What do you really know about that antibody? Ask dkNET Research resources-defined here as the tools researchers use in their scientific studies-are a foundation of the biomedical enterprise. It is critical for researchers to be able to select the proper tools for their research, but also be aware of any issues that may arise in their application. Software tools and datasets may have bugs, cell lines get contaminated, knock outs may be incomplete and antibodies may have specificity problems. Such problematic resources can continue to be used in scientific studies, even after problems are detected. Many factors, including the inability to easily retrieve alerts about problematic resources, results in their continued use, wasting both time and money. To make it easy to find information about research resources and how they perform, dkNET (NIDDK Information Network, https://dknet.org), an on-line portal supported by the US National Institute of Diabetes, Digestive and Kidney diseases (NIDDK), has developed a resource information network that utilize Research Resource Identifiers (RRIDs) and natural language processes to aggregate information about individual antibodies, cell lines, organisms, digital tools, plasmids and biosamples. This information is presented in a Resource Report that provides information such as which papers have been published using these resources, who is using them and whether issues have been reported. Using this information, dkNET also provides tools to create authentication reports in support of the NIH rigor and reproducibility guidelines. The dkNET portal includes additional information to enable researchers to easily use and navigate large amounts of data and information about research resources in support of reproducible science. By the end of this webinar, participants will be familiar with the services and tools provided at dkNET and will be able to create a detailed research resource report and produce an authentication report in support of NIH mandates and policies. In questo cantiere abbiamo curato la progettazione interna e fornito i mobili. La committenza era orientata su uno sile contemporaneo, che risultasse comunque molto accogliente. Era alla ricerca di qualcosa di accattivamente che non risultasse nè aggressivo, nè pesante, qualcosa di originale. Abbiamo quindi scelto degli arredi con una linea molto sobria, arricchita da cristalli Swarovsky che ne valorizzano il disegno. Inoltre abbiamo cercato di ottimizzare gli spazi, in particolare del soggiorno/sala pranzo, senza opere murarie ma solo con piccoli accorgimenti e l'uso degli arredi. I mobili forniti sono Miton (cucina), Max Divani, Kico (soggiorno), Tonin Casa (tavoli e sedie), Novelo (arredo bagno), Colombini e Mercantini (camera da letto).

Researchers require infrastructures that ensure a maximum of accessibility, stability and reliability to facilitate working with and sharing of research data. Such infrastructures are being increasingly summarised under the term Research Data Repositories (RDR). The project re3data.org – Registry of Research Data Repositories – began to index research data repositories in 2012 and offers researchers, funding organisations, libraries and publishers an overview of the heterogeneous research data repository landscape. In December 2014 re3data.org listed more than 1,030 research data repositories, which are described in detail using the re3data.org schema (http://dx.doi.org/10.2312/re3.003). Information icons help researchers to identify easily an adequate repository for the storage and reuse of their data. This talk describes the heterogeneous RDR landscape and presents a typology of institutional, disciplinary, multidisciplinary and project-specific RDR. Further, it outlines the features of re3data. org and it shows current developments for integration into data management planning tools and other services. By the end of 2015 re3data.org and Databib (Purdue University, USA) will merge their services, which will then be managed under the auspices of DataCite. The aim of this merger is to reduce duplication of effort and to serve the research community better with a single, sustainable registry of research data repositories. The talk will present this organisational development as a best practice example for the development of international research information services.
