• Buildings are usually created for a specific purpose,
which influences its design.
• Knowing Building Types gives us a head start when
designing.
•Buildings serve several needs of society – primarily as
shelter from weather, security, living space, privacy, to
store belongings, and to comfortably live and work.

• Definition:
A building is 'a structure that has a roof and walls and
stands more or less permanently in one place'.
• Building types is nothing but a different types of
building structure and design.

Agricultural buildings
• They are the structures designed for farmers and for
agricultural practices, for growing and harvesting

Commercial buildings
• They are the buildings, which are used exclusively for
commercial use or used by public
• Every building of 3 apartments and up is considered as
commercial property as well.

Educational building
• A building in which education, training and care are

Industrial buildings
• Any building used by industry to store raw material
or to manufacture products of industries is known as

called houses or homes.
• Private owned houses are also called residential

Religious buildings
• These are the buildings for religious purposes,
with a large open interior or other monumental
qualities. They often have towers, domes rising
above the main structure.

• Economical - cost of buildings should be minimum
as possible.
• Functional - When the design of a building meets the
needs of the people who use it and the technical
requirements of the programs it is used for, then the
design is functionally successful.
• Safety - To built safe and secure building for peoples.

• Building Types Matter.
• There will be less wastage of construction materials.
• Cost reduction building can be construct by providing
the need of people who use it.
