This document summarizes research on surgical treatments for perilunate injuries of the wrist. A literature review identified 365 patients who received various treatments including open reduction internal fixation (ORIF), closed reduction internal fixation (CRIF), and other procedures. Outcomes were generally better with acute treatment (<7 days) compared to delayed (7-45 days) or chronic (>45 days) treatment. For acute lesser arc injuries, CRIF showed better outcomes than ORIF, while ORIF had superior results for greater arc fractures. Treatment of chronic injuries typically involved ORIF or salvage procedures like proximal row carpectomy.
