The Positive Behavior Intervention System (PBIS) focuses on preventing misbehavior through establishing clear behavioral expectations and teaching good choices rather than punishing misbehavior. It uses a multi-tiered approach including school-wide systems for all students, smaller group systems for at-risk students, and individualized supports for high-risk students. The goal is to reduce suspensions and expulsions by addressing the root causes of misbehavior.
