Elements of Meaningful Organizational Velocity
Key notes from the depth of Organizational Behavior (OB)
(set course, balance engines and engage)
• Set a proper course
– Initial direction is more important than speed
• Balance divergent interests
– Harmonizing conflicting organizational interests is key in overcoming inertia
• Harness diverse energy forms
– Place great value on individual and team relationships, these are the ties that hold
it all together
– Send resources to the points of need that benefit organizational mission and
competitive advantage, withhold from those that do not
Meaningful organizational velocity relates to; the desirability of the destination,
the degree of diversity, and the aggregate strength of relationships.
The greater the collective intensity of these factors, the greater the organizational
velocity.
