Research Ethics And Personal Discourse Community
Research ethics are used when one examines specific research activities and their effectiveness. Often
we find many different sources that we integrate into our work, but we don t usually take the time to
analyze them for their validity. Research ethics is the act of properly using research by using factual
information, verifying it for its validity, and citing it in order to prevent to plagiarism. It is an ethical
way of presenting information so that it makes sense with the topic and with the information we are
presenting.
Project 1:
Project 1 focused on our own personal discourse community, therefore, I believe it didn t have much
in regards to research ethics. My community is one that I feel very comfortable and confident about,
thus, I didn t not need to do much research, but rather pour everything I knew about it into my writing.
Once in a while I would look up certain things such as the roles and certain lexicon. However, since I
was simply looking them up to confirm my information, I didn t consider it research. The part where I
did include a little bit of research was when it came to acquiring pictures to include in my discourse ...

I had to make sure I was not switching the information around to make it false or misinforming.
Instead, I spent time look at synonyms of words in order to give the passage a different meaning. I
also used research by keeping in mind different information that I had obtained in the past. I used
previously acquired information to help me be vague without changing the meaning of the article. I
had to make sure that I was still providing real information in an ethical way, which includes me not
lying or changing the article completely to mean something it didn t. Overall, I believe research ethics
was important in this project because it kept me from messing up, and instead it helped me stay on the

The three items that I would collect would be the external hard drive, the laptop, and the USB thumb
drive. It s important to remember that you must use caution when collecting, packaging, or storing
digital devices to avoid altering, damaging, or destroying the digital evidence. Avoid using any tools
or materials that may produce or emit static electricity or a magnetic field as these may damage or
destroy the evidence (Mukasey, 2008). The first item that I would collect as digital evidence would be
the external hard drive. It may contain all types of evidence such as: files, logs, pictures, recordings, or
even video logs. Before collecting it as evidence I would take pictures of the hard drive, making sure
to get the manufacturer and serial numbers, and then document it. Once complete, I would seal it in an
anti static bag and label that as well. The second item that I would collect would be the laptop. This
could have all of the same type of information that the hard drive has and also may contain copies,
pictures, or the source code itself from Product X. The laptop may show whether or not he was
sharing files or trade secrets with outside sources, or even if he were attempting to crack passwords so
as to get into systems that weren t available to

Great Smoky Mountains Recount
April 30: Today was the first day we spent at the world s most visited national park, The Great Smoky
Mountains. We got here at 7:00 AM. The Great Smoky Mountains are located between North Carolina
and Tennessee. According to my research that I did before we came, The Great Smoky Mountains
have many things like Black Bears, Cades Cove, lots of flowers, and many things things to do. We
haven t done anything yet but we will start everything tomorrow. We are gonna stay for 5 days. April
31: Last night the people at the front desk were so nice and as soon as we went in our room people
gave us welcoming gifts. It was amazing. I wish we could ve done more today though. All we did
today was hike and then we went to the resort. The kids went to the water park that they have and the
parents went to the place with all the other adults. The hotel we stayed at had amazing views and it
was like living in a house! The hotel and the resort were so close that we could walk to it. We walked
to the resort at night to see how it was because mom said we were gonna go there tomorrow so we
went to go check it out. Tonight the parents said we can do anything we want so we are planning on
going to the resort because it will feel cooler than it did this morning. If we don t go to the resort then
we will go check some other stuff out so we can tell our parents what we want to do tomorrow. ...

Archetypes And Ideals Of Beowulf And King
A hero is someone who, in spite of weakness, doubt or not always knowing the answers, goes ahead
and overcomes anyway Joseph Campbell. Stories have so much power connect you to another world
and teach you lessons that are needed throughout history. Archetypes give the story a focal point and
shape the lesson the author is trying to get across. When ideals get embedded into stories, usually it s
when the hero does something noble and valiant so they want their readers to follow in his footsteps.
The Anglo Saxon Beowulf and Medieval Christian King Arthur display many archetypes and ideals to
shape the story and make it exciting. The Beowulf and King Arthur storytellers use archetypes to
create stories with suspense and have their heroes display values of loyalty to their respective
listeners.
Beowulf, king of the Geats, engages in battles in order to protect his community from physical
creatures while King Arthur s knights engage in spiritual battles against evil temptation which lurks
around every corner. Beowulf proudly displays his prowess before he must confront Grendel, the God
cursed brute when he declares with bold confidence that he can calm the turmoil (Heaney 11, 21).
Beowulf boasts of his strength, pledging to kill Grendel with his bare hands. Grendel, the cursed
descendant of Cain, enjoys death and destruction, ruining Hrothgar s reputation with every attack on
his kingdom. The monster kills one of his men, angering the Thanes and encouraging them to fight

An Exploration Of Budgeting And Forecasting
Summary
This paper will be an exploration of budgeting and forecasting and how they are determined and why
they need to be re evaluated at the organization I work for. Furthermore, the hope is to uncover some
of the underlining causes that are the drivers that trigger the re evaluations in our organization as well
as discover ways to mitigate those factors.
Background
Like any other business we need to lower our costs, we apparently have difficulties creating a realistic
budget, at least initially, and also have great difficulties with accurately forecasting. Are budgeting
problems for new products could be due to the fact that prospective costs on new parts take a while to
get properly entered into the system, combine that fact with a 12 month projection, times the number
of parts missing cost information from our budget document and there will be quite a difference in
actual costs at the end. By using a bill of materials for as a guide for new products, items with over $5
per item actually cost difference can be off by as much as 80% overall.
We are not any better at forecasting or predicting are sales revenue. It is not as conservative as it
should be, we may be taking only the optimistic view or we do not have a good understanding of our
place it the market. I m not sure what s driving it. However, I do not know that we buy inventory,
ramp up staffing, add plants, and equipment solely based on these projections, so we need to do this
much better. Also, by using a bill of

Essay on Threat to Internet Privacy
Threat to Internet Privacy
Abstract
At what level is Internet surveillance by the United States government acceptable to society,
considering a balance between security and privacy, what are the short and long term implications, and
how does it affect the rest of the world.
Introduction
Privacy from governments has been under assault increasing amounts in the last 100 years.
Technology has revolutionized the concept, as before we had microphones, telephones, wiretaps,
video cameras, someone would actually need to trespass to violate your privacy. For example, you
would need to actually be in someone?s house to eavesdrop on his or her conversation without
technological help[1]. Privacy protection can be looked at as how ... Show more content on

But a prudent teacher could buy them in another town to avoid this act being discovered by the school.
But with computer technology, the bar code on the condoms could be tied to the credit card number
and to the school records, informing the school that a teacher made an unacceptable purchase[2],
potentially costing the teacher his or her job. Current technology makes such a scenario feasible.
However, such a compilation of publicly available information seems like quite an intrusion of
privacy.
Yet, this ability to track someone?s actions could be used to catch potential criminals and terrorists. A
terrorist could research how to make a bomb online, take flight lessons, and communicate with other
terrorists over email. If this activity were properly monitored, the terrorist could be caught before any
harm was done. Current practices of monitoring based on the Patriot Act have been given credit for
catching more terrorists than ever before[3]. At what level are we willing to give up our personal
privacy for security?
The United States has long had a practice of respecting privacy and considering it an individual right.
In 1890, the U.S. Supreme Court Justice Louis Brandeis stated that individuals have a ?right to be left
alone?[4]. The courts have used this repeatedly as the basis for upholding personal privacy, though
just as often overlooked this right when

My Confession By Leo Tolstoy
Leo Tolstoy, author of My Confession , succumbed to a profound emergency. With his most
noteworthy works behind him, he discovered his feeling of reason lessening as his VIP and open
recognition surged, sinking into a condition of profound wretchedness and sadness regardless of
having a vast bequest, great wellbeing for his age, a spouse who had given him fourteen children, and
the guarantee of endless artistic acclaim. On the very edge of suicide, he made one final handle at light
in the midst of the obscurity of his life presence, swinging to the world s religious and philosophical
conventions for answers to the age old inquiry with respect to the importance of life. Tolstoy talks
about a sort of scholarly emergency that he endured late in his life, and his recuperation from it. In
spite of the fact that Tolstoy appreciated what might conventionally be viewed as a successful and
agreeable life, he started feeling tormented by worries of unimportance. Specifically, he reports
starting to question why he should think about things that he once thought about, or why he should do
the things that he would choose to do. At last, he discovered it inconceivably hard to give answers to
these inquiries. The outcome, he reports, is feeling as though his life were a doltish, pointless trap
played someone has bestowed upon him. He felt as though every individual task he attempted, and
also his life in its totality, were without importance. Tolstoy takes note that before this

The Tyranny Of The Normal By Leslie Fiedler
The author, Leslie Fiedler writes about the differences in what it means to be normal. She discusses
this in a professional manner that opens eyes to what we have disguised and even been ashamed of.
The Tyranny of the Normal, we learn much about what we perceive as abnormal and what society
seems to portray normal as. We discover what we believe is normal and also what has changed
through out the history of this subject. Our minds are opened and exposed to the world of
abnormalities and how we see them. In the beginning of this article we are given background history;
which provides reason to believe she is reliable. We learn that through her discovery of research for
her book, Freaks: Myths and Images of the Secret self, she focused on normal. Through this research
she stumbled upon a very touchy subject, the care of imperiled newborns. This was a very touchy
subject as we learn in the altercation with a fellow celebrant at his party. He stated his opinion saying
that more abnormal babies are dying in hospitals now than how they used to. He went on to state that
this was not good. His friend became enraged and left. He brings a larger realization to this subject in
the chapters that follow. Leslie goes on to state that what we do is accepted now in our scientific age.
We disguise what we do by calling it the removal of life supports form nonviable terata. Due to
medical advances in modern days we can give these babies a chance at life. We can also now detect

Republican Party Research Paper
As many American Liberals have noticed the Democratic Party, supposedly their party, has been
losing big electorally. The presidency, the majority of state governorships, both houses of congress
and the majority of state assemblies have been lost by the Democrats to the Republican Party. This has
left many Democratic citizens wondering, what happened? Why did their party suddenly fall from
favor with the voting public? Though I do not hold myself out as having a definitive answer I do have
a hunch as to why the Democrats have been losing big at the polls. And fair warning, though I will try
to keep this as neutral as possible political biases do have a pesky way of sneaking into these things.

Their political strategies thus treat votes like sales and elections as winning market share in political
power. They don t get hung up on soundness of arguments nor their basis in factuality. All they focus
on is saying what they need to say in order to win votes. A big technique that I ve seen used, especially
by Donald Trump is appealing to confirmation bias, which my inner philosophy minor reminds me is a
logical fallacy. Nevertheless it works and Trump won far more support than anyone predicted he
would. This tactic is one that is commonly used by marketers to elicit a particular behavior from
groups of people and it transfers over seamlessly to the political realm. The legal and academic
argumentation techniques used by the Democrats were never meant to be used to elicit any behavior as
such it comes as no surprise that they don t transfer over to politics nearly as

Notes On The Messiah And The Psalms By Richard P. Belcher Jr.
Introduction This forum post presents the Christological Approach to the Psalms and then describes
the five major categories of Psalms relating to Jesus the Messiah: the (1) Royal Psalms, (2)
Typological Prophetic Psalms, (3) Prophetic Typological Psalms, (4) Prophetic Messianic Psalms, and
(5) Eschatological Psalms.
Christological Approach to the Psalms
The Christological Approach to the Psalms is presented and described by Richard P. Belcher Jr. in his
book The Messiah and the Psalms: Preaching Christ from all the Psalms. The Christological Approach
to the Psalms is based on the hermeneutical principle Jesus taught in Luke 24:26 27, 44 47. Jesus,
following his resurrection, was walking with two disciples and explained to them These are My words
which I spoke to you while I was still with you, that all things which are written about Me in the Law
of Moses and the Prophets and the Psalms must be fulfilled (Luke 24:44). The principle is that all the
Old Testament can be viewed as relating to Jesus not just those passages that directly address Jesus as
Messiah. Given the Christological Approach to the Psalms, the five categories of the Psalms can be
discerned. The information on the five categories of Psalms is summarized from materials presented
by Dr. Gary Yates.
Royal Psalms
A Royal Psalm is about the historical king of that day but these Psalms also point to Jesus the
Messiah. As a result, Royal Psalms are indirectly Messianic. According C. Hassell Bullock

A Review Of Tanf Assistance Programs
A Review of the TANF Cash Assistance Programs
Roughly 20% of the United States children are living in families suffering from poverty (National
Center for Education Statistics, 2015). According to Yeung, Linver and Brooks Gunn (2002); Pungello
et al., (2010); and Evans (2004), economic hardships increase the likelihood of maladaptive behaviors
while decreasing school performance and poor cognitive behavioral development. (1861 1879; 410
426; 77 92). To prevent this, lawmakers were spurred into creating public policy to actively reduce the
rate of childhood poverty along with associated risk factors as well as foster economic independency
in families apart from the welfare system.
The Temporary Assistance for Needy Families Act, TANF, was created out of a block grant from
PRWORA. TANF replaced two programs: the Job Opportunities and Basic Skills Training program
JOBS and the Aid to Families with Dependent Children AFDC program that provided assistance to
mothers and children. Then president, Bill Clinton remarked that the creation of this act would [end]
welfare as we know it (Center on Budget and Policy Priorities, 2015). AFDC had been criticized for
providing assistance to non working mothers and incentives for children out of marriage. As such,
program s design was tailored to fill the needs of poor families through cash assistance so that they
would be able to obtain economic self sufficiency (Abt, 2001). The program has four additional
declared purposes: 1. to

Disadvantages Of Americanization
Although America was able to gain much political power through its ever growing economy there
were many social costs during the process of growth and wealth creation, which are the negative and
undesirable effects of large US corporations (Galambos, 933). One disadvantage of the American
corporate system is the tendency towards monopolization within the market (Galambos, 933). This, in
turn, will create oligopolies within industries and thus there will be little chance or incentive for
competition (Galambos, 937 38). Little plurality of firms dominating the economy is problematic as
economic power is so closely tied to political power (Galambos, 937 38). Now, in an international
framework, as a nation, it is quite arguable why this would be ... Show more content on

The author describes the adaptation of European countries to this new American challenge of
increased efficiency to promote growth and profit within their economy (44). The incentive has been
to catch up with American prosperity by adopting certain features that characterize huge profit

economy (44). However, he highlights that in actual times, although the European corporate system
has successfully adopted parts of the American style corporate structure, it has hybridized them with
socialist values and features (44). European states have been selective in the process of doing so in
order for the system to work successfully within national preconditions and at the same time ensuring
it would not undermine the social welfare that characterizes European economies

Tow Way Immersion Education Programs in the United States
Introduction
Since the 1960s, two way immersion (TWI) education programs have existed in the United States and
have recently seen a surge in growth in the last two decades. Consistent research results have caused
many educators, administrators and parents to recognize the benefits associated for all students
involved in these programs, which has encouraged the expansion and implementation of these types of
programs across the US. In addition to the need to educate the vast growing minority language
demographic in the US, bilingual education leads to academic achievement for all involved (Lindhold
Leary 2004). If the research clearly shows that TWI programs not only help the language minority
groups but also the language majority groups to achieve at or above average grade level academic
success in two languages, then why aren t all parents urging their school administrators to implement
programs in their kids schools? Although the number of TWI schools has grown significantly since the
first one opened in Coral Gables, FL in 1963, the lack of common knowledge of the existence and
success of these programs is one of the main factors to blame for the slow evolution of our schools
into TWI based schools.
Components of TWI Programs
TWI programs differ from traditional schooling in the fact that they combine students from the
language minority and language majority (English in the US) in the same learning environment for all
or most of the school day and strive to promote

as if your reading the Bible critically you are reading to find deep understanding of the material

What was it and how did it work?
Honor during ancient Israel time is a status symbol, it is prize over wealth, and had no social class. It
is what all men during this time strive for with the help of their family and clan to uphold. Honor is
bestowed on a man during this time by his community through his deeds, following the rules, and the
running of his household, making sure their unmarried women and girls are virginal, and married
women reproduce a stay true to their husbands.
6. What is literary genre? Why is it important for understanding the literature of the Bible?
Literary genre is the various forms in which one choose to express their thoughts. There are 5 main
genres poetry, fiction, nonfiction and drama. This is important to the understanding of the Bible
because knowing the type of genre helps to prepare the reader to better understand the text.
7. How does knowing about patriarchy, honor, and literary genre help us to understand what all is
going on in the book of Ruth?
To understand the book of Ruth we first must understand its literary genre which, is a narrative, so we
know how to approach our reading of this story. Knowing about patriarchy, which the males during
this time held all the power, explains why Naomi was pleased that Ruth got Boaz, a wealthy
landowner and kinsman to Naomi s late husband, attention and told her to lay at his feet to ensure their

Cardiac Output ( Co )
Cardiac Output (CO) is defined as the volume of blood pumped out by the heart, specifically by the
left and right ventricle, per unit time (usually in 1 minute). It is the product of Stroke Volume (SV) and
Heart Rate (HR) [1].
CO = SV x HR
Jessica s pre exercise cardiac output can therefore be calculated as 70ml x 70bpm = 4900ml/min or
4.9L/min, whilst her post exercise cardiac output is 110ml x 130bpm = 14.3L/min. In an adult at rest,
the average cardiac output is 4.9L/min for a human female and 5.6L/min for a male [2]. Throughout
normal life, however, cardiac output can vary continuously depending on the metabolic demands of
the body. As seen with Jessica, cardiac output may be raised during exercise, and may also be reduced,
for example in sleep [3].
Stroke volume is the amount of blood pumped out from a ventricle in one heartbeat, and is dependent
on several factors such as heart size, contraction duration, contractility, preload, and afterload [1].
Stroke volume can be calculated as the difference between the volume of blood in the ventricle just
before a heartbeat (end diastolic volume; EDV) and the volume following contraction (end systolic
volume; ESV) [4].
SV = EDV ESV
Average stroke volume is around 70ml (in a healthy 70kg man; with approximately 120ml and 50ml
measurements for EDV and ESV, respectively) [4]. Jessica s stroke volume is also 70ml, which
increases (as expected) to 110ml following exercise, achieved by a drop in ESV due to a more
complete emptying

The Cult Of Mithras And The Roman Empire
We may think that that cult origin by the fact that was taken from relevant scholars, but the early
development has remained consistently disputed. The Cult of Mithras began in the first century and it
was invented by the Roman Empire. When we think about the first century AD, Christianity is almost
very invisible during this time. The cult of Mithras development is mysterious. This religion is
invented by the Italians. Mithras provides members with sense of salvation if they proceed through the
seven stages of initiation, because the important aspect of the cult is that they must be successful, and
have spiritual bonding with their gods. If they do not success, they will face some consequences, but
members who follow this path will be rewarded and be offered compensation. In addition,
archaeological findings show that the Cult of Mithras does stay the same from the beginning of first
century to the end of fourth century AD. Archaeological evidence of the cult only depends on the
materials that existed during Roman Empire. One of the most important types of evidence that the
archaeological record shows is the nature and form of where these men worship, a Mithraeum . Much
of this worship buildings can be found in parts of Europe and they are mostly underground in a cave

Gender in Country Music
Michael Palmiscno Brian Campbell Women in Music October 10th, 2012 Gender in Country Music
Throughout history men and women have played different roles in music. Today is no different. With
the development of the music video, these different roles were magnified. From rap to country, men
and women play roles. DreamWorlds 3: Sex, Desire, and Power in Music Video explores the world of
music video. Women are seen as sex symbols that simply must have sex and will submit to any
fantasy that a man may have. This is mostly displayed in rap music. DreamWorlds 3 also talks about
the language used. Again, it is mostly displayed in rap, and the language is very vulgar. Country music
is different. According to research by Julie Andsager ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These kinds of gender messages are everywhere today. This song displays the traditional messages
sent by male artists. What about female artists? What do their songs portray? Andsager and Roe s
findings give a good description. According to them, there are two kinds of female artists. The strong,
more established female artists portray women as fully equal. These women are in their thirties at
least, they are more established, and they dress in casual suits. They sang romance, female
emancipation, and heartbreak like the rest, but they did not compromise their image in their videos.
They use Trisha Yearwood as an example in her song Everybody Knows. The other type, were women
who fell into the lowest level on the consciousness scale. They used Deana Carter s song We Danced
Anyway as an example. In this song she rolled on the beach in a wet t shirt. Another one is Faith Hill s
song Breathe. In this song, Hill is seen rolling around in her bed sheets with no clothes on. The gender
messages in country music are different than rap. The ratio of male to female artists in country music
is three to one, with a lot of the female artists being of the second type that Andsager and Roe
explained. Therefore more often than not, country music reinforces traditional gender messages. The
good news is that gender messages are beginning to change. Women are now playing

Comparing Dr. Moreau And The Beetle
In two fin de siècle novels, H.G. Wells s The Island of Dr. Moreau (1896) and Robert Marsh s The
Beetle (1897), sadism plays a central role. However, while The Island of Dr. Moreau and The Beetle
both include characters that exemplify sadism, the novels differ greatly in the characters portrayals
due to the sadistic characters gender. The sadistic Moreau is presented as Machiavellian tyrant.
However, because Moreau s gender aligns with ideas of gendered sadism, the novel does not portray
him as degenerate, monstrous, nor ambiguous. In contrast, The Beetle tampers with the sadistic female
body, which leads to doubt of her true sex and form and leaves her as an undecidable, degenerate
monstrosity. The sadistic characters descriptions in The Island of Dr. Moreau and The Beetle ... Show

A perplexing amalgamation of culture and nature led to the pathologizing of sexual perversion by 19th
century sexologists (Peakman 1). Richard von Krafft Ebing first introduced the term sadism in his
book Psychopathic Sexualis (1886). Sadism includes the experience of mental and physical suffering
as pleasurable (Holguin 1285). Later defined as one of the modern perversions by Sigmund Freud, it
was traditionally seen as existing within the male domain (Schaffner 182), and as a type of male

Since 1959, this refining, marketing, and international trading company served the Indian state with
the important task of reducing India s dependence on foreign oil and thus conserving valuable foreign

petroleum industry and ended Indian Oil s monopoly on crude oil imports.
Indian Oil is currently moving ahead through vertical integration upstream into oil exploration
production and downstream into petrochemicals and diversification into natural gas marketing and
alternative energy, besides globalization of its downstream operations.

Sample Kindergarten Classroom Observation
My observation was spent at Bedford Rd School in Pleasantville, New York on January 9th to 13th
during my winter break with Mrs. Vecchiariello s kindergarten classroom. The classroom has two
teachers one is a teaching assistant and the other is the teacher of the room. There are 20 children in
the classroom with some students with special needs so in the morning the teacher gives 1/1 help on
the side in the room on a table and some get pulled out with a special education teacher. The
kindergarten includes a morning and afternoon snack as well as lunch for each student. The students

They communicated information in small units, they tie new information into what the children
already knew, and would check for the understanding. At the end of a lesson or unit the teacher would
ask questions or remarks to engage their curiosity as well. For the most part I did not notice any
children having trouble cognitively understanding or problems not being able to focus their attention.
Mrs. Vecchiariello referred to curriculum framework as she planned her lessons with what she would
do with her children, and the classroom experiences. Mrs. Vecchiariello did not have to revert back to
their curriculum, because she had it memorized from all the years that she has been a teacher. Both the
teacher and teaching assistant sat together when planning and implementing learning experiences
trying to draw on their knowledge of the content, the awareness of what is likely to interest the
children of that age, and to understand the cultural and social context of children s

Decision-Making Capacity
Competency would revolve around the ability to formulate a reasonable decision, it encompasses the
theory that as an individual we possess the knowledge, skill and free will to make a decision willingly
on our own judgement. Criteria for Assessment of Decision Making Capacity Legal standards for
decision making capacity for consent to treatment vary somewhat across jurisdictions, but generally
they embody the abilities to communicate a choice, to understand the relevant information, to
appreciate the medical consequences of the situation, and to reason about treatment choices

Why Do Prime Ministers Become Too Powerful
The Prime Minister has many powers he is the head of the government and leader of his own party.
However no one elects the Prime Minister he or she would have been asked by the monarch to form a
government on the basis of being able to command a majority within the commons (Kingdom, 1999).
The prime minster is very powerful however this can depend on the personality and circumstance a
Prime Minister finds themselves in. There are almost two types of prime ministers of the years such as
the presidential style for example Thatcher however there were also weak and ineffective prime
ministers such as Gordon Brown. The UK Prime Minister and US president are often compared in
terms of power, the US president faces many restrictions within the US ... Show more content on

The greatest threat of the prime ministers power comes from the European Union this is because of
higher European law which the Prime Minister does not have as much influence over unlike lower law
which due to the strong party whip system can be passed through parliament. The only way for the
Prime Minister to not be affected by European law it to withdraw from the European union however
this would be extremely difficult without the Prime Minister splitting his own party or destroying his
own reputation. This therefore shows that the European Union acts as a major check on the prime
ministers power which shows that the prime minister s office has not become overly

Thomas Hooker And Reverend Samuel Stone
The history of Hartford begins with Thomas Hooker s arrival in Newtown (later renamed Cambridge)
Massachusetts where he became a pastor of one of the earliest established churches there. However,
voting in Massachusetts was limited to freemen or limited to people who had been formally
interrogated on their religious views and experiences. Hooker disagreed with these limitations and
their influential pastor, John Cotton. So, Thomas Hooker and Reverend Samuel Stone led a group of
one hundred people in 1636 and founded the settlement of Hartford. Which then led to the founding of
the Connecticut Colony and Hookers increased involvement in politics. On January 14, 1639 freemen
from the three colonies that made up the Connecticut Colony sat down and ratified the Fundamental
Orders of Connecticut which was called the first written constitution known to history that created a
government. It marked the beginnings of American democracy, of which Thomas Hooker deserves
more than any other man to be called the father. The government of the United States today is in lineal
descent more nearly related to that of Connecticut than to that of any of the other thirteen colonies
(John Fiske). Having been founded on such prestige Hartford has seen some of the greatest successes
and some of the worst failures. For example, Hartford claimed leader in both the industrial industry
and insurance industry. Hartford houses some of the most famous insurance agencies and firearm
factories.

Collective Behavior Of Causal Crowd
In the last five years I have gone through a lot of collective behaviors. The first one I m going to be
talking about is Causal Crowd. Every week I go to the store and I always see different people. I never
interact with them like I would if I were at work. The only way I would actually interact with someone
at the store is if I need to find out where an item is located at or someone says hi to me as an act of
kindness. A way I would get emotional at the store is if a cashier I treating somebody with disrespect
so when I get to the cashier I give them an attitude, relatively the same the cashier had given to the

everybody was excited, throwing parties. And with everybody all happy, I became happy to. I went to

their own party so I said I might as well join them right. Another behavior I went through was
Conventional Crowd. It s the twenty first century and most people go out and watch movies and go to

Essay On Angle Analysis Paper
Introduction: The group of Kayla Morabito, Garrett Lewis, Rebecca Oviedo and Zach Prow were
tasked with measuring the PLM building on Main Campus at Wake tech. The first step was to find the
building then measure perpendicularly out thirty feet using a string and measuring tape. Starting from
the ground, at zero feet, one group member held the protracted while the other looked at the angle
created by the top of the building. The group members would rotate places to double check the angle
measure to ensure accuracy. The same process would occur at two and four feet off the ground all still
at thirty feet away; now a group member would have to hold the tape measure tightly with tension.
The purpose is to find the angle measure created by the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
At the four feet measurement, the angle was easier to see therefor the height was a little easier to
calculate versus the ground measurement. Although these numbers were in the general area, for all
three calculations some error was present due to estimations of the angle as well as holding the
protractor. This was difficult because it needed to be in the exact same spot for all calculations since a
group member needed to hold it, the proctor did move slightly throwing off the numbers only a few
degrees. The difficulties in this project was obtaining the data from the ground because it was difficult
to get underneath the protractor to see the angle; someone was on the ground looking up at the
building leaving room for interpretation of the angle measure. This process could have been done
differently by choosing a spot with a lower vantage point. For example, if a group was to measure this
building again and there were stairs, to stand at the bottom of the stairs while still on the ground level
that the building is on. This way that the calculations are still measuring from the ground to the top of
the building, but it would be a lot easier to see underneath the angle versus lying on the

The Effects Of Stress On The World
On the topic of stress, research has widened eyes on the issues of stress because stress is related to
how many hours one is spending away from family or friends. In America, it was customary that
people work long hours. In the U.S., 85.8 percent of males and 66.5 percent of females work more
than 40 hours per week (G.E. Miller). But for many Americans, more work leads to more stress and a
lower quality of life. This amount of stress is not only known to the United States of America, it is
actually culturally extended to other parts of the world. At least 134 countries have laws setting the
maximum length of the work week; the U.S. does not (G.E. Miller). In Japan overwork is known as

a quarter said they are stressed about money most or all of the time. Stress levels are decreasing, but
that still leaves more than half of workers stressed. No matter how low stress levels decrease, people
will always have stress.

Causes Of Anger After The Revolutionary Revolution
After months of anger in Boston, the First Continental Congress in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
fundamentally changed the relationship between the colonies of America and England. As riots had
occurred all over Boston after the passing of the Stamp Act many years earlier in 1765, anger was
destined to occur after the British Parliament passed the Tea Act in May of 1773. Like the Stamp Act,
the Tea Act was to be enforced. Angered at lost profits due to the East India Company controlling the
sell of tea in the colonies, the people of Boston destroyed the tea of the East India Company in
December of 1773. With the British Crown angry towards the anarchist Bostonians, the British
Parliament passed the Coercive Acts in order to punish the Bostonians.

The Pros And Cons Of Immigration And Naturalization
Immigration and naturalization seem to be a relentless ever present concern of the American
government. The immigration of different European, Jewish, Asian, and Hispanic groups during
different eras of American history have continuously raised interest in how the government should
balance America s reputation for being a welcoming place where anyone can succeed, without
sacrificing the economy. One group which was especially targeted and discriminated against by the
legal system throughout American history was Asian immigrants. This is evident in naturalization
laws, and the results of Supreme Court cases petitioned by predominantly Chinese as well as other
Asian groups such as Japanese and Hindus. Much of the discrimination against Asian immigrants
dreaming of becoming American citizens was founded in naturalization acts which dictated who was
and who was not allowed to become a citizen. The Naturalization Act of 1790, as well as the act that
replaced it in 1795, dictated that only a free white person may be granted citizenship (Naturalization
Act 1790/1795). Furthermore, the Naturalization Act of 1906, explicitly dictated that The
naturalization of Chinamen is prohibited (citation). Finally, the McCarran Walter Act, also known as
Nationality Act of 1952, which followed World War II sought directly to exclude the Japanese from
becoming American citizens, stating preference for Chinese and Korean immigrants (citation).
Given the ambiguity of these naturalization acts, there were several cases brought to court to clarify
citizenship laws. Specifically, there were many cases brought by people of Chinese descent. While the
outcomes of those cases were primarily against the foreign plaintiffs, there were still instances where
the plaintiffs won. This is best demonstrated by analyzing the two cases: United States v. Wong Kim
Ark and Chang Chan v. Nagle. Wong. Kim Ark was a child born in the United States of parents of
Chinese descent. Under the Naturalization Act of 1790 previously discussed, Wong s parents were not
eligible for U.S. citizenship. As a result, they moved back to China. After returning from a visit to his
parents in 1890, Wong: applied to the collector of customs to be permitted to land, and

Euro Disney Case Essay
Case Analysis # 1 EuroDisney Disney Land Paris 1. What factors lead to EuroDisney s poor
performance during its first year of operation? EuroDisney had a disastrous first year in Paris, France.
There were many reasons that contributed to the horrible start. I am going to discuss six reasons why I
think EuroDisney had such a hard time adjusting in Europe. 1. It was cheaper for European families to
travel to Disney World in Orlando, FL. Not only was the trip to Orlando going to be cheaper, but it
was almost guaranteed that the weather was going to be spectacular. People go on vacation to have a
good time, but more importantly to enjoy the weather. People in Europe and around the world are not
going to vacation at a spot where the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The cost of a vacation to EuroDisney Paris compared to Disney World in Orlando Florida was
astonishing. I see this factor being foreseeable for this reason. Before a company goes abroad they
must complete an extensive research project on the history, culture, and economics of the specific
region in which they are going to operate. The people in charge of the economics of Europe obviously
did not calculate the amount of money a family was going to need in order to visit EuroDisney. It is
mind boggling that this mistake was not intercepted before the launch. This factor was also
controllable for EuroDisney and the explanation following will explain how. This crucial mistake may
have cost them millions of dollars in revenue and millions of visitors from all over the world. Instead
of attracting people to the new start up attraction, the people opted to travel to the United States and
visit Disney World for a fraction of the price. They should have priced EuroDisney similar to Disney
World in Florida, and the problem may have been alleviated somewhat. The prices should have been
thought out more carefully and compared to other amusement parks in Europe. If that was done from
the beginning, then EuroDisney may have been a success in its first year. The problem that arose in
which the French culture did not like American fairy tale characters was foreseeable and controllable.

Teleological Arguments Essay
The argument from design or the teleological argument points to the existence of order and direction
in nature to a kind of purpose. The argument essentially proves the existence of God. A designer must
exist because the universe and living things exhibit marks of design in their complexity. Design type
arguments are unproblematic when based upon things nature plainly could not or would not produce,
like human artifacts. If designs entail a designer, and the universe shows marks of design, then the
universe was created. An intelligent designer is an entity that the intelligent design movement argues
had some role in the development of life. Essentially, the claim being made is that certain aspects of
the universe are too perfectly ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, if one stumbled across a stone it would be difficult for one to explain how it got there.
Secondly, just as the complexity of a watch imply intelligent design, Paley suggested that the universe
too implies intelligent design. The eye is usually used as an example of design. I know no better
method of introducing so large a subject, than that of comparing a single thing with a single thing; an
eye, for example, with a telescope (Klemke 32). Paley stated that both of these are instruments and
bear resemblance to one another. In order for the eye or telescope to work, there must be many
dissimilar convergent parts that individually have no role but have value only in a designed whole.
Therefore, it is only in the joined unity that they exhibit their total function.
David Hume counter argued against the argument from design. He noted that although we know that
man made structures are designed because we have seen them being built, the analogy does not hold
for non man made structures. A theist must be able to show that natural objects in the universe were
manufactured in some way. For example, trees, humans and rocks. The analogy then requires the
existence of an intelligent designer. Hume criticizes the claim that artifacts and the universe are
similar in the right ways because we have only had experience with just one universe. He rejects the
analogy between the material universe and a human

Rhetorical Analysis Of First Rhetorical Strategy
A library can be a repository of knowledge or a squirrel s worst nightmare. With this in mind an angle
of vision is being created. An angle of vision is not simply written, it is carefully and deliberately
constructed through the proper use of five rhetorical strategies. Word Choice, Sentence Structure,
Overt Statements, Figurative Language, and Selection and Omission of Details are the strategies used
by writers to create the angle of vision. To understand these strategies I have written two paragraphs
that are similar in description yet carry vastly different angles of vision.
The first rhetorical strategy I used in my paragraphs is word choice. Word choice is the intentional use
of certain vocabulary that carries certain connotations which enhance the angle of vision of the writer.
Certain words can be very neutral while others can really convey a strong positive or negative
emotion, due to the connotation. The feeling that is carried by word choice is the reason I chose a
particular sentence from my positive paragraph. To quote, In the backdrop, the soft glow of the
glorious glare is allowed to fill the room as the breeze ruffles the branches of the trees through the life
sized glass. The use of glorious flare with particular emphasis on glorious is a great example of word
choice due to the uplifting feeling that is carried with the word glorious. I could have chosen to write
the sun with no other description. The tone of this particular sentence would begin to

that understands what life is as a Canadian. The Canadian play I chose to read was Toronto
Mississippi by Joan Macleod. The play has different themes that can be used as to teaching tools in
Canadian English classes. The theme of being handicapped is the theme that the play revolves around.
The talented playwright Joan Macleod has yet again made another successful play and should be used
as teaching tool to teach students in Canadian English ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As the play progresses, Jhana s father is slowly introduced as King; he is an Elvis impersonator and is
constantly touring so he is rarely ever home with Jhana or Maddie. With the constant abandonment of
her husband, Maddie is given the very strenuous task of having to take care of her 18 year old
mentally handicapped daughter and having to deal with Bill who eventually falls in love with her.
Having to deal with all this affects Maddie and there are points in the play where she snaps at Jhana
for the stuff she does. We see Maddie has gotten used to all the stuff Jhana does that when King
returns home and says Jhana s real weird, eh she responds by saying what else is new (Macleod 41)
showing how she has gotten used to Jhana s antics, yet still gets agitated by what Jhana does. Bill falls
in love with Maddie and acts as a father figure to Jhana while her father is touring in North America.
Maddie is still in love with King but every time he leaves it affects Maddie in a very negative way.
King chooses his job over his family thus forcing Maddie into a state of sadness and this is evident
when she says Hold on to my perfect little girl. (holding Jhana) You were so warm. To hell with that
bed of mine that had suddenly become so big and icy. I ve got Jhana. (Macleod 58). Maddie realizes
how true of a friend Bill has become that by the end of the play she considers Bill and expresses this
by saying My family is down on the floor (Macleod 94). She

The s Philosophies About The Increased Globalization Of...
1. Appiah s philosophies about the increased globalization of the world, or at least the increased access
to cultures which often did not have significant interaction, claim that it has the overall potential to be
a net positive. His theories have less to do with the actions of sovereign entity and more to do with the
behavior of individuals, but he does simultaneously critique what he believes to be unethical cultural
practices made by societies and so the actions of the leadership and cultural paradigm of the
Revolution will be what is being judged based on the framework of Appiah s philosophy.
a. Appiah s assertions have to do with something which he deems to be other than globalization:
cosmopolitanism. For Appiah, cosmopolitanism goes beyond mere globalization a term that once
referred to a marketing strategy, and then came to designate a macroeconomic thesis, and now can
seem to encompass everything and nothing (Appiah xiii) and even multiculturalism another shape
shifter, which so often designates the disease which it purports to cure (Appiah xiii) representing a
grudging coexistence and maintained separation between different cultures. Beyond these insufficient
terms and concepts, Appiah proposes cosmopolitanism which was coined by the Cynics of the 4th
century BC and means citizen of the universe (Appiah xiv). As cosmopolitanism is mainly an act
undertaken by individuals, a cosmopolitan is someone who places their membership to humanity over
the loyalty to

Essay on Causes of World War I
World War One, also known as The Great War and The First Modern War was a very large scale war
lasting over four years, involving nations from around the world and ultimately killing more than
twenty million people. The cause of this war cannot be accredited to one single event but rather an
assassination of a nation s leader and many political philosophies including militarism, nationalism,
imperialism and the formation of alliances. On Sunday June twenty eighth 1914 in Sarajevo Bosnia
the Archduke of Austria Hungary, Francis Ferdinand, was shot and killed by an eighteen year old
Bosnian Serb nationalist by the name of Gavrilo Princip. It is said that princip was a member of a
secret terror society whose main goal was to untie ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Many European nations had colonies which helped to gather raw materials from foreign places and
extend their rule among others. France and Britain had many colonies in parts on north Africa and
Asia but Germany and Italy did not. They wanted to be a colonial empire as well fueling the fight for
colonies among these four nations. The alliances of this war are what made it a World War . Before the
war there were two main alliances and they were the Triple Alliance consisting of Germany, Austria
Hungary and Italy and the Triple Entente which had Britain, France and Russia. This all changed
when Ferdinand was murdered. Austria declared war on Serbia, causing Russia to declare war on
Austria. Through Germany s ties with Austria they then declared war on Russia. France had
previously agreed to help Russia so Germany declared war on France. Later when Germany invaded
Belgium, Britain declared war on Germany due to its ties with Belgium. Italy then eventually joined
Britain, France and Russia. America was later brought into the war in 1917 by its connections with
England. So during the war the alliance systems changed to the Central Powers consisting of
Germany, Austria Hungary, Bulgaria and the Ottoman Empire and the Allied Powers which were
Britain, France, Russia, Serbia, United States and, Japan to a small degree. World War one was very
different from previous wars for many reasons some of

The Bloodless Revolution Research Paper
The Glorious Revolution has other names. These name would be The Revolution of 1688 and The
Bloodless Revolution. The Revolution started in 1688 and ended in 1689. It took place in the 17th
century in England. James took the throne if his brother Charles when he died in 1685. Since James
was a Catholic Christian, he removed people in the church and army along with Protestant officials
and replaced them with Catholics. James thought laws made by the Parliament were biased to
Catholics so he excluded them and tried to make his own laws that were more liberal to the Catholics.
The Parliament thought that since James had a very big army stationed near London, it was a symbol
that it was an aggressive act and it might mean James was trying to ... Show more content on

On July 1, 1890. This was in Ireland north of Dublin. The north side commander was William of
Orange, the Dutch protestant, and the south side commander was James II, the deposed catholic king.
These two men were blood related. James was not only the uncle of William but also his father in law.
With troops supplied by the catholic king Louis XIV of France, James landed in Ireland in March of
1689. Louis had been Williams sworn enemy. James saw Ireland as a way to regain his crown by
invading England. William always focused on ending Louis XIV s domination of Europe throughout
his reign. William decisively had to deal with the army James represented that had a significant threat.
Ireland had never seen a force as large as Williams invasion. He altogether had more than one
thousand horses to draw his gun equipment and artillery. It was so large that eye witness said Belford
Lough looked like wood. William told the people he had come to ensure them that Ireland would be
settled in a lasting

  • 2. Research Ethics And Personal Discourse Community Research ethics are used when one examines specific research activities and their effectiveness. Often we find many different sources that we integrate into our work, but we don t usually take the time to analyze them for their validity. Research ethics is the act of properly using research by using factual information, verifying it for its validity, and citing it in order to prevent to plagiarism. It is an ethical way of presenting information so that it makes sense with the topic and with the information we are presenting. Project 1: Project 1 focused on our own personal discourse community, therefore, I believe it didn t have much in regards to research ethics. My community is one that I feel very comfortable and confident about, thus, I didn t not need to do much research, but rather pour everything I knew about it into my writing. Once in a while I would look up certain things such as the roles and certain lexicon. However, since I was simply looking them up to confirm my information, I didn t consider it research. The part where I did include a little bit of research was when it came to acquiring pictures to include in my discourse ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I had to make sure that I was still providing real information in an ethical way, which includes me not lying or changing the article completely to mean something it didn t. Stories have so much power connect you to another world and teach you lessons that are needed throughout history. Archetypes give the story a focal point and shape the lesson the author is trying to get across. When ideals get embedded into stories, usually it s when the hero does something noble and valiant so they want their readers to follow in his footsteps. The Anglo Saxon Beowulf and Medieval Christian King Arthur display many archetypes and ideals to shape the story and make it exciting. The Beowulf and King Arthur storytellers use archetypes to create stories with suspense and have their heroes display values of loyalty to their respective listeners. Beowulf, king of the Geats, engages in battles in order to protect his community from physical creatures while King Arthur s knights engage in spiritual battles against evil temptation which lurks around every corner. Beowulf proudly displays his prowess before he must confront Grendel, the God cursed brute when he declares with bold confidence that he can calm the turmoil (Heaney 11, 21). Beowulf boasts of his strength, pledging to kill Grendel with his bare hands. • 6. An Exploration Of Budgeting And Forecasting Summary This paper will be an exploration of budgeting and forecasting and how they are determined and why they need to be re evaluated at the organization I work for. Furthermore, the hope is to uncover some of the underlining causes that are the drivers that trigger the re evaluations in our organization as well as discover ways to mitigate those factors. Background Like any other business we need to lower our costs, we apparently have difficulties creating a realistic budget, at least initially, and also have great difficulties with accurately forecasting. Are budgeting problems for new products could be due to the fact that prospective costs on new parts take a while to get properly entered into the system, combine that fact with a 12 month projection, times the number of parts missing cost information from our budget document and there will be quite a difference in actual costs at the end. By using a bill of materials for as a guide for new products, items with over $5 per item actually cost difference can be off by as much as 80% overall. We are not any better at forecasting or predicting are sales revenue. It is not as conservative as it should be, we may be taking only the optimistic view or we do not have a good understanding of our place it the market. I m not sure what s driving it. However, I do not know that we buy inventory, ramp up staffing, add plants, and equipment solely based on these projections, so we need to do this much better. Also, by using a bill of ... Essay on Threat to Internet Privacy Threat to Internet Privacy Abstract At what level is Internet surveillance by the United States government acceptable to society, considering a balance between security and privacy, what are the short and long term implications, and how does it affect the rest of the world. Introduction Privacy from governments has been under assault increasing amounts in the last 100 years. Technology has revolutionized the concept, as before we had microphones, telephones, wiretaps, video cameras, someone would actually need to trespass to violate your privacy. For example, you would need to actually be in someone?s house to eavesdrop on his or her conversation without technological help[1]. Privacy protection can be looked at as how ... But with computer technology, the bar code on the condoms could be tied to the credit card number and to the school records, informing the school that a teacher made an unacceptable purchase[2], potentially costing the teacher his or her job. Current technology makes such a scenario feasible. However, such a compilation of publicly available information seems like quite an intrusion of privacy. Yet, this ability to track someone?s actions could be used to catch potential criminals and terrorists. A terrorist could research how to make a bomb online, take flight lessons, and communicate with other terrorists over email. If this activity were properly monitored, the terrorist could be caught before any harm was done. Current practices of monitoring based on the Patriot Act have been given credit for catching more terrorists than ever before[3]. At what level are we willing to give up our personal privacy for security? The United States has long had a practice of respecting privacy and considering it an individual right. In 1890, the U.S. Supreme Court Justice Louis Brandeis stated that individuals have a ?right to be left alone?[4]. With his most noteworthy works behind him, he discovered his feeling of reason lessening as his VIP and open recognition surged, sinking into a condition of profound wretchedness and sadness regardless of having a vast bequest, great wellbeing for his age, a spouse who had given him fourteen children, and the guarantee of endless artistic acclaim. On the very edge of suicide, he made one final handle at light in the midst of the obscurity of his life presence, swinging to the world s religious and philosophical conventions for answers to the age old inquiry with respect to the importance of life. Tolstoy talks about a sort of scholarly emergency that he endured late in his life, and his recuperation from it. In spite of the fact that Tolstoy appreciated what might conventionally be viewed as a successful and agreeable life, he started feeling tormented by worries of unimportance. Specifically, he reports starting to question why he should think about things that he once thought about, or why he should do the things that he would choose to do. At last, he discovered it inconceivably hard to give answers to these inquiries. The outcome, he reports, is feeling as though his life were a doltish, pointless trap played someone has bestowed upon him. He felt as though every individual task he attempted, and also his life in its totality, were without importance. Tolstoy takes note that before this ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 11. Notes On The Messiah And The Psalms By Richard P. Belcher Jr. Introduction This forum post presents the Christological Approach to the Psalms and then describes the five major categories of Psalms relating to Jesus the Messiah: the (1) Royal Psalms, (2) Typological Prophetic Psalms, (3) Prophetic Typological Psalms, (4) Prophetic Messianic Psalms, and (5) Eschatological Psalms. Christological Approach to the Psalms The Christological Approach to the Psalms is presented and described by Richard P. Belcher Jr. in his book The Messiah and the Psalms: Preaching Christ from all the Psalms. The Christological Approach to the Psalms is based on the hermeneutical principle Jesus taught in Luke 24:26 27, 44 47. Jesus, following his resurrection, was walking with two disciples and explained to them These are My words which I spoke to you while I was still with you, that all things which are written about Me in the Law of Moses and the Prophets and the Psalms must be fulfilled (Luke 24:44). The principle is that all the Old Testament can be viewed as relating to Jesus not just those passages that directly address Jesus as Messiah. Given the Christological Approach to the Psalms, the five categories of the Psalms can be discerned. The information on the five categories of Psalms is summarized from materials presented by Dr. Gary Yates. Royal Psalms A Royal Psalm is about the historical king of that day but these Psalms also point to Jesus the Messiah. As a result, Royal Psalms are indirectly Messianic. According C. • 12. A Review Of Tanf Assistance Programs A Review of the TANF Cash Assistance Programs Roughly 20% of the United States children are living in families suffering from poverty (National Center for Education Statistics, 2015). According to Yeung, Linver and Brooks Gunn (2002); Pungello et al., (2010); and Evans (2004), economic hardships increase the likelihood of maladaptive behaviors while decreasing school performance and poor cognitive behavioral development. (1861 1879; 410 426; 77 92). To prevent this, lawmakers were spurred into creating public policy to actively reduce the rate of childhood poverty along with associated risk factors as well as foster economic independency in families apart from the welfare system. The Temporary Assistance for Needy Families Act, TANF, was created out of a block grant from PRWORA. TANF replaced two programs: the Job Opportunities and Basic Skills Training program JOBS and the Aid to Families with Dependent Children AFDC program that provided assistance to mothers and children. Then president, Bill Clinton remarked that the creation of this act would [end] welfare as we know it (Center on Budget and Policy Priorities, 2015). AFDC had been criticized for providing assistance to non working mothers and incentives for children out of marriage. This, in turn, will create oligopolies within industries and thus there will be little chance or incentive for competition (Galambos, 937 38). • 15. Tow Way Immersion Education Programs in the United States Introduction Since the 1960s, two way immersion (TWI) education programs have existed in the United States and have recently seen a surge in growth in the last two decades. Consistent research results have caused many educators, administrators and parents to recognize the benefits associated for all students involved in these programs, which has encouraged the expansion and implementation of these types of programs across the US. In addition to the need to educate the vast growing minority language demographic in the US, bilingual education leads to academic achievement for all involved (Lindhold Leary 2004). If the research clearly shows that TWI programs not only help the language minority groups but also the language majority groups to achieve at or above average grade level academic success in two languages, then why aren t all parents urging their school administrators to implement programs in their kids schools? Although the number of TWI schools has grown significantly since the first one opened in Coral Gables, FL in 1963, the lack of common knowledge of the existence and success of these programs is one of the main factors to blame for the slow evolution of our schools into TWI based schools. Components of TWI Programs TWI programs differ from traditional schooling in the fact that they combine students from the language minority and language majority (English in the US) in the same learning environment for all or most of the school day and strive to promote ... • 18. Cardiac Output ( Co ) Cardiac Output (CO) is defined as the volume of blood pumped out by the heart, specifically by the left and right ventricle, per unit time (usually in 1 minute). It is the product of Stroke Volume (SV) and Heart Rate (HR) [1]. CO = SV x HR Jessica s pre exercise cardiac output can therefore be calculated as 70ml x 70bpm = 4900ml/min or 4.9L/min, whilst her post exercise cardiac output is 110ml x 130bpm = 14.3L/min. In an adult at rest, the average cardiac output is 4.9L/min for a human female and 5.6L/min for a male [2]. Throughout normal life, however, cardiac output can vary continuously depending on the metabolic demands of the body. As seen with Jessica, cardiac output may be raised during exercise, and may also be reduced, for example in sleep [3]. Stroke volume is the amount of blood pumped out from a ventricle in one heartbeat, and is dependent on several factors such as heart size, contraction duration, contractility, preload, and afterload [1]. Stroke volume can be calculated as the difference between the volume of blood in the ventricle just before a heartbeat (end diastolic volume; EDV) and the volume following contraction (end systolic volume; ESV) [4]. SV = EDV ESV Average stroke volume is around 70ml (in a healthy 70kg man; with approximately 120ml and 50ml measurements for EDV and ESV, respectively) [4]. Jessica s stroke volume is also 70ml, which increases (as expected) to 110ml following exercise, achieved by a drop in ESV due to a more complete emptying ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

These women are in their thirties at least, they are more established, and they dress in casual suits. They sang romance, female emancipation, and heartbreak like the rest, but they did not compromise their image in their videos. They use Trisha Yearwood as an example in her song Everybody Knows. The other type, were women who fell into the lowest level on the consciousness scale. They used Deana Carter s song We Danced Anyway as an example. In this song she rolled on the beach in a wet t shirt. Another one is Faith Hill s song Breathe. In this song, Hill is seen rolling around in her bed sheets with no clothes on. The gender messages in country music are different than rap. Thomas Hooker And Reverend Samuel Stone The history of Hartford begins with Thomas Hooker s arrival in Newtown (later renamed Cambridge) Massachusetts where he became a pastor of one of the earliest established churches there. However, voting in Massachusetts was limited to freemen or limited to people who had been formally interrogated on their religious views and experiences. Hooker disagreed with these limitations and their influential pastor, John Cotton. So, Thomas Hooker and Reverend Samuel Stone led a group of one hundred people in 1636 and founded the settlement of Hartford. Which then led to the founding of the Connecticut Colony and Hookers increased involvement in politics. On January 14, 1639 freemen from the three colonies that made up the Connecticut Colony sat down and ratified the Fundamental Orders of Connecticut which was called the first written constitution known to history that created a government. It marked the beginnings of American democracy, of which Thomas Hooker deserves more than any other man to be called the father. The first step was to find the building then measure perpendicularly out thirty feet using a string and measuring tape. Starting from the ground, at zero feet, one group member held the protracted while the other looked at the angle created by the top of the building. The group members would rotate places to double check the angle measure to ensure accuracy. At the four feet measurement, the angle was easier to see therefor the height was a little easier to calculate versus the ground measurement. Although these numbers were in the general area, for all three calculations some error was present due to estimations of the angle as well as holding the protractor. This was difficult because it needed to be in the exact same spot for all calculations since a group member needed to hold it, the proctor did move slightly throwing off the numbers only a few degrees. The difficulties in this project was obtaining the data from the ground because it was difficult to get underneath the protractor to see the angle; someone was on the ground looking up at the building leaving room for interpretation of the angle measure. This process could have been done differently by choosing a spot with a lower vantage point. For example, if a group was to measure this building again and there were stairs, to stand at the bottom of the stairs while still on the ground level that the building is on. • 36. The Pros And Cons Of Immigration And Naturalization Immigration and naturalization seem to be a relentless ever present concern of the American government. The immigration of different European, Jewish, Asian, and Hispanic groups during different eras of American history have continuously raised interest in how the government should balance America s reputation for being a welcoming place where anyone can succeed, without sacrificing the economy. One group which was especially targeted and discriminated against by the legal system throughout American history was Asian immigrants. This is evident in naturalization laws, and the results of Supreme Court cases petitioned by predominantly Chinese as well as other Asian groups such as Japanese and Hindus. Much of the discrimination against Asian immigrants dreaming of becoming American citizens was founded in naturalization acts which dictated who was and who was not allowed to become a citizen. The Naturalization Act of 1790, as well as the act that replaced it in 1795, dictated that only a free white person may be granted citizenship (Naturalization Act 1790/1795). Furthermore, the Naturalization Act of 1906, explicitly dictated that The naturalization of Chinamen is prohibited (citation). Finally, the McCarran Walter Act, also known as Nationality Act of 1952, which followed World War II sought directly to exclude the Japanese from becoming American citizens, stating preference for Chinese and Korean immigrants (citation). Given the ambiguity of these naturalization acts, there were several cases brought to court to clarify citizenship laws. Specifically, there were many cases brought by people of Chinese descent. While the outcomes of those cases were primarily against the foreign plaintiffs, there were still instances where the plaintiffs won. This is best demonstrated by analyzing the two cases: United States v. Wong Kim Ark and Chang Chan v. Nagle. Wong. Kim Ark was a child born in the United States of parents of Chinese descent. Under the Naturalization Act of 1790 previously discussed, Wong s parents were not eligible for U.S. citizenship. As a result, they moved back to China. EuroDisney had a disastrous first year in Paris, France. There were many reasons that contributed to the horrible start. I am going to discuss six reasons why I think EuroDisney had such a hard time adjusting in Europe. 1. It was cheaper for European families to travel to Disney World in Orlando, FL. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The cost of a vacation to EuroDisney Paris compared to Disney World in Orlando Florida was astonishing. I see this factor being foreseeable for this reason. Before a company goes abroad they must complete an extensive research project on the history, culture, and economics of the specific region in which they are going to operate. The people in charge of the economics of Europe obviously did not calculate the amount of money a family was going to need in order to visit EuroDisney. It is mind boggling that this mistake was not intercepted before the launch. This factor was also controllable for EuroDisney and the explanation following will explain how. This crucial mistake may have cost them millions of dollars in revenue and millions of visitors from all over the world. Instead of attracting people to the new start up attraction, the people opted to travel to the United States and visit Disney World for a fraction of the price. They should have priced EuroDisney similar to Disney World in Florida, and the problem may have been alleviated somewhat. The prices should have been thought out more carefully and compared to other amusement parks in Europe. If that was done from the beginning, then EuroDisney may have been a success in its first year. • 42. Teleological Arguments Essay The argument from design or the teleological argument points to the existence of order and direction in nature to a kind of purpose. The argument essentially proves the existence of God. A designer must exist because the universe and living things exhibit marks of design in their complexity. Design type arguments are unproblematic when based upon things nature plainly could not or would not produce, like human artifacts. If designs entail a designer, and the universe shows marks of design, then the universe was created. An intelligent designer is an entity that the intelligent design movement argues had some role in the development of life. Essentially, the claim being made is that certain aspects of the universe are too perfectly ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, if one stumbled across a stone it would be difficult for one to explain how it got there. Secondly, just as the complexity of a watch imply intelligent design, Paley suggested that the universe too implies intelligent design. The eye is usually used as an example of design. I know no better method of introducing so large a subject, than that of comparing a single thing with a single thing; an eye, for example, with a telescope (Klemke 32). Paley stated that both of these are instruments and bear resemblance to one another. In order for the eye or telescope to work, there must be many dissimilar convergent parts that individually have no role but have value only in a designed whole. Therefore, it is only in the joined unity that they exhibit their total function. David Hume counter argued against the argument from design. He noted that although we know that man made structures are designed because we have seen them being built, the analogy does not hold for non man made structures. A theist must be able to show that natural objects in the universe were manufactured in some way. For example, trees, humans and rocks. The analogy then requires the existence of an intelligent designer. Hume criticizes the claim that artifacts and the universe are similar in the right ways because we have only had experience with just one universe. An angle of vision is not simply written, it is carefully and deliberately constructed through the proper use of five rhetorical strategies. Word Choice, Sentence Structure, Overt Statements, Figurative Language, and Selection and Omission of Details are the strategies used by writers to create the angle of vision. To understand these strategies I have written two paragraphs that are similar in description yet carry vastly different angles of vision. The first rhetorical strategy I used in my paragraphs is word choice. Word choice is the intentional use of certain vocabulary that carries certain connotations which enhance the angle of vision of the writer. Certain words can be very neutral while others can really convey a strong positive or negative emotion, due to the connotation. The feeling that is carried by word choice is the reason I chose a particular sentence from my positive paragraph. Appiah s philosophies about the increased globalization of the world, or at least the increased access to cultures which often did not have significant interaction, claim that it has the overall potential to be a net positive. Appiah s assertions have to do with something which he deems to be other than globalization: cosmopolitanism. For Appiah, cosmopolitanism goes beyond mere globalization a term that once referred to a marketing strategy, and then came to designate a macroeconomic thesis, and now can seem to encompass everything and nothing (Appiah xiii) and even multiculturalism another shape shifter, which so often designates the disease which it purports to cure (Appiah xiii) representing a grudging coexistence and maintained separation between different cultures. Beyond these insufficient terms and concepts, Appiah proposes cosmopolitanism which was coined by the Cynics of the 4th century BC and means citizen of the universe (Appiah xiv).
