Eval Question 3
1.
2. In hopes of our targets audience enjoying the
production as a whole, we had asked this
question to reassure that our product was
successful. The results stated that 100% of the
participants responded with 'yes' - indicating
that indeed our documentary had pleased our
target audience.
Although it can be argued that some people
from our target audience may have failed to
relate/engage to our topic; nevertheless our
production still received positive feedback.
1. Did you enjoy Love@First Click as a whole?
3. 2. What was the weakest aspect of the
documentary?
This question was placed so we can hear the
audiences critiques.
There was a possibility that the audience
wouldn't have enjoyed watching our product as
they may have failed to engage with the topic due
to it being quite personal. However, the
responses are overwhelmingly positive, so it
seems that those surveyed did engage with
documentary and found it interesting.
4. 3. What was the strongest aspect of the
documentary?
This was a follow-up question to the previous one
and features the same options. The responses
given indicate that the audience particularly
enjoyed the interviews and the topic of the
documentary. This can suggest that this was also
the strongest part of our documentary, as we had
to base the interviews around the topic.
Nevertheless, the results imply how the audience
engaged with the topic and the interviews.
5. 4. What could there be more of?
Due to our production only being five minutes
long and we were required to include a lot of
different aspects, there was a distinct possibility
of something not having the necessary amount of
screentime. According to the audience response,
they wanted to see more graphics and cutaways -
this suggests that they wanted more visuals to
highlight what was being said in the interviews.
Despite lacking these features in our
documentary, our documentary had succeeded
it’s aims.
6. 5. Do you feel informed about the
topic of online dating?
As our documentary was aimed to inform our
target audience about online dating, the results
lie in our effectiveness of distributing the context
thoroughly. Fortunately, 100% of the audience's
feedback stated they felt informed.
Furthermore, this also suggests how our
documentary had met the codes and conventions
of being an informative yet entertaining piece of
work- allowing us to uphold reputation of a
documentary and be recognised as one.
7. 6. Would you be interested in watching the rest of
the documentary if it were ever to be made?
As our documentary is only 1 part of the whole
production, we wanted to see if our documentary
was successful enough to be watched as a whole.
The results stated that everyone would be
interested in watching it, showing how our
product had succeeded in it's aims and implying
our audience did enjoy the documentary.
8. 7. In your opinion, did the documentary fit
the target audience of 15 to 55 year olds?
It is vital that our production fits it's target
audience as we have to make sure the context is
appropriate for their ages. The responses
indicated that we had done well in selecting our
target audience range.
Although the topic of online dating is something
that should not be discouraged, we felt as if only
this age group would be able to understand and
relate to the documentary while finding it
entertaining. The results reassured us and
indicated the we had met our goals.
9. 8. Which interviewee would you
have wanted to hear more from?
Although our audience varied on who they would
have wanted to see more of, majority of them
said they would have wanted to hear more from
Uzma Khan. This may be due to her personal
experience intriguing the audience, wanting them
to hear more about her story and how she
overcame it.
Furthermore, this implies how our audience are
more intrigued in the ‘story telling’ part of the
documentary, meaning that they have the desire
to connect with the interviewee and relate to
them in every way.
10. 9. You would describe the
documentary as…
The vast majority of our target audience rated
our documentary as either 'excellent', 'great' or
'good'. This would seem to suggest that the
documentary was successful and appealed to our
audience as there was no negative
comments/ratings made; this result was
overwhelmingly positive and indicated how we
had met our aims by a huge amount.
11. From my audience’s feedback, I can see where we have achieved our aims and where we would need
slight improvement. Using the post questionnaire helped my group and I insanely as it clearly illustrated
our audience’s intentions and mood after watching the documentary; positive!
Through this feedback, it is obvious that our documentary lacked key essentials like graphics and needed
to add more cutaways; however despite this critique, the audience stated that they enjoyed the
documentary fully and would love to see it again.
What went well:
• The documentary had a clear and coherent structure, leading the audience through the topic and
keeping them engaged throughout the way
• The sound and voice-over was well picked, clear and gave a good mood for the audience to relate to
• Interviewees were well spoken and gave good advice, while being interesting and not boring
• Use of cinematography and editing was really well played out
Even better if:
• Constable Skibb’s part of the documentary was shortened slightly, audience may have found it boring
• Interviews were slightly longer, allowing the audience to connect and relate to their stories
• Graphics were added
• Voice-over was slightly slower, allowing the audience to hear more clearly.
12. CONCLUSION:
I feel that my documentary was a huge success. The surveyed audience members
response showed massive success rates, while on YouTube the views increase day
by day.
This shows how people are engaging with the product and responding back with
feedback that is unimaginable.
