achievement and difficulties of students who are d/Deaf and hard of hearing (d/Dhh) are discussed.
Second, it justifies the theoretical framework of the study with three primary sources: Simple View
of Reading (Gough Tunmer, 1986; Hoover Gough, 1990), the National ReadingPanel (NRP, 2000),
and the Qualitative Similarity Hypothesis (QSH) (Paul, Wang, Williams, 2013). Next, Visual

It s simply too depressing. Today s news stories are explicit enough to make adults cringe, leaving
children staggering. Images of injured, suffering, and the deceased often fill our television sets with
reality violence. The news, however, is not the only type of media violence affecting children.
Even family oriented cartoons such as the Looney Tunes starring household names such as Bugs
Bunny, Wildie Coyote, and the Road Runner portray a lot of violence. Unfortunately, these types
of violence are often rewarded with a laugh. While it may be comedic to adults, children are
witnessing acts of violence that happen without punishment. Many of these acts of violence would

The interactions between Native Americans and Europeans were beneficial as well as detrimental
for both parties. From the introduction of new crops and items to the alteration in gender roles, the
clashing of two completely different cultures had a lasting impact.
When Europeans first settled in America, there were many obstacles along the way. There was a
struggle for survival and fortunately, the natives were present to help by teaching the Europeans
how to grow crops, fish, and hunt. Farming allowed for the introduction of foreign crops such as
corn, potatoes, and beans into their diets which improved their health and extended their life. The
gathering of nuts and berries also became a part of their diet. Hunting and fishing eventually
became a way of life for some Europeans and led to competition for forest resources with natives.
Climate differences caused the European clothing to experience minimal change with clothing
commonly used by the Indians being incorporated into the European style due to its practicality.
Men began wearing moccasins, leggings, and hunting shirts for comfort as well as a form of stating

The public schooling system is not the same since they have been dwindling down the right for
religion to be in schools. Religion needs to be put back into the school system so then maybe
people will be more informed on things out in the real world. I am not saying that it needs to be a
required course, however, give students the opportunity to learn about it. Among just making it a
course in itself one course it could be reintroduced to is the science class. They talk about evolution
but yet they do not teach about creationism. In history classes they can reintroduce religionbecause
