Our five main senses - sight, hearing, touch, taste, and smell - allow us to interpret stimuli in our environment. Sight uses the eyes to see color and shape, hearing detects sounds through the ears, touch senses pressure and temperature via skin receptors, taste buds on the tongue identify flavors, and smell is mediated by receptors in the nose. The nervous system coordinates both voluntary and involuntary actions in response to internal and external stimuli through two main parts: the central nervous system and peripheral nerves.
