
almost identical to the second image, but a small object was removed from the
central area of the scene in the changed image. Additionally the changed image was
nmasked with several high contrast mud splash s, similar to previous research
studies that have used the mud splash paradigm (O Regan et al., 1999), and covered

given rise to fanatical groups that pose complex challenges which threaten social

advantage as they struggle for the acceptance by the people of the state or region of

Setting
This research will take place in the office of a nursing registry; this office is located
on the third floor of a 30 floor multi office building. Upon walking into the office,
one immediately enters the main room, which leads to two other smaller rooms. The
rooms have an overall similar layout but retain some important differences. For

Elizabeth Loftus is a psychological scientist who discusses memories, specifically
false memories, in her TED Talk How reliable is your memory? Ultimately, Loftus
explains that it is possible to not only have false memories, but it is also possible to
feed people misinformation that in return alters one s memory. This concept of false
memories, and more broadly one s remembered past, is evident in a few films we
have studied in class. In both Solaris (Soderbergh) and Memento, improving one s
self knowledge was dependent on dealing with regret and guilt about one s
remembered past. Solaris follows the protagonist, Chris Kelvin, on his journey to
the space station with the goal of helping the scientists with an unspecified
experience aboard the station. Shortly after his arrival, Kelvin experiences the
strange experience firsthand when his deceased wife Rheya appears in the middle
of the night. At first, Kelvin believes she is a figment of his imagination, or perhaps
a dream, but soon he discovers she is real. Kelvin quickly decides to rid the station
of Rheya by sending her off in a separate skyrocket; yet, to Kelvin s surprise Rheya
materializes again that next night. In contrast, the second timeRheya emerges, Kelvin
decides not to kill her, but rather begins to question her existence. It is argued that
Solaris is able to reconstruct deceased ones from the memories of the scientists
aboard the station. This raises the following question: are the duplicates
materializing on the space station real people? Gordon has an unwavering opinion
that these creatures are not human, and thus, should be eradicated. However,
Kelvin has already resurrected his love with the duplicate of Rheya, and believes
he could be happier living a life with her. Surprisingly, it is Rheya that indicates she

The downfall of Enron also illustrates both the importance of corporate governance to
corporate performance, and the inherent susceptibility to corruption present in any
system of corporate governance. Further, from an international perspective, one is
tempted to ask whether the Enron debacle could happen in Europe or Japan or
whether it demonstrates a vulnerability unique to the U.S. system of corporate
governance. I have three observations to make on this issue. First and foremost, the
Enron fiasco demonstrates the acute pressure felt by U.S. corporate management to
produce superior performance results. As discussed later in this Article, Enron s
financial maneuvering, which led to the company s massive 2001 restatement of
earnings, was prompted only in 1997 when Enron came under significant pressure
from investors. Essentially, Enron s corporate performance was consistent for a
considerable period of time prior to 1997. 4 However, between 1996 and 1997, the
firm s profits and return on equity each declined by ninety percent. 5 The sudden
deterioration in performance pressured management to engage in transactions that
increased revenue and moved debt off of the firm s

The Personality Assessment And The Time Management
Section
At the beginning of the term, I thought this cornerstone course would only be about
how to get through college. When I actually settled into the class I realized that it
focuses more on getting to know ourselves better and how we can apply that to
school and our everyday lives. Cornerstone has deepened my knowledge about myself
as an individual. Although there were many topics that I found fun and interesting in
this cornerstone class, there were two that really stood apart from the rest: the
personality assessment and the time managementsection. They were the two most
relatable subjects.
The personality assessment that I took within the first two weeks of school, I found
beneficial to me. There was no right or wrong answer to the test; it was just used to
measure my personality and behavioral styles. I answered the questions to the best of
my self knowledge.
The assessment was enjoyable since it did not make me feel judged in the
classroom when we were told to discuss our personality types in groups. To my
understanding, the scores are just to show what type of career will be most suitable
for me.
Also, in class I Professor Newhouse reviewed Psychological Functions/ Attitudes
(Jung). The graph that I drew provided me with a more detailed understanding in
exactly what the letters in the personality types mean. I learned that extrovert and
introvert is how one relates to the outside world, sensor and intuitive is how one
perceive and gather information, whether one is a
