Global Beverages Ltd is a tea production company that was originally a joint venture between Tata Tea and Tetley Group. It is now a wholly owned subsidiary of Tata Tea. The company produces various types of tea bags and tea at its facility in Cochin, India. It has various departments, including operations, finance, materials, and quality assurance. It employs around 166 permanent employees and additional contract workers. A SWOT analysis found strengths in its brand image and capacity, but weaknesses in underutilized capacity and no domestic supply. Suggestions included more employee empowerment and improved warehouse facilities.

OPERATIONS DEPARTMENT • Productionand shipping comes under operations department FUNCTIONS- • Control over production process. • Implementation of daily production plan. • Checking safety hygiene aspects of factory timely shipment coordination. • Administration of manpower management • Dispatching

- 8. SHIPPING • As shippingis not considered as a separate department, it is a part of operations department. After production quality check and packing the products dispatch/ export FUNCTIONS- • Receipt of purchase order • Stipulating the production department to shift production accordingly. • Stuff the goods for shipment. • Documentation. • Arranging for payment

FINANCE DEPARTMENT • Themargin is fixed at 6% for tea bags and 3% for packet teas • As the company forms only a division of Tata Tea, it does not have a separate capital structure FUNCTIONS – • Managing the daily financial transactions and banking transactions. • Responsible for keeping ledger accounts. • Annual budgeting exercise. • Working capital management. • Monitoring the fund requirement and communicating to the head office(Kolkata)

FUNCTIONS- • Food safety management system • Delivery of purchase good on time • Communicating with production department for receiving purchase order. • Vendor management • Procurement of all packing materials flavors and consumables.

Sub store • Sub stores those spares and items which are needed on a regular basis or often needed.

QUALITY ASSURANCE DEPARTMENT FUNCTIONS- •Inspection is done to find any variation in the weighing machines used in the department. • The department is also in charge of dealing with market complaints from the exporting countries. All complaints are studies analyzed and a detailed root cause analysis done after which the complaint is closed. • Incoming packaging material passing • Blend approvals

FUNCTIONS- • Collective bargaining • Negotiation and administration • Disciplinary actions • Manager individual employee relation cases from incident occurrence through final disposition. • Performance management through structured appraisal (giving only guidelines though IR programmes are conducted by concerned department) • Legal complaints (labor laws) • Handling trade unions

- 21. SUGGESTIONS • More employeeempowerment should be given • The management should provide more motivational programs for the employees • The company should take necessary steps to improve ware housing facilities for finished goods
- 22. CONCLUSION The organizational studyat TGBL, Cochin helped me to understand the various functions of an organization. It helped me to understand the functioning of different departments and how they are coordinated and managed to achieve a common goal. It helped me to understand how the management principles are set in to practice. The study has helped me to understand and adapt with the challenges like difficulty in collecting and processing of raw data, non availability of basic information, constraints in time etc. I feel that new product development, concentrating on corporate social responsibility, exploring new markets and providing more customer satisfaction etc are the future prospectus of the company.
