Pablo Picasso was a Spanish painter born in 1881 who became a master of modern art. He had mastered drawing skills by age 12. Picasso helped pioneer Cubism in the early 1900s, breaking objects into geometric shapes and planes to depict multiple perspectives simultaneously. Later in his career, Picasso experimented with Surrealism and created the anti-war painting Guernica in 1937 to depict the brutality of conflict.
