Increasing Trend Of Non Albicans Cutaneous Candidiasis
Increasing trend in Non albicans Cutaneous Candidiasis: Implications in treatment strategies
Introduction:
Cutaneous candidiasis is a secondary infection of the skin (body folds) and nails in predisposed
patients.1 The disease involvement may be localised or generalised to the skin or nails.2
The clinical manifestations of Candidiasis are of three types: mucocutaneous, cutaneous, and
systemic.3 The spectrum of Cutaneous candidiasis (CC): includes intertrigo, diaper candidiasis,
paronychia, and onychomycosis.4 Infections thrush, intertrigo, enterogastritis and others have long
been known to be due to abnormal proliferation of Candida cells.5
Candida species other than C.albicans have become a significant cause of infection in humans.6
Several of these species are less susceptible to commonly used azole antifungal drugs.6
Hence, the identification of the Candida isolates upto species level along with their antifungal
susceptibility patterns can greatly influence the treatment options for the clinicians and may have an
impact on the patient care.7 Hence this study was done.
Aims and objectives:
1. To isolate Candida species from suspected cases of Cutaneous Candidiasis.
2. To speciate the isolated Candida.
3. To find the antifungal susceptibility for voriconazole and fluconazole among the isolates.
Materials Methods:
A total of 200 patients presenting with the symptoms of Cutaneous

Foundational Biblical Worldview
Paul is writing the book of Romans as an occasional letter to the believers in Rome, whom he has
never personally met, but desires to connect with very soon. It appears to be a pastoral letter written in
an apocalyptic style, because he is dealing with a church that needs direction. He is writing boldly to
them to encourage unity as God s people. Romans 15:15 attests to the strength of his message when he
states, I have written very boldly to you on some points . Paul is in essence building a framework of
beliefs for believers to view the world around them (Caner Hindson. 2008. Pg.498). Romans though
not a systematic theological message, chapters 1 8 are strong truths for a foundational biblical
worldview.
The natural world and all ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This movement didn t happen overnight, but it is a production of the human nature. The human or
sinful worldview demands for its own rights, its own way, its own desires to be fulfilled. Continuing
to build a foundational message with boldness, Paul explains that the reason God sent the law was to
bring our sin to our attention so we would realize how desperately we need His grace. He points out
that sin had already conquered the human race long before the Law arrived, which is indisputably
proved by the fact that sin had already produced death in every human (Romans 5:21 New Living
Testament). Sin and self separate us from God, grace brings us near. Romans 6. Since we have united
with him in his death, we will also raise to life as he was. Verse 12 Paul remind believers that our life
in Christ gives us power over so, Do not let sin control the way you live do not give in to sinful
desires.
A lesson that I have learned the hard way is that people will let you down, but God never will. Another
important aspect for a foundation of a biblical worldview is in human relationships. From the
beginning God intended for man to interact and be fruitful with one another in harmonious
relationships (Genesis 2:18, New Living Testament). But when man fell into sin, it brought about
every manner of

The Qualification of Daphne Du Maurier s Rebecca as a...
The Qualification of Daphne Du Maurier s Rebecca as a Gothic Novel One of mankind s most
valuable gifts is the ability to feel emotions and be able to react to them in a variety of ways. One of
these emotions can be recognized as horror. Horror can be directly related as an immense sensation of
fear, anxiety, and despair. Horror is adored by some and abhorred by others. Most importantly, there
exist many sources for frightening media and information. One genre of literature that tends to provide
horror can be known as Gothic Literature. Within this genre, many books serve as accurate
representations. Rebecca by Daphne Du Maurier most definitely qualifies as a Gothic novel due to its
precise portrayal of multiple elements of Gothic Literature such as eerie settings, presence of
distressed characters, and unfortunate events combined with bad weather. Before examining Rebecca s
validity as an accurate representation of Gothic literature, it is imperative for one to understand the
definition and origin of this genre. Gothic literature is a style of writing which involves, ... mystery
and supernatural horror, often set in a dark castle or other medieval setting (Dictionary). One of the
most interesting facts of Gothic literature is that its origins are diverse considering that it developed as
a sub branch of Romanticism. This genre developed from numerous prior plays and writings which
discussed superstition, the evident supernatural, and various demons. An

Jules Verne s Twenty-Thousand Leagues Under The Sea
Can you view the psychological view of Captain Nemo s anger? Who knows what is going on inside

overwhelming view into historical events which persuaded the work. In this paper I will transform to
you the psychological perspective of Captain Nemo. What causes him to be so angry? What are the
outcomes of his self destructive ways, and criticism. The author Deborah Solomon insisted that anger
issues need to be put aside. If she is getting in trouble for the same anger issues, then why let the same

A Small Place Part 3 Rhetorical Analysis
A Small Place Part 3 Rhetorical Analysis
A Small Place, a novel written by Jamaica Kincaid, is a story relating to the small country of Antigua
and its dilemmas from Jamaica Kincaid s point of view. In this novel Kincaid is trying to inform her
audience that Antigua is in a poor state due to British imperial, government corruption, and tourism.
Kincaid exposes her audience to the effect of these very problems in Antigua by using persuasive
visual language. In the third part of Jamaica Kincaid s A Small Place, Kincaid does an exceptional job
in arguing that, her country Antigua has corrupt government officials due to British influence by
appealing effectively to pathos, logos, and ethos.
Antigua is a beautiful island in the Caribbean that got its name from Christopher Columbus in 1493
when he first visited the small 108 square mile island (Niddrie). Antigua was later colonized by
England in 1632, and won its independence in 1981 (Niddrie). Antigua was originally a country that
was planned as a slave breeding colony, but never became one; the slaves who were imported came to
live self reliantly in their own community (Niddrie). After, Antigua gained its independence; it
established a constitutional monarchy, where the British monarch is still head of state, represented by
a governor general (Niddrie). Sadly, Antigua is an impoverished country that has a history of being a
victim of British imperialism, government corruption, and tourism (Kincaid). Kincaid informs her

Medical Ethics Case Study Essay
Medical Ethics Case Study
Introduction
Professionals in every field are always confronted with some kind of ethical issues. It has however
been noted that these ethical issues become high in magnitude and extent when public officials are
involved. Due to the involvement of human life, an industry like healthcare holds ethics in highest
regard. Even though these healthcare practitioners are highly trained to deal with issues of these kinds,
their decisions can sometimes have a lasting impact on their professional and personal lives (Edwards
2009).
The general awareness among patients on their rights during a medical procedure often conflict with
the morals of the healthcare industry. Many times healthcare professionals are caught between ...

Yeo (2010) point out that the possibility to retain some information from patients has been ordered for
long in Australian law, as in other countries for the benefit of the patient. This has now been combined
with the greater autonomy acknowledged to the patient in many jurisdictions. Although a clinical
approach reveals that loyalty should guide the patient physician relationship, there are still some
situations in which information consent and truth telling may be controversial: in some circumstances,
the physician should or may not tell the truth. The case at hand poses a dilemma regarding the right to
know (Cherry Jacob 2008).
There are a number of key elements that help to provide a framework that enhances truthful
communication. Firstly, there is the need to develop open and honest communication from the very
beginning of the patient health professional relationship. Secondly, the health professional needs to
use patient penchant as a weigh by asking them what they wish to know, how much they wish to
know, and determining what they already know. In other words, it is a responsibility of the health
professional to get a feel for the situation, including the patients perception of the situation (Ashcroft,
Dawson Drape 2007).
However, in the patient physician relationship, two autonomies are

Critical Analysis Of Sonnet 130
Sonnet 130 by William Shakespeare is undoubtedly one of the most influential pieces of poetry in the
history of humankind. It is a standard 14 line Shakespearian sonnet that describes the beauty of a
woman in comparison the beauties of the world the speaker admires the most. Unlike Petrarch whose
sonnets about the beauty of Beatrice were all aimed at picturing the godlike appearance and the
personal traits of his beloved woman, sonnet 130 by Shakespeare goes in the opposite direction. This
particular sonnet is unusual and, in a certain regard, revolutionary for the late renaissance poetry as it
steps back from the image of the woman as a goddess, a heavenly angel who delights the world with
her presence. Sonnet 130 describes a woman as she really is, a woman with flaws, a woman who is
not the most beautiful one in existence, a woman who might not be compared to the most admirable
wonders of the world yet a woman whom the speaker loves dearly and considers the most important
woman in his life.
Shakespeare starts the sonnet with comparing the physical traits of his mistress to the beauties of the
world. The comparison, as it was said above, is not usual for the poetry of the time. Precisely, the
comparison does not relate to the features of the described woman:
My mistress eyes are nothing like the sun;
Coral is far more red than her lips red;
If snow be white, why then her breasts are dun;
If hairs be wires, black wires grow on her head (Shakespeare).
The author admits that there are wonders in the world that are far more superior to the beauty of his
mistress. He admits it fairly and without hesitations. The author knows what his beloved woman really
is, he is realistic about her and, at this point, this feature of the sonnet makes it the most outstanding
example of the late renaissance literature. The author seems to abandon the overexaggerated beauty
standards of the time, he leaves behind the cliches of his era and allows himself to be as realistic as no
one dared to be before. He does speak of an angel who came to our world as a gift from the Kingdom
of Heaven, he speaks of an earthly woman whose beauty is not as evident as the beauty of Beatrice
from Petrarchan sonnets. The beauty of the speaker s

Mockingjay Use Of Propaganda
The term propaganda is used to describe information that is usually biased or misleading used to
promote or publicize a certain view on a cause. In the Mockingjay propaganda is used to keep the
districts in line and in favor of the Capital. As the hunger games continues a new leader arose and
began to turn people and districts against the Capital creating their own propaganda. Although this is a
fictional story, the reality of propaganda rings true. The Capital and the rebellion have different ways
of communicating their propaganda. The Capital wishes to achieve the way things used to be where
the districts supplied and feared the Capital. Whereas the rebellion wants to bring the districts together
and fight against the wrong of the Capital. The Capital and the rebellion, although different strategies,
both achieve their purpose. Throughout the story of the Mockingjay the Capital used propaganda to
try to keep and gain trust from not only the districts but also within the Capital. One way the Capital
decides to do this is by using a familiar and loved face for the so to speak, face of the capital. Peeta

The Capital used a strategy that in the end was great. However, the Rebels propaganda was able to
align people in the war against one single enemy, President Snow. Propaganda is a strong force that
can easily make someone change their opinion on an issue or political standpoint. Propaganda is hard
to deal with because it makes you question who you are and what you believe. This is why it is so
important in swaying people s vote. Propaganda can be a weapon if used correctly. An example of this
is how the Rebels did all their propos making it counter the broadcast or attacks of the Capital. In the
end, propaganda is a delicate weapon that messes with peoples minds and

The Election Between Lyndon B. Johnson And Barry Goldwater...
The 1964 American election between Lyndon B. Johnson and Barry Goldwater has strong similarities
with the 2016 election between Hillary Clinton and Donald J. Trump. In both cases, the democrat
candidates focused more on their counterpart s rhetoric rather than uphold their own ideas in an
attempt to persuade voters to support them. This essay will argue that the Democrat candidates of the
1964 and 2016 elections, in many instances, instead of focusing on their political proposals, focused
on anti intellectualism by emphasizing their opponent s extremist right winger rhetoric. This
comparison shows the enduring trends of right wing extremism, racial conflicts, and republican
divisiveness. To prove this argument, this text will analyze Democrat campaign advertisements in both
campaigns, Nelson A Rockefeller speech at the 1964 National Republican convention and Jeb Bush
interview to NBC.
In order to compare these two influential elections, one must first have a firm grasp of the
historiography of both elections. The 1964 election was the 45th quadrennial presidential election. It
had a lot of controversy around it due to the Republican nomination of politician and businessman
Barry M. Goldwater for the president run. He outweighed prominent Republican candidates, for
instance, Nelson A. Rockefeller. Goldwater did not have the support of his own party to run the
election and underwent heavy criticism due to his unpopular conservative political position. He faced
the Democrat

Nurse Poaching Poor Countries
I believe that nurse poaching from poor nations is unethical. Although there appears to be a shortage
in both developing and developed countries, a nurse should not have to feel that to become successful,
one must leave his or her homeland and family. Each country should address the nursing shortage and
create a system beneficial for recruiting and maintaining nurses within the country instead of
recruiting from poor nations. I believe that enticing nurses from developing countries by offering high
salaries is unfair and unethical because it worsens the state of the developing country by creating a
higher nursing shortage and devastatingly breaks the nurse s family apart.

Tim Duncan may have played his last game in the NBA. With his team bowing out to the Oklahoma

The Spurs are OLD. San Antonio heavily relies on younger players like Kawhi Leonard and LaMarcus

The Objectives Of The Operation Bodyguard
Operation Bodyguard was the operation name for the subterfuge leading up to the D Day invasion.
There were three main objectives for this operation: convincing the Germans that Pas de Calais was
the main invasion target, keeping secret the date and time of the invasion of the Normandy beaches,
and keeping German reinforcements from heading to the Normandy beaches. The planning for this
operation started with First Thoughts, a paper created on July 14th, 1943 which had many of the ideas
represented in Operation Bodyguard. At first, the Allied high command was dubious of using
deception as it did not work well in Operation Cockade. This was an operation done to confuse
German high command and draw them into air battles. However, the Germans barely responded to the
fake invasion force and the operation was a failure. Yet, even with this mistrust of deception and use
of subterfuge, Operation Bodyguard was approved on December 25th, 1943. The largest operation in
Operation Bodyguard was Operation Fortitude, which could also be argued that it had the largest
impact on D Day. The objective of this was operation was to convince the German high command that
the Allies had a very large force in Britain and in Edinburgh which were going to be used to invade
both Norway and Pas de Calais. Due to it being a large operation, it was divided into two sub plans:
Fortitude North and Fortitude South. Fortitude North was focused on creating the illusion that the

The Devaluation And Depreciations Of Australian Dollar...
This article is mainly focus on the devaluation and depreciations of Australian dollar against US
dollar, euro, pound and yen comparing in terms of floating exchange rate. The phenomena behind
fixed exchange rate and floating rate is; fixed exchange rate is a rate that is set or fixed by the
government or central bank to maintain its currency against gold or another major currency such US
dollar or the currency basket. In fixed exchange rate, the country s central bank or other concerns will
maintain exchange rate by buying and selling its own currency on foreign exchange. The article was
focusing on successful parties and defeated parties due to Australian dollar fluctuations.
The effect of depreciation and devaluation of currency is mixed on whole economy, as if exporters are
in good place but if they are relaying on imported machinery, fuel, fertilizers and other imported
inputs, so falling Australian dollar will raise the cost of these products. Same goes with people
travelling to their home land at Christmas time or travelling in holidays they find it feasible to convert
the currency rather than wait for Australian dollar to grow.
The reasons that depreciates Australian dollar are as follows, though in the article main focus was on
interest rates and inflation but the discussion will not be completed if under the carpet factors are not
discussed:
a. Inflation

Toilet Seat Dermatitis Essay
A CASE REPORT OF TOILET SEAT DERMATITIS
ABSTRACT:
Toilet seat dermatitis is a contact dermatitis involving the posterior thighs and the gluteal region
resulting from contact with toilet seats. It was commonly seen with wooden toilet seats. It is more
frequently seen on usage of public toilets where harsher cleansers are used. Here we describe a case of
pruritic symmentric erythematous eruption over the posterior thighs and the lower gluteal area in a 5
year old atopic boy.
Key words: Toilet seat dermatitis, contact dermatitis, irritant dermatitis.
INTRODUCTION:
Toilet seat dermatitis was first described in in 1927 by Mackee who stated that it was a form of contact
dermatitis occurring on the gluteal area and thighs coming in contact with the ... Show more content

Detergents were used to clean the toilet seats regularly. No toilet seat cover was used.
On examination erythematous scaly excoriated papules were seen over the posterior thighs and the
lower gluteal area. These are the areas which come in contact with the toilet seat. No lesions were seen
elsewhere. Systemic examination was normal.
A diagnosis of toilet seat dermatitis was made and the child was treated with topical corticosteroids,
emollients and antihistamines. The mother was advised to avoid harsh cleansers, to clean the toilet
bowl and seat every day and to use toilet seat covers or newspapers to avoid direct contact of the toilet
seat with the skin. The lesions resolved completely in two weeks. Figure 1: Erythematous papules and
plaques seen over the lower buttocks and posterior thighs.
DISCUSSION:
Toilet seat dermatitis can be an allergic or irritant contact dermatitis. Previously when wooden toilet
seats were used, allergic contact dermatitis was seen to the varnishes, lacquers [2] or Sudan stain [5]
present in the wooden toilet seats. Polyurethane toilet seats have also been reported to cause allergic
contact toilet seat dermatitis due to reaction of isocyanates

Religion and State have historically battled over value of importance. For centuries, laws have been
set forth to further the separation between the two. While good intentions were utilized in the creation
of these statutes, it is challenging to shift the mindset of civilians who have worshiped religion above
the state their entire lives. In the play, Antigone, Sophocles dramatizes the division between divine law
and human law. Antigone personifies religion and the law of the gods, while Creon exemplifies human
law. Inevitably, the disputes between the two ultimately result in the characters tragic fates. Sophocles
uses a variety of literary techniques to strengthen the theme and central conflict of religion versus law.
In Ancient Greek times, religion was known to play a direct and personal role in the lives of citizens.
The concept of the body in Greek culture was celebrated to meet the demands of the gods, and the
Ancient Greeks considered the physical body as something to be tended to. Without a proper burial, it
was understood that the body of the deceased would be doomed to wander the Underworld in an
eternal state of unrest. The importance of family, as stressed through religion, is exemplified when
Antigone becomes distraught over the fact that King Creon has outlawed the proper burial of her older

Argumentative Essay On The 13th Amendment
By the time the sun barely peeks over the horizon, several others and I have been working the fields

the first to abolish slavery, or so people say. The thirteenth amendment reads, Neither slavery nor

Causes of Global Warming
Many businesses, industrial factories, and vehicles produce massive amounts of natural gases that
affect the world in many ways. These gas particles that move rapidly and constantly collide with the

particles from the natural gases are colliding with the air particles. The higher kinetic energy results in
higher temperature and heating of Earth s surface. The heating of the Earth s surface causes many of
the world problems that we have today. As more and more factories and industries produce gases that
pollute the world, they also increase the effects of global warming. Gas particles from these natural
gases move rapidly throughout the atmosphere. Since these gases are still near the surface of the
Earth, these gas particles collide much more and become more rapid creating more kinetic energy. If
there is more kinetic energy in these gas particles, there is an increase in temperature. Around the
world there are so many products and resources that require the release of gases. These gases, once
released, increase the temperature in the atmosphere to be able to melt the ice at the north and south
poles. The gas particles are able to spread out throughout the Earth s atmosphere to trap the heat which
increases the temperature of the Earth s surface allowing the ice to melt.
Hurricanes, storms, and droughts are caused by numerous factors. Droughts are caused by the

Sons And Lovers Character Analysis
Discuss Sons and Lovers as the tragedy of class system, social divisions and Industrialization. D.H
Lawrence s Sons and Lovers takes us back to the heart of industrialization the age where people were
more concerned with money, power and class etc. In the first chapter the use of THE BOTTOMS ,
Hell Row and Bestwood signifies different areas where people belonging to different ranks lived. We
come to know that Mrs. Morel is being forced to move into a new residence at The Bottoms and for
her this is a great loss. Bestwood might not have been a great place for her but at least it was a better
place than The Bottom which was now on the edge of its destruction. Mr. Morel and Mrs. Morel are
the perfect example of the tragedy that the class system brings. The first chapter gives us an insight
into Mrs. Morel s class we discover that Mrs. Morel came of a good old burgher family (Lawrence 33)
thus pointing out that Mrs. Morel s ideals and manners were completely different from those of Mr.
Morel. We also get to know that the thing which pleased Mr. Morel most about Mrs. Morel was When

Public Education In The Film Waiting For Superman
There is an evident issue with the public schooling system in America today. Throughout the entire
country, kids are the victims of schools that fail to gift them with the knowledge that they need to
excel past high school. In lower class areas of the country, students are destined to become dropouts
because their education simply does not provide them a way out. In the film, Waiting for Superman,
director Davis Guggenheim claims that schools are failing to meet beneficial education standards for
all students. Due to their demographic, children in lower class areas of the country do not have access
to the same educational opportunities that wealthier families receive. Throughout the film,
Guggenheim s use of music and pacing creates a powerful feeling of sympathy in the audience
towards the children that are not privileged to a better education because of their economic status. By
utilizing these devices, the film ultimately hopes to build on the audience s sympathy in order to
possibly ignite a change for the public education system in the United States. There are a variety of
ways in which music is used throughout this film, but the use of sad music and silence are the two
most important in terms of building a strong emotional appeal. By implementing these styles of music,
the film illustrates the emotional frustration within lower class students and parents who are simply
looking to find a beneficial education for their children. Melancholy music serves as an

Definition Of A Programming Language
THINK ABOUT A PROGRAMMING LANGUAGE that you have a great familiarity with: C++,

and you will realize there are certain conventions that you follow that actually help define the
language. The attributes that make up programming in a specific language are what programmers
utilize in their daily working environment, and they also set a standard of expectations of coding style.
Just like a programming language, there is still another significant type of writing that is used in the

constraint as to the amount you can deviate away from the generic organizational structure of the
article. Understanding these templates will help you examine these articles for desired information.
The general structure of a research article would be as follows.
The major text of the article begins with an abstract section where the goals of the experiment are
explained briefly. Rather than asking a research question like other fields, computer science articles
will present a statement about what the objective is behind their research experiment in this section.
The abstract is followed by an introductory section that will state what the general community thinks
about the topic as well as provide a brief breakdown on what the articles sections are and what is in
each section. The next topic(s) in the article are there to describe the experiment. Within this section
subtitles are frequently used in order to organize the information presented and help the reader focus
on a particular aspect of the experiment. This is also the section where images, diagrams, and code
snippets are used to provide visual context to see what is happening. This is another aspect specific to
the computer science field. Unlike any other discipline, a writing convention within computer

The Importance Of The Mapping Project For A Better Insight...
I received a call from an elderly shut in lady explaining that she had no access to transportation and

She wanted to know if we would be able to bring just a little food to tie her over until someone could

the assumption that larger areas of food insecurity are in the more densely populated areas, you can
see that in areas of Lumpkin County this not the case. In Union County it appears that food insecurity

Background/History of Radiation
Can be traced back to experiments made soon after the discovery of x rays (1895), when it was shown
that exposure to radiation produced cutaneous burns. The use of radiation continues today as a
treatment for cancer in radiation therapy. Henri Becquerel discovered after multiple experiments that it
was the material itself that gave off the rays. Later on Marie Curie named it radioactivity. She found
out the elements which are thorium, polonium, and radium. Radiation was really helpful during World
War 1. During that time, people found out that radiation materials that are high can be extremely
dangerous. People can die because of radiation, because of radiation exposure. That was proven with,
Radium Girls . In 1993, it provided a wealth of information on the long term effect of radiation
exposure. The case also provoked drastic changes in both the fields of workplace safety liability, and
the field of Health Physics, dealing with the health effects and safety issues involved in working with
radioactive materials. The Manhattan Project that had a bomb involved, led to the long term radiation
exposure.

Here, the users are provided with a totally free version of the entry level model of the software or a

In most freemium models, the product can be used for free only for a certain number of times or with

to Reduce the Fear of Public Speaking on Psychology Today s website. I learned that public speaking
is the number one fear in America, while the fear of death is second in line. This means that we re
more afraid of speaking in public than we are of dying. I also learned five tips on how to reduce public
speaking nervousness.
The first one was Don t Expect Perfection from Yourself. No one is perfect but when it comes time to
speak in public, some of us pick at every little flaw we think we make. We blow up our imperfections
yet ignore the good things. Honestly, though, even the greatest and most experience public speakers
can make a lot of mistakes. The difference is, when they do, they re able to gracefully recover and
keep going as if nothing happened. That s one of the keys to success: keep going gracefully. Most of
the time, the audience won t notice most of your mistakes unless you make them obvious by stopping
your speech, breaking down and admitting your mistakes. You just have to carry through with poise
and let yourself not be perfect.
The second tip was Avoid Equating Public Speaking to Your Self Worth. Basically, if you re a
successful professional who s worked hard for where they are in life right now, you

What makes asian growth so phenomenal Essay
Asian cities have been tended to grow more quickly than Western cities, so what makes their growth
so phenomenal? The accelerated rate may be attributed to population dynamics, economic markets and
or/socio political conditions, poor planning and disregarding environmental hazards like flood plains
have held them back. Many primate cities in Asia have grown to become megacities, and some more
are rapidly increasing in size to assume such a status by the end of the century. This is a remarkable
phenomenon fraught with various implications, favorable or unfavorable. In 1960 there were only two

But, even using standardized death rates, we can conclude that there has been a marked mortality
decline in Asian countries. Particularly remarkable is the decline in infant mortality. The former infant
mortality of 200 per 1,000 for India has now been reduced to half. In almost all countries it is far
below the 100 per 1,000 levels. Burma, however, with an infant mortality rate of slightly more than
100 per 1,000 is an exception. Also, while observing mortality rate, birth rate is considered in why
Asian population growth is phenomenal. The birth rate in boys is 9.17 births per 1,000 population and
for girls 8.39 births per 1,000 population giving it a total of 17.56 births per 1,000 population, being
much higher than the United States which is at 12.7 per 1,000 population.
Other Factors
Being that there are many other factors that could have been chosen as the reason Asian growth is so
phenomenal, I truly did not believe any of them really stood up to par as population did. The first that
I would like to examine is economic market. Although the economic market is doing extremely well I
do not believe it determines why Asia is growing so quickly. The three largest Asian countries, China,

Separate But Equal Equality
The conflict over segregation has been an issue since the Civil War. After the Civil War, equality was
slowed by many court cases and state laws. Separate but Equal was a term used to demonstrate that
white and black people were to be separated, but have the same facilities available. Unfortunately, this
was not always the case. The struggle to achieve equality was made more difficult by the legislation of
racism in the Plessy v. Ferguson case. Homer Plessy, a white man living in Louisiana, was the subject
of an important court case that set the stage for years of struggle over Separate but Equal. His great
grandmother was African American, therefore, even though he looked white, he was classified as
black. The Separate Car Act, enacted in 1890, stated that whites and blacks had to be separated in
different railroad cars. Plessy bought a ticket from Press Street Depot in New Orleans to travel to
Covington, Louisiana. Once he bought his ticket, he got into the whites only railroad car. A railroad
employee asked him to move to the blacks only cars, but Plessy refused. A private detective, working
at the railroad station, took Plessy off the train and arrested him. Plessy was charged twenty five
dollars for breaking the law, and was brought before Judge John H. Ferguson of the Criminal Court for
New Orleans, who upheld the state law. The law was challenged in the Supreme Court on the grounds
that it conflicted with the 13th and 14th Amendments (history.com). After the

How Headphones And The Acoustic Transducer Became The Most...
Summary
In the 21st century, sound transducers became the most important building block in all electronic
devices. This element is employed into many products such as microphones, cellphones, radios,
probes, etc. Headphones, for instance, are based on the loudspeaker system which works thanks to the
acoustic transducer. They may look mundane in our daily life, but each element inside the headphones
denotes significant innovations in human history. How do headphones work and what are the secrets
that lie inside?
The objective of this essay is to describe and clarify the main technology that headphones employ.
Therefore, it will be explored different elements that make headphones so much used today such as
history, function principles, manufacturing and future development.
The history behind the headphones
The statement of the first headphones inventor can be a fine debatable topic, which is not the goal of
this essay. Thus, the historical background will be reviewed only to obtain the engineering
improvement for the acoustic transducer, while the statement for the creator of first true headphones
will be left at the reader s belief. Some people may associate headphones origin to the engineering of
the first Walkman in 1979, while others instead, declare that Beyerdynamic should be taking the
credit. Most of archives and encyclopaedias, such as Wikipedia, say that the first working headphones
were created and sold to the US Navy by Nathaniel Baldwin, in 1910. (Figure 1

The Loss Of Desire In A Streetcar Named Desire, By...
Many people would say that Blanche is innocent and pure; however, through her lies and difficult
experiences, it is proven that the way Blanche portrays herself is pure act. The play A Streetcar Named
Desire by Tennessee Williams portrays Blanches dramatic shift in beliefs, which through her
encounters, figuratively and literally destroys her. Blanche, originally, grew up as an innocent and
honest young girl, but her hardships and tough journey from innocence to insanity encouraged this to
change her and cause her to become crazed. Blanches own actions are what lead her to her tragic
downfall by the end of the story, but many may consider Blanche a victim . From the beginning of the
play, Blanche considers herself to be innocent, but through many conflicts she begins to suffer and
regress mentally and physically. Experiences such as loss, desire, and violence all lead Blanche to
insanity, which ultimately annihilates her. Early on in the play, Blanche Dubois was a wealthy,
innocent and beautiful young woman. After experiencing the hardship of loss in particular, these traits
slowly but surely went away. The tragic loss of Blanches husband, Allan Grey, and her childhood
home in Belle Reve is what caused a turn of events in Blanches innocent life. Blanche Dubois has
never been able to relieve herself from the guilt she feels due to the loss of her husband. Blanche is
ultimately responsible for her husbands suicide, after her insensitive remarks about him

Egypt). They had farms on the outer part of the center city because their society was based on trading

How One Stupid Tweet Blew Up Justine Sacco s Life
During a time when young people do most of their communicating from behind a computer screen,
Jon Ronson wrote an article called, How One Stupid Tweet Blew Up Justine Sacco s Life. It is a report
consisting of five different stories about people who were publicly humiliated because of their
distasteful social media posts. Instead of focusing on the mistakes of the tweeters, Ronson discusses
the fairness of their punishment. In order to catch and keep the attention of his young audience,
Ronson uses rhetorical devices that will make readers feel emotions like shock and sympathy. Ronson
begins the article with the story of Justine Sacco. He opens with an enumeration, a rhetorical device
that makes a point with a lot of detail. As she made the long journey from New York to South Africa,
to visit family during the holidays in 2013, Justine Sacco, 30 years old, and the senior director of
corporate communication at IAC, began tweeting acerbic little jokes about the indignities of travel
(How One Stupid... 1). This gives the audience all of the information about Justine Sacco that they
need, and also makes them want to continue reading to find out what the tweets said. He follows this
opening with quotations of Justine s actual tweets. Ronson knew that if he wanted to change the way
people used social media he had to get the attention of the generation that uses it the most. He does
this by not overwhelming the audience with facts. Instead he gives them the information

Abstract
Both in terms of number of participating users and in tra±c volume, KaZaA is one of the most
important applications in the Internet today. Nevertheless, because
KaZaA is proprietary and uses encryption, little is understood about KaZaA s

This paper should not only be of interest to P2P designers, but also to engineers at upper and lower tier
ISPs, who are interested in acquiring a thorough understanding of
P2P overlays and tra±c. Because P2P ¯le sharing systems can generate vast quantities of tra±c,
networking engineers, who dimension the network and introduce content distribution devices such as
caches, need a basic understanding of how major P2P ¯le sharing systems operate. Although there has
been recent work in analyzing the ¯le sharing workload in KaZaA [8] and [18], to our knowledge we
are the ¯rst to undertake a comprehensive study of a hierarchical unstructured overlay for a P2P
system.
The paper focuses on the KaZaA overlay network and index management. It ad dresses neither KaZaA
s downloading protocol (for example, KaZaA s parallel down loading and request queuing) nor its
incentive scheme for encouraging uploading. The paper is complementary to [8] and [18], which focus
on KaZaA ¯le sharing tra±c. It is also complementary to a recent measurement study on pollution in
P2P ¯le sharing systems [19].
This paper is organized as follows. Section 2 provides an overview of KaZaA.
Section 3 describes are measurement apparatus. Section 4 presents our measurement results. Section 5
sets forth basic design principles for unstructured P2P ¯le sharing applications. Section 6 surveys
related work. Finally, Section 7 summarizes our ¯ndings and concludes.

The History of Jazz Music Essay
The History of Jazz Music
If you truly want to appreciate the music you listen to, I would recommend that you
study about it s Roots. It was a life changing experience for me to study about the music
of the United States. I studied about Jazz, Blues, Ragtime, Spirituals and Gospel. It was
Rather astonishing to see how this music is inter related.
It is said that American music is Jazz. My studies revealed to me that Jazz is an
African American creation which started in the south of the United States. The name
Jazz was given in 1917 and it is said that this name originated from different sources
including a whorehouse in New Orleans. Jazz has its roots in several types of music
including ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Jazz Rock came out about the late 1960 s, it is a style of Jazz that combined
Improvisation and rock rhythms and tone colors. Jazz Rock group include
Acoustic instruments along with synthesizers and electric piano, guitar, and bass. The
Percussion section includes instruments from Africa, Latin America or India. A major
figure in the development of Jazz Rock was the trumpeter Miles Davis.
Jazz features syncopation and improvisation. Improvisation is considered the key to
Jazz. Jazz is written but it cannot be read and played, you must feel it. It must be
internalized, it cannot be structured. Jazz has lots of flexibility in rhythm and pitch. It
has a complex and sophisticated harmony. Blues is an important source of Jazz. Blues
grew out of African American folk music, like spirituals and field hollers of slaves.
Blues became music art in 1890. It has no standard form. It is music that tell about
life. It was developed as a way of coping with being black and poor. There are three
forms of Blues. Rural Blues which is basic blues in words and instrumentation. Classic
Blues, where women were the main singers but had a group of males to accompany.
Bessie Smith was considered the Emperor of Blues. Urban Blues came about after WWII;
it grew up in Chicago and used amplified music. Aaron T Bone Walker invented this
Blues in 1940. Riley Boyd B. B. King made

High Fructose Ry Sweeteners
Sugar it is that deliciously sweet white substance that we just can t seem to resist. It is a guilty
pleasure that is known by almost everyone to be unhealthy, but is sugar actually a chronic toxin? Is it
slowly killing us from the inside out? In recent years, more and more research seems to suggest so.
With the increasing epidemic of obesity and diabetes, scientists are looking for answers, and their
findings are quite disturbing. If sugar is a toxin, then people need to know because health and lives are
at stake and the sugar industry could fall apart. To answer the question about the toxicity of sugar, one
must be clear about what type of sugar is being discussed because there are many different types. This
essay will discuss high fructose ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
According to L. Bell, studies show that the sugar fructose in high fructose corn syrup messes up the
appetite controls, causing a person to not realize that they are full even though they ate the energy
dense fructose (L. Bell, 2013). This overeating can lead to weight gain, which can in turn lead to other
serious health problems. According to a study published in the International Journal of Obesity (2013)
High SSB [fructose rich sugar sweetened beverages] consumption has a notable effect on increased
levels of BMI [body mass index] and SUA [serum uric acid] (W.T. Lin, H.L. Huang, M.C. Huang, T.F.
Chan, S.Y. Ciou, C.Y. Lee, Y.W. Ciou, T.H. Duh, P.L. Lin, T.N. Wang, T.Y. Liu, and C.H. Lee, 2013, p.
532). In other words, the consumption of beverages sweetened with high fructose corn syrup
significantly increases levels of body mass index and the production of uric acid. Uric acid is harmful
because it can lead to kidney disease and gout, the painful inflammation of the joints because of all of
the extra uric acid circulating in the blood. Another concern about fructose is how it effects the liver.
Every cell in the body can use glucose to make energy, but only the liver can break down fructose.
When fructose is eaten, it must pass through the liver to be broken down. According to R. Lustig, once
it gets to the mitochondria, the power plant of the cell,

Summary Of Ain T No Makin It By Jay Macleod
The achievement ideology is the belief encompassed by many people in the United States that suggest
if you work hard, you will climb the ladder of social and economic success. In the novel Ain t No
Makin It, Jay MacLeod discusses some contrasting views of this ideology between two groups of
lower class Americans living in the same public housing project. One group, the Brothers, are mostly
African American, while the other group, the Hallway Hangers, are mostly Caucasian. The Brothers
grow up in homes with parents who strictly enforce the power of education and have slightly stable
jobs, while the Hallway Hangers grow up in homes where their parents are often not present and do
not value the power of education. These beliefs translate through ... Show more content on

Ultimately, the two groups end up with jobs that are not too different from one another, exemplifying
the faults in the achievement ideology. Throughout their whole lives, the Brothers consistently feel
that their limited success is a reflection of their own shortcomings and has nothing to do with the
flawed class or racial systems. They recognize the systems put in place to help lower class people of
color excel, including free public education and affirmative action, but do not realize that this is not
enough to overcome their limited cultural capital and unstable economic foundations. This also
contributes to the Brothers intersectionality, or their analysis of how factors such as race, gender, and
class interact to shape their life chances. The intersectionality of the Hallway Hangers, on the other
hand, is restricted to the core idea that no matter what they do, they can ever escape the social binds of
the lower class. This intersectionality also falls into place with the idea of habitus, studied by Pierre
Bourdieu. Habitus describes how one sees themselves and where they fit in life. The Hallway Hangers
permanently see themselves in the lower class, while the Brothers aim for higher aspirations. While
the Brothers exhibit a higher quality of life and ultimately have less regrets and legal repercussions,
they end with careers that are not much

  • 3. Foundational Biblical Worldview Paul is writing the book of Romans as an occasional letter to the believers in Rome, whom he has never personally met, but desires to connect with very soon. It appears to be a pastoral letter written in an apocalyptic style, because he is dealing with a church that needs direction. He is writing boldly to them to encourage unity as God s people. Romans 15:15 attests to the strength of his message when he states, I have written very boldly to you on some points . Paul is in essence building a framework of beliefs for believers to view the world around them (Caner Hindson. 2008. Pg.498). Romans though not a systematic theological message, chapters 1 8 are strong truths for a foundational biblical worldview. The natural world and all ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This movement didn t happen overnight, but it is a production of the human nature. The human or sinful worldview demands for its own rights, its own way, its own desires to be fulfilled. Continuing to build a foundational message with boldness, Paul explains that the reason God sent the law was to bring our sin to our attention so we would realize how desperately we need His grace. He points out that sin had already conquered the human race long before the Law arrived, which is indisputably proved by the fact that sin had already produced death in every human (Romans 5:21 New Living Testament). Sin and self separate us from God, grace brings us near. Romans 6. Since we have united with him in his death, we will also raise to life as he was. Verse 12 Paul remind believers that our life in Christ gives us power over so, Do not let sin control the way you live do not give in to sinful desires. A lesson that I have learned the hard way is that people will let you down, but God never will. Another important aspect for a foundation of a biblical worldview is in human relationships. From the beginning God intended for man to interact and be fruitful with one another in harmonious relationships (Genesis 2:18, New Living Testament). But when man fell into sin, it brought about every manner of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Qualification of Daphne Du Maurier s Rebecca as a Gothic Novel One of mankind s most valuable gifts is the ability to feel emotions and be able to react to them in a variety of ways. One of these emotions can be recognized as horror. Horror can be directly related as an immense sensation of fear, anxiety, and despair. Horror is adored by some and abhorred by others. Most importantly, there exist many sources for frightening media and information. One genre of literature that tends to provide horror can be known as Gothic Literature. Rebecca by Daphne Du Maurier most definitely qualifies as a Gothic novel due to its precise portrayal of multiple elements of Gothic Literature such as eerie settings, presence of distressed characters, and unfortunate events combined with bad weather. Before examining Rebecca s validity as an accurate representation of Gothic literature, it is imperative for one to understand the definition and origin of this genre. Gothic literature is a style of writing which involves, ... mystery and supernatural horror, often set in a dark castle or other medieval setting (Dictionary). • 6. A Small Place Part 3 Rhetorical Analysis A Small Place Part 3 Rhetorical Analysis A Small Place, a novel written by Jamaica Kincaid, is a story relating to the small country of Antigua and its dilemmas from Jamaica Kincaid s point of view. In this novel Kincaid is trying to inform her audience that Antigua is in a poor state due to British imperial, government corruption, and tourism. Kincaid exposes her audience to the effect of these very problems in Antigua by using persuasive visual language. In the third part of Jamaica Kincaid s A Small Place, Kincaid does an exceptional job in arguing that, her country Antigua has corrupt government officials due to British influence by appealing effectively to pathos, logos, and ethos. Antigua is a beautiful island in the Caribbean that got its name from Christopher Columbus in 1493 when he first visited the small 108 square mile island (Niddrie). Antigua was later colonized by England in 1632, and won its independence in 1981 (Niddrie). Antigua was originally a country that was planned as a slave breeding colony, but never became one; the slaves who were imported came to live self reliantly in their own community (Niddrie). After, Antigua gained its independence; it established a constitutional monarchy, where the British monarch is still head of state, represented by a governor general (Niddrie). Sadly, Antigua is an impoverished country that has a history of being a victim of British imperialism, government corruption, and tourism (Kincaid). Kincaid informs her audience ... The case at hand poses a dilemma regarding the right to know (Cherry Jacob 2008). There are a number of key elements that help to provide a framework that enhances truthful communication. Firstly, there is the need to develop open and honest communication from the very beginning of the patient health professional relationship. Secondly, the health professional needs to use patient penchant as a weigh by asking them what they wish to know, how much they wish to know, and determining what they already know. In other words, it is a responsibility of the health professional to get a feel for the situation, including the patients perception of the situation (Ashcroft, Dawson Drape 2007). • 8. Critical Analysis Of Sonnet 130 Sonnet 130 by William Shakespeare is undoubtedly one of the most influential pieces of poetry in the history of humankind. It is a standard 14 line Shakespearian sonnet that describes the beauty of a woman in comparison the beauties of the world the speaker admires the most. Unlike Petrarch whose sonnets about the beauty of Beatrice were all aimed at picturing the godlike appearance and the personal traits of his beloved woman, sonnet 130 by Shakespeare goes in the opposite direction. This particular sonnet is unusual and, in a certain regard, revolutionary for the late renaissance poetry as it steps back from the image of the woman as a goddess, a heavenly angel who delights the world with her presence. Sonnet 130 describes a woman as she really is, a woman with flaws, a woman who is not the most beautiful one in existence, a woman who might not be compared to the most admirable wonders of the world yet a woman whom the speaker loves dearly and considers the most important woman in his life. Shakespeare starts the sonnet with comparing the physical traits of his mistress to the beauties of the world. The comparison, as it was said above, is not usual for the poetry of the time. Precisely, the comparison does not relate to the features of the described woman: My mistress eyes are nothing like the sun; Coral is far more red than her lips red; If snow be white, why then her breasts are dun; If hairs be wires, black wires grow on her head (Shakespeare). The author admits that there are wonders in the world that are far more superior to the beauty of his mistress. He admits it fairly and without hesitations. The author knows what his beloved woman really is, he is realistic about her and, at this point, this feature of the sonnet makes it the most outstanding example of the late renaissance literature. The author seems to abandon the overexaggerated beauty standards of the time, he leaves behind the cliches of his era and allows himself to be as realistic as no one dared to be before. He does speak of an angel who came to our world as a gift from the Kingdom of Heaven, he speaks of an earthly woman whose beauty is not as evident as the beauty of Beatrice from Petrarchan sonnets. The beauty of the speaker s ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In the Mockingjay propaganda is used to keep the districts in line and in favor of the Capital. Although this is a fictional story, the reality of propaganda rings true. The Capital and the rebellion have different ways of communicating their propaganda. The Capital wishes to achieve the way things used to be where the districts supplied and feared the Capital. • 11. The Election Between Lyndon B. Johnson And Barry Goldwater... The 1964 American election between Lyndon B. Johnson and Barry Goldwater has strong similarities with the 2016 election between Hillary Clinton and Donald J. Trump. In both cases, the democrat candidates focused more on their counterpart s rhetoric rather than uphold their own ideas in an attempt to persuade voters to support them. This essay will argue that the Democrat candidates of the 1964 and 2016 elections, in many instances, instead of focusing on their political proposals, focused on anti intellectualism by emphasizing their opponent s extremist right winger rhetoric. This comparison shows the enduring trends of right wing extremism, racial conflicts, and republican divisiveness. To prove this argument, this text will analyze Democrat campaign advertisements in both campaigns, Nelson A Rockefeller speech at the 1964 National Republican convention and Jeb Bush interview to NBC. In order to compare these two influential elections, one must first have a firm grasp of the historiography of both elections. The 1964 election was the 45th quadrennial presidential election. It had a lot of controversy around it due to the Republican nomination of politician and businessman Barry M. Goldwater for the president run. He outweighed prominent Republican candidates, for instance, Nelson A. Rockefeller. Goldwater did not have the support of his own party to run the election and underwent heavy criticism due to his unpopular conservative political position. He faced the Democrat ... There were three main objectives for this operation: convincing the Germans that Pas de Calais was the main invasion target, keeping secret the date and time of the invasion of the Normandy beaches, and keeping German reinforcements from heading to the Normandy beaches. The planning for this operation started with First Thoughts, a paper created on July 14th, 1943 which had many of the ideas represented in Operation Bodyguard. At first, the Allied high command was dubious of using deception as it did not work well in Operation Cockade. This was an operation done to confuse German high command and draw them into air battles. However, the Germans barely responded to the fake invasion force and the operation was a failure. Yet, even with this mistrust of deception and use of subterfuge, Operation Bodyguard was approved on December 25th, 1943. The largest operation in Operation Bodyguard was Operation Fortitude, which could also be argued that it had the largest impact on D Day. The objective of this was operation was to convince the German high command that the Allies had a very large force in Britain and in Edinburgh which were going to be used to invade both Norway and Pas de Calais. In fixed exchange rate, the country s central bank or other concerns will maintain exchange rate by buying and selling its own currency on foreign exchange. • 19. Divine Law Vs. Human Law English A, Literature ― HL Written Assignment Divine Law vs. Human Law West Islip High School Léna Seltzer 003996 0069 May 2017 1472 Words Religion and State have historically battled over value of importance. For centuries, laws have been set forth to further the separation between the two. While good intentions were utilized in the creation of these statutes, it is challenging to shift the mindset of civilians who have worshiped religion above the state their entire lives. In the play, Antigone, Sophocles dramatizes the division between divine law and human law. Antigone personifies religion and the law of the gods, while Creon exemplifies human law. Inevitably, the disputes between the two ultimately result in the characters tragic fates. Sophocles uses a variety of literary techniques to strengthen the theme and central conflict of religion versus law. In Ancient Greek times, religion was known to play a direct and personal role in the lives of citizens. The concept of the body in Greek culture was celebrated to meet the demands of the gods, and the Ancient Greeks considered the physical body as something to be tended to. Without a proper burial, it was understood that the body of the deceased would be doomed to wander the Underworld in an eternal state of unrest. The importance of family, as stressed through religion, is exemplified when Antigone becomes distraught over the fact that King Creon has outlawed the proper burial of her older brother, ... • 20. Argumentative Essay On The 13th Amendment By the time the sun barely peeks over the horizon, several others and I have been working the fields for hours. We pick cotton until our fingers bleed. If my first strip isn t done before noon, the whip will come slashing. If I complete my strip and take a break before moving on to the next section, the whip will come slashing. If my legs give out and can no longer support my weight, the whip will come slashing. When I was informed about the new amendment to the constitution tears welled up in my eyes as I took a step towards freedom, or what I thought was freedom. The thirteenth amendment brought forth the idea that slavery would be abolished. However, the congressmen left a loophole in the amendment, allowing slavery to continue, but under another name. The thirteenth amendment was the first to abolish slavery, or so people say. The thirteenth amendment reads, Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude except as punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted shall exist within the United States, or any place subject to their jurisdiction, the constitution. This amendment could easily fool people into believing that all was right within the world. However, soon after this amendment was added to the constitution unjust laws started to pop up within the states, When slavery was legally abolished. A new set of laws called Black Codes emerged to criminalize legal activity for African Americans. Through the enforcement of these laws, acts such as ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Being a movie that was transitioning from a black film to color it really emphasized every single color imaginable. All the colors remind of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory or Candyland. I like how Emerald city stayed true to one color to make it unique which was green. It really conveyed to the audience why it was called Emerald City just of its color scheme alone. I felt bad for the tin man because all that makeup must of been hard to wear? I loved the color scheme that the wicked Witch of the West had. • 22. Causes of Global Warming Many businesses, industrial factories, and vehicles produce massive amounts of natural gases that affect the world in many ways. These gas particles that move rapidly and constantly collide with the atmosphere. This causes the air on Earth to contain higher kinetic energy due to the fact that more gas particles from the natural gases are colliding with the air particles. The higher kinetic energy results in higher temperature and heating of Earth s surface. The heating of the Earth s surface causes many of the world problems that we have today. As more and more factories and industries produce gases that pollute the world, they also increase the effects of global warming. Gas particles from these natural gases move rapidly throughout the atmosphere. Since these gases are still near the surface of the Earth, these gas particles collide much more and become more rapid creating more kinetic energy. If there is more kinetic energy in these gas particles, there is an increase in temperature. Around the world there are so many products and resources that require the release of gases. These gases, once released, increase the temperature in the atmosphere to be able to melt the ice at the north and south poles. The gas particles are able to spread out throughout the Earth s atmosphere to trap the heat which increases the temperature of the Earth s surface allowing the ice to melt. Hurricanes, storms, and droughts are caused by numerous factors. Droughts are caused by the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 24. Public Education In The Film Waiting For Superman There is an evident issue with the public schooling system in America today. Throughout the entire country, kids are the victims of schools that fail to gift them with the knowledge that they need to excel past high school. In lower class areas of the country, students are destined to become dropouts because their education simply does not provide them a way out. In the film, Waiting for Superman, director Davis Guggenheim claims that schools are failing to meet beneficial education standards for all students. Due to their demographic, children in lower class areas of the country do not have access to the same educational opportunities that wealthier families receive. Throughout the film, Guggenheim s use of music and pacing creates a powerful feeling of sympathy in the audience towards the children that are not privileged to a better education because of their economic status. By utilizing these devices, the film ultimately hopes to build on the audience s sympathy in order to possibly ignite a change for the public education system in the United States. There are a variety of ways in which music is used throughout this film, but the use of sad music and silence are the two most important in terms of building a strong emotional appeal. By implementing these styles of music, the film illustrates the emotional frustration within lower class students and parents who are simply looking to find a beneficial education for their children. Separate but Equal was a term used to demonstrate that white and black people were to be separated, but have the same facilities available. Unfortunately, this was not always the case. The struggle to achieve equality was made more difficult by the legislation of racism in the Plessy v. Ferguson case. Homer Plessy, a white man living in Louisiana, was the subject of an important court case that set the stage for years of struggle over Separate but Equal. His great grandmother was African American, therefore, even though he looked white, he was classified as black. The Separate Car Act, enacted in 1890, stated that whites and blacks had to be separated in different railroad cars. Plessy bought a ticket from Press Street Depot in New Orleans to travel to Covington, Louisiana. Once he bought his ticket, he got into the whites only railroad car. A railroad employee asked him to move to the blacks only cars, but Plessy refused. A private detective, working at the railroad station, took Plessy off the train and arrested him. This element is employed into many products such as microphones, cellphones, radios, probes, etc. Headphones, for instance, are based on the loudspeaker system which works thanks to the acoustic transducer. They may look mundane in our daily life, but each element inside the headphones denotes significant innovations in human history. How do headphones work and what are the secrets that lie inside? The objective of this essay is to describe and clarify the main technology that headphones employ. Therefore, it will be explored different elements that make headphones so much used today such as history, function principles, manufacturing and future development. The history behind the headphones The statement of the first headphones inventor can be a fine debatable topic, which is not the goal of this essay. Thus, the historical background will be reviewed only to obtain the engineering improvement for the acoustic transducer, while the statement for the creator of first true headphones will be left at the reader s belief. Some people may associate headphones origin to the engineering of the first Walkman in 1979, while others instead, declare that Beyerdynamic should be taking the credit. Most of archives and encyclopaedias, such as Wikipedia, say that the first working headphones were created and sold to the US Navy by Nathaniel Baldwin, in 1910. (Figure 1 ... • 41. The Loss Of Desire In A Streetcar Named Desire, By... Many people would say that Blanche is innocent and pure; however, through her lies and difficult experiences, it is proven that the way Blanche portrays herself is pure act. The play A Streetcar Named Desire by Tennessee Williams portrays Blanches dramatic shift in beliefs, which through her encounters, figuratively and literally destroys her. Blanche, originally, grew up as an innocent and honest young girl, but her hardships and tough journey from innocence to insanity encouraged this to change her and cause her to become crazed. Blanches own actions are what lead her to her tragic downfall by the end of the story, but many may consider Blanche a victim . From the beginning of the play, Blanche considers herself to be innocent, but through many conflicts she begins to suffer and regress mentally and physically. Experiences such as loss, desire, and violence all lead Blanche to insanity, which ultimately annihilates her. Early on in the play, Blanche Dubois was a wealthy, innocent and beautiful young woman. After experiencing the hardship of loss in particular, these traits slowly but surely went away. The tragic loss of Blanches husband, Allan Grey, and her childhood home in Belle Reve is what caused a turn of events in Blanches innocent life. Blanche Dubois has never been able to relieve herself from the guilt she feels due to the loss of her husband. Blanche is ultimately responsible for her husbands suicide, after her insensitive remarks about him ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 43. How One Stupid Tweet Blew Up Justine Sacco s Life During a time when young people do most of their communicating from behind a computer screen, Jon Ronson wrote an article called, How One Stupid Tweet Blew Up Justine Sacco s Life. It is a report consisting of five different stories about people who were publicly humiliated because of their distasteful social media posts. Instead of focusing on the mistakes of the tweeters, Ronson discusses the fairness of their punishment. In order to catch and keep the attention of his young audience, Ronson uses rhetorical devices that will make readers feel emotions like shock and sympathy. Ronson begins the article with the story of Justine Sacco. He opens with an enumeration, a rhetorical device that makes a point with a lot of detail. As she made the long journey from New York to South Africa, to visit family during the holidays in 2013, Justine Sacco, 30 years old, and the senior director of corporate communication at IAC, began tweeting acerbic little jokes about the indignities of travel (How One Stupid... 1). This gives the audience all of the information about Justine Sacco that they need, and also makes them want to continue reading to find out what the tweets said. He follows this opening with quotations of Justine s actual tweets. Ronson knew that if he wanted to change the way people used social media he had to get the attention of the generation that uses it the most. He does this by not overwhelming the audience with facts. Instead he gives them the information ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This paper should not only be of interest to P2P designers, but also to engineers at upper and lower tier ISPs, who are interested in acquiring a thorough understanding of P2P overlays and tra±c. Because P2P ¯le sharing systems can generate vast quantities of tra±c, networking engineers, who dimension the network and introduce content distribution devices such as caches, need a basic understanding of how major P2P ¯le sharing systems operate. Although there has been recent work in analyzing the ¯le sharing workload in KaZaA [8] and [18], to our knowledge we are the ¯rst to undertake a comprehensive study of a hierarchical unstructured overlay for a P2P system. The paper focuses on the KaZaA overlay network and index management. It ad dresses neither KaZaA s downloading protocol (for example, KaZaA s parallel down loading and request queuing) nor its incentive scheme for encouraging uploading. The paper is complementary to [8] and [18], which focus on KaZaA ¯le sharing tra±c. It is also complementary to a recent measurement study on pollution in P2P ¯le sharing systems [19]. This paper is organized as follows. Section 2 provides an overview of KaZaA.

It is a guilty pleasure that is known by almost everyone to be unhealthy, but is sugar actually a chronic toxin? Is it slowly killing us from the inside out? In recent years, more and more research seems to suggest so. With the increasing epidemic of obesity and diabetes, scientists are looking for answers, and their findings are quite disturbing. If sugar is a toxin, then people need to know because health and lives are at stake and the sugar industry could fall apart. To answer the question about the toxicity of sugar, one must be clear about what type of sugar is being discussed because there are many different types. This essay will discuss high fructose ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... According to L. Bell, studies show that the sugar fructose in high fructose corn syrup messes up the appetite controls, causing a person to not realize that they are full even though they ate the energy dense fructose (L. Bell, 2013). This overeating can lead to weight gain, which can in turn lead to other serious health problems. According to a study published in the International Journal of Obesity (2013) High SSB [fructose rich sugar sweetened beverages] consumption has a notable effect on increased levels of BMI [body mass index] and SUA [serum uric acid] (W.T. Lin, H.L. Huang, M.C. Huang, T.F. Chan, S.Y. Ciou, C.Y. Lee, Y.W. Ciou, T.H. Duh, P.L. Lin, T.N. Wang, T.Y. Liu, and C.H. Lee, 2013, p. 532). In other words, the consumption of beverages sweetened with high fructose corn syrup significantly increases levels of body mass index and the production of uric acid. Uric acid is harmful because it can lead to kidney disease and gout, the painful inflammation of the joints because of all of the extra uric acid circulating in the blood. Another concern about fructose is how it effects the liver. Every cell in the body can use glucose to make energy, but only the liver can break down fructose. When fructose is eaten, it must pass through the liver to be broken down. According to R. Lustig, once it gets to the mitochondria, the power plant of the cell, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Summary Of Ain T No Makin It By Jay Macleod The achievement ideology is the belief encompassed by many people in the United States that suggest if you work hard, you will climb the ladder of social and economic success. In the novel Ain t No Makin It, Jay MacLeod discusses some contrasting views of this ideology between two groups of lower class Americans living in the same public housing project. One group, the Brothers, are mostly African American, while the other group, the Hallway Hangers, are mostly Caucasian. The Brothers grow up in homes with parents who strictly enforce the power of education and have slightly stable jobs, while the Hallway Hangers grow up in homes where their parents are often not present and do not value the power of education. These beliefs translate through ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Ultimately, the two groups end up with jobs that are not too different from one another, exemplifying the faults in the achievement ideology. Throughout their whole lives, the Brothers consistently feel that their limited success is a reflection of their own shortcomings and has nothing to do with the flawed class or racial systems. They recognize the systems put in place to help lower class people of color excel, including free public education and affirmative action, but do not realize that this is not enough to overcome their limited cultural capital and unstable economic foundations. This also contributes to the Brothers intersectionality, or their analysis of how factors such as race, gender, and class interact to shape their life chances. The intersectionality of the Hallway Hangers, on the other hand, is restricted to the core idea that no matter what they do, they can ever escape the social binds of the lower class. This intersectionality also falls into place with the idea of habitus, studied by Pierre Bourdieu. Habitus describes how one sees themselves and where they fit in life. The Hallway Hangers permanently see themselves in the lower class, while the Brothers aim for higher aspirations. While the Brothers exhibit a higher quality of life and ultimately have less regrets and legal repercussions, they end with careers that are not much ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This assignment aims to reflect upon practice experiences and relate them to one of the six core fundamental values. For the purpose of this assignment, the core fundamental value chosen shall be Competence. In relation to the adult field of nursing, this is one of the most important values when caring for a patient effectively (Scott Tilley, 2008.). In order to do this, Driscoll s model of reflection (Driscoll, 2011) shall be used to assess the use of this competency within practice. This model was chosen because of its best fit to Ghaye Lillyman (2010) explained reflection to be a development of our practice through trial and error.
