institutions

Guidance Program is a system of services
designed to improve the adjustment of every
person for whom it was organized. Guidance
Program is not a merely a specialized service, but
becomes an integral part of the educational
system. It is responsive to the student’s needs
and recognizes the student as an individual. It
aims to personalize and humanize the education
of the student. It is a collaborative work of the
three pillars of the educational system, namely,
administration, instruction and guidance.
Basic Organizational Principles
It should be based upon the goals/aims of the program. It must be
reflective of the school’s vision/mission providing a favorable situation
for its wise implementation. It has to be well prepared to meet the
needs of the clients. In the needs analysis survey using a checklist, the
community, the parents, the students and the teachers are involved.
Authority and line of responsibility must be clearly defined. An
organizational structure will explain the how. A clear definition of the job
description of the management staff must supplement the structure.
objectives
• Coordinates with school staff to provide supportive instructional guidance
activities that relate to students: self-knowledge, educational and occupational
exploration, and career planning to facilitate academic achievement.
• Collaborates with school staff in planning and scheduling guidance activities.
• Conducts classroom guidance activities related to identified goals and objectives.
• Gathers and evaluates data to determine effectiveness of classroom guidance and
• student comprehension, making revisions where necessary.
• Provides direct/indirect assistance to learners preparing for test taking.
• Provides information to students, parents, and teachers on student test scores.
• Provides information to students and parents on career planning.
• Assists students in their transitions to the next educational/career level.
• Leads skill-building groups in student self-knowledge

Basic Organizational Principles
Operation has to be systematic with the extent of
control that is well-established. It must evidently
present the team of persons responsible for a
certain job/activity.
Good leadership and human elements must be
indicated. A line of persons involved in the work
under a dynamic facilitator should coordinate the
guidance services.

– What did we do well and why?
• Weaknesses
– Are there gaps in the program?
– What did we not do very well and why?
• Opportunities
– How can we enhance the program to the benefit of
the students?

• The guidance programme is one which helps
in development of full potentials of the
individuals. There is a brilliant child locked
inside every student.
• The purpose of a organizing guidance
programme should be drawn up to identify
long term objectives as well as short term
plans.

Organization of guidance programme in educational intuitions

  • 1. Organization of guidance programme in educational institutions Made by :MONIKA KALSI M.Ed-CUJ Roll No. 1300413
  • 2. Guidance Program is a system of services designed to improve the adjustment of every person for whom it was organized. Guidance Program is not a merely a specialized service, but becomes an integral part of the educational system. It is responsive to the student’s needs and recognizes the student as an individual. It aims to personalize and humanize the education of the student. It is a collaborative work of the three pillars of the educational system, namely, administration, instruction and guidance.
  • 3. Basic Organizational Principles It should be based upon the goals/aims of the program. It must be reflective of the school’s vision/mission providing a favorable situation for its wise implementation. It has to be well prepared to meet the needs of the clients. In the needs analysis survey using a checklist, the community, the parents, the students and the teachers are involved. Authority and line of responsibility must be clearly defined. An organizational structure will explain the how. A clear definition of the job description of the management staff must supplement the structure.
  • 4. objectives • Coordinates with school staff to provide supportive instructional guidance activities that relate to students: self-knowledge, educational and occupational exploration, and career planning to facilitate academic achievement. • Collaborates with school staff in planning and scheduling guidance activities. • Conducts classroom guidance activities related to identified goals and objectives. • Gathers and evaluates data to determine effectiveness of classroom guidance and • student comprehension, making revisions where necessary. • Provides direct/indirect assistance to learners preparing for test taking. • Provides information to students, parents, and teachers on student test scores. • Provides information to students and parents on career planning. • Assists students in their transitions to the next educational/career level. • Leads skill-building groups in student self-knowledge

AIMS of organizing guidance programme • Understanding the school environment • School success skills • Career awareness and educational planning • Understanding self and others • Understanding attitudes and behaviors • Decision making and problem solving • Interpersonal and communication skills • Community pride and involvement.
  • 6. Basic Organizational Principles Operation has to be systematic with the extent of control that is well-established. It must evidently present the team of persons responsible for a certain job/activity. Good leadership and human elements must be indicated. A line of persons involved in the work under a dynamic facilitator should coordinate the guidance services.
  • 7. Analysis of the program • Strengths – What were the best aspects of the program and why? – What did we do well and why? • Weaknesses – Are there gaps in the program? – What did we not do very well and why? • Opportunities – How can we enhance the program to the benefit of the students?

There is a brilliant child locked inside every student. • The purpose of a organizing guidance programme should be drawn up to identify long term objectives as well as short term plans.
