Essay Reference Generator
Crafting an essay on the subject of an "Essay Reference Generator" presents a unique set of
challenges that may not be immediately apparent. While the topic itself seems straightforward,
delving into the intricacies of creating an essay reference generator and elucidating its
significance can be a daunting task.
Firstly, understanding the technical aspects and functionalities of a reference generator is
essential. One must have a grasp of various citation styles, such as APA, MLA, Chicago, and
Harvard, and how the generator navigates these nuances. Explaining these intricacies requires
not only a solid understanding of the generator's mechanics but also an ability to communicate
these concepts clearly to the intended audience.
Moreover, the essay would need to explore the relevance and importance of such tools in the
academic and professional spheres. This involves researching and synthesizing information on
how accurate and efficient reference generators contribute to the overall quality and credibility
of academic writing. Balancing technical details with broader contextual understanding can be
challenging.
Furthermore, addressing potential criticisms and limitations of reference generators is crucial for
a comprehensive discussion. This requires critical thinking and the ability to anticipate and
counter potential arguments against the use of such tools. Striking a balance between the
advantages and drawbacks, while maintaining an unbiased tone, adds another layer of
complexity.
Additionally, creating a well-structured and cohesive essay necessitates a clear introduction,
body, and conclusion. Ensuring a logical flow of ideas and maintaining coherence throughout the
essay requires careful planning and organization. Moreover, crafting an engaging introduction
and a thought-provoking conclusion is vital to leave a lasting impression on the reader.
In conclusion, writing an essay on the "Essay Reference Generator" entails navigating through
technical details, exploring its relevance, addressing potential criticisms, and maintaining a
cohesive structure. It is a task that demands not only a thorough understanding of the subject
matter but also effective communication and critical thinking skills.

Food Safety Act 1990:
The food safety acts are lay down rules that apply to everyone involved in a
production, storage, distribution or sales of foods.
Under the food safety act 1990 it is illegal to sell food unfit for human intake.
This act gives power to the health environment inspectors to inspect food and also
seize food unfit for the human intake and condemn it. Any establishment breaching
food hygiene standards can be served a notice for improvement, but in extreme
conditions they can be closed down eternally, if the practices are reflected to be a
health hazard then their business can be act against for breaching hazards.
The food safety act states that people working with food must practice working
with good food hygiene in the workplace. Food for people who use services and for
visitors must be safely stored and prepared and also must not be injurious to health.
Local authority health inspectors enforce this law.
The food safety (General Food Hygiene) regulates 1995, 2005 and 2006 referring
to the need of identify and possible risks surrounding food hygiene, and to put
controls in place to ensure any risk is reduced. The regulations also specify how
premises that provide food should be equipped and organised.

Things Are Ugly, But We Are Here
In Edwidge Danticat s article We are Ugly, but We Are Here , she describes the
injustices of how women are treated in Haiti. She uses her grandmother, Haiti s
former queen, and examples of other women as reasons as to how and why she
realizes the seriousness and realness of the topic. Women are treated as if they were
nothing. Their souls cry out. Danticat s argument is that even though women are
treated the way that they are, they will not back down. A know saying is We are ugly,
but we are here, (Danticat). Even though women have died, they will never be
forgotten because of the strength they displayed while suffering. Danticat is wanting
the reader to be aware of the women s suffrage still happening in the world. Even
though they themselves may not be experiencing it, the injustice displayed upon
women is a real thing. She stated in the article that my grandmother was an old
country woman who always felt dis placed in the city... where we lived and had
nothing but her patched up quilts and her stories to console her, (Danticat). The
stories shared between Danticat and her grandmother are forever etched into her
memory. Since death was such a commonality, Danticat was not even fazed when her
grandmother passed. The fact of the emotionless death alone should shed a light on
the terribleness of the situation. Death should never be an everyday thing. Another
area that goes with Danticat s argument is that even the Queen Anacaona was not safe
from the injustices. In fact,

Fredrick s Use Of Falconers In Medieval Times
In Europe, the ancient art of falconry is patently linked to Emperor Frederick II of
Hohenstaufen. The exploration of falconry and hunting with hawks in the Middle
Ages is based off Frederick s studies, mainly his book called De Arte Venandi Cum
Avibus and his court at Palermo, Sicily. He affected and inspired falconers in
medieval and modern society. He encountered Matthew of Paris and a few other
famous rulers at his court in Palermo. Matthew of Paris proclaimed Frederick as
Stupor Mundi, Latin for wonder of the world. He exchanged ideas with his scholars
and expanded the practice of hawking throughout medieval Europe.
Frederick II was born on December 26, 1194. His mother, Constance of Sicily, died
when Frederick was a young child. His ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Today, falconers use many of the same methods as practiced in medieval times.
Images of medieval Europe instantly come to mind for most people when the
subject of falconry arises. Modern falconers honor those old traditions as best as
they are able. Aside from the addition of modern tracking technology such as GPS
and radio telemetry our basic training methods have remained unchanged for
thousands of years. We still weigh our birds as they did in medieval times, although
we use digital scales. We still make hoods, jesses, and anklets from leather in much
the same fashion. Even with the addition of new species and new technology we
continue to use the same language to describe our birds and equipment, Rosen

The Gospels
The Gospels goal is to combine the gospel message with other important material as
it relates to Jesus life and teachings. Collectively to say that Jesus is the one true
Savior of the world and through him we could have eternal life.
Matthew is claimed to be between AD 80 and 100. Matthew focus was for the Jewish
Christians who were being pushed out of their communities in Galilee. It is very
important to Matthew that Jesus is the son of Abraham. The Jesus was a jew in the
sense of it all. Matthew emphasizes that the coming of Jesus was the supreme event
in history. Every circumstance including the birth, life, teaching, death, and
resurrection of Jesus was the fulfillment of the prophecy.
Mark was somewhere between the range of AD 40 and 60. Mark dramatically
highlights the major episodes of Jesus life, that prove him to be the son of God, the
great servant preacher who is ushering in God s saving reign. Mark s major theme is
recording a description of who Jesus was and the impact he had in those who came in
contact with him. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Mark Antony s Assassination Analysis
Being politically assassinated is really no easy task to do. For example: During
the presidential debate that happened at the Al Smith Dinner for a charity on
October 20th, 2016 there was a heated battle between Donald Trump and Hillary
Clinton. The two politicians were roasting each other back and forth in a jokingly
matter but in the audience s eyes, it seemed like a direct attack between one
another. One of the lines which Trump said, shocked many of the guests who
attended the charity that day. Hillary is so corrupt, she got kicked off the Watergate
Commission. And going into Clinton s own speech, she also went as far as to
humiliate Trump in her own way. Donald wanted me drug tested before last night s
debate. Look I got to tell... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
(IV.3.1 117) (Argument between Cassius and Brutus) That you have... is cold
again. Even as they both are trying to fight for the same cause, they both have
difficulties trying to get along after rumors being spread out each other. Their
army decreases with every word being spread out about them killing Caesar who
was not ambitious at all and was killed as an innocent man. So throughout their own
conversation, it seems like they finally come to a conclusion and end their little
quarrel and start to discuss about how to turn the tides and defeat Antony and
Octavius. But they both know that their powers with the people of Rome and their
own army is waning, so they decide to march to Philippi and win. (IV.3.199 227)
Well, to our work... or lose our ventures. Their final efforts to march toward Philippi

Retail Stores in Prince George s County (Maryland) sought review of the counties
orders about the injunction (Md. Ann. Code art. 27, В§ 534H,) regarding the opening
times of the retail stores on Sundays.
Facts
Prince George s County filed identical petitions against two stores: Atlantic
Department Store, Inc. and George s Radio and Television, Inc. that violated Md.
Ann. Code art. 27, В§ 534H. The stores went to trial and claimed that the Code
violates the First Amendment. There they had to admit that they did not meet any of
the exemptions that would allow them to operate on a Sunday. They appealed the
courts ruling and this time they asserted that В§ 534H violated the Establishment
Clause of the First Amendment because they think that religion was the reason for the
prohibition. And since their employees that were working on Sundays were not
required to work in violation of their religious beliefs, the county had no right to set
up this law. The court then again came to a conclusion that the stores were wrong
with their accusations of the violation because the prohibition of operating on
Sundays had nothing to do with religious reason but were meant for recreation and

able to make decisions on experiences that they themselves could not understand.
This really raised a lot of questions to me about who is in power and how big of a
problem it is the those in power are not more diverse. We have struggled in society
and have imprisoned so many behind stone walls of racism, sexism, and homophobia
(Rudacille 140).
It also raised awareness that the very same acts done by heterosexual couples were
acceptable, and not punishable in the confines of the home, but that gays were not
even safe in private. After the decision in Lawrence v Texas made by the U.S.
Supreme Court, it was understood that the gay community had a chance to move
forward into the light even more, and that their fight for freedom would not disappear.
By declaring that it is unconstitutional to make arrests against gays in the home, it
also declared that homosexuals should have the same rights as everyone else. It made
it more acceptable and brought homosexuality into the light to where it was okay to
talk about and dispute. Not only was it just an invasion of liberty, as the Court
thought , but also the case enforced a bad law, a Homosexual Status Law, which
made being gay a crime.
In writing this paper, I went back to the very beginning of our discussions, and
looked at my very first discussion post on the Stonewall Uprising. I realized, that
while we did do a lot of court case focused work, that I still learned a lot even outside
of these cases. I wanted to post both my

The Effect Of Various Drugs On The Heart Rate Of
Daphnia...
This laboratory exercise was performed to visualize the effects of various drugs on
the heart rate of Daphnia magna. The four drugs tested consisted of: Lidocaine,
Acetylcholine, Caffeine, and Nicotine. These drugs were designed to have an
apparent effect on the average heart rate of the Daphnia. The laboratory exercise was
divided into two parts and procedures: measuring the basal heart rateof Daphnia, and
measuring the druginduced heart rate of Daphnia. In order to measure the basal heart
rate, various Daphnia were obtained and observed under a microscope at 40x
magnification for two separate trials. Using the same technique, the drug induced
heart rate with each drug (Lidocaine, Acetylcholine, Caffeineand Nicotine) was
measured and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These drugs were utilized in order to demonstrate the positive and negative effects on
cell communication. Cell communication consists of three steps: reception,
transduction, and response. Reception involves the binding of a ligand and a
receptor; transduction is a cascade of actions between molecules and their proteins,
and response is the change that occurs afterwards (1). The goal of this laboratory
exercise was to observe and determine the effects of chemical agents on Daphnia s
cell communication receptors. Different drugs have different effects on the
circulatory system, and with higher concentrations of each, come more serious
effects (3). The hypothesis for this laboratory exercise was: if Daphnia were placed
into Caffeine or Nicotine, then their heart rate would increase. In comparison, if
Daphnia were placed into Acetylcholine or Lidocaine, then their heart rate would
decrease.
Methods and Materials:
In order to complete this exercise, two different procedures were conducted; one
measured the basal heart rate, and the other measured the drug induced heart rate. A
sample s basal heart rate can be defined as the resting heart rate. This is when no
drugs or altering substances are applied. In comparison, the drug induced heart rate of
a sample can be defined as the heart rate after the drug was administered to the
surrounding environment. The four drugs tested on the Daphnia specimens were

The Joker s Ultimate Villain
There is no shortage of villains in the world of films but the ultimate villain has to
be the Joker in The Dark Knight. Batman and The Joker s character traits isn t what
makes them so vastly different, it is their perspectives and the way they use that
cleverness both of them possess. The Jokers madness is not limited to gun power
because the Joker s most effective weapon is his evil mastermind. When one first
catches a glimpse of the Joker, fright will surely ensue. The Joker s clown like
appearance taps into many childhood fears and his scars trace a sinister smile upon
his face leaving one to wonder what the man behind the makeup is smiling about.
There are several reasons marking the Joker as the supreme villain. The Joker s
genius and disregard for his own safety are some of the elements that contribute to the
recipe for the most malevolent villain. The Joker and Batmanare clear enemies and
both are clever in their own ways. The Joker s genius stems from his creativity and
ability to use his victims own emotions against themselves. The Joker s brilliance is
revealed in several scenes throughout the film. One of the most memorable moments
from the film is when the Joker interrupts a meeting involving the various gangs and
criminals that inhabit Gotham City. The Joker performs a magic trick and
transforms a simple pencil into a murder weapon. The Joker stabs a pencil into the
desk and proceeds to make the pencil disappear into the skull of
Research Paper On Saving Private Ryan
Saving Private Ryan Movie Review The movie Saving Private Ryan directed by
Steven Spielberg is probably one of the most exquisite movies to show World War

such as Tim Hanks, Matt Damon, and Vin Diesel. When Steven came up with the
idea for the movie he showed interest in the Niland brothers four siblings who all
served in the army during World War II. Brothers Robert, Preston, and Edward were
all supposedly killed in action, leading the army to take actions and bring back the
last brother Fitz(Private Ryan) home. I m sure this story created many wonders inside

Catalase Concentration On Hydrogen Peroxide
Effect of the concentration of hydrogen peroxide on volume of oxygen gas
production, when reacted with catalase.
Abstract
The aim of this laboratory experiment was to investigate the effect of hydrogen
peroxide concentration on the rate at which oxygen is produced when the volume and
temperature of 50% catalase and volume of hydrogen peroxide solution are kept
constant. It was expected that if the concentration of hydrogen peroxide increased,
then the production rate of oxygen gas would also increase until the enzyme became
saturated, following the Michaelis Menten relationship. For this to apply, the volume
and temperature of 50% catalase and volume of hydrogen peroxide solution were kept
constant. Six different concentrations were used ... Show more content on

However the graph of the rate of O2 production for this experiment does not follow
the Michaelis Mentan relationship (Figure 9). Reasons for this could have been
the inability to record gas production in time intervals shorter than 10 seconds
because the reaction occurred so rapidly. The first measurement of O2 produced
was recorded at 10 seconds, however by this time the reaction had already
completed (Figure 10), meaning the exact finishing point (between 1 10 seconds) of
the reaction was unknown. This then disturbs the calculation of the rate of O2
production. Some errors that may have occurred include leakage of O2 from the
flask, or small amounts of O2 could have dissolved in water, disrupting the volume
of gas produced, and therefore the calculation of the rate of

В· Authorization, Access Controls
Authorization is the specification of a set of rules that specify who has which type of
access to what information. Authorization policies therefore govern the disclosure
and modification of information. Access controls are
3 procedures that are designed to control authorizations. They are responsible to limit
access to stored data to authorized users only.
В· Integrity, Consistency
An integrity policy states a set of rules (i. e. semantic integrity constraints) that define
the correct states of the database during database operation and therefore can protect
against malicious or accidental modification of information. Closely related issues to
integrity and consistency are concurrency control and recovery. Concurrency control
policies protect the integrity of the database in the presence of concurrent
transactions. If these transactions do not terminate normally due to system crashes or
security violations recovery techniques are used to reconstruct correct or valid
database states.
В· Auditing
The requirement to keep records of all security relevant actions issued by a user is
called auditing. Resulting audit records are the basis for further reviews and
examinations in order to test the adequacy of system controls and to recommend any
changes in the security policy.
In this Chapter such a broad perspective of database security is not taken.
Instead, main focus is directed towards aspects related to

There is no question that Christopher Columbus and Alvar NuГ±ez Cabeza de Vaca
were two completely different explorers. They gave entirely different description
of their voyages. Columbus was not very interested in the native s life style or
their religion. Even though Columbus s explorations were one of the most
important in history, his ambition after discovering the New World led him to
commit a series of atrocities in the name of the Crown. He was more on the path of
looking for gold, valuables and power. In my opinion he didn t respect the villages
and islands he encountered. Only to cover as much land as possible and find means
to survival. He was mostly interested in power over the islands. Columbus was

Babylonian Captivity
It is no surprise that Christians unschooled in the history of the development of the
Christianity s Bible based beliefs and teachings, and with the beliefs of the Early

that are not at all points in agreement with the information written under divine

2015, and I am in the land that the man named Columbus recently discovered! It is
said this land is called Washington . Last thing I knew, it was the year 1514, and I
was a sickly man in Rome. I m feeling much better now. Luckily there is a
magnificent building right down the road from me called the United States Capitol
Building. I feel like I am back at home in Rome when I see such a building! The
people of this strange land say this building houses the government of their country.
I find this hard to believe. A building as large, and as grand as this should be a home
of God, a... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These columns are known as the Corinthian Order. My plan for St. Peter s called for
these same columns to circle the largest dome of the basilica. The Capitol Building
pulls this same strategy off perfectly! Surely, the architects of the building known
as William Thorton, Benjamin Henry Latrobe, and Charles Bulfinch (SOURCE),
must have drew upon my plan of St. Peter s for inspiration. I am not sure if they
knew this or not, but I also used classical columns on another masterpiece of mine
that is known as the Tempietto at San Pietro in Montorio (SOURCE). Unlike at St.
Peter s, at the Tempietto I used the Doric order of columns (SOURCE). I find both
orders to be great outlets of my artistic abilities, and both pleasing to the eye.
Besides the columns, another feature of the Capitol Building that I have
marvelous is the beautiful, gigantic, dome in the center. I used a dome structure on
both of my famous works that I mentioned before, namely my plan for St. Peters,
and the Tempietto at San Pietro in Montorio (SOURCE). I would say, however,
that the dome on the Capitol is much larger (SOURCE)! Especially compared to
that of my Tempietto. It must have taken master craftsmen many years to complete
such a feat in architecture and engineering (SOURCE). While I do find the dome
to be a great work, I think it may be a little too different from the great domes of my
work. Compared to my dome of St. Peters, the Capitol s dome seems to
My Father And Father In Sarah Vowell s Shooting Dad
I was mortified when my dad purposely farted in Buehler s. Two minutes prior we
had been walking down aisles joking about stuff in the store and poking fun at my
little sister. Then all of the sudden he looked around, saw we were pretty much
alone in the aisle and farted. I immediately gave him the I cannot believe you just
did that look and he just laughed, not seeming to mind that a Buehlers associate
was only a couple yards from us. When I think about this it is easy for me to say
that I am nothing like my Father. Sarah Vowell also felt very different compared to
her dad when she wrote the essay Shooting Dad . However when Vowell looks past
their differences she finds how similar she is to her Father. I find this to be true about
many child parentrelationships, even if the child does not wish to be like their
parents. Children cannot prevent themselves from becoming similar to their parents.
Throughout Shooting Dad Vowell discovers how similar she is compared to her
Father. She starts off her essay by examining differences between her and her dad by
saying, You could have looked at the Democratic campaign poster in the upstairs
window and Republican in the downstairs window . This was supposed to
demonstrate a major differencebetween Vowell and her Father. However when I
read this I see two people who share an intense passion for politics. Instead of
showing how different Vowell is from her Father, she shows the reader how similar
she is. Vowell remains
Flags Of Our Fathers Book Report
Flags of Our Fathers was written by James Bradley and co written by Ron Powers.
The book was first published by Bantam Books in 2000. Flags of Our Fathers is a

Flags of Our Fathers tells a story of the six comrades who raised the American Flag

Christian Community Analysis
My time within the faith community has impacted me both negatively and positively
on complete opposite ends of that spectrum. As a baby believer, I accepted a job
working in a large, two hundred staff member church with three thousand volunteers
on the roster. Thus, began a six year journey that exposed me to varying forms of
Christian Community. Staff gatherings, retreats, a life group, missions and volunteer
groups, the Christian motorcycle community, and Freedom Session small groups. I
had never read the bible, been discipled, baptized, prayed out loud, accepted Christ
into my heart, or even prayed the sinner s prayer. I started my Jesusjourney spending
sixty hours a week with lifelong mature Christians who spoke the foreign language of

Entire communities live behind masks, fearing transparency, honesty and truth about
the muck and mire in their lives. The focus is inward to protect their image, and
God cannot get close enough to remove their muck. It is difficult to offer what we
cannot feel, have not experienced or do not possess ourselves. Other factors
preventing us from offering these relationships are that we live in a rushed culture
that is impatient, and relationships take up time. We overbook, overextend, and
overwork ourselves which skews our priorities and barely leaves time for our own
families let alone for investing in external communities or
Modern Cinem Mise En Scene
Mostly spoken about in the world of cinema, mise en scГ©ne also describes
aspects in theatre. In the instance of stage performance, mise en scГ©ne includes
all that is present on stage i.e. props, costumes, lighting, use of space. In Mr.
Burns: A Post Electric Play by Anne Washburn paying close attention to what is
present on stage is essential to understanding situation. In The First Act, the script
directs there to be four people around a fire, on a mixed arrangement of indoor
chairs, sports or lawn chairs and a fancy new couch, this set allows the audience to
view the scene as something of a fuse of scavenged materials, making it known
that, in this point in civilization, it is essential to acquire anything that is possible.
There is no room for color schemes or meticulously considered arrangements, only
practicality. The Second Act, described as seven years later, calls for a cozy living
room, letting the audience know that progress has been made and it is appropriate to
begin to consider aesthetic and occasional luxury. With this consideration of mise en
scГ©ne comes a better understanding of how and why a scene is presented the way it
is. Bildungsroman, relating to that of a novel on formative years, is prominent in
Jean Rhys Wide Sargasso Sea. Antoinette begins as a wide eyed child, transitioning to
a girl hopelessly in love, and then a spiteful woman. Christophine, Antoinette s nurse,

Sir Isaac Newton s Influential Person In The World Of
Physics
Sir Isaac Newton was a very influential person in the world of physics. He was born
on January 4, 1643, in a village called Woolsthorpe, which is located in eastern
England. His parents are the elder Isaac Newton and Hannah Ayscough. Newton s
father passed away before he was born, so his mother remarried to Barnabas Smith a
few years later. She moved to North Witham, leaving Newton in his birth town in the
care of her mother. At age 11 Newton was enrolled at King s School in Grantham,
about seven miles away from Woolsthorpe. Initially he was regarded as an
unintelligent student, but he eventually rose to the top of his class. While at King s
School Newton resided with the town apothecary, where he first became interested in
chemistry. He continued
Motivation In The Movie Maverick
#1.) In the video clip Maverick (1994), the key characteristic of classical
Hollywood illustrated is, motivation. This is seen when the main character shows a
lot of interest in assisting a poker game and is willing to go through great lengths
just to go to the game. There is a couple of examples of how he shows his
motivation. One is, when he is seen traveling on a donkey because his horse got
stolen. Secondly, he is traveling on a donkey, having four days left to get there.
Thirdly, he is traveling being $3,000 short for the entrance fee to the game.
Additionally, the path that he has to travel seems dangerous, considering it s a
dessert. Lastly, he even says, no way in hell I was going to miss that game Maverick
(1994). All his actions where clearly because of his motivation. The function of this
scenario in the overall narrative of the film was to identify with the protagonist
reaching his main goal. In the beginning scene, the protagonist was immediately
introduced and portrayed as the good guy. This was seen when that he gets into
danger while trying to reach his goal. It shows that the main character will have to
go through a number of chain of event to get to the main goal, including
overcoming danger. The scenario put in question if the main character was going to
be able to attend the poker game. The scene where he is left alone almost dangling
from a tree with his horse and a snake, put into question will and how will he
accomplish his goal.
#2.) Some typical characteristics associated with depictions of masculinity in
Hollywood are being virile, active, physically aggressive, emotions suppressed,
sexually desired by woman, powerful, and hero s. They are expected to, ...measure up
to impossible cultural ideals of autonomy, mastery, and self control, even though these
ideals may be sugar coated with notions of love, creativity, wisdom and community
(Gender and Masculinity pg.368). In the trailer Taken (2008), a number of
characteristics are demonstrated like; notions of love and wisdom, acts of heroism,
physical aggression, measuring up to the seemingly impossible, being powerful, and
strong. In the beginning, we can see the reasoning of why the protagonist becomes a
hero. His masculine
Chuck Close Analysis
Chuck Close is a modern American artist who has achieved success for his large
scale portraits. Yes, I would describe Close s work as a form of language because it
explored the established visual presentation from the portraits. The subject of his
portraits has been drawn from himself, his family, and friends. His works explain
that it has been driven by his lifelong learning difficulties. His portraits tell
everything about his struggle to remember the faces while drawing. Also, the uses of
the grid to break down every imagethat he paints into small incremental units
showed that we could easily focus on each part of his paintings. I would consider
this exploration of an artist at work as good and well deserving artworks in exploring
the process.

summer of 2014, an unofficial agreement was made between the Ryanites of both the

completely separate. This agreement, a small one at first, would eventually define
the parameters of the activities of both as time drags on. Interestingly enough, this
agreement was also respected by both the Underground and the RGA, even as they
waged a conflict of gaining dominance over the other, while at the same time
maintaining their power by staving off every attempt made by other rival factions. To
refer to this agreement, the Ryanites use the term Plaid Curtain , which in turn
became yet another word in their lexicon. It is important to note that the Plaid
Curtain does not exist at all on any official form of cartographic documents

The Technology And The Medical Field During The 20th...
The World Innovations of Science and Technology in the Medical Field During the
20th century Medical Innovation in the 20th century was geared around prolonging
and enhancing the quality of people s lives. With the emergence of Epidemiology
came understanding the relationship between the world around us and the effects it
has on our health. With some many diseases already reaching epidemic status,
Immunizations were a significant innovation in the 20th century, effectively
eradicating many diseases. The technology was another major advance in the 20th
century with the development of several life changing machines that could keep a
person alive during surgery as well as prolong a person lives. Pharmacological
advances in medicinechanged how everyone in the world thought about a cold or
the Flu, as well as treated life threatening disorders. However, with all these
advances in public health there was bound to be consequences, like the rise of health
care cost and the emergence of new resistant strains of disease become a new
problem, where is medicine to turn next?
Vaccinations and Immunizations started in the 18th century, with the Smallpox
Vaccination, created by Edward Jenner from Berkeley, England. The control of
communicable disease has been the major advance of the 20th century in scientific
medicine. It reflects the combination of improved environmental conditions and
public health together with the development of immunization, antimicrobial

When I was younger, history was never appealing to me. It always seemed like it

understood what my historyteachers were saying. My next year of high schoolI took

learn more. This allowed me to better understand the concepts. I aced every test I
took; it gave me great joy when my fellow classmates begin to ask for my help. It

Las Meninas ValГЎzquez and Picasso Las Meninas is a famous painting created by
Diego ValГЎzquez in 1656 (left). Diego ValГЎzquez s Las Meninas has inspired
artists to make several renditions, admiring it. Pablo Picasso, in particular, has made
over 50 renditions of Las Meninas . Pablo Picasso s rendition shown at the top of the
page (right) is only one of his recreations of Las Meninas , made in 1957 . There
are many similarities and differences between both the original and Pablo Picasso s
rendition of Las Meninas , as well as several reasons why they made the paintings
and what the artists were trying to portray.Diego ValГ
Ўzquez s Las Meninas and
Pablo Picasso s rendition of it are similar in several ways. First, both paintings
share some of the same objects. The princess, infantana margarita, is in the center of
both paintings. Secondly, there is a maid of honor (a royal servant) kneeling to the
left side of the princess in both paintings. Thirdly, both of the paintings also have the
same focus. The focus of the paintings is the princess and her maids of honor. In
Diego ValГЎzquez s painting, the princess and her maids of honor are towards the
front and in the center, and the same is made apparent in Pablo Picasso s rendition.
Finally, you can see the building in which the paintings are taken place in both of
them. It is very obvious in Diego ValГЎzquez s painting, put a little less so in Pablo
Picasso s painting. There is a difference in color from brown to black towards the
bottom of Pablo Picasso s painting. Since the floor in Diego ValГЎzquez s painting is
clearly and brightly shown as brown but the walls are darker, the same is shown in
Pablo Picasso s rendition.Diego ValГЎzquez s Las Meninas and Pablo Picasso s
rendition of it are also different in several ways. Firstly, ValГ
Ўzquez is not shown in
both paintings. In Diego
ValГЎzquez s painting, he painted himself on the left side painting on a canvas.
This is not seen in Pablo Picasso s rendition of the painting, because the only two
people seen are the princess and the maid of honor kneeling next to her. Secondly,
other people are not shown in both of the paintings. In Diego ValГЎzquez s painting,

private matters. But with technology advancing at such a rapid rate, the idea of
privacy might soon become something from a fairytale. Especially included, is one s
online persona. The American government has begun to derestrict itself from the
bounds of an individual s personal matters online. In reception, many Americans feel
that their natural given rights are being exploited. They feel that the government has
no justifiable reasons to be vigilating information that is not intended for anybody s

Sometimes, in order for an individual s own safety, sacrifices have to be made. The
government has full justification to arbitrate the people s online private matters
because it is necessary for the protection of the country and its citizens. One
example comes from an underground network called the deep web . The deep web
could be described as the wild west of the internet. Numerous amounts of
information are posted on the deep web where normal search engines like Google
or Bing do not show. According to Tyler Biscontini, a writer for the Salem Press,
the deep web is useful for many different reasons. It provides anonymity to anyone
using it. Special software must be downloaded in order to run the deep web. This
is mainly because the deep web s main feature is that the user s ip address is
changed so that they can roam the web free of the fear of being tracked. It also
provides a significant greater amount of information that is not accessible on a
normal browser. Journalist especially, use the deep web in order to dive into
research and scouting topics for future stories. However, the deep web can also be a
dangerous place. Many individuals take advantage of its features for wrongdoing.
Due to the anonymity that comes with accessing the deep web, it is hard to track
down individuals performing the crimes. Lev Grossman, a writer for Time Magazine,
describes an occurrence that happened

What Does The Light Symbolize In The Black Cat
Authors who write literature often put their feelings into their work which can cause
us to connect with how the authors feel sometimes. Authors as well have some sort
of past so that often without thinking write something that can be a symbolize
something from their past, so if they had a bad past then their literature may be
tragic or gothic. For example The Black Cat written by Edgar Allan Poeuses a light
and dark theme which can go along with the gothic theme. Light and Dark
symbolize how dark Poe s childhood was since he writes about death, murder, and
other gory storylines. Poe uses light and dark to show the different aspects of the
narrators and how guilt can consume a person. One example of the thesis is the
black cat who was in the wall with the corpse the whole time. The quote for this
found on page eight goes like this I had walled the monster up within the wall so the
narrator never noticed when the cat slipped into the tomb with the corpse and was in
the tomb for days. This quote supports the thesis... Show more content on

The quote for the light part of my thesis is I love the old man this represents the

this means that the guilt has consumed him but before that he went through so
much madness because of the vulture eye that it caused the narrator to murder the

because I believe that the old man had cataracts causing to have a vulture like eye
because vultures usually have a eye with cataracts. So in conclusion The Tell Tale

Canto 13 Of Dante s Inferno
In Canto 13 of Dante s The Inferno, Dante and Virgil come to a pathless wood that
twisted upward from Hell s floor (lines 2 3). This is the Wood of the Suicides, a
dark wood within circle seven in which those you commit suicide go. In lines 4 6,
Dante tells the readers that It s foliage was no verdant, but nearly black. The
unhealthy branches, gnarled and warped and tangles, bore poison thorns instead of
fruit. When viewing this quote from the allegorical critical lens, it becomes apparent
that each piece of the quote represents something else. The dark woods in itself can
be seen as an allegory for Hell, twisted and warped, void of color, and fruitless. The
unhealthy branches of the trees represent sin from each person, as nothing seems
The Discovery Of The Perspective’S Rules In Visual
Arts
The discovery of the perspective s rules in visual arts is celebrated as one of the major
turning points in human history, which fueled centuries long advancement and
developments in both artistic creations and scientific or engineering inventions as the
foundation for many breakthroughs of the modern times. It was the bridge between
the middle ages and the early modern period or more specifically the fifteenth century,
during Italian Renaissance, when the law of perspectivewas first introduced,
explained, published and started to become widely adopted by generations of artists,
painters, artist engineers and the like. Art historian and professor Samuel Edgerton,
however, reminds that the event should be rather noted as the rediscovery of... Show

Still, how was he able to accomplish the task? Long story short, he proposed to
construct two domes inside one another during the contest for the dome s design in
1418 and later claimed that he would bind the walls with tension rings of stone,
iron, and wood to control the outward pressure called hoop stress caused by the
structures (Mueller 86). Moreover, Mueller notes that he invented several lifting
machines and didn t use standard ground based scaffolding for the dome s
construction, which made the process less costly and more efficient, giving him a
great advantage over others, plus no one surpassed the lifts he invented for
centuries that followed (86 87). Back to the discovery of perspective or particularly
linear perspective in paintings, Brunelleschi actually figured one point perspective
through an experiment he performed near the unfinished Cathedral on which 11
years later, a huge dome from his designs would be raised, by using a mirror
reflection of a painting of the Florentine baptistry he drew, which was seen through a
hole made on the painting (Edgerton 124 125). Professor Edgerton argues his mirror
demonstration of geometrical nature of pictorial space had implications that extended
to the entire future of Western art and to science and technology from Copernicus to

After conducting a t test and regression in R, we can conclude that vegetation

significant effect of grassland vegetation by increasing vegetation richness and
diversity. As we already said, there was a greater variety of plants in the grassland
region with prairie dogs than in the region without prairie dogs. The fact that there
is more vegetation on a prairie dog colony region than off a prairie dog colony
suggests that sites inhabited by prairie dog populations will have a richer
distribution of plants and a healthier prairie ecosystem. Kotliar, N. B. (1999) and

Prevention And Treatment Of Periodontal Disease
Introduction
Periodontal disease is one of the most common chronic inflammatory diseases and is
also the second most frequent cause of tooth loss among adults. The toxins produced
by bacteria stimulate an inflammatory response in which the body turns upon itself
and results in the supporting tissues of the teeth being progressively destroyed.
Periodontal disease is multifactorial and susceptibility is dependent on the
composition of individual s microflora together with specific local and systemic risk
factors. Local risk factors include any plaque retentive features which hinders plaque
removal such as crowding, calculus, overhangs and orthodontic appliance. Systemic
risk factors include diabetes, genetic and smoking. Smoking is an important risk factor
for the initiation and progression of periodontal diseases and a number of researches
have demonstrated the detrimental effect of smoking on patient s periodontal status
as well as their response to periodontal treatment.
Content of cigarette
Smoking has widespread systemic effects as it contains over 4000 toxic chemicals
including Benzene, Formaldehyde and Ammonia. Benzene is a solvent used in
making fuel, Formaldehyde is used to preserve dead bodies and Ammonia can be
found in cleaning fluids. There are also potent carcinogens such as Nitrosamines and
Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons. The component of inhaled smoke includes nicotine
, carbon monoxide and tar. Nicotine has numerous effects such as increasing blood
pressure
Non Smoker Policy

Subject: Tennessee s Non Smoker Protection Act
Date: November 12, 2017 Policy Background
In 2007, Tennessee, one of the largest tobacco producing state in the United States
endorsed the Non Smoker Protection Act (NSPA) that banned smoking in enclosed
areas in Tennessee with some exceptions ( Information for Employers , n.d.). The
law went into effect on June 11, 2007 and municipalities had to observe it no longer
than October 1, 2007. This law was enforced by the Tennessee Department of Health.
In 2006, Tennessee ranked 5th in the highest percentage of current smokers among
the 50 states (Bauer L, 2008). The Tennessee legislature recognized smokingin public
places as a public health problem, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Raising taxes on tobacco products and implementing smoking cessation legislations
can minimize the prevalence of smoking up to 30 percent to 80 percent over a 50
year period (Ekpu Brown 2015).In 2009, NBC news stated that Kansas, one of the
states, considering banning smoking at enclosed areas showed that if they banned
smoking in restaurants, the state was going to save 20 million dollars in
healthcare costs (Associated Health, 2009). West Virginia state implemented
smoke free laws and had an increase of almost 1 percent in restaurant employment (
Smoke Free Laws do not Harm Business, 2017). Restaurant workers were more
comfortable coming in to work knowing they would be breathing in fresh air.
Although in Tennessee, percentage of adults who smoked in 2011 increased from
23 percent to 24.3 percent in 2015 (Fletcher, 2016). This increment was not that
significant considering the fact that it was over a period of just 4 years. The annual
health care cost in Tennessee directly to smoking increased from $2.16 billion in
2004 to $2.67 billion in 2017( The Toll of Tobacco in Tennessee , n.d.).
Tennessee s smoke ban was enacted not too long ago and it was too early to see a
major reduction health cost considering the fact that the state was and is one of the
top producers of tobacco in the country. The increase in health care cost could
potentially be

killed nearly 2,000people and affected almost 90,000 square miles of the United States
. The state of Louisianaevacuated approximately 1.5 million people before the storm
made landfall. However, about150,000 to 200,000 individuals still remained during
the storm (Hurricane Katrina). This tragedywas ranked as the costliest natural disaster
in the U.S. history, because it took the governmentseveral days to notice the disaster

Analysis Of The Book Romans
Introduction Reaching Chapter seven in the book of Romans, the framework for
Paul s theology has been laid out with a basis on God s righteousness and
humanity s sinfulness as illuminated by the Mosaic law. In Chapter seven Paul
furthers his discussion on the power of sin. This discussion offered by Paul must
be preceded by a discussion of who in fact Paul is referencing in this passage. The
question rests in his use of the word ОµОіПЋ translated I. The identity of this I is
debated amongst theologians. Answering the question of who is being referenced is
a longstanding question which begs exploration. The viewpoints are plentiful, yet the
prominence of the law and the nature of Paul s argument in other portions of this
letter and his... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This paper will thus, look at the specific views on Chapter 7 s I, not isolated from,
but in reference to the greater message in the book of Romans. I representing all
humanity The perspective, which takes the stance that Paul is referencing all
humanity, seeks to affirm the far reaching nature of sin. All humanity is affected by
sin and faces the same struggles that Paul is describing. This viewpoint s emphasis
on the reach of sin is expressed by Jan Lambrecht when he says: The inner conflict
and division can be experienced everywhere and at all times, by everybody
(Lambrecht 63). This viewpoint was brought to focus by KГјmmel at the beginning
of the 20th Century; In this epochal study, KГјmmel contends that the description of
the ОµОіПЋ in Rom 7 is purely a rhetorical device in which Paul s own experience
is not in view. Rom 7 pictures the human in general, who assents to the Law s
demand but is unable to accomplish it (Seifrid 313). Those who would hold to this
view would claim that Paul is using a known rhetorical device (Shogren 120). In
this view, the one who is speaking as I is merely a hypothetical speaker who serves
to represent humanity, rather than a specific individual or individuals. Additionally,
this view draws on Paul s motif throughout the letter of the equality of Jews and
Gentiles. It finds grounding in the preceding chapters of the book in which Paul

ENGL 3401 002

A Sick Day for Amos McGee by Philip C. Stead A Sick Day for Amos McGee is
about a friendly zookeeper, who always goes to the zoo, on the number five bus
every day to make time for his friends, which are the elephant, the tortoise, the
penguin, the rhinoceros, and the owl. He plays chess with the elephant, runs races
with the tortoise, sits with the penguin, always gives his handkerchief to the
rhinoceros, and reads to the owl. Then, one day the zookeeper gets sick and he is
not able to go to the zoo to his friends. So, his friends left the zoo on the number
five bus and visited his best friend at home to make him feel better. A Sick day for
Amos McGee won the Caldecott Medal in 2011 for the illustrations that were done
by Erin E. Stead, who is the wife of the author, Philip C. Stead. She made a speech
on her winning, saying A picture bookallows a child ownership of art even if it s just
for the two weeks they check it out of the library. That book is theirs. I m not sure
any other art for replicates that feeling. She is right, every picture book that a person
picks up, buys, or checks out is a piece of art because all picture book illustrations are
different and unique.
Illustrations in pictures are meant to make the use of the book for entertainment. The
illustrations that Erin C. Stead uses in her all of her books are woodblock or also
known as woodcut printing and then she draws on the top of the prints in pencil to
finish the illustration. This type of illustration was used in A Sick Day for Amos
McGee. Woodblock printing is a technique that is used to print text, images or
patterns. In an interview talking about the illustrations in her and her husband s
book, with MacMillan Children s on YouTube, the colors that are in the book are
stamped onto the page by a piece of wood. She carves each piece of wood into each
of the animals that are in the book. After she does that, she rolls the paint onto the
piece of wood and presses it to the paper. The colors that the illustrator s use was
blue, yellow, green, gray/black, orange, red, brown, and white. Red, yellow, and
oranges, are colors used to make the book suggest it has warmth, cheerfulness,

The competition is basically on price and profits. Other small and private carriers are
also competing with FedEx (Foust, 2003).
Strengths
Major strength of FedEx is its fastest home delivery service among all courier
companies.
Customer base of FedEx is its one major strength but proper attention should be paid
to maintain it properly.
Another huge privilege which FedEx possess is its Smart Post option which allows it
to utilize e commerce to carry out the courier delivery services.
It has gained the position of 2nd largest LTL carrier in US and thus has gained much
popularity among its clients.
It s well established online courier tracking services are gaining more and more
popularity in recent times thus allowing the clients to attract towards the company
more easily.
Innovation is one big advantage which FedEx carries and thus it keeps on innovating
new solutions for client s problems.
Weaknesses
One big weakness of FedEx is its inability in maintaining its competitive position in
the marketing especially in comparison to its big competitor named UPS.
Not completely but high costs are also making its success a bit away because
competitors offer such packages at low rates.
Although it is efficient but sometimes quality of services does not satisfy clients
which in case make the customer base decrease at a slower pace but it is still
dangerous for the company.

Diversity In The Military
ORIGINAL POST After fifteen and a half years later, I am in a position with the
United States Air Force in which I can effectively influence the organizational
behavior. As a senior non commissioned officer (SNCO) I can teach, grow, and
mentor a great number of very young people that make the choice to enter our ranks.
With nearly 650,000 total force personnel, you can imagine the diversity that must be
embraced. To fully discuss diversity within the military, we would be here much
longer than this assignment allows. For today, I am going to hone in on the
individual differences and intelligence. Diversity is the condition of having or being
composed of different elements . (Merriam Webster, 2017) Within the military, the
diversity ranges... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is a question that top levels of leadership have been battling for decades. There
is no single absolute answer. From my experience, working with one hundred
different people across ten different locations or offices, there are one hundred
different way to effectively incite positive work ethic and emotional intelligence. The
factors that come into play are the individual s background (i.e. where and how they
were raised), their age (what generation are they), their goals (both personal and
professional). These are just a few to start, but the list goes on. The key though is as a
good leader, we must find those buttons that trigger the outcomes we want, and start

Steel Garage Door Research Paper
Why The Common Steel Garage Door Is A Good Choice For Your Home
Steel garage doors have long been a popular choice for homeowners, and it s easy to
see why. Although you can choose a door made from wood, vinyl, or fiberglass, steel
is often the best way to go. Here are some reasons steel is a good choice when
shopping for a new garage door.
Steel Doors Match The Neighborhood
If you re the type of person who likes to blend in, then steel is a good choice
because chances are most of your neighbors have steel doors too. Steel doors not
only go well in any neighborhood, they also match any type of home and style of
architecture. Many people opt for plain white doors, but if you want to match your
home s paint colors, you can buy steel doors ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net
...
The least expensive doors consist of a single sheet of steel. The steel is strong
enough to keep out intruders, but it doesn t insulate your garage very well. More
expensive doors have double or triple layers to them with insulation filling the space
between. That makes them very energy efficient, which is helpful if you want to use
the garage as a workshop or exercise room.
Modern Steel Doors Resist Rust
Steel is known for rusting, but steel garage doors don t usually succumb to this
problem. For one thing, the color is factory finished so it acts as a protective
coating. If you scratch the paint off, you ll want to repair it so the bare metal doesn t
begin to rust. As long as the door is cared for and the paint is intact, it should last for
years without developing rust that causes squeaky operations or eyesores.
Steel Doors Offer Excellent Security
There s a reason steel is used for residential entry doors and commercial security
doors. It s strong and an excellent barrier against intruders. When you have a steel
door protecting your garage, you can store tools and other belongings in there
without worrying about theft. However, a door is only as strong as the lock, so if
security is a concern, be sure to have a good lock and that the side door and windows
are secure
Basic Database Design Concepts
The Fundamentals of Database Design
To end up with a good relational database application, you need to ask: Do I
actually need one? If so, how far do you want to take it? By this I mean, is this to
be a simple database to store information about only one, or very few, related entities
(i.e. a list of people who attended a certain event, and how they came to hear about
the event) which are not likely to change; or a permanent and well used application
with several different entities (i.e. Staff, Departments, Branches, SalesFigures for
various periods/staff members/departments) which are constantly changing. If the
forma is the case, a simple Flat File database is all that is required. There are several
basic database products on ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is extremely useful if the application is to be distributed among users and the
database itself can be centrally stored and maintained by database specialists. The
Development/Test db will be already in the correct format for the transfer to a
backend server and the Access application will be ready to connect to it.
Examine your current database
There is no need to reinvent the wheel. If you have a current system, have a good
look at your tables. If you need to make sub columns , or the same data needs to be
entered on many lines, the database is indeed set up wrong. This is very often
identified by spotting repeating attributes , within the same entity, or lists of values
for one attribute. For example, you may have a table called StaffMembers with an
attribute (a column heading) called CompletedCourses where you need to list
several courses for each staff member. To improve on this, the database needs to be
Normalised , and probably redesigned.
Design the database correctly from the outset
The first thing you need to do is make a list of items you need to store information
about. These are called Entities or Relations (or Classes in OOAD)
Next you need to list all the things about each Relation that you need to record.
These are the Relation s Attributes (or the Class Properties in OOAD). For example,

SUBJECT: MAVERICK LODGING CASE
Year 1999 Analysis
In 1999, the Maverick Lodging company implements balanced scorecard to establish
a measurement system and control the hotel level management. The balanced
scorecard has several attributes, such as tracking financial performance, tracking
nonfinancial measures and communicating franchisees and owners objectives of
growth. For financial performance, according to Exhibit 7, the Maverick Courtyard
has 3.77% growth rate, Maverick Fairfield Inn has 2.22% growth rate and Maverick
Residence Inn has 3.5% growth rate. For flow through flexible budget, both Maverick
... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, the colors and points system is complex because it is difficult to
connect colors and points to the bonus points and the 40% multiply factor may cause
managers confusions. Since it is hard to understand, the scorecard would have
problems on acceptance and the implementation process would be difficult. As a
result, the scorecard would not reach the maximum effectiveness and efficiency. The
second problem is that the scorecard contains uncontrollable factors for managers.
For example, managers performance will be measured by comparing the budgets and
actual expenses. However, hotel level managers have no right to determine the budget
and this measurement is unfair. As a result, many managers would be reluctant to
accept the scorecard. The third problem is that the scorecard is only implemented at
the hotel general management level. As stated in the case, the hotel general
management is the last level of the company management and they have no right to
discuss the components of the scorecard. In addition, the implementation process
lacks communication between different levels of managements. As a result, the
scorecard represents the top managements thoughts and may not be suitable for the
bottom level management. Also, the lack of communication may cause hindrance for
accepting and implementing the scorecards.

  • 3. Things Are Ugly, But We Are Here In Edwidge Danticat s article We are Ugly, but We Are Here , she describes the injustices of how women are treated in Haiti. She uses her grandmother, Haiti s former queen, and examples of other women as reasons as to how and why she realizes the seriousness and realness of the topic. Women are treated as if they were nothing. Their souls cry out. Danticat s argument is that even though women are treated the way that they are, they will not back down. A know saying is We are ugly, but we are here, (Danticat). Even though women have died, they will never be forgotten because of the strength they displayed while suffering. Danticat is wanting the reader to be aware of the women s suffrage still happening in the world. Even though they themselves may not be experiencing it, the injustice displayed upon women is a real thing. She stated in the article that my grandmother was an old country woman who always felt dis placed in the city... where we lived and had nothing but her patched up quilts and her stories to console her, (Danticat). The stories shared between Danticat and her grandmother are forever etched into her memory. Since death was such a commonality, Danticat was not even fazed when her grandmother passed. The fact of the emotionless death alone should shed a light on the terribleness of the situation. Death should never be an everyday thing. Another area that goes with Danticat s argument is that even the Queen Anacaona was not safe from the injustices. In fact,

  • 5. Fredrick s Use Of Falconers In Medieval Times In Europe, the ancient art of falconry is patently linked to Emperor Frederick II of Hohenstaufen. The exploration of falconry and hunting with hawks in the Middle Ages is based off Frederick s studies, mainly his book called De Arte Venandi Cum Avibus and his court at Palermo, Sicily. He affected and inspired falconers in medieval and modern society. He encountered Matthew of Paris and a few other famous rulers at his court in Palermo. Matthew of Paris proclaimed Frederick as Stupor Mundi, Latin for wonder of the world. He exchanged ideas with his scholars and expanded the practice of hawking throughout medieval Europe. For example: During the presidential debate that happened at the Al Smith Dinner for a charity on October 20th, 2016 there was a heated battle between Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton. The two politicians were roasting each other back and forth in a jokingly matter but in the audience s eyes, it seemed like a direct attack between one another. One of the lines which Trump said, shocked many of the guests who attended the charity that day. Hillary is so corrupt, she got kicked off the Watergate Commission. Code art. 27, В§ 534H,) regarding the opening times of the retail stores on Sundays. Facts Prince George s County filed identical petitions against two stores: Atlantic Department Store, Inc. and George s Radio and Television, Inc. that violated Md. Ann. Code art. 27, В§ 534H. The stores went to trial and claimed that the Code violates the First Amendment. There they had to admit that they did not meet any of the exemptions that would allow them to operate on a Sunday. They appealed the courts ruling and this time they asserted that В§ 534H violated the Establishment Clause of the First Amendment because they think that religion was the reason for the prohibition. And since their employees that were working on Sundays were not required to work in violation of their religious beliefs, the county had no right to set up this law. This really raised a lot of questions to me about who is in power and how big of a problem it is the those in power are not more diverse. We have struggled in society and have imprisoned so many behind stone walls of racism, sexism, and homophobia (Rudacille 140). It also raised awareness that the very same acts done by heterosexual couples were acceptable, and not punishable in the confines of the home, but that gays were not even safe in private. After the decision in Lawrence v Texas made by the U.S. Supreme Court, it was understood that the gay community had a chance to move forward into the light even more, and that their fight for freedom would not disappear. By declaring that it is unconstitutional to make arrests against gays in the home, it also declared that homosexuals should have the same rights as everyone else. It made it more acceptable and brought homosexuality into the light to where it was okay to talk about and dispute. Not only was it just an invasion of liberty, as the Court thought , but also the case enforced a bad law, a Homosexual Status Law, which made being gay a crime. In writing this paper, I went back to the very beginning of our discussions, and looked at my very first discussion post on the Stonewall Uprising. I realized, that while we did do a lot of court case focused work, that I still learned a lot even outside of these cases. I wanted to post both my

The four drugs tested consisted of: Lidocaine, Acetylcholine, Caffeine, and Nicotine. These drugs were designed to have an apparent effect on the average heart rate of the Daphnia. The laboratory exercise was divided into two parts and procedures: measuring the basal heart rateof Daphnia, and measuring the druginduced heart rate of Daphnia. These drugs were utilized in order to demonstrate the positive and negative effects on cell communication. Cell communication consists of three steps: reception, transduction, and response. Reception involves the binding of a ligand and a receptor; transduction is a cascade of actions between molecules and their proteins, and response is the change that occurs afterwards (1). The goal of this laboratory exercise was to observe and determine the effects of chemical agents on Daphnia s cell communication receptors. Different drugs have different effects on the circulatory system, and with higher concentrations of each, come more serious effects (3). The hypothesis for this laboratory exercise was: if Daphnia were placed into Caffeine or Nicotine, then their heart rate would increase. In comparison, if Daphnia were placed into Acetylcholine or Lidocaine, then their heart rate would decrease. Methods and Materials: In order to complete this exercise, two different procedures were conducted; one measured the basal heart rate, and the other measured the drug induced heart rate. A sample s basal heart rate can be defined as the resting heart rate. This is when no drugs or altering substances are applied. In comparison, the drug induced heart rate of a sample can be defined as the heart rate after the drug was administered to the surrounding environment. The four drugs tested on the Daphnia specimens were Acetylcholine, Caffeine,

Abstract The aim of this laboratory experiment was to investigate the effect of hydrogen peroxide concentration on the rate at which oxygen is produced when the volume and temperature of 50% catalase and volume of hydrogen peroxide solution are kept constant. It was expected that if the concentration of hydrogen peroxide increased, then the production rate of oxygen gas would also increase until the enzyme became saturated, following the Michaelis Menten relationship. For this to apply, the volume and temperature of 50% catalase and volume of hydrogen peroxide solution were kept constant. Six different concentrations were used ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However the graph of the rate of O2 production for this experiment does not follow the Michaelis Mentan relationship (Figure 9). Reasons for this could have been the inability to record gas production in time intervals shorter than 10 seconds because the reaction occurred so rapidly. The first measurement of O2 produced was recorded at 10 seconds, however by this time the reaction had already completed (Figure 10), meaning the exact finishing point (between 1 10 seconds) of the reaction was unknown. This then disturbs the calculation of the rate of O2 production. Authorization policies therefore govern the disclosure and modification of information. Access controls are 3 procedures that are designed to control authorizations. They are responsible to limit access to stored data to authorized users only. В· Integrity, Consistency An integrity policy states a set of rules (i. e. semantic integrity constraints) that define the correct states of the database during database operation and therefore can protect against malicious or accidental modification of information. Closely related issues to integrity and consistency are concurrency control and recovery. Concurrency control policies protect the integrity of the database in the presence of concurrent transactions. If these transactions do not terminate normally due to system crashes or security violations recovery techniques are used to reconstruct correct or valid database states. В· Auditing The requirement to keep records of all security relevant actions issued by a user is called auditing. Resulting audit records are the basis for further reviews and examinations in order to test the adequacy of system controls and to recommend any changes in the security policy.

They gave entirely different description of their voyages. Columbus was not very interested in the native s life style or their religion. Even though Columbus s explorations were one of the most important in history, his ambition after discovering the New World led him to commit a series of atrocities in the name of the Crown. He was more on the path of looking for gold, valuables and power. In my opinion he didn t respect the villages and islands he encountered. Last thing I knew, it was the year 1514, and I was a sickly man in Rome. I m feeling much better now. The Capitol Building pulls this same strategy off perfectly! Surely, the architects of the building known as William Thorton, Benjamin Henry Latrobe, and Charles Bulfinch (SOURCE), must have drew upon my plan of St. Peter s for inspiration. I am not sure if they knew this or not, but I also used classical columns on another masterpiece of mine that is known as the Tempietto at San Pietro in Montorio (SOURCE). Unlike at St. Peter s, at the Tempietto I used the Doric order of columns (SOURCE). I find both orders to be great outlets of my artistic abilities, and both pleasing to the eye. I immediately gave him the I cannot believe you just did that look and he just laughed, not seeming to mind that a Buehlers associate was only a couple yards from us. When I think about this it is easy for me to say that I am nothing like my Father. Sarah Vowell also felt very different compared to her dad when she wrote the essay Shooting Dad . However when Vowell looks past their differences she finds how similar she is to her Father. I find this to be true about many child parentrelationships, even if the child does not wish to be like their parents. Children cannot prevent themselves from becoming similar to their parents. Throughout Shooting Dad Vowell discovers how similar she is compared to her Father. She starts off her essay by examining differences between her and her dad by saying, You could have looked at the Democratic campaign poster in the upstairs window and Republican in the downstairs window . This was supposed to demonstrate a major differencebetween Vowell and her Father. However when I read this I see two people who share an intense passion for politics. In The First Act, the script directs there to be four people around a fire, on a mixed arrangement of indoor chairs, sports or lawn chairs and a fancy new couch, this set allows the audience to view the scene as something of a fuse of scavenged materials, making it known that, in this point in civilization, it is essential to acquire anything that is possible. There is a couple of examples of how he shows his motivation. One is, when he is seen traveling on a donkey because his horse got stolen. Secondly, he is traveling on a donkey, having four days left to get there. Thirdly, he is traveling being $3,000 short for the entrance fee to the game. Additionally, the path that he has to travel seems dangerous, considering it s a dessert. Lastly, he even says, no way in hell I was going to miss that game Maverick (1994). All his actions where clearly because of his motivation. The function of this scenario in the overall narrative of the film was to identify with the protagonist reaching his main goal. In the beginning scene, the protagonist was immediately introduced and portrayed as the good guy. This was seen when that he gets into danger while trying to reach his goal. It shows that the main character will have to go through a number of chain of event to get to the main goal, including overcoming danger. Pablo Picasso s rendition shown at the top of the page (right) is only one of his recreations of Las Meninas , made in 1957 . There are many similarities and differences between both the original and Pablo Picasso s rendition of Las Meninas , as well as several reasons why they made the paintings and what the artists were trying to portray.Diego ValГ Ўzquez s Las Meninas and Pablo Picasso s rendition of it are similar in several ways. First, both paintings share some of the same objects. The princess, infantana margarita, is in the center of both paintings. Secondly, there is a maid of honor (a royal servant) kneeling to the left side of the princess in both paintings. Thirdly, both of the paintings also have the same focus. The focus of the paintings is the princess and her maids of honor. In Diego ValГЎzquez s painting, the princess and her maids of honor are towards the front and in the center, and the same is made apparent in Pablo Picasso s rendition. Finally, you can see the building in which the paintings are taken place in both of them. It is very obvious in Diego ValГЎzquez s painting, put a little less so in Pablo Picasso s painting. It was the bridge between the middle ages and the early modern period or more specifically the fifteenth century, during Italian Renaissance, when the law of perspectivewas first introduced, explained, published and started to become widely adopted by generations of artists, painters, artist engineers and the like. Still, how was he able to accomplish the task? Long story short, he proposed to construct two domes inside one another during the contest for the dome s design in 1418 and later claimed that he would bind the walls with tension rings of stone, iron, and wood to control the outward pressure called hoop stress caused by the structures (Mueller 86). Moreover, Mueller notes that he invented several lifting machines and didn t use standard ground based scaffolding for the dome s construction, which made the process less costly and more efficient, giving him a great advantage over others, plus no one surpassed the lifts he invented for centuries that followed (86 87). Back to the discovery of perspective or particularly linear perspective in paintings, Brunelleschi actually figured one point perspective through an experiment he performed near the unfinished Cathedral on which 11 years later, a huge dome from his designs would be raised, by using a mirror reflection of a painting of the Florentine baptistry he drew, which was seen through a hole made on the painting (Edgerton 124 125). The law went into effect on June 11, 2007 and municipalities had to observe it no longer than October 1, 2007. This law was enforced by the Tennessee Department of Health. In 2006, Tennessee ranked 5th in the highest percentage of current smokers among the 50 states (Bauer L, 2008). The Tennessee legislature recognized smokingin public places as a public health problem, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Raising taxes on tobacco products and implementing smoking cessation legislations can minimize the prevalence of smoking up to 30 percent to 80 percent over a 50 year period (Ekpu Brown 2015).In 2009, NBC news stated that Kansas, one of the states, considering banning smoking at enclosed areas showed that if they banned smoking in restaurants, the state was going to save 20 million dollars in healthcare costs (Associated Health, 2009). West Virginia state implemented smoke free laws and had an increase of almost 1 percent in restaurant employment ( Smoke Free Laws do not Harm Business, 2017). Restaurant workers were more comfortable coming in to work knowing they would be breathing in fresh air. Although in Tennessee, percentage of adults who smoked in 2011 increased from 23 percent to 24.3 percent in 2015 (Fletcher, 2016). This increment was not that significant considering the fact that it was over a period of just 4 years. The annual health care cost in Tennessee directly to smoking increased from $2.16 billion in 2004 to $2.67 billion in 2017( The Toll of Tobacco in Tennessee , n.d.). Tennessee s smoke ban was enacted not too long ago and it was too early to see a major reduction health cost considering the fact that the state was and is one of the top producers of tobacco in the country. The increase in health care cost could potentially be

  • 45. Analysis Of The Book Romans Introduction Reaching Chapter seven in the book of Romans, the framework for Paul s theology has been laid out with a basis on God s righteousness and humanity s sinfulness as illuminated by the Mosaic law. In Chapter seven Paul furthers his discussion on the power of sin. This discussion offered by Paul must be preceded by a discussion of who in fact Paul is referencing in this passage. The question rests in his use of the word ОµОіПЋ translated I. The identity of this I is debated amongst theologians. Answering the question of who is being referenced is a longstanding question which begs exploration. The viewpoints are plentiful, yet the prominence of the law and the nature of Paul s argument in other portions of this letter and his... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This paper will thus, look at the specific views on Chapter 7 s I, not isolated from, but in reference to the greater message in the book of Romans. I representing all humanity The perspective, which takes the stance that Paul is referencing all humanity, seeks to affirm the far reaching nature of sin. All humanity is affected by sin and faces the same struggles that Paul is describing. This viewpoint s emphasis on the reach of sin is expressed by Jan Lambrecht when he says: The inner conflict and division can be experienced everywhere and at all times, by everybody (Lambrecht 63). This viewpoint was brought to focus by KГјmmel at the beginning of the 20th Century; In this epochal study, KГјmmel contends that the description of the ОµОіПЋ in Rom 7 is purely a rhetorical device in which Paul s own experience is not in view. Rom 7 pictures the human in general, who assents to the Law s demand but is unable to accomplish it (Seifrid 313). Those who would hold to this view would claim that Paul is using a known rhetorical device (Shogren 120). In this view, the one who is speaking as I is merely a hypothetical speaker who serves to represent humanity, rather than a specific individual or individuals. Additionally, this view draws on Paul s motif throughout the letter of the equality of Jews and Gentiles. It finds grounding in the preceding chapters of the book in which Paul

Illustrations in pictures are meant to make the use of the book for entertainment. The illustrations that Erin C. • 51. Steel Garage Door Research Paper Why The Common Steel Garage Door Is A Good Choice For Your Home Steel garage doors have long been a popular choice for homeowners, and it s easy to see why. Although you can choose a door made from wood, vinyl, or fiberglass, steel is often the best way to go. Here are some reasons steel is a good choice when shopping for a new garage door. Steel Doors Match The Neighborhood If you re the type of person who likes to blend in, then steel is a good choice because chances are most of your neighbors have steel doors too. Steel doors not only go well in any neighborhood, they also match any type of home and style of architecture. Many people opt for plain white doors, but if you want to match your home s paint colors, you can buy steel doors ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The least expensive doors consist of a single sheet of steel. The steel is strong enough to keep out intruders, but it doesn t insulate your garage very well. More expensive doors have double or triple layers to them with insulation filling the space between. That makes them very energy efficient, which is helpful if you want to use the garage as a workshop or exercise room. Modern Steel Doors Resist Rust Steel is known for rusting, but steel garage doors don t usually succumb to this problem. For one thing, the color is factory finished so it acts as a protective coating. If you scratch the paint off, you ll want to repair it so the bare metal doesn t begin to rust. As long as the door is cared for and the paint is intact, it should last for years without developing rust that causes squeaky operations or eyesores. Steel Doors Offer Excellent Security There s a reason steel is used for residential entry doors and commercial security doors. It s strong and an excellent barrier against intruders. When you have a steel door protecting your garage, you can store tools and other belongings in there without worrying about theft. However, a door is only as strong as the lock, so if security is a concern, be sure to have a good lock and that the side door and windows are secure
  • 52. Basic Database Design Concepts The Fundamentals of Database Design To end up with a good relational database application, you need to ask: Do I actually need one? If so, how far do you want to take it? By this I mean, is this to be a simple database to store information about only one, or very few, related entities (i.e. a list of people who attended a certain event, and how they came to hear about the event) which are not likely to change; or a permanent and well used application with several different entities (i.e. Staff, Departments, Branches, SalesFigures for various periods/staff members/departments) which are constantly changing. If the forma is the case, a simple Flat File database is all that is required. There are several basic database products on ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is extremely useful if the application is to be distributed among users and the database itself can be centrally stored and maintained by database specialists. The Development/Test db will be already in the correct format for the transfer to a backend server and the Access application will be ready to connect to it. Examine your current database There is no need to reinvent the wheel. If you have a current system, have a good look at your tables. If you need to make sub columns , or the same data needs to be entered on many lines, the database is indeed set up wrong. This is very often identified by spotting repeating attributes , within the same entity, or lists of values for one attribute. For example, you may have a table called StaffMembers with an attribute (a column heading) called CompletedCourses where you need to list several courses for each staff member. To improve on this, the database needs to be Normalised , and probably redesigned. Design the database correctly from the outset The first thing you need to do is make a list of items you need to store information about. These are called Entities or Relations (or Classes in OOAD) Next you need to list all the things about each Relation that you need to record. These are the Relation s Attributes (or the Class Properties in OOAD). For example, one

For example, the colors and points system is complex because it is difficult to connect colors and points to the bonus points and the 40% multiply factor may cause managers confusions. Since it is hard to understand, the scorecard would have problems on acceptance and the implementation process would be difficult. As a result, the scorecard would not reach the maximum effectiveness and efficiency. The second problem is that the scorecard contains uncontrollable factors for managers. For example, managers performance will be measured by comparing the budgets and actual expenses. However, hotel level managers have no right to determine the budget and this measurement is unfair. As a result, many managers would be reluctant to accept the scorecard. The third problem is that the scorecard is only implemented at the hotel general management level. As stated in the case, the hotel general management is the last level of the company management and they have no right to discuss the components of the scorecard. In addition, the implementation process lacks communication between different levels of managements. As a result, the scorecard represents the top managements thoughts and may not be suitable for the bottom level management. Also, the lack of communication may cause hindrance for accepting and implementing the scorecards. Flow through Flexible Budget The
