2. There are eight parts of speech in English
language; noun, pronoun ,verb ,adjective ,
adverb , preposition, Conjunction , and
interjection. The part of speech indicates how
the word functions in meaning as well as
grammatically within the Sentence.
4. NOUN
This part of speech refers to words that
Are use to name persons ,things ,animals ,places,
Ideas ,or events. Nouns are the simplest among the
8 part of speech .
5. PRONOUN
A pronoun is used in place of a noun or noun
phrase to avoid Repetition.
EXAMPLES:
I, you , them ,we ,they ,she , he , it , me , us ,him , her ,
this , those
6. ADJECTIVE
An adjective describes , modifies or gives more information
About a noun or pronoun.
EXAMPLES:
big , happy , green , young , fun , crazy ,three
7. VERB
A verb shows an action or state of being.
A verb shows what someone or something
Doing.
EXAMPLES
go ,speak ,run ,eat ,play ,walk ,like ,are , is ,
8. ADVERB
An adverb describes or modifies a verb, an
Adjective or another adverb. It tells how, where,
when, how often or to what extent. Many adverbs
end in-LY.
EXAMPLES:
Slowly, quietly, very, always , never, too, well,
tomorrow , here
9. PREPOSITION
A preposition shows the relationship of a noun or
pronoun to another word. They Can indicate time,
place, or relationship.
EXAMPLES:
at, on ,in ,from ,with ,near, between ,
about ,under
10. CONJUNCTION
A conjunction joins two words, ideas, phrases
or clauses together in a sentence and shows
how they are connected
Examples:
and, or, but , because , so ,yet ,unless,
since ,if
11. INTERJECTION
An interjection is a word or phrase
that expresses a strong feeling or
Emotion. It is a short exclamation.
EXAMPLES:
Ouch! Wow! Great ! Help! Oh! Hey!
I don’t care! I am shocked!
12. THE PARTS OF SPEECH POEM
Every name is called a noun,
As field and fountain ,street and town.
In place of noun the pronoun stands,
As he and she can clap their hands.
The adjective describes a thing,
As magic wand or bridal ring.
The verb means action, something done
As read and write and jump and run.
How things are done the adverbs tell,
As quickly,slowly,badly,well.
The preposition shows relation,
As in the street or at the station.
Conjunction join, in many ways,
Sentences,words,or phrase and phrase.
The interjection cries out “hark!
I need an exclamation mark!”
