what is cellulose acetate fibre ?
Cellulose acetate fiber, one of the
earliest synthetic fibers, is based on
cotton or tree pulp cellulose
("biopolymers"). These "cellulosic
fibers" have been replaced in many
applications by cheaper petro-
based fibers (nylon and polyester)
in recent decades.
Physical properties
Characteristics of Cellulose
acetate fibre
• Cellulose acetate is an insoluble cellulose derivative regarded as a nontoxic, nonirritant, and
biodegradable material. Its strong and durable
• It is heat-resistant and less hygroscopic.
• High moisture absorption
• Thermoplasticity: Cellulose acetate can be easily molded when heated, making it suitable for
pleating and shaping in textile applications.
• Dyeability: The fiber is easily dyed, allowing for a wide range of vibrant colors and designs.
• Cellulose acetate is partially acetylated cellulose, in which the acetyl content ranges from 29.0% to
44.8%, corresponding to mono-, di-, and triacetate.
• Biodegradable, Soft and Smooth and UV Resistance
• excellent film-forming property, high chemical and mechanical stability, high hydrophilicity, eco-friendly,
and suitable cost.
Applications
• Textiles and Apparel: Cellulose acetate fibers are used to create textiles, including
clothing, lingerie, and linings. They have a silky feel, good draping characteristics, and can
be easily dyed. They are often used in garments that require a luxurious appearance and
comfortable wear.
• Films and Photography: Cellulose acetate was historically used in photographic film and
motion picture film. While digital technology has largely replaced traditional film, cellulose
acetate film was widely used for its transparency, flexibility, and stability.
• Home Furnishings: Cellulose acetate fibers are used in the production of upholstery
fabrics, drapes, and other home furnishing textiles due to their aesthetic appeal and
durability.
• Medical and Hygiene Products: Cellulose acetate fibers are utilized in medical products
such as wound dressings, bandages, and surgical products. They are also used in

Limitations
