A personality inventory is a standardized questionnaire that asks individuals to report their feelings or reactions in certain situations. It is a self-assessment tool used by career counselors to help people learn about their personality types, including their social traits, motivations, strengths, and weaknesses. The most commonly used personality inventory for diagnosing psychological disorders is the Minnesota Multi-phasic Personality Inventory (MMPI), which consists of 550 true/false statements scored according to how they correspond with responses from people with various psychological disorders like depression or schizophrenia. Another personality inventory is the California Psychological Inventory (CPI), which assesses traits such as dominance, responsibility, and socialization using less extreme measures than the MMPI.
