Play Therapy Is Used As A Modality
Play therapy was presented in class by Kallie Kraweitz, who was a guest speaker.
Ms. Kraweitz is in the process of completing her online Education in Counseling
and Play therapy from University of Mississippi. She is not an expert in the subject
but she is currently in the program and she came to share some basic information
that she has learned in her course work and also the experiences that she has acquired
during her journey in the course. She defined play therapyas the systematic use of
theoretical model to establish an interpersonal process wherein trained play therapist
use the therapeutic powers of play to help clients prevent or resolve psychological

When this is accomplished that is when the clinician is able to help their clients and
find intervention that will help elevate the problem. In addition, this is a way that the
clinician will establish a relationship with their client. By so doing the clients will be
able to establish trust with the clinician because without trust the client will not be
comfortable to share deep information about what is going on with them but when
they gain their trust, that is when the clinician will really get to know what is going
on with their client.
Still Alice is a movie that we watched in class. This movie is about a Harvard
psychologist named Alice Howland who is diagnosed with early onset Alzheimer
s disease at the peak of her career. We notice some symptom of disorder when she is
invited to speak at Stanford and she could not remember simple words during her
presentation and also when she went to Los Angeles to visit her daughter Lydia,
she becomes forgetful and when she returns home to Cambridge and she goes for a
run and she forgets her way home and although she eventually remembers her way
and she gets home. Alice does not think that she has Alzheimer, instead she thinks
that maybe it is menopause so she decided to make an appointment with a doctor to
find out what is going on with her. She does go to her appointment, the doctor does
not really know what is going on with her she they request for an MRI to be

George Orwell Politics And The English Language Analysis
In Politics and the English language, George Orwell portrays various tricks by
which the work of prose construction is habitually dodged. (Orwell 583). Orwell s
argument is the English language is being deformed by modern writers thus
mocking the use of the language. Orwell relates this topic to political and
economic issues to show how the use of English is critical with these aspects. He
refers to this topic as a reversible process (Orwell 581) if writers follow his six
rules; without them the writing contains staleness of imagery and lack of precision.
(Orwell 582). Orwell names these tricks: dying metaphors, operators or verbal false
limbs, pretentious diction, and meaningless words. In Shooting an Elephant, Orwell
uses these tricks to provide rhetorical motives. Orwell mentions He wears a mask,
and his face grows to fit it (Orwell 853) to refer to himself when he was a police man
in Moulmein, Burma.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Orwell states dying metaphors are in effect reverted to being an ordinary word and
can generally be used without loss of vividness. (Orwell 583). The comparison
between a man wearing a mask and the face of the man growing into the mask
negate each other causing this metaphor to be unclear. The negation kills the visual
image for the reader by making it unclear if the mask actually fits Orwell s face. If
the reader cannot picture the comparison of a metaphor, it fails to have meaning
which is classifies it as a dead
Problems Of The Weimar Republic In The 1920s
In the 1920s, the Weimar republic faced many problems such as strong political
opposition, social and economic problems. Another major problem was the
weakness within, which gave the States, the army and the president too much power
and the proportional voting created a divided weak Reichstag. The system of
proportional voting led to 28 different parties in the Reichstag which heavily crippled
decision making. During 1919 23 there were multiple attempts to overthrow the
government. Those attempts were led by extremist, the biggest example were the
communist Spartacist revolt and a nationalist Kapp putsch. Due to the Army being
led by a nationalist General, Hans von Seeckt, it failed to support the government in
crucial times such as the crisis of 1923. Another major problem was the takeover and
states such as Bavaria by the communist in 1919 and the 1923 Kapp putsch. Major
economic problems hit in 1923 when France... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

In the 1920s, the Treaty of Versailles was seen by general population like a shame
and humiliation that was considered a diktat . He used points like not having to pay
for reparations and using that money instead to invest in Germany to rebuild the
nation. He also promised to re take land taken from the Germans after their defeat
and finally he promised to re arm the country so it would no longer be bullied in
the future and be a force to be reckoned with. His promises gained massive support
from the people of Germany who felt they had been ruined and accused by the west
and the Treaty of Versailles. Hitler s Plans and promises to reverse the Treaty of
Versailles greatly increased his popularity thus being a significant point in his rise to
power. But without the Munich putsch Hitler would have stayed in the dark, thus the
Munich putsch can be seen as a foundation to his rise to power, like his podium

My Footprint Size
My footprint size is a medium that states it is about 7.13 city blocks, and the U.S.
National Average is also medium but two footprints from being high and it also
shows about 12.38 city blocks. Although there could be adjustments to shrink my
footprint such as reducing my shower time to 7 minutes instead of 10 minutes
because I could save 7.5 gallons of water. I can save 3 7 gallons of water every
time I do not flush the toilet, instead let it mellow when it is yellow. Another
adjustment would be to swap clothes with friends or family to reduce ecological
footprint rather than buying new clothes. Furthermore, since I drive a distance to
work five days a week it would be helpful to consolidate car errands in one day to
reduce fuel rather than
Montage Of A Dream Deferred By Langston Hughes
Many of the poems within Montage of a Dream Deferred by Langston Hughes
contain great meaning as well as emotion embedded within them. Whether they are
3 lines or 20 lines long, vivid images and explanations follow. The main focus of the
series of poems are centralized on African Americans living in Harlem in the 20 s and
on and their opposition from the rest. The motif in nearly all poems express
discrimination, daily activities, and African Americans struggle for equality. Out of
all poems, certain ones such as Theme for English B , Ballad of the Landlord , and
Harlem #2 stood out. These short poems have a similar correlation carrying the same
meaning and or idea.
In the poem Theme for English B , a black student is asked to ... Show more content

He concludes with As I learn from you, I guess you learn from me although you re

student realizes that not only does the teacher have the ability to teach, but even the
students can teach the teacher something they never knew regardless if he/she is
older, white, and more free than he is. Langston Hughes states that all Americans are
shaped and defined differently and there is no specific way to be an American.
Moving on to the second poem; Ballad of the Landlord , we see back and forth
conversations between a white landlord and his unhappy black tenant. The black
tenant tries explaining the poor conditions of his apartment. Flaws such as broken
steps, and the leaking roof are examples of imagery. The black tenant tells his
landlord that he won t be able to talk after he lands his fists on him. Without a
further ado, the white tenant calls the police and the black tenant instantly gets
arrest and sentenced to 90 days in county jail with no bail. Hughes expresses a
theme of injustice for the black race in comparison to how the white race is favored
and carry unfair power in society. It is easily said that the condition of the apartment
explains the quality of a black person s justice: broken.
Lastly, in the poem Harlem #2 , the speaker right off the bat tosses many rhetorical
questions that the reader can ponder on. What happens to a dream deferred? Does it

Why Did France Really Need Three Revolutions Of The
20th...
The French have an illustrious history of Revolutions. Ever since the revolution of
1789, it seems as if the French cannot maintain one system of government. They are
often caught between the interests of the people and liberalism, while fighting
against the self interests of the elite. Often the revolutions would run countercurrent
to the previous one. The revolutions of the 20th century were no different. Karl Marx
had said that each revolution is merely a re imagining of the original revolution of
1789. That does not seem to be evident in the revolutions of the 20th century. Why
did the French ultimately need three revolutions merely to return to their liberalist
ideology? The answer seems to stem from French political reality after the... Show

This had been burgeoning since the Popular Front of the 1930 s to the treatment of
workers under Vichy. Interestingly, however, it gained most of its power from
University students scared for their future. The shift of power to the radical left
was beginning again. Idealistic fervor had returned to counter the morbid realism of
Vichy with slogans such as Be realistic, demand the impossible. Communists and
union leaders allied against the strike, unprepared to give into their demands of
higher wages. De Gaulle even considered using the military to put down the
movement. De Gaulle was seen as too authoritarian at this point in time. He, much
like Petain, had outlived his usefulness. His philosophy, would at least survive, as
the French desired Gaullism without De Gaulle. Then again, Petain s rhetoric of ant
immigrant, anti foreigner lives on today as seen in The Class, and in the popularity
of the National Front. The movement of 1968 would ultimately not achieve
antyhign of note. The movement ended before it could escalate into a true
revolution. Perhaps, however, it did lay the final blow on De Gaulle who would cede
the Presidency in 1969 and die just a year
Greek Women In Euripides s The Trojan Women
Euripides s tragedy play The Trojan Women took place in the now destroyed and
mutilated city of Troy, after the mythological Trojan War and the historical
Peloponnesian War. This play was the last of a trilogy that Euripides wrote
concerning the events of the leading up to Trojan War, the war itself, and the
aftermath . The two leading Greek city states at the time, Athens and Sparta, are
the ones who are involved in the almost three decades of conflict, leaving the
Greek sphere in pieces and cities destroyed and Athens was left bankrupt, exhausted
of all resources, and demoralized from losing much of everything . The main causes
of this war began with the Spartans fear of Athens growing power and prosperity to
build bigger and better naval ships, and the construction of massive buildings and the
construction of the Long Wall that outlined their territories . The Trojan Women
focused on the captured women of Athens s point of view of the aftermath of the
war and how they portrayed the Spartan soldiers as barbarians instead of heroic
beings like they are in The Odysseyor The Iliad. Throughout Euripides s The Trojan
Women, he came across a circumstance that occurred in order to make his main
points in the play about the horrors of war, Greek s relationships with the Greek
Gods, and the role of women in Greek society. The circumstance that Euripides
encountered was the ability to combine multiple literary works and format some of
the characters, events, and topics into
Evolution Of Modern Pirates
When you think of a pirate, do you see a hardy peg legged swashbuckler who
roamed the seven seas searching for the finest loot? While this stereotypical
description may have fit many past pirates, it is certainly obsolete for modern
pirates like Asad Booyah Abdulahai. These new age bandits have advanced from
the antiquated image of the pirate because of the Somalia rebellion, and this allowed
people like Abdulahai to rise to power and control the seas at one time. However,
they may be resurfacing from their brief extinction. Unlike buccaneers in the past,
many of these new pirates were concentrated around the Horn of Africaon the shores
of Somalia. The 1991 civil war in Somalia, which overthrew the current system of
government, left it to be a hub for nefarious actions. As the Somali government and
its services began to diminish, many saw piracy as a way to escape the collapsing
economy. One reporter stated that because of the chaos brought about from the
failing government, Somali waters have become the site of an international free for
all (Tharoor, 1). Prosperous harbors where a resident could have made a decent
living became cesspits of pirate and criminal activities. In 2013, most of the... Show

Failure Of Congestive Heart Failure
Approximately 2 3 million Americans, more than one percent of the population, are
currently affected by this medical problem with numbers increasing frequently (Drug
Store News, 1997). Congestive heart failure tends to be more common in the elderly,
men, and also African Americans. Congestive heart failure has become the most
common cause for current hospital admissions. Among causing prolonged hospital
stays congestive heart failure has a very high mortality rate, which has declined since
recent medical advancements.
So what is congestive heart failure? A simple definition is the heart s inability to
pump blood to the rest of the body but it goes way beyond that. The body s natural
mechanisms try to compensate for the changes that ... Show more content on

This negative feedback loop in most conditions is good, but with congestive heart
failure it forces the heart to work harder causing advancement of the disease.
Right sided heart failure consists of the heart unable to pump blood to the lungs.
This can cause right ventricular hypertrophy, and fluid will start to back up into the
body causing edema where gravity determines. Lying down may cause edema in
the buttocks and flank areas but most commonly people see edema in their ankles
and legs along with increase weight gain over short periods of time. This type of
congestive heart failure is still very important and should be seen by a physician to
prevent further problems, because patients with right sided heart failure are at high
risk for left sided heart failure.
Signs and symptoms of congestive heart failure can range from mild to severe. They
also can be associated with many other disease processes making congestive heart
failure harder to diagnose. Even most doctors have to run numerous amounts of tests
to confirm the diagnosis without 100% certainty. Patients may present with shortness
of breath, rales (fluid in lungs), peripheral or pulmonary edema, dizziness, fatigue,
dyspnea on exertion, rapid and excess weight gain, jugular venous distention, reduced
ejection fraction, severe hypertension or hypotension, and failed stress tests (Drug
Store News, 1997). These symptoms are not specific enough for a clear diagnosis so
additional testing is usually

No Place At Hide By Glenn Greenwald
No Place to Hide by Glenn Greenwald is about the National Security Agency (NSA),
an agency of the United States government. The primary purpose of the NSA is to
gather and analyze information with the intent of preserving the national security and
the safety of the citizens, especially from terroristic threats. In 2013, Edward
Snowden, a contractor working for the NSA released classified informationwhich
showed that the agency was spying on Americans and collecting information without
a warrant, which is against the law and Americans basic rights. Greenwald was one
of the first journalists that Snowden had contacted when he was looking to leak the
information. No Place to Hide is an account of all of the events leading up to, during,
and after the news broke. An important basis of the book is the Fourth Amendment
and the significance that Americans place on their right to privacy:
The right of the people to be secure in their person, houses, papers, and effects,
against unreasonable searches, seizures, shall not be violated, and no warrants shall
issue, but upon probable cause, supported by oath or affirmation, and particularly
describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized
(Greenwald, 3).
Many believed that their Fourth Amendment rights were being violated by the Patriot
Act and the mass overreaching of the information that the NSA collected. The Patriot
Act was signed into action in 2001 shortly after 9/11 and was meant to protect the

In Certain Cases Porter s Diamond of Competitive
Advantage...
Introduction
Since its publication in 1990, Michael Porter s book The Competitive Advantage of
Nations has attracted much consideration. The main analytical tool of the book is the
diamond of competitive advantage (figure 1). This model is based on four country
specific determinants and two external variables. Porter s four determinants and two
outside forces interact in a diamond of competitive advantage, with the nature of a
country s international competitiveness depending upon the type and quality of these
interactions. However, because it is fundamentally a home based model of
international competitiveness, the diamond theory is criticized by many international
business scholars. Dunning , and Rugman ¬, ¬¬ point out that the ... Show more

This arrangement suggests that the Canadian diamond need to be considered jointly
with the U.S. diamond, i.e. that Canadian managers need to operate in this double
diamond framework. Indeed, Rugman and D Cruz propose that a North American
diamond be used by Canadian managers and policy makers to improve Canada s
international competitiveness.
MEXICO
Mexico s economic future is closely linked to that of the United States and, through
NAFTA, North America. When analysed in terms of Porter s diamond some of the
country s strategic clusters have already developed world wide competitive strength.
During the 1990s the petroleum and automotive clusters proved to be highly
competitive. As in its automotive success, this development is less a result of
technological prowess as it will be the country s favourable factor conditions, related
and supporting industries, demand conditions, and the structure and rivalry of firms.
As before, Mexico will find that it can link its diamond framework with that of the
United States and in the process become a worldwide competitor in many other areas.
The primary advantage of using the double diamond is that it forces business and
government leaders to think about management strategy and public policy in a
different way. No longer is the domestic diamond the unit of analysis, as in Porter s
single diamond framework. The proper perspective now becomes that of identifying
successful and potentially viable

For my discovery event, I went on a tour of The California Health Care Facility in
Stockton. I selected this event because I was very curious to know what it was like
to work in a prison setting. My desire for future work settings has been between a
nursing facility and prison facility. Before the visit I expected to know how a group
was done in lower level prison and the safetyprecautions implemented. The facility
tour was lead by CTRS John Widenmann and Gaganjot Singh. The first thing we
toured was there medical mall building where all the prisons went to thee
appointments for physical therapyoccupational therapy, dentist, diagnostics, x rays
and medical needs. John told us that some inmates walk with out a guard because
they have a card to specify where there suppose to be. If they refuse to go to there
appointment than force is used too make them. Along the tour he mentioned that
the rec therapists sees the inmate five time more in a week than other members of
a treatment team. We were able to visit a facilitation room, which had a class for
inmates to do artwork. One of the CTRS on staff mentioned that it is hard to have
supplies for the art projects. After touring the medical facilities, we walked a long
way to the prison area, dorm area and workspace where the recreation therapist ran
groups. John showed us their offices that over looked the play yard for some
prisoners. This can be good for therapist to observe behaviors and actions of the

Nathaniel Hawthorne Influence On Religion
Nathaniel Hawthorne was one of the best fiction authors of the 1800 s, and is still

(.....)The plot of the story starts out as the protagonist Hester is being charged for
adultery after having a kid with someone she was not married to. Puritans believed
in branding the Scarlet A on those charged with adultery to let it be known that
they are damned to hell. Hester believes that her husband died at sea, but he has
hidden in secrecy, and is practicing medicine by the name of Roger Chillingworth.
Ironically, he was in attendance at the scaffold while Hester was being branded the

a couple years later the court tried to take away Hester s child, she managed to keep
custody with the help of the minister, Dimmesdale. Ironically Dimmesdale, starts
developing health problems and Chillingworth moved in to help medicate him. The
story then reveals that Dimmesdale is the father. Dimmesdale met Hester in the
woods one night, and planned to leave Boston. Then the story takes a drastic turn
for the worse as the day they planned to leave, Dimmesdale went to the scaffold to
confess his sin then immediately died of a stroke. In this story Hawthorne uses

The Nubians Who are the Nubians? Nubians are people of northern Sudan and
southern Egypt. Their history and traditions can be traced to the dawn of civilization.
They settled first along the banks of the Nile from Aswan. Along the Nile, they
developed one of the oldest and greatest civilizations in Africa until they lost their last
kingdom five centuries ago. The Nubians remained as the main rivals to the
homeland of Africa s earliest black culture with a history that can be traced from 3800
B.C. onward through the monuments and artifacts. Ancient Nubia was a land of great
natural wealth, gold mines, ebony, ivory and incense that its neighbors always prized.

The Egyptians promoted the belief the primary form of their god dwelt inside the

Egyptians identified their pre existing god from the land of Nubia as a local form
of their own supreme god Amun who was considered to be the important source of
the royal power of Egypt and Kush. The city of Meroe located on the east bank of

material employed in Nubia and Egypt. Primitive drawings and engravings on
Nubian pottery had a form identified of some geometric and symbolic patterns.
These forms have been used on the surface of decorated pottery such as circles,
squares, or triangles which represented the initial signs of most ancient civilizations.
During the Neolithic period, people of this time covered their tools and pottery
products with different forms, not particularly of art, but rather for recording their
idea of life. Although these forms represent hidden symbols with no clear meaning,
its purpose or goal was to help unleash the human mind while imagining its
Emotional Intelligence By Daniel Goleman
The members of this group collaborated through email after the reading groups were
assigned through email. A Google Doc was then created to publish brief ideas about
the book once read. The members then through email again divided up the sections of
this book review to complete the rough draft of the assignment. Once completed,
members were able to comment and edit each section. The group finalized the project
through email.
Synopsis Daniel Goleman, author of Emotional Intelligence, discusses the idea of
intelligence being more than a matter of cognitive ability. In part one and two of the
book, Goleman discusses how the brain processes emotions. In these chapters the
author describes the cortex and the limbic system. Rationality is job of the cortex
while the limbic system processes your emotions. He suggests that the emotional
intelligence can be a learned skill. In the next chapter Daniel Goleman uses studies
to show that many high IQ scoring students have underperformed in their lives while
many average people have become huge successes. Goleman stated that if the IQ
scoring has little to do with success and that your 80% success is based on your
emotional intelligence.
He describes self awareness or self observation. He says that you should know
yourself and your strengths instead of your IQ test and its results. He suggested that
some people are more attuned to the emotional mind s symbols instead of traditional
knowledge tested by IQ tests. However, Goleman

been an extensive investigation of the language itself. That is what this paper
proposes to do. Even though Holden s language is authentic teenage speech,
recording it was certainly not the major intention of Salinger. He was faced with the
artistic task of creating an individual character, not with the linguistic task of
reproducingthe exact speech of teenagers in general: Yet Holden had to speak a

Comparing Dante Alighieri s Inferno And The Faerie
Queene
Both Dante Alighieri s Inferno and Edmund Spenser s The Faerie Queene depict
wooded forests wrought with transformed men as trees. In the Inferno and The Faerie
Queene an existential conundrum of compromised identities leaves Pier della Vigne
and Fraudubio sans human choice. Dehumanized and disfigured, the individuals that
comprise the trees still retain human qualities like talking, breathing, and, even,
bleeding under certain circumstances. Within each space, whether it is considered a
definite locus amoenus or a locus horribilis, the most significant human attribute to
which these trees cling is bleeding and thus they have a small handful of feelings and
emotions still within each of them. Instead of their ripped branches symbolizing
death and decay, the breaking of the branches within Inferno13 and The Faerie
Queene1.2, give the trees life as if nothing has changed. While the bleeding infers a
loss of identity in both, redeemable only for one of the two, it also lets their stories
be told. Their stories, sad in nature, have redemptive qualities and move the two
pilgrims that listen to their doleful tales. The Inferno illustrates the journey of Dante
the pilgrim as he travels through the nine circles of Hell wherein each circle
objectifies a specific sin like lust, gluttony, greed or violence; there the sinners endure
eternal punishment. In the seventh circle, the circle of violence, Dante interacts with
the suicides and profligates. Condemned to live eternally as
A Great Variety Of Gender Construction
Daniel Lindsey
Professor Hogue
HIST 449

Essay One Throughout our class, we have seen a great variety of gender construction.
Through centuries of gender divides, there have been women who created for
themselves and that of their community new identities that not only grew local and
worldwide attention, but have inspired historians for centuries. In the case of
Malinche, she used her womanhood to secure her spot with Cortes, as he conquered
and ruled over the Aztecs. Ursela de Jesus contributed to the
Catholic church of her time, and made a new ideal for servant hood as a woman in the
church.
Yet not all of these experiences were positive; trials and tribulations often faced
Malinche and
Ursela. Through the occcurences of these women it is evident that no matter the
circumstance or outcome, women face a double standard, yet in certain cases use
their knowledge to work past these standards. Malinche was multilingual. Because of
her advanced preoccupation with learning languages and using the detailed
experiences of her family background, she was able to advance
Cortes and his army. Upon analyzing the way in which Malinche furthered Cortes,
one can deduce that throughout her life, she was held to an unfair standard of life
expectations, simply because she was a women. When the Spanish came to take
women from indigenous communities, kin leaders often gave in to the wishes of the
Spanish, first to save themselves from oppressive rule and next

Analysis Of The Poem Katherine Mansfield
Introduction: Katherine Mansfield was a well acclaimed author born in 1888. Her
literature was in the form of short stories spanning no more than several passages
long. Many dub her as an innovator in literature for her distinctive use of realism and
symbolism which at the time was foreign to short stories and writing in general. Most
authors at the time fabricated fictional worlds with fantastic characters in their stories
but Mansfield was more interested in writing and emerging her audience into stories
about realistic people in everyday environments facing internal struggle, which gained
her much attention. Many of her pieces are also autobiographical as they subtly
reference many moments and mixed emotions that Katherine had... Show more

Ms Sheridan and her family are almost unconsciously obsessed by all things
pristine and beautiful, which is where Laura stands outs. She begins to see a new
type of world that she was originally timid of as she was permitted to stay away
from people of less fortune. But after she encounters the workmen preparing the
marquee and witnesses there unexpected unintimidating kindness she instantly
turns a new leaf. Appearance also plays a big part in society, if you are not well
received at first glance or dress in a specific way, you will most likely be
stereotyped before you even introduce yourself. Its an arrogant act that is still very
present today. A prime example of this is where Laura complains to her sister Jose
about canceling the party due to the very recent death of a local working man. Joses
response, You won t bring a drunken worker back to life by being sentimental and
Laura then furiously replys with Drunk!, who said he was drunk! .Laura is very

The Theory Of Management Theory And Practice
Conrad Hilton Sr. once said Success seems to be connected with action. Successful
people keep moving. They make mistakes but they don t quit (Our Hospitality
Leaders, 2013). Conrad Hilton attributes his success in business to his management
philosophy of treating people fairly. Conrad was a people oriented person, hiring
and empowering his managers to make important decisions for the hotel. He
encouraged and supported his employees to provide excellent service for the
travelers and customers staying, and doing business in the hotel. This philosophy can
also serve as a simplistic way of defining management: organizing and coordinating
daily business activities to achieve organizational goals. Since the early 1900 s
several methodologies have been used to explain the nuts and bolts , and processes of
management theory and practice. Throughout the evolutionary process of
management theory and practice four major schools and approaches have been
identified: the classical approach, the behavioral approach, the management science
approach, and contemporary approach. The classical approach to management is the
oldest school of thought dating back to the late 1890 s and losing favor by the 1940
s. The contributions to the classic school of management included increasing
productivity of the organization, and that of the worker, as well as providing the
framework for management of diverse organizations. This methodology was a
marriage of scientific, administrative, and
Cosimo De Medici
The fifteenth century gave rose to theearly Renaissance. Florence, which is the capital
of the Tuscan region, was the most prominent during this time. Before the
Renaissance, thinkers such as Aristotle and other Christian philosophers impacted
most of the ideas and ways of life in Florence. However during the 15th century, new
thinkers started to emerge and fell under the influence of a richer class of ancient
authors than had ever been seen in the Middle Ages. One man in particular named
Cosimo de Medici became famous for his contribution to Florentine art and culture
by taking political and economic risks, becoming a patron of the arts, and being
named Pater patriae of Florence. Cosimo de Medici came from the Medici family

Under Cosimo, Brunelleschi also built the Pazzi Chapel. Brunelleschi s theories
were shared by Florence s humanist elite, who found religious significance in
mathematical harmony. Both they and Brunelleschi believed that a well ordered
building such as the Pazzi Chapel mirrors God s plan of the universe (Matthews and
Platt, 308). Cosimo had created council that brought together the greatest thinkers,
artists and churchmen. The news of the new Rome had spread quickly and many
people came from distant lands to see it. Cosimo set up lectures of Plato and other
well known thinkers and displayed the new artwork and sculptures throughout the
dome. He was considered a patron of the arts as he had encouraged and bought
artwork from many artists to display in his cathedral and chapel. As stated in The
Medici: Godfathers of the Renaissance Cosimo became the most sought after Patron
in Florence. Patronage is a political strategy but is considered very irrational from an
economic point of view. Artists however needed patrons because only patrons would
buy their art. Cosimo had gathered an immense amount of art during his reign. He
spent his money on books, paintings, sculptures and palaces, and, claiming to be the
common man s friend, he was eventually awarded the title Pater patriae, Father of His
Country a Roman title revived during the Renaissance (Matthews and Platt,

In order to make the vapor rub bath bomb you will need one cup of baking soda, a
half of cup of vapor rub, a half of tablespoon of lemon, one tablespoon of water,

An interesting fact about baking soda is that it is known to improve skin

while still mixing with a spoon. Next add a half tablespoon of lemon juice again

Analysis Of Quarantine The Loners
The book Quarantine the loners starts out with the main character David who
figures out his girlfriend Hillary has been cheating on him with one of his
teammates from his football team. David s mother did about a year back and
David s girlfriend said he hasn t been the same ever since she passed away and
Hillary wouldn t wanna be with David anymore. The next day David and Will were
heading back to school which was a new school with the same teachers and students
just a new school. Right as David and Will enter the school another part of it
explodes a canopy has been dropped on top of the school, soldiers rush in and tell the
students they have been Quarantined because of a virus the teen has that could kill
others and infect them the teen has came there from a local testing facility. The
virus can kill or spread to anyone of any age or size when coming close to the

Rachel Syme Why Web Series Are Worth Watching Analysis
People all want that heart stopping WOW moment in their lives, and art can easily

The Correctional Facilities industry primarily operates through the leasing and
managing of prisons and juvenile detention centers in the United States. The
Industry has grown 5.3 billion dollars in revenue in the five years leading up to
2016. (Hollaren 2016). This statistic is partially caused by factors related to capacity

their success by reaching up to 100 percent occupancy in their facilities through

the revenue for the correctional facilities industry is expected to grow at an 0.6%

terms of revenue as long as the crime rate in the United States stays anywhere near as

Prometheus And Zeus Start From Different Sides Of An...
Originating from different sides of an ancient and bloody war, Prometheus and Zeus
start from different ends of a spectrum. As a young god, Zeus is thereby a young
ruler. His inexperience in ruling is obvious. Zeus had established his reign by
violently overthrowing his father in a bloody war and spread his rule through
subjugation. By imprisoning Cronusand the Titans in Tartarus and appointing his
relatives and children in positions under him, Zeusforcefully raised himself into the
position of a supreme ruler. Zeus knows no methods apart from vigorous and
powerful ones in order to maintain his authority. In the beginning of the play in which
Prometheusis being chained to a rock, Power and Force act as agents of Zeus and
command Hephaestus. Zeus is defined by strength and harshness. They are the
characteristics that have exalted him to his high position as a supreme ruler and
they are now used to pave his way toward absolute dominance. He is harsh, as all
those new to power are harsh (Aeschylus 2). Zeus s cruel methods are noticed and
even criticized by those who serve him. However, none oppose him because of the
fear Zeus instilled into them. And all the same I am required to bear it: it s hard to
set aside my father s words (Aeschylus 2). Hephaestus shows discontent towards
Zeus s decisions and only shows obedience because he is afraid of Zeus. Though he
does not oppose Zeus, he sympathizes with Prometheus as he chains him to a rock.

The Pros And Cons Of Genetically Modified Foods
As the spread of commercialized genetically modified foods (GMF) products rise,
the number of people exposed to genetically modified foods incline globally. The
term genetically modified foods can be used interchangeably with transgenic foods,
genetically engineered crops (GE) and Recombinant DNA technology and therefore
defined as the enhancement of foods in which a gene of interest from one organism
is extracted and inserted into the target organisms. (1) The genes of interest may be

Body Evidence 1: In terms of its conservational effects, toxicity is a massive matter
regarding GM crops. More than 80% of all genetically modified crops grown
worldwide have been engineered for herbicide tolerance. As a result, the use of
toxic herbicides, such as Roundup, has increased fifteenfold since GMOs were
first introduced. (3) GM crops create toxins in the soil wherever they are planted.
When toxic residues are released into the soil through the GM crop, toxins can
prevent the growth of good bacteria that are essential for plant growth.
Consequently, there are fewer soil bacteria, which are integral to the healthy soil
for plants to grow without the use of chemical fertilizers. Nutrients are not returned
to the soil, thus leaving the soil dry and void of all vital nutrients for growth. When
GM crops are planted, generally in a monocrop fashion, traditional seeds are no
longer used. Framers then become accustomed to the GMO seeds creating a cycle
of dependence on GMO seeds and chemical fertilizers, pesticides, and herbicides to
grow a single crop. In addition to soil issues, the irrigation used to grow GM foods
naturally carries all of these problems into water sources and into the air. (3) This
exposes different bacteria, insects, and animals to the same problems. Thus, creating

Comparing Jurisdiction And Venue
Jurisdiction vs. Venue Jurisdiction and venue are both very important factors in the
court of law. Jurisdiction is the authority given by law to a court to try cases and
rule on legal matters within a particular geographic area and over certain types of
legal cases. Venue on the other hand is the proper or most convenient location for
trial of a case, usually the district of county where the crime was committed.
Jurisdictionand venue share similarities as well as differences. These two are
similar because they both deal with the location of the case, however they are
different because jurisdiction deals more so with power, and venue refers to the
county or district within a state of the U.S. where the lawsuit is to be tried. In some

Examples Of Dehumanization In Survival In Auschwitz
The book, Survival in Auschwitz, depicts the story of an Italian Jew in a a

While the Nazis try to destroy the men in many ways throughout the course of this
novel, the two things that demonstrate their dehumanization most strongly, are? the
process the prisoners undergo upon arrival at the camp, and the way the selections of
who will live or die are carried out. The German officers first dehumanize the

Celtic Mythology Research Paper
Trees are silent guards, they are listeners and they hold knowledge mankind has
long forgotten. A culture that once was all across Europe to nearly facing
extinction amazingly survived thousands of years. Celtic Mythology was more
than just whimsical stories to it s people it was a way of life, including tales of these
gods and goddesses who served a purpose of meaning the world and the qualities of
a good person. First, the history of Celtic Mythologytraces back centuries ago. For
example, there is a long history of their people. At their height they were a large
and diverse group that was spread out all across Central Europe. After the Start of
christianity however, the popularity or Celtic went down. Also, scientists have
discovered many different celtic villages. The Hallstatt village in Austria is the
oldest one of its kind ever found and many different celtic artifacts have been found
there. This is why the early stages of Celtic Mythology was known as the Hallstatt
era. Another village in Switzerland called La Tene also had many artifacts uncovered
there and is also is why the second phase of the celtswas known by same name.

The Harp was believed to be a common instrument among the celts and is now the
national emblem of Ireland. The oldest surviving celtic harps date back to the 15th
century but the music of the harp has been an important emblem or Ireland since
the 10th century (ireland calling.com). Also, as the celtic belief goes, everything
comes in threes which brings us to another iconic symbol... the shamrock. It s
believed to have mythical powers and was even used by Saint Patrick to spread the
teachings of christianity. That s just a few of the reasons why it s the national flower
of Ireland. Overall, Celtic culture is still evident today from its

Animal Captivity Dilemma
The Dilemma of Animal Captivity Animal captivity is an extremely important, and
often overlooked problem that we, as human beings, have placed on nature and the
animals that live in the endangered environment. There are groups of people
worldwide who are extremely against animal captivity because of the drastic and
permanent effects it leaves on the animals. These ideas of hatred against animal
captivity are expressed in small ways such as posting a picture on Instagram that
represents animal cruelty in captivity. Another way these ideas can be expressed is
through large representations such as movies. Films such as Jurassic World and
Blackfish are prime examples of this. Both of these films are representing the severe
repercussions that can come from keeping large, dangerous animals in captivity.
Though Jurassic World is a fictional movie, it is able to send the message that
having animals that are dangerous in captivity is something that is very dangerous.
Blackfish offers a real and terrifying glimpse into what happens to the mindset of
animals who are put into captivity and the threat that those animals pose to not only
other animals in captivity but also the humans who are in charge of looking after
these animals. This problem of taking animals away from their natural habitat and
placing them in captivity is a prime example of how humanity is trying to assert
itself as dominant of everything else. Mankind has thought of itself as a protector of
the wild animals by
Comparing Buddha s Noble Eightfold Path And Four Noble
Truth
1.The Buddha s Noble Eightfold Path and Four Noble Truth are basically the Ten
Commandments. Ideas and thoughts of not lying comes from Revelations 21:8 All
liars go to hell. Noble Eightfold Path says no lusting, not stealing, not bring harm to
another are all identifications the Western bible gives us. Also Westerns know about
suffering, we know that Christ let s suffering happen to us because, in our eyes God
is in control and God can work it out. 2.Students received rejection because they didn

Amish Shunning Practices
America is filled with multiple cultures from different parts of the world. The most
secretive culture is the Amish. Amish do not use modern day technology, and they
have strict rules to follow. If anyone breaks those rules, they receive a punish that is
more severe than we would imagine. Shunning, the punishment, affects different parts
of Amish life. The first main point is shunning is the practice of avoiding, ignoring,
or rejecting through antipathy or caution. This practice is used to keep the Ordung,
Amish rules, from being corrupt by whomever went against the church (Hostetler
2010). Shunning is a form of discipline, and is not taken lightly within the church.
Outsiders would see this practice as cruel, when it is used to maintain a... Show more

The sinner and anyone they love are affected by the punishment of being shunned
(Mission to Amish People 2015). For example, close friends, parents, children, and
spouses must not interact with the shunned member whether it be a business
transaction or simply just eating dinner together (Groberman 2008). The shunned
may attend any family gather, but they must sit at a different table as the rules require
them to do (Shunning 2007). Any business must be avoided with shunned members,
unless a third party is handling the money (Zavada 2015). 1 Corinthians 5:8 verse
states that, You must not associate with anyone who claims to be a brother or sister,
but is sexually immoral or greedy, an idolater or slander, a drunkard or a swindler. Do
not even eat with such people. Romans 16:17 verse states, I urge you, brothers and
sisters, to watch out for those who cause divisions and put obstacles in your way that
are contrary to the teaching you have learned. Keep away from them. In conclusion,
many may think that the Amish are the only ones that shun or excommunicate their
fellow members, but that s not true. The Catholic Church will also excommunicate
their members for sinning. The Amish church is based on multiple Christian
principles, and shunning is used to uphold those beliefs. Punishment for Amish
church members affects many aspects of their daily
Internet vs Television
Internet vs Television
The internet is more convenient than television when it comes to knowledge. The
internet has more to offer than television, however television provides more
accuracy. When I say that the internet is more convenient, I mean you can look for
what to what and there s a good chance you will find it. If you re looking for things
like a TV show, a video, or even a movie you re most likely to find it. While television

Reflection On Improving My Writing Composition
As a student in High School, my writing composition was not very well developed.
Although, I got help from my teachers, in addition to that, on my free time I went to
the library to make extra corrections that were needed. My dad also helped me all
throughout high school by reading over my essays and making comments on what I
need to improve on, but even then I believe that my writingcould have improved. I
have tried to find strategic ways to improve my writing and I believe that I may
slowly be getting there. One of my strong points as a writer, which could also be seen
as a weak point according to my teachers, is my research; I go in full depth with
details and my research is always accurate. I go too deep into my research which takes
The Wandering Map Activity Really Helped Me Set

The wandering map activity really helped me set everything out and figure out
what has led to what in my life. I love planning and seeing things visually, as I am a
visual learner, so this was honestly a good fit and little project for me to do. It
helped me know a little better that I am where I should be and I should be majoring
in English, based on my categories and themes. Some of the connections I
probably would have never made so I am glad I am able to piece all of it together
now. When I say it helped me know that I should be majoring in English, I don t
want you to get me wrong and think that I just randomly picked English out of all
the options in front of me at the time. I wasn t too far on the fence about not
majoring in English and finding something else. Although, I did still have that
little voice in my head that kept saying, Hey, are you sure about this? You can t
even decide what Chic Fil A sauce to use for your fries and chicken nuggets. Yes,
thanks little voice, I am aware I am incapable of making any decisions. I really did
feel as though English is the best fit for my interests though. I felt that then and I
really feel that now after looking over the different categories and themes of my life.
I m still not that interesting and interesting things don t happen to me, but I was able
to pick and dig into my mindto put some things down and connect them. Let s begin
with my thoughtprocess. There I was sitting in my Spanish class waiting on class to
Bob Dylan And The Definition Of Success
Everything present in the universe is a relatable term just like the word success .
Like most of the definitions, the interpretation of success varies with the people s
perception so it is rather impossible to understand success in a simple way. In the
present era, most of the people relate success with the materialistic achievements such
as wealth, power and fame while some prefer to evaluate successby assessing the
contribution of the person to the society. Many great poets, politicians, writers and
songwriters have inked their own version of the definitionof success and one of the
great many quotes by Bob Dylan is A man is a success if he gets up in the morning
and gets to bed at night and in between does what he wants to do. Dylan... Show more

Some may also argue that happiness is never genuinely attainable and it is an
abstract feeling than a quantifiable one. Unquestionably, a person has to be very
patient and persist to go through a different route rather than the one previously
determined by the society to really reach their dream destination but one must
differentiate between attainable dream and mere illusion. An entrepreneur has to be
able to distinguish what can be more marketable among the things that they love.
Following an illusion will only lead the person to failure and oust them from the real
world without bringing any joy to both the person and the society so it really
necessary to go after the real
Mothers Of Plaza De Mayo
From 1976 to 1983, a military group was in charge of Argentina after overthrowing
the government in the 1930s (Tolerance. N.a. N.d). The military silenced the people
who opposed or spoke out against them. The people who actually spoke out
suddenly disappeared. These people were either imprisoned, tortured, killed, and
never seen again. The most common person disappeared were children who opposed
the military. Lawyers, and people who questioned the military (Tolerance. N.a. N.d).
In Buenos Aires, Argentina during the 1970s, a group of women gathered in the
Plaza de Mayo, in front of the president s palace and government buildings, to speak

The Mothers of the Plaza de Mayo encouraged many other people to speak out
against the many issues they were dealing with such as human rights (Reinbold.
2010). Without these women speaking out in 1977, there would have been no
initial protest to halt the military in Argentina. To prove this argument, there is a
timeline of events that the Mothers of Plaza De Mayo triggered. These events were
less likely to have happened without the first public protest (Reinbold. 2010). So
far, research includes geography, such as where Plaza De Mayo is located and
where exactly the military ruled and information on the disappeared and how it was
very dangerous to speak to anyone who had anything negative to say about the
military. I also have learned that the armed forces disliked anyone with liberal values
and who seemed like they were a threat to their traditional Christian values
(Tolerance. N.a. N.d). What I have little knowledge on is why the Government of
Argentina was overthrown in the first place and why the military was so aggressive.
It is imperative to know what the military was thinking at the time and why they took
such a stance against certain people. What was so important to protect that the
military had to

Effect of Temperature on Rate of Reaction of Catalase
Introduction
This investigation was in an attempt to try to find out how varying the temperature
can affect an enzyme. The enzyme used was catalase which breaks down Hydrogen
Peroxide, this gives off water and oxygen as effervescence. This effervescence is
what is used to measure the reaction rate of the catalase. The optimal heat for enzyme
activity is proven to be 37oC as anything above this denatures the enzyme. Denaturing
is where the heat energy of breaks down the di sulphide, ionic and hydrogen bonds
that hold the tertiary structure together, this in turn changes the shape of the active
site and so halts any reactions that the enzyme ... Show more content on

This is why the reaction rate rose with the temperature, however after a certain point
(40oC), the enzymes were becoming denatured and this caused them to become
useless which is why the reaction slowed to a halt after this temperature.
This was a poor experiment because:
The potato chips were very hard to get exactly the same. This inaccuracy caused
the surface area to differ between chips, which means that a small linear error will
make a big surface area error. To counter this, a machine should be used to cut the
chips to a preset size and would be very accurate. Measuring effervescence was
very inaccurate. The Bubbles tended to burst when they were made which caused
the overall amount of bubbles to be inaccurate. To prevent this, a syringe could be
used or the gas bubbled up through water to get an accurate measure of the amount
produced. The temperature of the potato chip when it was placed into the substrate,
this means that the enzymes may still be working while they are being heated to the
desired temperature, so if the temperature was 80oC then the enzyme may work
hard for the first minute or so because the potato is still heating up when in fact
80oC SHOULD cause the enzyme activity to become nil. This probably accounted
for some anomalies we received after doing this

The Role Of Tom Brady In The Nfl
There are a plethora of reasons why Tom Brady is the best quarterback in the NFL.
To start, Throughout the years, Tom Brady has proven himself as the most
consistent quarterback statistically, unlike some of his lesser competition. Tom
Brady holds the record for highest completion percentage per game. Not only does
he have the highest completion percentage per game, but he also owns the record
for most passing touchdowns in playoff history, surpassing all the greats before him.
Secondly, Tom has the ability to make others around him play great. The most
intriguing stat comes from the 62 different players that caught a touchdown pass
from Brady. Brady s also has the ability to help young players play at a high level in
their first year thus
Asian Population Growth
Population growth is a problem to the Asian populations health, economy and poverty
issues. The one child per family method is an option like what China implemented.
Method like birth control programs are also a way to figure out population growth
issues. One method that china used in the 1980s was to tell the people that increasing
economic growth would help hinder populationgrowth. I dont see how explaining the
harms of over population to the public wouldn t be enough for the public to help fix
this problem. Spreading awareness about contraceptives and not having such young
marriages are also ways to help with this problem.
The one child policy has a lot of exceptions and ethnic minorities do not have to
follow this law. Steep fines would be given out to families that broke the law. Also
if their first child was a girl they were allowed to have another child. There isn t any
exact numbers showing how this law has affected the population growth directly.
There s not a lot of ways to fix this problem so I feel like this has to be a positive
solution to fixing this problem. The fertility rate in China has fallen from 2.8 births
per woman in 1979 to 1.5 in 2010. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Than in 2007 67 percent of women between 17 and 45 used contraceptives. So
more contraceptive use in Asia would definitely help out with the population
problem. Females are actually preferring sterilization with 37 percent of females in
India and 28 percent in china. China actually is one of the highest rate for
contraceptive use in the world. 84 percent of women who are currently married.
Contraceptives has to be one of the best ways to weaken population growth. It is one
of the most used methods throughout the world. Condoms and the birth control pill
were only 3.7 percent used and 1.3 percent used by women 15 49 years

the two movies My Darling Clementine and The Searchers we watched before, the

She is isolated from both her national belonging and ethical communities. From the
point of the Westerns, Pearl is unassimilable since she cannot be trained to be a
lady based on her identity. From The perspective of Native Americans, she is no
longer one of them as a group. Martin Pawley, who is also an offspring of a white
settler and a Native American, has the same issue as Pearl does. Although he is
raised by a white family, he is still not accepted by his uncle Ethan. Growing up in
a white family makes Martin a white man from his deep inside, but it is still hard
for the Westerns to completely accept Martin since he is an outsider as before
simply because of his appearance. It is hard to define Pearl and Martin s identity
from either side, and the cultural prejudice comes up to those people who are mix
raced. Since most people lack knowledge about the people differ from them, fear
and prejudice towards other races changes the ways the minority groups are treated.
In the film My Darling Clementine, Chihuahua gives me a really deep impression.

Essay The Satire of Blazing Saddles
The Satire of Blazing Saddles
Blazing Saddles, a Mel Brooks film, is a perfect example of satire. The main object
of the movie is to make fun of the western genre of films. Mel Brooks is notorious
for his satires of many different films and film genres, and Blazing Saddles follows
true to form. Many of the film s ideas and problems are common in most westerns,
although Mel Brooks has added a twist. In addition, the movie pokes fun at a more
modern theme, racism.
Many westerns contain some of the same elements. For instance, almost every
western ever made involves a sheriff. He is usually the peace keeper of a small town

African Americans usually do not have major roles in westerns. Next, he is
persuaded to save a town; even though, the citizens hate him. An example of this,
is when he greets an elderly woman, she replies, Up yours, nigger, which illustrates
her dislike of the new black sheriff. In most westerns, the sheriff is the favored
citizen everyone loves, except the outlaws. An example of this is in the film is that
the townsfolk automatically remove their hats and bow their heads when someone
mentions the name Randolph Scott, a favorite western sheriff. Whenever Bart, the
sheriff, is mentioned the townsfolk cringe. Furthermore, the movie includes a
gunslinger. He is stereotypical, except for the twist that he is old and an alcoholic,
rather than a cocky young cowboy. The sheriff finds him in a jail cell, and recruits
him as a sidekick. In addition, the railroad is present throughout Blazing Saddles.
The sheriff starts the movie as a railroad worker, before becoming the sheriff of
Rock Ridge. In addition, the villain is the head of the railroad, which motivates him
to destroy the small town. He needs the land to lay more tracks, which is typical of a
power hungry villain. The elements of westerns are represented in a zany way during
the movie.
The villains are also poked fun at during Blazing Saddles. His name is Hedey Lamar,
but everyone refers to him as Hedley, which infuriates him. Typically, villains are not

Ms. Kraweitz is in the process of completing her online Education in Counseling and Play therapy from University of Mississippi. She is not an expert in the subject but she is currently in the program and she came to share some basic information that she has learned in her course work and also the experiences that she has acquired during her journey in the course. She defined play therapyas the systematic use of theoretical model to establish an interpersonal process wherein trained play therapist use the therapeutic powers of play to help clients prevent or resolve psychological difficulties and achieve optimal growth and development ( Kallie Make a... In addition, this is a way that the clinician will establish a relationship with their client. By so doing the clients will be able to establish trust with the clinician because without trust the client will not be comfortable to share deep information about what is going on with them but when they gain their trust, that is when the clinician will really get to know what is going on with their client. Still Alice is a movie that we watched in class. This movie is about a Harvard psychologist named Alice Howland who is diagnosed with early onset Alzheimer s disease at the peak of her career. • 3. George Orwell Politics And The English Language Analysis In Politics and the English language, George Orwell portrays various tricks by which the work of prose construction is habitually dodged. (Orwell 583). Orwell s argument is the English language is being deformed by modern writers thus mocking the use of the language. Orwell relates this topic to political and economic issues to show how the use of English is critical with these aspects. He refers to this topic as a reversible process (Orwell 581) if writers follow his six rules; without them the writing contains staleness of imagery and lack of precision. (Orwell 582). Orwell names these tricks: dying metaphors, operators or verbal false limbs, pretentious diction, and meaningless words. In Shooting an Elephant, Orwell uses these tricks to provide rhetorical motives. Orwell mentions He wears a mask, and his face grows to fit it (Orwell 853) to refer to himself when he was a police man in Moulmein, Burma.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Orwell states dying metaphors are in effect reverted to being an ordinary word and can generally be used without loss of vividness. (Orwell 583). The comparison between a man wearing a mask and the face of the man growing into the mask negate each other causing this metaphor to be unclear. The negation kills the visual image for the reader by making it unclear if the mask actually fits Orwell s face. If the reader cannot picture the comparison of a metaphor, it fails to have meaning which is classifies it as a dead
  • 4. Problems Of The Weimar Republic In The 1920s In the 1920s, the Weimar republic faced many problems such as strong political opposition, social and economic problems. Another major problem was the weakness within, which gave the States, the army and the president too much power and the proportional voting created a divided weak Reichstag. The system of proportional voting led to 28 different parties in the Reichstag which heavily crippled decision making. During 1919 23 there were multiple attempts to overthrow the government. Those attempts were led by extremist, the biggest example were the communist Spartacist revolt and a nationalist Kapp putsch. Due to the Army being led by a nationalist General, Hans von Seeckt, it failed to support the government in crucial times such as the crisis of 1923. Another major problem was the takeover and states such as Bavaria by the communist in 1919 and the 1923 Kapp putsch. Major economic problems hit in 1923 when France... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the 1920s, the Treaty of Versailles was seen by general population like a shame and humiliation that was considered a diktat . He used points like not having to pay for reparations and using that money instead to invest in Germany to rebuild the nation. He also promised to re take land taken from the Germans after their defeat and finally he promised to re arm the country so it would no longer be bullied in the future and be a force to be reckoned with. His promises gained massive support from the people of Germany who felt they had been ruined and accused by the west and the Treaty of Versailles. Hitler s Plans and promises to reverse the Treaty of Versailles greatly increased his popularity thus being a significant point in his rise to power. But without the Munich putsch Hitler would have stayed in the dark, thus the Munich putsch can be seen as a foundation to his rise to power, like his podium where he spoke
  • 5. My Footprint Size My footprint size is a medium that states it is about 7.13 city blocks, and the U.S. National Average is also medium but two footprints from being high and it also shows about 12.38 city blocks. Although there could be adjustments to shrink my footprint such as reducing my shower time to 7 minutes instead of 10 minutes because I could save 7.5 gallons of water. I can save 3 7 gallons of water every time I do not flush the toilet, instead let it mellow when it is yellow. Another adjustment would be to swap clothes with friends or family to reduce ecological footprint rather than buying new clothes. Furthermore, since I drive a distance to work five days a week it would be helpful to consolidate car errands in one day to reduce fuel rather than
  • 6. Montage Of A Dream Deferred By Langston Hughes Many of the poems within Montage of a Dream Deferred by Langston Hughes contain great meaning as well as emotion embedded within them. Whether they are 3 lines or 20 lines long, vivid images and explanations follow. The main focus of the series of poems are centralized on African Americans living in Harlem in the 20 s and on and their opposition from the rest. The motif in nearly all poems express discrimination, daily activities, and African Americans struggle for equality. Out of all poems, certain ones such as Theme for English B , Ballad of the Landlord , and Harlem #2 stood out. These short poems have a similar correlation carrying the same meaning and or idea. In the poem Theme for English B , a black student is asked to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He concludes with As I learn from you, I guess you learn from me although you re older and white and somewhat more free. This is my page for English B. The Black student realizes that not only does the teacher have the ability to teach, but even the students can teach the teacher something they never knew regardless if he/she is older, white, and more free than he is. Langston Hughes states that all Americans are shaped and defined differently and there is no specific way to be an American. Moving on to the second poem; Ballad of the Landlord , we see back and forth conversations between a white landlord and his unhappy black tenant. The black tenant tries explaining the poor conditions of his apartment. Flaws such as broken steps, and the leaking roof are examples of imagery. The black tenant tells his landlord that he won t be able to talk after he lands his fists on him. Without a further ado, the white tenant calls the police and the black tenant instantly gets arrest and sentenced to 90 days in county jail with no bail. Hughes expresses a theme of injustice for the black race in comparison to how the white race is favored and carry unfair power in society. It is easily said that the condition of the apartment explains the quality of a black person s justice: broken. Lastly, in the poem Harlem #2 , the speaker right off the bat tosses many rhetorical questions that the reader can ponder on. What happens to a dream deferred? Does it dry up like a raisin in
  • 7. Why Did France Really Need Three Revolutions Of The 20th... The French have an illustrious history of Revolutions. Ever since the revolution of 1789, it seems as if the French cannot maintain one system of government. They are often caught between the interests of the people and liberalism, while fighting against the self interests of the elite. Often the revolutions would run countercurrent to the previous one. The revolutions of the 20th century were no different. Karl Marx had said that each revolution is merely a re imagining of the original revolution of 1789. That does not seem to be evident in the revolutions of the 20th century. Why did the French ultimately need three revolutions merely to return to their liberalist ideology? The answer seems to stem from French political reality after the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This had been burgeoning since the Popular Front of the 1930 s to the treatment of workers under Vichy. Interestingly, however, it gained most of its power from University students scared for their future. The shift of power to the radical left was beginning again. Idealistic fervor had returned to counter the morbid realism of Vichy with slogans such as Be realistic, demand the impossible. Communists and union leaders allied against the strike, unprepared to give into their demands of higher wages. De Gaulle even considered using the military to put down the movement. De Gaulle was seen as too authoritarian at this point in time. He, much like Petain, had outlived his usefulness. His philosophy, would at least survive, as the French desired Gaullism without De Gaulle. Then again, Petain s rhetoric of ant immigrant, anti foreigner lives on today as seen in The Class, and in the popularity of the National Front. The movement of 1968 would ultimately not achieve antyhign of note. The movement ended before it could escalate into a true revolution. Perhaps, however, it did lay the final blow on De Gaulle who would cede the Presidency in 1969 and die just a year
  • 8. Greek Women In Euripides s The Trojan Women Euripides s tragedy play The Trojan Women took place in the now destroyed and mutilated city of Troy, after the mythological Trojan War and the historical Peloponnesian War. This play was the last of a trilogy that Euripides wrote concerning the events of the leading up to Trojan War, the war itself, and the aftermath . The two leading Greek city states at the time, Athens and Sparta, are the ones who are involved in the almost three decades of conflict, leaving the Greek sphere in pieces and cities destroyed and Athens was left bankrupt, exhausted of all resources, and demoralized from losing much of everything . The main causes of this war began with the Spartans fear of Athens growing power and prosperity to build bigger and better naval ships, and the construction of massive buildings and the construction of the Long Wall that outlined their territories . The Trojan Women focused on the captured women of Athens s point of view of the aftermath of the war and how they portrayed the Spartan soldiers as barbarians instead of heroic beings like they are in The Odysseyor The Iliad. Throughout Euripides s The Trojan Women, he came across a circumstance that occurred in order to make his main points in the play about the horrors of war, Greek s relationships with the Greek Gods, and the role of women in Greek society. The circumstance that Euripides encountered was the ability to combine multiple literary works and format some of the characters, events, and topics into

While this stereotypical description may have fit many past pirates, it is certainly obsolete for modern pirates like Asad Booyah Abdulahai. These new age bandits have advanced from the antiquated image of the pirate because of the Somalia rebellion, and this allowed people like Abdulahai to rise to power and control the seas at one time. However, they may be resurfacing from their brief extinction. Unlike buccaneers in the past, many of these new pirates were concentrated around the Horn of Africaon the shores of Somalia. This negative feedback loop in most conditions is good, but with congestive heart failure it forces the heart to work harder causing advancement of the disease. Right sided heart failure consists of the heart unable to pump blood to the lungs. In 2013, Edward Snowden, a contractor working for the NSA released classified informationwhich showed that the agency was spying on Americans and collecting information without a warrant, which is against the law and Americans basic rights. Greenwald was one of the first journalists that Snowden had contacted when he was looking to leak the information. Introduction Since its publication in 1990, Michael Porter s book The Competitive Advantage of Nations has attracted much consideration. The main analytical tool of the book is the diamond of competitive advantage (figure 1). This model is based on four country specific determinants and two external variables. Porter s four determinants and two outside forces interact in a diamond of competitive advantage, with the nature of a country s international competitiveness depending upon the type and quality of these interactions. However, because it is fundamentally a home based model of international competitiveness, the diamond theory is criticized by many international business scholars. This arrangement suggests that the Canadian diamond need to be considered jointly with the U.S. diamond, i.e. that Canadian managers need to operate in this double diamond framework. Indeed, Rugman and D Cruz propose that a North American diamond be used by Canadian managers and policy makers to improve Canada s international competitiveness. MEXICO Mexico s economic future is closely linked to that of the United States and, through NAFTA, North America. When analysed in terms of Porter s diamond some of the country s strategic clusters have already developed world wide competitive strength. During the 1990s the petroleum and automotive clusters proved to be highly competitive. As in its automotive success, this development is less a result of technological prowess as it will be the country s favourable factor conditions, related and supporting industries, demand conditions, and the structure and rivalry of firms. As before, Mexico will find that it can link its diamond framework with that of the United States and in the process become a worldwide competitor in many other areas. The primary advantage of using the double diamond is that it forces business and government leaders to think about management strategy and public policy in a different way. No longer is the domestic diamond the unit of analysis, as in Porter s single diamond framework. The proper perspective now becomes that of identifying successful and potentially viable

In the Inferno and The Faerie Queene an existential conundrum of compromised identities leaves Pier della Vigne and Fraudubio sans human choice. Dehumanized and disfigured, the individuals that comprise the trees still retain human qualities like talking, breathing, and, even, bleeding under certain circumstances. Within each space, whether it is considered a definite locus amoenus or a locus horribilis, the most significant human attribute to which these trees cling is bleeding and thus they have a small handful of feelings and emotions still within each of them. Through centuries of gender divides, there have been women who created for themselves and that of their community new identities that not only grew local and worldwide attention, but have inspired historians for centuries. In the case of Malinche, she used her womanhood to secure her spot with Cortes, as he conquered and ruled over the Aztecs. Ursela de Jesus contributed to the Catholic church of her time, and made a new ideal for servant hood as a woman in the church. Yet not all of these experiences were positive; trials and tribulations often faced Malinche and Ursela. Through the occcurences of these women it is evident that no matter the circumstance or outcome, women face a double standard, yet in certain cases use their knowledge to work past these standards. Malinche was multilingual. Because of her advanced preoccupation with learning languages and using the detailed experiences of her family background, she was able to advance Cortes and his army. Both they and Brunelleschi believed that a well ordered building such as the Pazzi Chapel mirrors God s plan of the universe (Matthews and Platt, 308). Cosimo had created council that brought together the greatest thinkers, artists and churchmen. The news of the new Rome had spread quickly and many people came from distant lands to see it. Cosimo set up lectures of Plato and other well known thinkers and displayed the new artwork and sculptures throughout the dome. He was considered a patron of the arts as he had encouraged and bought artwork from many artists to display in his cathedral and chapel. As stated in The Medici: Godfathers of the Renaissance Cosimo became the most sought after Patron in Florence. Patronage is a political strategy but is considered very irrational from an economic point of view. Artists however needed patrons because only patrons would buy their art. As a young god, Zeus is thereby a young ruler. His inexperience in ruling is obvious. Zeus had established his reign by violently overthrowing his father in a bloody war and spread his rule through subjugation. By imprisoning Cronusand the Titans in Tartarus and appointing his relatives and children in positions under him, Zeusforcefully raised himself into the position of a supreme ruler. Zeus knows no methods apart from vigorous and powerful ones in order to maintain his authority. In the beginning of the play in which Prometheusis being chained to a rock, Power and Force act as agents of Zeus and command Hephaestus. Zeus is defined by strength and harshness. They are the characteristics that have exalted him to his high position as a supreme ruler and they are now used to pave his way toward absolute dominance. He is harsh, as all those new to power are harsh (Aeschylus 2). Zeus s cruel methods are noticed and even criticized by those who serve him. However, none oppose him because of the fear Zeus instilled into them. And all the same I am required to bear it: it s hard to set aside my father s words (Aeschylus 2). Hephaestus shows discontent towards Zeus s decisions and only shows obedience because he is afraid of Zeus. Though he does not oppose Zeus, he sympathizes with Prometheus as he chains him to a rock. More than 80% of all genetically modified crops grown worldwide have been engineered for herbicide tolerance. As a result, the use of toxic herbicides, such as Roundup, has increased fifteenfold since GMOs were first introduced. (3) GM crops create toxins in the soil wherever they are planted. When toxic residues are released into the soil through the GM crop, toxins can prevent the growth of good bacteria that are essential for plant growth. Consequently, there are fewer soil bacteria, which are integral to the healthy soil for plants to grow without the use of chemical fertilizers. Nutrients are not returned to the soil, thus leaving the soil dry and void of all vital nutrients for growth. When GM crops are planted, generally in a monocrop fashion, traditional seeds are no longer used. Framers then become accustomed to the GMO seeds creating a cycle of dependence on GMO seeds and chemical fertilizers, pesticides, and herbicides to grow a single crop. In addition to soil issues, the irrigation used to grow GM foods naturally carries all of these problems into water sources and into the air. (3) This exposes different bacteria, insects, and animals to the same problems. Thus, creating pesticide resistant superbugs; the toxins originally used to

These ideas of hatred against animal captivity are expressed in small ways such as posting a picture on Instagram that represents animal cruelty in captivity. Another way these ideas can be expressed is through large representations such as movies. Films such as Jurassic World and Blackfish are prime examples of this. Both of these films are representing the severe repercussions that can come from keeping large, dangerous animals in captivity. Though Jurassic World is a fictional movie, it is able to send the message that having animals that are dangerous in captivity is something that is very dangerous. It is imperative to know what the military was thinking at the time and why they took such a stance against certain people. What was so important to protect that the military had to
  • 52. Essay on Effect of Temperature on Rate of Reaction of... Effect of Temperature on Rate of Reaction of Catalase Introduction This investigation was in an attempt to try to find out how varying the temperature can affect an enzyme. The enzyme used was catalase which breaks down Hydrogen Peroxide, this gives off water and oxygen as effervescence. This effervescence is what is used to measure the reaction rate of the catalase. The optimal heat for enzyme activity is proven to be 37oC as anything above this denatures the enzyme. Denaturing is where the heat energy of breaks down the di sulphide, ionic and hydrogen bonds that hold the tertiary structure together, this in turn changes the shape of the active site and so halts any reactions that the enzyme ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is why the reaction rate rose with the temperature, however after a certain point (40oC), the enzymes were becoming denatured and this caused them to become useless which is why the reaction slowed to a halt after this temperature. This was a poor experiment because: The potato chips were very hard to get exactly the same. This inaccuracy caused the surface area to differ between chips, which means that a small linear error will make a big surface area error. To counter this, a machine should be used to cut the chips to a preset size and would be very accurate. Measuring effervescence was very inaccurate. The Bubbles tended to burst when they were made which caused the overall amount of bubbles to be inaccurate. To prevent this, a syringe could be used or the gas bubbled up through water to get an accurate measure of the amount produced. The temperature of the potato chip when it was placed into the substrate, this means that the enzymes may still be working while they are being heated to the desired temperature, so if the temperature was 80oC then the enzyme may work hard for the first minute or so because the potato is still heating up when in fact 80oC SHOULD cause the enzyme activity to become nil. This probably accounted for some anomalies we received after doing this

Sorority Application Letter Essay Day in and day out we hear about high school and college students wanting to pursue a sorority and/or a fraternity based on the stereotypes these organizations uphold, well I chose to differ. I told myself if I ever decided to become a member of a sorority it would be based solely on their ethical standards, history, and values they are founded upon. Alpha Kappa Alpha, Incorporated consists of ladies of distinction and exemplary character who excel in scholarship, leadership, and service, which are qualities I have chosen to uphold. Instead I obtained my High School diploma, worked at Sonic (a restaurant that strives on their employee s academic excellence) for three years; I m a junior in college that has thrived academically and socially over my years. Method like birth control programs are also a way to figure out population growth issues. One method that china used in the 1980s was to tell the people that increasing economic growth would help hinder populationgrowth. I dont see how explaining the harms of over population to the public wouldn t be enough for the public to help fix this problem. Spreading awareness about contraceptives and not having such young marriages are also ways to help with this problem. The one child policy has a lot of exceptions and ethnic minorities do not have to follow this law. Steep fines would be given out to families that broke the law. Also if their first child was a girl they were allowed to have another child. There isn t any exact numbers showing how this law has affected the population growth directly. There s not a lot of ways to fix this problem so I feel like this has to be a positive solution to fixing this problem. In the article Mixed Race Frontiers: Border Westerns and the Limits of America , Camilla Fojas explored two border Westerns, Duel in the Sun (1946) and Rio Lobo(1970). Racial mixing is central to the plot development of both films. Just like the two movies My Darling Clementine and The Searchers we watched before, the problems of cultural prejudice come up in most stories of the West, which can never be ignored when we talk about the frontier. The boundary in the West is not just a geographic term, but also a racial term that separate people with different racial background. Without... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... She is isolated from both her national belonging and ethical communities. From the point of the Westerns, Pearl is unassimilable since she cannot be trained to be a lady based on her identity. From The perspective of Native Americans, she is no longer one of them as a group. Martin Pawley, who is also an offspring of a white settler and a Native American, has the same issue as Pearl does. Although he is raised by a white family, he is still not accepted by his uncle Ethan. Growing up in a white family makes Martin a white man from his deep inside, but it is still hard for the Westerns to completely accept Martin since he is an outsider as before simply because of his appearance. It is hard to define Pearl and Martin s identity from either side, and the cultural prejudice comes up to those people who are mix raced. Since most people lack knowledge about the people differ from them, fear and prejudice towards other races changes the ways the minority groups are treated. • 58. Essay The Satire of Blazing Saddles The Satire of Blazing Saddles Blazing Saddles, a Mel Brooks film, is a perfect example of satire. The main object of the movie is to make fun of the western genre of films. Mel Brooks is notorious for his satires of many different films and film genres, and Blazing Saddles follows true to form. Many of the film s ideas and problems are common in most westerns, although Mel Brooks has added a twist. In addition, the movie pokes fun at a more modern theme, racism. Many westerns contain some of the same elements. For instance, almost every western ever made involves a sheriff. An example of this, is when he greets an elderly woman, she replies, Up yours, nigger, which illustrates her dislike of the new black sheriff. In most westerns, the sheriff is the favored citizen everyone loves, except the outlaws. An example of this is in the film is that the townsfolk automatically remove their hats and bow their heads when someone mentions the name Randolph Scott, a favorite western sheriff. Whenever Bart, the sheriff, is mentioned the townsfolk cringe. Furthermore, the movie includes a gunslinger. He is stereotypical, except for the twist that he is old and an alcoholic, rather than a cocky young cowboy. The sheriff finds him in a jail cell, and recruits him as a sidekick. In addition, the railroad is present throughout Blazing Saddles. The sheriff starts the movie as a railroad worker, before becoming the sheriff of Rock Ridge. In addition, the villain is the head of the railroad, which motivates him to destroy the small town. He needs the land to lay more tracks, which is typical of a power hungry villain.
