Data is essential to create effective evidence-based strategies to prevent and end homelessness. This workshop will examine methodologies of point-in-time counts and other surveys, discuss coordinating HMIS with mainstream data systems and explore ways to use these data to inform policy decisions and interventions.
Operation “Blue Star” is the only event in the history of Independent India where the state went into war with its own people. Even after about 40 years it is not clear if it was culmination of states anger over people of the region, a political game of power or start of dictatorial chapter in the democratic setup.
The people of Punjab felt alienated from main stream due to denial of their just demands during a long democratic struggle since independence. As it happen all over the word, it led to militant struggle with great loss of lives of military, police and civilian personnel. Killing of Indira Gandhi and massacre of innocent Sikhs in Delhi and other India cities was also associated with this movement.

A Strategic Approach: GenAI in EducationPeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.
The French Revolution, which began in 1789, was a period of radical social and political upheaval in France. It marked the decline of absolute monarchies, the rise of secular and democratic republics, and the eventual rise of Napoleon Bonaparte. This revolutionary period is crucial in understanding the transition from feudalism to modernity in Europe.

From a range of 1-10 individuals living together in one household, data shows that there is
an average of 5-6 members living together under the same roof.
This gives a significant implication as to how high the risk of contamination could be, given
that within each of these homes resides a person/persons with highly transmissible diseases.
Residents of Zone Ubi living under these conditions are at a critical position; as with increased
contact with one another in close proximity especially when a member is a probable susceptible
host, reservoir, or carrier of an illness; may pave the way to an unfortunate phenomenon—the
thriving of the chain of infection.

8. Interpretation, Analysis and Implication:
Out of the surveyed population, the greatest numbers of residents in Zone Ubi are those
from the 22-30 individuals of the female group, followed by the same age group but of the male
group.
It can be seen from the data established that based on the average age group which is the
young adult population, activities such as health education, health promotion, and sexual and
reproductive health are, generally, the aspects that should be given keen interest in.
Dependent age group are the people ages 6 years old and below, and 65 years and above.
Only a minority of the surveyed population belongs to the dependent age group. It indicates that
only a small number of the surveyed population are to be taken cared in order to attain there goals.

10. A greater number of Zone Ubi residents are married which comprises up to 74%, while
18% are single, 3% are widowed and 5% are staying as live-in partners.
Decision Making varies with persons from different marital status. Persons who are single
make decisions independently, trusting their own selves. They usually make the decision by
themselves, or they approach their selected support systems pertaining to how they could handle
these concerns. Married persons tend to be more dependent about making decisions; couples who
come across problems on health readily seek advice from each other as to how they could work
against the occurrence of illness and disease. They can help guide one another in seeking health
care and also in health management.

12. Data reveals that 12% of the Zone Ubi residents are college graduates, also 18% are high
school graduates and 20% are elementary graduates. Whereas 14% of these residents reached
college level, 14% were educated until the high school level and 21% for elementary level. Only 1%
has no educational attainment.
Aside from religion, educational attainment is another important factor that can readily and
gravely influence the effectiveness of the community health nurses’ teachings. The level of
educational attainment affects the receptiveness of our clients towards health education. Some
nurses may find it difficult to communicate with individuals who have no educational background
whatsoever and may find it difficult to find the middle ground when giving health teachings. This
may also be detrimental especially in teaching about the nature of the occurrences of varied
diseases and disorders. Therefore it is critical that our approach in advocating health teachings
should be careful, simple, and specific. Individuals who are college graduates, high school
graduates or those who have college levels/high school levels as their highest educational
attainment, may be less difficult to communicate with in matters of health education in that they
may have a wider and broader scope of understanding and comprehension. These statistics,
however, do not adamantly pinpoint who will turn out to be more health conscious or less health
conscious; rather, it simply underscores the distinctions as to how receptiveness to health
teachings among the Zone Ubi residents may vary.

Interpretation, Analysis and Implication:
Among the surveyed population, majority of the family bread winner is the father followed
by the mother. Only 10% of the population has both the father and mother earning for the family.
15
16. Most of the families earn an average of P1000-5,000/month. Majority of the population
claimed that their income is enough for their daily expenses. While 30% of the population, says it is
not enough due to the number of members in the family and expenses for food and medicine.
The father being the post of the family usually ends up being the breadwinner, supporting
his family in any way he can. Although in some cases other members of the family give their share
in the expenses of the family, it’s the fathers basic responsibility to provide for his family, this being
he reason that the father goes out to work while the other usually stays home to tend to the family.
An income of less that 16,000 per month means that that certain family/individual belong
below the poverty line, in this case majority of the population believe that their income is enough to
support their family, this generally shows the Filipino saying “bahalag saging basta labing-labing”
meaning that Filipinos try to be content with whatever they have in their life.
Most of the families in Zone Ubi stated that they don’t have enough budget for health. They
said that sickness could affect the budget of the family. Furthermore, it post a big threat in the
family’s health especially regarding nutrition.

Prenatal care is important to prevent mortality of he unborn fetus and to promote maternal
health. The results of this question show that mothers in Zone Ubi do indeed understand the
importance of prenatal care. The result that majority of mothers do indeed take part in the
17

free in the health center.
When they were asked for the reasons why they don’t seek for prenatal care, mostly
answered “kapoy man lakaw” and lack of time for consultation.

Results of this question prove that mothers do indeed partake in their prenatal care due to
the fact that it is free, prenatal care done in the health center is usually assisted by the trained
midwife. Mothers believe in the value of prenatal care stating that they don’t take their pregnancies
for granted. Some mothers also partake in the services of the health center for the purpose of the

Majority of the mothers give birth at home at 64%, others at 35% give birth in the hospital

Home delivery for the mothers in Zone Ubi for them is considered economical and
comfortable. Some mothers are quite traditional and believe in the value of privacy and home
deliveries signifying a closer bonding with kids. There are also quite a great number of mothers who
give birth in the hospital, probably due to the availability of package deals which sometimes cost
cheaper than the usual. With this, delivery can give a great threat to newborns especially a big risk
for infection.

During delivery majority of the mothers are assisted by the midwife at 37%, the physician at

1% forgot who assisted in their delivery.
Most of the mothers in delivery, they prefer midwives to assist in the delivery. This implies
that the risk of acquiring postpartal complications is lessened because the individuals assisting the
delivery are professionals, such as the midwives and the physicians. Midwives are the most chosen
individuals to assist during the delivery probably because the fee is lesser and that they know what
to do. A great number of mothers prefer physicians because of the trust and experience of the
physician during delivery. Hilots are lesser than midwife and physicians due to the experience and
the availability of the facilities during delivery. Few of the population forgot who assisted the

also shows a significant number of teenage pregnancies occurring in Zone Ubi comprising 9%. And
a few, comprising only 1% of the population comprise pregnant women of ages above 40.
This shows that a good number of pregnancies occurred at an appropriate child bearing
age wherein the body of a woman is most prepared to carry a pregnancy. Results reveal that some
women gave birth at an early age (adolescent). This data is useful to organize health education
regarding reproductive health especially on adolescents, such as what age should a woman bear a

they could seek consultation from government health units that are free or otherwise low cost. It is
important to inform the people of the available community health resources.

breeding ground for insects which can be vectors for certain diseases. In addition, it can easily
overflow and may even flood the community during the rainy season. A closed drainage system
can lessen if not avoid the above circumstances, and fosters effective health promotion with
regards to environment control and maintenance.

Sixty five percent of the population use the piped system from MCWD. 21% use the
artesian well, 8% use both the piped system and artesian well, 5% use open well and 1% use

54% of the residents have no purification methods. 24% of the people in the community
boil the water as a method of water purification. 19% of the people use mineral water. 3% of the
subjects purify their water through chlorination.
As such, it would be important to raise awareness on the importance of clean water; sharing
water could increase the risk of transmission of microorganisms. As shown, half of the residents are
at a high risk of transmitting microorganism causing diseases.
Pipes protect the water supply of the community. Artesian and open wells do not, however,
readily ensure the safety of the water. That microorganisms can be transmitted down under should
be considered, too.
This is a positive sign since we can surmise that the community understands the effect of
having safe water for drinking. Water transmitted diseases can occur less due to the use of safe
water through boiling and the use of mineral water. However, a considerable 54% still do not use
any means of purifying their water. This 54% is still of concern and should be educated with the
benefits of purifying their water supply.

which can be transmitted through fecal-oral route. This 34% is of concern and should be educated
regarding the importance of having their own toilet. The second findings imply that majority of the
population have sanitary toilets therefore, the chances of acquiring certain heath problems related
to unsanitary toilets are lesser.
Fecal borne diseases are rampant and predominant; therefore it is a must for fecal- borne
diseases and may even be an avenue for the thriving of pathogenic organisms. This may be an
alarming factor in that toilet use is indeed unavoidable; everyday, community residents without a
doubt utilize it as a part of man’s normal physiologic function. Therefore, increased contact with
these unsanitary toilets is equipped with an increased risk of acquiring fecal-borne illnesses.

There are definite phases of health management that may interfere with the teachings and
ideal practices laid down by a certain religion however it is with respect to this that community
health nurses come into the picture, that we would be more aware and cautious in approaching
them, at the same time, be able to convey adequate information that would be of assistance in
promoting optimum health and maintaining a healthy lifestyle among the inhabitants of Zone Ubi.
