Mismatch Between Limbic System
There is a mismatch between when the limbic system starts to mature and when the prefrontal
cortex starts to mature. The limbic system starts at the onset of puberty and with it starting at an
earlier age today the gap between when the limbic system matures and the prefrontal cortex matures
is getting larger making the window for risky behavior longer than it was before.
Since adolescent brain has the ability to change in response to the environment by modifying the
communications networks that connect brain regions, those changes make them vulnerable to
dangerous behaviors and mental disorders.
The increase in connectivity among brain regions is indicated as greater volumes of white matter
from childhood through adulthood. Which is the fatty

Sandra Bland s Injustice
Sandra Bland s Injustice When I first heard about Sandra Bland s story, my heart broke
immediately. No, I did not know her personally but I had the thought that, that could have been
me. On July 13, 2015 social media, the news and the internet were booming with information
about the death of Sandra Bland. Sandra Bland was arrested on July 10, 2015 for a minor traffic
violation in Hempstead, Texas while she was on the way to accept her new job at Prairie View A
M. Three days later Bland was found hanged in her jail cell in Waller County, Texas. The county
coroner classified her death as a suicide, although many believe that she was murdered by one of
the officers. Until this day we still question, What really happened to Sandra Bland? This incident
has affected not only me but others as well.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Sandra had no cameras inside of her cell. A camera outside her cell recorded no movement in the
hallway for 90 minutes before guards found her dead. The autopsy states that she committed
suicide and that there was no sign of struggle. Sandra s family had no reason to believe that she
would take her own life. They claimed that she was well grounded and had always been. Sandra
Bland was taking a new job at Prairie View A M University in Texas. She had graduated from
Prairie View A M in 2009 and was returning there as a student ambassador. So why would this
woman who had just gotten a great job offer take her own life? As time passed during her
investigation, things just were not adding up. The video from inside Waller County jail from
the camera outside of her cell had been released. The video that was released for the press and
for the world to see did not show anyone going into Sandra s cell. Now studies state that video
was edited. It also went to the extent that when Sandra Bland took her mug shot she was already
dead. There was a before and after picture released that showed that it had been photo

Critical Appreciation Of John Keats
British Romantic Literature Assignment (Semester IV)
Nayan Srivastava (1116)
Keats s Escape from Reality
John Keats, a second generation Romantic poet, is considered the perfect Romantic poet. His works
have been read, appreciated and studied across the world, though this was not done during his
lifetime. Only in the twentieth century did Keats get due credit and respect for the complexity of
his odes, his pursuit of truth and beauty and dealing with human difficulty and suffering.
The Romantic poets, as a whole, strived for perfection. Romanticism grew as an opposition to the
Enlightenment Age or the Age of Reason and as a result the poets focused on emotion, motives and
imagination. Keats is known for his aestheticism, sensuousness and captivating imagery in his
works. On analysis of his ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This ode is the simplest of all his odes and describes the scenes of autumn as a season of
abundance. It has a mellow tone and this ode picks up where all the others left off. The simple
and sincere appreciation of the season and its reflections in nature as well as the calm
acceptance of the upcoming winter project Keats as an evolved individual. Even though a
season too is transient in nature, he is inspired in its fleeting beauty and does not yearn
permanence as in Ode on a Grecian Urn . Keats preoccupation with mortality and death as in Ode
to A Nightingale , too simmers down in this work. The wafting wind is described as living or
dying, and the use of these words emphasize an acceptance on his behalf about the natural
inevitability of this process. Winter is viewed as a season of absolute decay when everything
freezes, and hence To Autumn can be seen as a period prior to the death when one begins to
accept one s fate and does not fear death anymore. This ode essentially provides a serene and
tranquil closure to all the other odes that preceded this and places Keats in a more stable position in

The Figure.3.6 shows the implementation 8x8 modified booth multiplier using High Performance
Multiplier (HPM) reduction method [4]. The modified booth algorithm is a predominant high
performance multiplier which has low number of partial products row. The generation of these
partial products is quite complex to implement in hardware. So in this work has used a straight
forward way of implementing a Signed and Unsigned Multiplication using Baugh Wooley
Algorithm with HPM reduction tree method. Baugh Wooley Multiplier with HPM reduction tree is
discussed in Chapter Six.
CHAPTER FOUR: LOW POWER DESIGN
4.1 Introduction:
In earlier stages of VLSI circuit design the emphasis is on Area and Speed optimization giving
concerns to Packaging and Efficient designing. As the technology scales down according to
predictions of Moor s Law, it is advent that the CMOS dimensions have been scaled down
drastically. But due to increase in use of Portable Devices Such as Cellphones, Laptops, Personal
Health Monitoring systems, there has been a demand of higher battery life for Portable devices.
Whereas big data centers which contains large set of circuits consumes tremendous power and
dissipates large amount of heat which incurs huge cost to maintain. The solution for these problems
is to design circuits which consume low power which give rise to the concept of Low Power VLSI
designing.

Argumentative Essay On Net Neutrality
Net Neutrality is a widely debated topic that comes with not only great support but also logical
opposition. While looking at net neutrality you must consider several ideas that impact the topic.
Before looking at any ideas though, you must first understand what net neutrality is. First, it is an
abbreviation of network neutralitywhich is the idea, principle, or requirement that Internet service
providers should or must treat all Internet data as the same regardless of its kind, source, or
destination as stated by the Merriam Webster Dictionary. A few of those ideas previously
mentioned are how will the consumers, economy, internet service providers, content providers, and
others be impacted by having net neutrality or taking away net neutrality. Appealing net neutrality
and how it would occur is another very large topic. How difficult that would be is very important.
Net neutrality is a subject that has so many influential factors that it is hard to come to a single
right answer, and that is why the thorough research of this issue is so greatly needed.
Net Neutrality is an argument that has been highly debated for years, but in the past several months
it has come back contentious as ever. To give a bit of background, you should know that the FCC is
an acronym for the Federal Communications Commission. It is a government committee that
watches over both interstate and international communications by all communications such as
radio, television, wire, satellite,

Stress And Stress
Pain is something every human can say they have experienced at one point in their life. Evidence
also has shown that a big part of illnesses is linked to stress, which can result in onset chronic
pain. So what causes stress and how can it be managed? We can find the answer by examining Dr
Jane Ogden book The psychology of health and illness and a study that highlight the effects of
psychological moderators, and the use of blogging to combat chronic painand stress.
Ogden books regards stress as an transaction between people and the environment that involves
biochemical, physiological, behavioral and psychological changes. (Ogden, 2017). It has to do
with the way a person response to different events and situations that comes up. Stress can cause
illness directly ( physical changes) or indirectly ( behavioral changes). The impact of stress on
illness illustrates a further role for psychological factors as it is moderated by coping, social
support, personality and control. Psychological factors also influence whether stress translates into
illness.
Psychological moderators are in itself tools to help in the reduction of stress and can tremendously
affect health outcomes. To better interpret what stress is, and how manage it these moderators,
according to Dr Ogden comes in the form of Coping, social support, personality, and control.
Specifically, how blogging is a form of social support that can help in reducing stress.
Social support is the of perceived

A FRAMEWORK FOR EPBT CALCULATION OF ROOF MOUNTED PHOTOVOLTAIC
SYSTEMS
Introduction
Currently, most of the world s energy is derived from fossil fuels (World Energy Resources 2013
Survey). Fossil fuels are a limited resource and might not be able to meet the future energy
requirements of the world for too long (Shafiee and Topal 2009). Apart from being non renewable,
these are also significant contributors of greenhouse gases to the environment leading to air, water
and land pollution (Marland and Rotty 1984). Due to the nature of these resources there is an
urgent need to conserve these resources. It is also important to explore alternative energy sources for
the future. To this end, multiple solutions have been proposed. One of the most ... Show more

It can be anywhere in between 3 years to 30 years or even more depending on a multitude of factors.
Energy pay back time (EPBT):
The Energy Pay Back Time is defined by EPBT = Einput/Esaved, where Einput is the energy input
during the module life cycle (which includes the energy required for manufacturing, installation,
energy use during operation, and energy needed for decommissioning) and Esaved the annual
energy savings due to electricity generated by the PV module. EPBT depends on a number of
factors: cell technology, type of encapsulation, frame and array support, module size efficiency, PV
system application type (autonomous or grid connected) and, finally, PV system performance as
determined by irradiation and the performance ratio. EPBT is also affected by factors that do not
directly relate to the characteristics of the PV power system itself: conversion efficiency of the
electricity supply system and energy requirements of materials like glass, aluminum etc. (Alsema
2000)
In order to determine the EPBT of a photovoltaic system, it is very important to determine the total
energy that is required to manufacture, install, transport and dispose the system as well as energy
required for any other purpose during the life cycle of the system.
A typical PV system consists of different components. The components of a PV system can be
classified into two categories:
1.The Panel: This consists of the panel

Argumentative Essay On Homeland Security
America has been on edge about protecting both its country and the citizens in it ever since 9/11
occurred. We have developed a more strict security line with the placement of Homeland security.
We also tested our limits to make sure that terrorism in this country would no longer become a
threat to U.S citizens; little did we know that our efforts to prevent the inevitable would only last a
short time. Now that the U.S has eliminated its central threat Osama Bin Laden leader of the Al
Qaeda terrorist group in the Middle East, another issue has created nothing but chaos and has
further split the foreign relations between the U.S and the Middle East. Furthermore, a new

Oppression Of Women Essay
The oppression of women through occupationally established sex segregation and the gender
wage difference remains an important economic discussion. The overall gender wage gap has
fallen significantly since 1890 to its current rate of 21.4%. Women are making great strides
increasing their labor market experience and skills. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics
Report 58.6% of women make up the labor force, 50.2% have multiple jobs, and 75.4% of single
mothers are in the labor force. Today more women are head of households. Despite all the progress

Many activists expected that, given women s loyal contributions to the Union women would be
recognized along with African American men as full citizens. Women s rights were governed by
state and not federal laws. So when the northern states abolished slavery, black women gained
rights to marry, have custody of their children and own property. Women in the southern
slaveholding states continued to be denied these basic human rights. Legally black and white
women now had the same legal rights, however race prejudice made it difficult for black and
Native women to ensure these rights in practice. Furthermore, legal status of free women depended
on marital status. Marriage changed a woman s legal status because married couples were seen as

Sofia Semionova Marmeladov is a large part of Crime and Punishment, acting as both a love
interest and a moral compass for Raskolnikov. Despite her pivotal role in the narrative however,
she is a victim of women s usage in literature in the most literal sense. She is a prostitute, being
used and abused by men every night for the sake of bringing in money for her abrasive family.
Sonia is viewed in the lowest regard by most, and is particularly by her stepmother. Literary
tropes aside, Sonia s personality does not benefit at all from her nightwork. While some might
take the job of prostitution and use it to harden themselves from emotional pain, Sonia s tender
nature makes her more susceptible to the night by night terror that she faces. Her innocence is
articulated by Marmeladov when he is talking about how he borrowed money from her and says
She gave me thirty kopecks with her own hands, the last she had, everything, I could see that
myself.... She said nothing. She only looked at me in silence.... (Dostoyevsky, 19). Her reaction
towards him, rather than fighting for her hard earned money, she meekly gives it to him,
demonstrates how subservient she has become, how used to being used she is. Despite prostitution
being legal in Russia at the time, Sonia being forced into the profession is immoral, another
example of how she is used. While she

Questions On Behavior And Behavior
Purpose of Study With every misbehavior, a child is communicating their needs to an adult. The
purpose of this research is to fully understand why misbehavior occurs in the classroom. Through
relevant research and in class observations, this study will conclude how teachers can positively
guide the class to avoid reoccurrence of misbehaviors. Understanding why the misbehavior is
occurring will help avoid the situation for future occurrence. Research that is mentioned this study
covers different aspects of misbehaviors including different theorists and beliefs to why
misbehavior occurs in the classroom. The purpose of this study is also to observe students in a
classroom environment to see how often misbehavior happens. Classroom observations will help
identify misbehaviors that occur with a specific student or the whole class and how often it occurs.
Different methods were used to conduct and document this observationfor applicable results.

2008 Global Economic Crisis
Due to globalizations and open trade unions, economies are more linked to each other.
So, the economic crisis in 2008 became the global economic crisis and influenced international
businesses. Economic activities were weakened, people lost their jobs, wages and benefits were
reduced and unemployment was rising. As far as the US government wanted to keep US
economy going they reduced already low interest rates and slowed down economic growth. US
bank losses were forecast to hit $1 trillion and European bank losses will reach $1.6 trillion. The
International Monetary Fund (IMF) estimated that US banks were about 60% through their losses,
but British and eurozone banks only 40%. (Lost Spaces, 2009). Financial systems, in this case,
created the financial crisis with devastating social and economic effects. Key impacts of the crisis
are slow economic growth, losses in real estate wealth and job losses, which directly influenced
households and their income. The government response was Troubled Asset Relief Program
(TARP), through which the government purchased toxic assets from ... Show more content on

highest rate since 1983 (Goodman, 2009). The economic crisis reduced spending on social

Alka-Seltzer
After adding distilled water, alka seltzer began bubbling extensively, as the two substances react
and form CO2(g) and a buffer. Sodium bicarbonate also bubbled mildly, as it reacts with water to
form carbonic acid, which then breaks into CO2(g).
Aspirin, Alka seltzer, and Tylenol showed up acidic from the Universal indicator, whereas
sodium bicarbonate and the unknown were blue and basic. This is because sodium is a non
reactive ion, as it is part of NaOH, a strong base, where as bicarbonate attaches to H+ ions to form
carbonic acid, thus increasing OH concentration and pH. On the other hand, Aspirin, or
acetylsalicylic acid, forms salicylic acid and acetic acid, lowering pH. Alka seltzer also showed up
as acidic because it contains aspirin. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the first part, there may have been cross contamination of materials, especially since periods
before us had already performed the experiment. During chromatography, our spot sizes were
initially very varied, as we didn t know exactly how much of each substance to place when we
began. Thus, the substances in more abundance would have greater opportunity to travel up with
the eluent, skewing the results. In the beginning, we even put 6 7 drops, causing some of the
substances to mix together. Touching the TLC plate may also have disrupted some of the
substances traveling up.
Improvements and Adjustments
If we were to repeat this lab, we would make sure to ensure the equipment was clean and the
substances were not contaminated before proceeding. For chromatography, we would only put one
drop from the micro pipettes onto the TLC plate, instead of the 6 we started out with initially. This
would allow the substances to stay separate, and our results would be more accurate. We may also
have touched the TLC plate during the experiment, so we would be more careful to only touch the
edges of the plate.

Analysis On Defoe s Roxana
Maddox, James H. On Defoe s Roxana. vol. 51, no. 4, 1984, pp. 669 691 Looking at the
framework of Defoe s previous novels, Maddox demonstrates how although Roxana follows a
similar pattern of other characters, her outcome is drastically different. In former novels, when
faced with a moment of devastation, the character divided from their previous self, and in turn
gained control. From there, the character is faced with yet another unfavorable situation, but this
time they are able to overcome it in their new powerful state. On the contrary, Roxana divided from
her previous self, but still faced destruction and tragedy in the end. Maddox also examines closely
the relationship between Roxana and Amy, and how their characters follow this... Show more

However, after the appearance of Susan, Roxana becomes increasingly more secretive and
closed off from her audience. Molesworth makes the argument that since the abandonment of
her first husband, Roxana is unable to trust anyone. As a result of this, all of her relationships
will ultimately fail whether it be with potential lovers, her children, longtime friend, and even
the audience. Molesworth also shows how Roxana s detachment goes as far as to reduce her
children to genderless and nameless individuals, referring to them as simply it. Snow, Malinda.
Arguments to the Self in Defoe s Roxana. Studies in English Literature, 1500 1900, vol. 34, no.
3, 1994, pp. 523 536. Snow indicates within her argument that Roxana is one of Defoe s darkest
novels, by means that his character is unable to go through the transformation from sinful to
righteous. Rather, the line between her past and present self has never been crossed. Along with
this concept, Snow illustrate how Roxana is a peculiar character since she debates with herself
about what she should do next, and predicts possible outcomes of the path she will take. In this
manner, Roxana is incredibly self aware and is able to reason with her actions in a way that is
uncommon for individuals at the time. This realization of the self that she possesses is attributed to
the way that she both justifies her actions, and denies herself the right to be saved. Westfall,

The next instance where Linda serves as the family s destroyer is in Act 1. Linda justifies Biff s
desultory life by saying, He s finding himself, Willy (1404). Willy replies, Not finding yourself at
the age of thirty four is a disgrace! (1404). Linda says, Shh! (1404). Willy says, The trouble is he s

A City In Winter And A Complicated Kindness Analysis
The Necessity of Sacrifice in the Lives of the Innocent
The innocence of youth is often romanticized as being has days filled with laughter and energy;
it is oblivious of the stress and responsibilities of this world. In such a picturesque world,
however, it becomes easy to forget the many limitations of youth:. nNo right to vote, to make
decisions, to own property or to even stay up past a specified bedtime. The idyllic life of a child is
easily disagreeable to those youth who want know what they want; to those youth with great
aspirations. Many children both real and in fictional literature experience great struggles while
trying to achieve goals by their own accord. Western North American authors Mark Helprin and
Miriam Toews effectively portrayed this plight of a willful child in their novels A City in Winter
and A Complicated Kindnessrespectively. Mark Helprin s A City in Winter is the tale of an
extraordinary young girl reclaiming her kingdom. Yet even with her wit, charm and innocence,
her progression is ultimately unsuccessful until her surrogate father swoops in quite literally to
save the day knowing it is at the expense of his life. Likewise, Miriam Toews A Complicated
Kindness is about a young girl who knows exactly what she wants, but lacks the moral strength and
maturity to obtain it. Her father, who is both morally strong and mature, must eventually sacrifice
his comfortable way of life for his daughter. In both novels the girls lack power due to

From what we saw it is pointing all of the blame to Mattox. A 911 dispatcher contacted Officer

Essay Israel and Palestine
The Issue Of Israel and Palestine
In 1993, in Oslo, Norway a historic peace agreement was secretly drawn up with the hopes of
bringing all the violence between the Palestinians and the Israelis to an end. Yasser
Arafat, the chairman of the PLO, and Yitzhak Rabin who was prime minister of Israel at the time
shook hands at the White House in front of President Bill Clinton to finalize the accords. This was
the first step towards peace in a long time between the warring nations, and one that many people

Ariel Sharon is a big bully. I do not justify Palestinian attacks on Israeli civilians, and I do believe
that Yasser Arafat supported terror strikes, but Sharon knows that he has the upper hand in the
whole situation. America is going to stand behind Israel, so Sharon makes all these crazy
demands from the Palestinians. He will give them some of their land, but Israel will control the
air space in the new Palestinian territory. Of course Palestine is not going to agree to that,
demands like that are absurd, but Sharon has the world on his side because when he blows up a
house full of Palestinians, it is referred to as a military action, but when Palestinians attack Israel
it is looked at as terrorism. President Bush and his cabinet of maniacs has created this entire
scare of terror attacks, and Ariel Sharon was the first person to jump on that bandwagon. This
was exactly what he needed to justify Israel beating up on Palestine and taking control of
Palestinian land. The United States spawned all of the enemies that we are fighting with today by
giving them aid. They gave aid to the Taliban to fight the Soviets during the cold war, they gave
millions of dollars and arms and supplies to Saddam Hussein to help Iraq win the war versus Iran.

regions that would split the north and south between a boundary called the DMZ line. Then at that
time the north and south was divided between the line. The line was called the Demilitarized Zone
where the vietnamese were given total control of all territory of the north and everything to the
south was controlled by the country of vietnam and france. (Don Lawson the united stantes in the

They were taken from the Ode to Joy , a poem written by Friedrich Schiller in 1785 and revised in

One Ordinary Day With Wallets Short Story
One Ordinary Day, with Wallets Mr. Johnson put on his uncomfortable shoes and then trudged out
into the way to bright and shiny morning sunshine. He was not in the best of moods, so when he
stopped at a newspaper stand to pick up his daily morning newspaper, he spoke angrily to the
salesperson to hurry up. When another man came to buy a paper, Mr. Johnson quickly stole his

couldn t find it and even paid the 60 cents for the paper, so as to not seem suspicious. When he
had walked a few blocks away from the newspaper stand Mr. Johnson hunched over some and
began to walk slowly. He arrived at a crosswalk and then started to painfully cross it. A naive
woman quickly ran up and said Would you like me to assist you, sir?
Mr. Johnson eyed the expensive looking dress and shoes the lady was wearing and replied Yes,
thank you, it is so kind of you to aid me.
As they reached the sidewalk the lady said Where are you headed? Oh, just simply down the street
to the drugstore to buy myself some heart medication. Mr. Johnson said.
The woman said, Well, then I ll walk you there.
Mr. Johnson then replied Oh that won t be necessary, but I appreciate your kindness in helping me
across the street. Then he swiftly and sneakily stole her wallet from her purse and rushed away.
She was dumbfounded about how he was suddenly able to walk fast, but simply shrugged it off
and went about her day, not knowing that her wallet was gone until it was too late. Mr. Johnson
then headed to a hot dog cart, along the way pickpocketing three more wallets off of rich looking
businessmen. When he got there he asked for a hot dog with mustard. The man gave him one

Acculturation And Assimilation In The Pity Of It All By Elon
Short Paper 1: Acculturation/Assimilation: Gains
Over the course of history, the Jewish culture has endured many cultural hardships. When
Nationalism began to rise in Europe, the treatment of Jews became harsh. Amos Elon describes this
transition for Jews in his novel The Pity of it All. For all their irony and skepticism, the Jews of
Germany never ceased in their effort to merge German and Jewish identity...their overriding desire
was to be complete Germans. (Elon, 8). The major concerns in Jewish history throughout the ages
have been assimilation and acculturation. Acculturation and assimilation are two very important
concepts that describe the cultural effects on both minorities and majorities. While these concepts
are very similar, there are slight differences between ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One component of our society that demonstrates the concept of acculturation is food. People with
Chinese, Hispanic, Italian, and French roots carry their own culture while still accepting the
customs in America. In restaurants, the food they serve follows the same traditions that could be
found in other countries while still adapting to the language and culture of the whites. While
acculturation is more accepting to the majority of society, minorities can still be treated harshly.
The Jews, for example, were willing to adapt to the German culture. In fact, many of the Jews
loved the Germans and wanted to be one united culture. At the same time, the Jews wanted to keep
their religion and some aspects of their culture: The vast majority never hid the fact that they were
Jews. (Elon, 8). Some people like Moses Mendelssohn believe that it was possible to be Germans
and Jews at the same time. However, the Germans felt threatened by the intellect of the Jews and
began to deny them all opportunities to succeed in society. Rejection is one of the negative
outcomes that can result from acculturation. In addition acculturation can lead to many outcomes

Alternative Energy Sources Essay
Imagine a world where nobody can use their iPhone, their computer, or even turn on the lights.
That is the kind of world the future may be like if there is not an overhaul of how electricity is
obtained. Ever since the Industrial Revolution, people have utilized fossil fuels to power their
homes, cars, and businesses. Unfortunately, our stores of fossil fuels are running low, and they
have been demonstrated to increase the temperature in the atmosphere and accelerate global

All of the proven sources of oil will be depleted by the year 2055 according to Erika Antoniazzo,
a woman who is well read in terms of oil production.(eco info.net) On the other hand, renewable
resources can never be depleted. There will always be wind that can blow turbines. There will
always be a sun to heat solar panels. There will always be water to run through dams. The power
that can be drawn from these sources is limitless, which is obviously more sustainable than fossil
fuels, which clearly has a limit. Scientists are developing technology in the field of nuclear
fusion (the process in which the sun creates its energy), which if obtained will provide an
infinite amount of power. These alternative sources of energy will provide energy for the world
until the end of time. The government has been greatly influenced by big oil companies lobbying
for political power. No single group should have such a large amount of power over the
government. If our focus on fossil fuels is shifted over to a more general scope that includes
various renewable energy sources, then no single group of companies will have a significant
amount of power in the direction of the country. Since oil companies have an iron grip on
decisions the U.S. makes, we have gone to several wars over the pursuit of oil. General Zilmer
stated that the amount of casualties can be reduced greatly if troops could move away from their
use of fossil fuels.(News Observer) These wars would

Pablo Picasso s The Mother, 1901, is an oil painting on cardboard mounted on panel. The painting
depicts the scene of a mother carrying a toddler with one hand, and holding her child in the other
hand. These three figures are in the foreground, and behind them, we can see slight landscape of
houses, a hill, and the sky. Although Picasso depicts the simple subject of the mother and her two
children, he represents the mom s exhausting and rough life through dull composition, faded and
blue color, and rough style. Picasso creates a still composition of figures, and conveys heaviness
and roughness in the painting. Among the group of the mother and children, the mom is the biggest

The reproduction is largely compared to the original work especially in the color and texture.
Most noticeable difference is first in color. In the painting, Picasso intentionally uses dull and
cold colors and creates the rough mood. Particularly, he uniquely paints blue shades in the mother
s profile, expressing her tiredness and depression. However, in the reproduction, most colors are
whitened. The faded gray in the sky and even dull blue in the mother are all shown as white in the
postcard. While whitening out the subtle cold shades in the original work, it creates more contrast
in color. The light colors are brightened, almost whitened, and dark colors, such as black in
outlines or the mother s cloth, are far more darkened. The color contrast becomes more obvious and

The Central Value Connecting Mrs. Dalloway And The Hours
The central value connecting Mrs Dalloway and The Hours is an affirmation of life. Although
suicides feature in both Stephen Daldry s film and Virginia Woolf s novel both texts echo Woolf
s words from her 1922 diary: I meant to write about death, only life came breaking in as usual.
Both Woolf s modernist 1925 novel and Daldry s 2002 postmodernist film focus on women whose
rich inner lives are juxtaposed with their outer lives constrained by the contexts in which they live.
The characters are placed in their respective context, to reflect on, or respond to, the consequences
of war and AIDS, the difficulties of personal relationships, class, gender and sexuality.
Mrs Dalloway seeks to narrate the inner life of characters in a single day, Wednesday, 13th June,
1923, while in The Hours, the action takes place within the span of a single day in three different
years, 1923, 1951 and 2001. It communicates 3 parallel narratives with the focus on three different
women, alternating between them throughout the film. In Mrs Dalloway, the chiming of both the
grand Big Ben and the gentler St Margaret s symbolise the significance of time in life, despite a
representation of time as mutable Big Ben, a warning...then the hour, irrevocable , reminding
Clarissa of mortality, while St Margaret s chimes in a little late, gliding into the recesses of the
heart and buries itself, to be, with a tremor of delight, at rest. Woolf seems to say a full life is one

Erikson s main contribution was to bridge the gap between the theories of psychoanalysis on the
problems of human development, which emphasize private emotions, and the broader social
influences that bear upon the individual. He was a strong proponent of the concept that social
environment plays a major role in the development of personality. Going beyond the of a child s
early life, Erikson concentrated on broader issues of peer culture, school environment, and
cultural values and ideals. This led him to study the period of adolescence, in which he
documented the interaction of a person s inner feelings and impulses with the world that
surrounds the person. Erikson developed eight stages of human development. Briefly I would

Identifying The Title Shift Leaders As Exempt Essay
Classifying the Title Shift Leaders as Exempt Classifying the title, shift leader as exempt is more
complicated than it seems. A journalist for the Chicago Tribune, Rex Huppke (2012) says, There

of her brothers and sisters while her parents work; Ana Delgado, is pressured to drop out of
school to begin working in her family business; Claudia Camejo; is discouraged to pursue
Calculus by her mother because boys don t like you if you re too smart ; and Pancho is
encouraged to drop out of school to work as a mechanic for what he believes is a reasonable
wage. The AP Calculus gives the students hope to enter college, evidenced by a scene in which
Angel brings his sick grandma to Mr. Escalante s house on Christmas to ask him for another
chance to be in the class. He tells Mr. Escalante, I need Calculus to get me to a good career
Johnny. The film uses a variety of examples of adversity in attempt to make this story seem more
inspirational but the characters in this film are not given more personal characteristics and simply
identifiable by their struggles. The audience does not know about their likes or dislikes, or a lot
about their personalities. They are a diverse Latino cast but their usage as people that just need to
be saved does not give these

The assassination occurred on 28th June, 1914. The Archduke and his wife, Sophie, were
travelling in an open top car to a reception at the city hall. The Black Hand, a group of Serbian
nationalists, had previously attempted at assassinating Ferdinand, but failed. This second attempt
was unplanned and a coincidence. Gavrilo Princip happen to be waiting outside of the store he had
just eaten from when he saw the Archduke. He fired two shots killing each almost instantly. One
hit Sophie and the other, Ferdinand. (Eyewitnesstohistory.com, 2014) The Archduke was a target
by Serbia and the Back Hand because he was seen as the main obstacle in getting independence
and running the government. This went for all 12 cultural groups at this time. This assassination
was an event which was in the lead up to the beginning of world war one, four weeks later. These
deaths caused horror but it wasn t an international catastrophe. It was really Austria which sparked
an international catastrophe by sending Serbia an ultimatum. Austria Hungary were looking for any
reason to start a war on Serbia. They wanted to damaged Serbia and boast, believing that they

Black Death, it was brought to Europe in the 1340 s by ships returning from the eastern side of the
world. However, most of the men on the ships were already dead or nearly dead, sick with the
terrible virus. Although the Black Deathis very lethal and difficult to survive, they have now found
ways to prevent the virus from infecting anyone else. To start off, the cause of this epidemic, it
was given to the people of Europe by flea infested rats and mice. The rats and mice had a disease

Levi s Versus Lee
INTRODUCTION:
Both the Levi and Lee brands are pioneers when it comes to denim. Both brands began in the 17th

Levi Strauss and Company is one of the largest brand name manufacturers in the world. The
company itself was founded by Levi Strauss, a Bavarian immigrant to the United States. During
the gold rush era, Strauss began to produce trousers sewn from tent canvas to meet the needs of his
minor and labourer customers who were looking for clothing that could withstand the strain of the
work that they undertook. By the 1870 s, the pants were being produced out of denim, after finding

Persuasive Essay On Overpopulation
There are many issues today that pose a threat to our way of life. Overpopulation is a serious
problem that will eventually have an extremely negative effect on our countries, and our planet.
The problems that arise due to overpopulation could even prove to a fatal epidemic that will
eventually wipeout the entire human race. Oftentimes this issue is overlooked due to lack of
knowledge and understanding of the subject; or, simply because most of us are so blessed that we
are not affected first hand by the problems it is causing this very second. Overpopulation, in my
belief, is an enormously serious global issue that should be identified, analyzed, and controlled
immediately. The term overpopulation literally means that the number of things (in this case:
humans) that depend on resources for survival is significantly larger than the amount of resources
available to them. Today our planet is experiencing the effects of multiplying citizens because of
the obstacles the environment is being forced to take on. Many believe that Earth is presently
occupied by too many people. Year after year the populationmultiplies faster and faster. Presently,
there are about 7 billion people occupying this planet, and by the middle of the approaching
century the U.N. predicts that the count will reach 9.4 billion. Both developed and developing
countries are at risk of the dangerous problems that overpopulation can and will create. This relates

I sat there for the longest time. No one spoke, or if they did, I certainly wasn t listening. I mulled
over everything I had thought about him. The way we spoke with each other. How I felt when I
was with him. Everything pointed back to one answer, but it only made me depressed.
I really liked Ciel.
Alice? someone asked. I snapped out of my daze. I d know that voice anywhere.
I turned in my chair and smiled, Ciel! I got up and hugged him tightly. He seemed a bit awkward
about it, but wrapped his arms around me.
When I pulled away, I was full of concern, Are you okay? Did you get hurt? I m so sorry, Ciel! I... I
didn t know how to help you.
It s fine. We re back together now, right? That s what matters, he said. I nodded in agreement. I
was a little surprised he was brushing it off so easily. With anyone else, he would have chewed
them out for it. I was grateful for the reaction, of course, but considering the recent revelation, my
thoughts drifted to reasons of the change.
There is no more room, March Hare told Ciel.
Yes, no more room at all, Hatter joked. He gave me a knowing smile. He knew that I had figured
it out. If I hadn t, I wouldn t have hugged Ciel. I averted my eyes, angry for him being right at all.
He had just made things a zillion times harder because of pointing out that little fact. I really hadn t
needed it.
Come, don t say that. Have a seat, Dormouse talked in his sleep.
I haven t said anything, yet, Ciel pointed out.

Capstone Draft Everyday people suffer from from small things in their appearance that they find
to be imperfections, such as something like a mole or a cleft lip that can leave them feeling
uncomfortable and with a bad perception of their image. Many people turn to cosmetic surgery in
order to change the way they look and feel more confident with their new characteristics. Cosmetic
surgery is something that can change the way people feel by empowering their image and
boosting self esteem because it allows them to correct what they deem to be physical deformities
and abnormalities, therefore it should not be considered elective surgery by health insurance
companies as it helps their mental health. When people undergo cosmetic surgery, they tend to be
happy with their results and feel better psychologically than they ever have before, In a mass
research of 37 different cosmetic surgery studies, doctors found that patients were generally
satisfied with their procedures and that many of them suffered from mental health issues. One

The No Chiuld Left Behind Act Essay
Change is inevitable. When the No Child Left Behind (NCLB) initiative finally became defunct, a
new accountability system emerged. In San Francisco Unified School District, central
administrative teams began a transition phase starting as early as four to five years ago when
Common Core State Standards were introduced to low performing schools. As the Instructional
Reform Facilitator during that time, it was exciting because new and more robust learning/content
standards also required a change in our approach to instruction and assessment. This was the lever
in my mind that this could help close the achievement gap. However this new initiative also brings
uncertainty and apprehension for many teachers. When I began my first year as... Show more

My theory of action was if I help teachers build instructional capacity by developing and improving
their backwards planning or curriculum mapping (identifying essential standards) and enhance their
data analysis approach, will they make a shift from following a script to making effective
instructional decisions based on the specific needs of students. My strategic actions were to plan
and design professional development opportunities that would enhance the teachers instructional
practices and differentiate my support for them through professional learning communities,
informal walkthroughs, and formal evaluation processes. During one of our professional
development days in the week before school started, we spent an entire day reviewing the
curriculum mapping process and began identifying the most essential standards and learning
outcomes for students. One subtle indicator was that only two teachers demonstrated understanding
about the importance of using assessment results to plan their first two weeks of lessons. One
suggested that they would begin with a writing prompt to determine where students were in their
narrative writing, and the other expressed the urgency to administer the reading assessment so that
she could put her students in reading groups. Eighty percent of our staff were either longing for the

Analysis Of Concord, By Jakob Andreae And Martin Chemnitz
The book of Concord, or Concordia , lays out the beliefs and theology of the Lutheran Church. It
was officially put together as of 1580, or late 16th century in order to put a stop to religious
controversy after the death of Martin Luther in 1546. This book was written by a group of
theologians led by Jakob Andreae and Martin Chemnitz. This book was intended to grasp all of the
prefaced doctrines and beliefs and to put together the Lutheran Church as we know it today. It opens
with a preface, and then goes into three past creeds that establish what a Christian is, then followed
by the Ausburg Confession, Which is the literal written out beliefs of The Lutheran Church.
Inside of the Ausburg confession, there are 28 articles, including a preface and a conclusion,
though only the first 21 are actual chief articles of faith, the other 7 speak of abuses of power.
Article 1 is about how the Lutheran church sees God as a whole, believing in the Triune God and
reject other interpretations regarding the nature of God.
Article 2 speaks of sin, how since the fall of Adam, all men (and women) are born into sin without
the fear of God, without trust in God and with strong desires to please oneself, and that even now
we are dead to sin, unless saved through being born again through babtism and the Holy Ghost.
Article 3 speaks on their beliefs in Jesus, or the Son of God. They believe that the Word did assume
human nature in the womb of Mother Mary, but also kept his divine holiness,

Lumbar Vertebral Column, An Amazing Part Of The Human Body
Lumbar Vertebral Fracture
The Vertebral column is an amazing part of the human body. It is made up of many different
pieces that all fit together to make something that keeps the body up right, allows movement,
supports weight and protects the spinal cord. There are four different segments of the spinal cord.
One of those segments is called the lumbar region. The lumbar region consists of 5 vertebrae that
make up the lower back (Lippert, 2011). The lumbar region supports most of the body weight and
allows movement. People often do not realize how important the vertebral column is until it is
already injured. Injury to the lumbar region can be caused from a vertebral fracture and can be
very painful to ones lower back.
Etiology
Lumbar Vertebral Fractures, also known as a compression fractures are caused from a variety of
reasons. Some of the causes can be from high impact trauma or diseases. Some vertebral fractures
are causes by high impact trauma occurring in motor vehicle accidents, long distance falls and
sports injuries. The diseases that can cause compression fractures are osteoporosis and spinal
tumors. Compression fractures can occur from bone insufficiency as well as falls, lifting and trunk
motions, such as flexion, extension, lateral bending and rotation (American Academy of
Orthopedic Surgeons [AAOS], 2015). Osteoporosis is the main cause of compression fractures.
Depending on the severity of the fracture signs and symptoms include severe lower back pain,

Film Autuerism Essay
Film Autuerism Auteurism is a term first coined by Francois Truffaut to describe the mark of a
film director on his films. A director can be considered an auteur if about five of his film depict a
certain style that is definitely his own. In other words, much like one can look at a painting and
tell if it is a Monet, a Renoir, or a Degas, if a film director is an auteur, one can look at his film and
tell by style and recurring themesthat it was made by a certain director. In auteur films, the director
is many times what brings an audience to the theater, instead of the actors or storyline. I am going
to take a look at three of the most noted auteurs: Frederico Fellini, Satyajit Ray, and Alfred
Hitchcock.
I watched five of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In all of the films, the husband and wife have difficulty communicating with each other. One
scene in City of Women visually shows this with multiple barriers: physical (a column and
doorway), spatial (the characters are on opposite sides of the screen) and social (a crown with
turned backs). In Juliet of the Spirits, Julieta is the superwife. She plays all of the above stated
roles, and also it is apparent that she has her own interior life. This is shown by the use of mirrors
and reflections within reflections.
The final character archetype that I noticed in Fellini s films is the macho man. This is probably
best illustrated in the harem sequence in 8 1/2. In this the main character imagines himself as the
master of all women he has ever desired, real or fantasized. In City of Women the doctor is the
idealized male stereotype who now has to deal with women s increasing independence. I do not
think that this character was as effective, however, in showing this archetype as much as the harem
sequence did. In La Strada the male character is kept a prisoner by these male virtues he cannot
communicate his own feelings.
Fellini definitely has many trademarks, but I chose these to write about because they are the least
remarked upon. But, surely when one watches any Fellini film, there is a definite look and feel to
the movie, making Fellini a true auteur.
The next auteur that I studied

Since the beginning of the 1990s, Japan has experienced significant declines in household net
savings rates. The 90 s was a decade of slow growth, and households devoted a large portion of
their incomes to maintaining consumption levels. Large amounts of liquid savings in postal
savings accounts and in banks meant the majority of the population did not feel they had to
increase saving in order to rebuild assets. (Feldstein, 2010)
A number of factors contributed to this decline in the savings rate. One such factor is that
demographic structure is changing rapidly. There is an increasing number of retirees relative to the
people within the labour force. The people in the labour ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Japan s public pension system can be divided into the Employees Pension System, the Mutual Aid
Association Pension System and the National Pension System. Pensions can alliveate many
financial worries that people in the workforce may experience into the future and problems a
retiree is experiencing currently. This creates a situation where there is less of a reason to save and
hence declines in savings rates occur.
Real incomes for workers experienced slow growth from the beginning of the 1990 s to the
present day in Japan. This has impacted savings rate as a large portion of the population do not
have the finances to save effectively. This would account for low consumer spending regardless of
the low saving rates. Reductions in labour productivity and issues with corporate competitiveness
are two main factors behind this reduction in real incomes.

The limbic system starts at the onset of puberty and with it starting at an earlier age today the gap between when the limbic system matures and the prefrontal cortex matures is getting larger making the window for risky behavior longer than it was before. Since adolescent brain has the ability to change in response to the environment by modifying the communications networks that connect brain regions, those changes make them vulnerable to dangerous behaviors and mental disorders. The increase in connectivity among brain regions is indicated as greater volumes of white matter from childhood through adulthood. Which is the fatty ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

No, I did not know her personally but I had the thought that, that could have been me. On July 13, 2015 social media, the news and the internet were booming with information about the death of Sandra Bland. Sandra Bland was arrested on July 10, 2015 for a minor traffic violation in Hempstead, Texas while she was on the way to accept her new job at Prairie View A M. Three days later Bland was found hanged in her jail cell in Waller County, Texas. The county coroner classified her death as a suicide, although many believe that she was murdered by one of the officers. Until this day we still question, What really happened to Sandra Bland? This incident has affected not only me but others as well.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Sandra had no cameras inside of her cell. A camera outside her cell recorded no movement in the hallway for 90 minutes before guards found her dead. The autopsy states that she committed suicide and that there was no sign of struggle. Sandra s family had no reason to believe that she would take her own life. They claimed that she was well grounded and had always been. Sandra Bland was taking a new job at Prairie View A M University in Texas. She had graduated from Prairie View A M in 2009 and was returning there as a student ambassador. So why would this woman who had just gotten a great job offer take her own life? As time passed during her investigation, things just were not adding up. The video from inside Waller County jail from the camera outside of her cell had been released. The video that was released for the press and for the world to see did not show anyone going into Sandra s cell. Now studies state that video was edited. • 5. Critical Appreciation Of John Keats British Romantic Literature Assignment (Semester IV) Nayan Srivastava (1116) Keats s Escape from Reality John Keats, a second generation Romantic poet, is considered the perfect Romantic poet. His works have been read, appreciated and studied across the world, though this was not done during his lifetime. Only in the twentieth century did Keats get due credit and respect for the complexity of his odes, his pursuit of truth and beauty and dealing with human difficulty and suffering. The Romantic poets, as a whole, strived for perfection. Romanticism grew as an opposition to the Enlightenment Age or the Age of Reason and as a result the poets focused on emotion, motives and imagination. Keats is known for his aestheticism, sensuousness and captivating imagery in his works. On analysis of his ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This ode is the simplest of all his odes and describes the scenes of autumn as a season of abundance. It has a mellow tone and this ode picks up where all the others left off. The simple and sincere appreciation of the season and its reflections in nature as well as the calm acceptance of the upcoming winter project Keats as an evolved individual. Even though a season too is transient in nature, he is inspired in its fleeting beauty and does not yearn permanence as in Ode on a Grecian Urn . Keats preoccupation with mortality and death as in Ode to A Nightingale , too simmers down in this work. The wafting wind is described as living or dying, and the use of these words emphasize an acceptance on his behalf about the natural inevitability of this process. Winter is viewed as a season of absolute decay when everything freezes, and hence To Autumn can be seen as a period prior to the death when one begins to accept one s fate and does not fear death anymore. This ode essentially provides a serene and tranquil closure to all the other odes that preceded this and places Keats in a more stable position in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Figure 3.6: Implementation of 8x8 Modified Booth Multiplier with HPM Reduction Method [4] The Figure.3.6 shows the implementation 8x8 modified booth multiplier using High Performance Multiplier (HPM) reduction method [4]. The modified booth algorithm is a predominant high performance multiplier which has low number of partial products row. The generation of these partial products is quite complex to implement in hardware. So in this work has used a straight forward way of implementing a Signed and Unsigned Multiplication using Baugh Wooley Algorithm with HPM reduction tree method. Baugh Wooley Multiplier with HPM reduction tree is discussed in Chapter Six. CHAPTER FOUR: LOW POWER DESIGN 4.1 Introduction: In earlier stages of VLSI circuit design the emphasis is on Area and Speed optimization giving concerns to Packaging and Efficient designing. As the technology scales down according to predictions of Moor s Law, it is advent that the CMOS dimensions have been scaled down drastically. But due to increase in use of Portable Devices Such as Cellphones, Laptops, Personal Health Monitoring systems, there has been a demand of higher battery life for Portable devices. Whereas big data centers which contains large set of circuits consumes tremendous power and dissipates large amount of heat which incurs huge cost to maintain. The solution for these problems is to design circuits which consume low power which give rise to the concept of Low Power VLSI designing. As this ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 8. Argumentative Essay On Net Neutrality Net Neutrality is a widely debated topic that comes with not only great support but also logical opposition. While looking at net neutrality you must consider several ideas that impact the topic. Before looking at any ideas though, you must first understand what net neutrality is. First, it is an abbreviation of network neutralitywhich is the idea, principle, or requirement that Internet service providers should or must treat all Internet data as the same regardless of its kind, source, or destination as stated by the Merriam Webster Dictionary. A few of those ideas previously mentioned are how will the consumers, economy, internet service providers, content providers, and others be impacted by having net neutrality or taking away net neutrality. Appealing net neutrality and how it would occur is another very large topic. How difficult that would be is very important. Net neutrality is a subject that has so many influential factors that it is hard to come to a single right answer, and that is why the thorough research of this issue is so greatly needed. Net Neutrality is an argument that has been highly debated for years, but in the past several months it has come back contentious as ever. Evidence also has shown that a big part of illnesses is linked to stress, which can result in onset chronic pain. So what causes stress and how can it be managed? We can find the answer by examining Dr Jane Ogden book The psychology of health and illness and a study that highlight the effects of psychological moderators, and the use of blogging to combat chronic painand stress. Ogden books regards stress as an transaction between people and the environment that involves biochemical, physiological, behavioral and psychological changes. (Ogden, 2017). It has to do with the way a person response to different events and situations that comes up. Stress can cause illness directly ( physical changes) or indirectly ( behavioral changes). The impact of stress on illness illustrates a further role for psychological factors as it is moderated by coping, social support, personality and control. Psychological factors also influence whether stress translates into illness. Psychological moderators are in itself tools to help in the reduction of stress and can tremendously affect health outcomes. To better interpret what stress is, and how manage it these moderators, according to Dr Ogden comes in the form of Coping, social support, personality, and control. Specifically, how blogging is a form of social support that can help in reducing stress. Social support is the of perceived ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

A FRAMEWORK FOR EPBT CALCULATION OF ROOF MOUNTED PHOTOVOLTAIC SYSTEMS Introduction Currently, most of the world s energy is derived from fossil fuels (World Energy Resources 2013 Survey). Fossil fuels are a limited resource and might not be able to meet the future energy requirements of the world for too long (Shafiee and Topal 2009). Apart from being non renewable, these are also significant contributors of greenhouse gases to the environment leading to air, water and land pollution (Marland and Rotty 1984). Due to the nature of these resources there is an urgent need to conserve these resources. It is also important to explore alternative energy sources for the future. To this end, multiple solutions have been proposed. One of the most ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It can be anywhere in between 3 years to 30 years or even more depending on a multitude of factors. Energy pay back time (EPBT): The Energy Pay Back Time is defined by EPBT = Einput/Esaved, where Einput is the energy input during the module life cycle (which includes the energy required for manufacturing, installation, energy use during operation, and energy needed for decommissioning) and Esaved the annual energy savings due to electricity generated by the PV module. EPBT depends on a number of factors: cell technology, type of encapsulation, frame and array support, module size efficiency, PV system application type (autonomous or grid connected) and, finally, PV system performance as determined by irradiation and the performance ratio. EPBT is also affected by factors that do not directly relate to the characteristics of the PV power system itself: conversion efficiency of the electricity supply system and energy requirements of materials like glass, aluminum etc. (Alsema 2000) In order to determine the EPBT of a photovoltaic system, it is very important to determine the total energy that is required to manufacture, install, transport and dispose the system as well as energy required for any other purpose during the life cycle of the system. A typical PV system consists of different components. The components of a PV system can be classified into two categories: 1.The Panel: This consists of the panel 2.Balance of system (BOS): ... According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics Report 58.6% of women make up the labor force, 50.2% have multiple jobs, and 75.4% of single mothers are in the labor force. Women in the southern slaveholding states continued to be denied these basic human rights. Despite her pivotal role in the narrative however, she is a victim of women s usage in literature in the most literal sense. She is a prostitute, being used and abused by men every night for the sake of bringing in money for her abrasive family. Sonia is viewed in the lowest regard by most, and is particularly by her stepmother. Literary tropes aside, Sonia s personality does not benefit at all from her nightwork. While some might take the job of prostitution and use it to harden themselves from emotional pain, Sonia s tender nature makes her more susceptible to the night by night terror that she faces. • 18. Alka-Seltzer After adding distilled water, alka seltzer began bubbling extensively, as the two substances react and form CO2(g) and a buffer. Sodium bicarbonate also bubbled mildly, as it reacts with water to form carbonic acid, which then breaks into CO2(g). Aspirin, Alka seltzer, and Tylenol showed up acidic from the Universal indicator, whereas sodium bicarbonate and the unknown were blue and basic. This is because sodium is a non reactive ion, as it is part of NaOH, a strong base, where as bicarbonate attaches to H+ ions to form carbonic acid, thus increasing OH concentration and pH. On the other hand, Aspirin, or acetylsalicylic acid, forms salicylic acid and acetic acid, lowering pH. Alka seltzer also showed up as acidic because it contains aspirin. ... During chromatography, our spot sizes were initially very varied, as we didn t know exactly how much of each substance to place when we began. Thus, the substances in more abundance would have greater opportunity to travel up with the eluent, skewing the results. In the beginning, we even put 6 7 drops, causing some of the substances to mix together. Touching the TLC plate may also have disrupted some of the substances traveling up. Improvements and Adjustments If we were to repeat this lab, we would make sure to ensure the equipment was clean and the substances were not contaminated before proceeding. For chromatography, we would only put one drop from the micro pipettes onto the TLC plate, instead of the 6 we started out with initially. This would allow the substances to stay separate, and our results would be more accurate. On Defoe s Roxana. vol. 51, no. 4, 1984, pp. 669 691 Looking at the framework of Defoe s previous novels, Maddox demonstrates how although Roxana follows a similar pattern of other characters, her outcome is drastically different. In former novels, when faced with a moment of devastation, the character divided from their previous self, and in turn gained control. From there, the character is faced with yet another unfavorable situation, but this time they are able to overcome it in their new powerful state. On the contrary, Roxana divided from her previous self, but still faced destruction and tragedy in the end. Maddox also examines closely the relationship between Roxana and Amy, and how their characters follow this... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, after the appearance of Susan, Roxana becomes increasingly more secretive and closed off from her audience. Molesworth makes the argument that since the abandonment of her first husband, Roxana is unable to trust anyone. As a result of this, all of her relationships will ultimately fail whether it be with potential lovers, her children, longtime friend, and even the audience. Molesworth also shows how Roxana s detachment goes as far as to reduce her children to genderless and nameless individuals, referring to them as simply it. Snow, Malinda. Arguments to the Self in Defoe s Roxana. Studies in English Literature, 1500 1900, vol. 34, no. 3, 1994, pp. 523 536. Snow indicates within her argument that Roxana is one of Defoe s darkest novels, by means that his character is unable to go through the transformation from sinful to righteous. Rather, the line between her past and present self has never been crossed. Along with this concept, Snow illustrate how Roxana is a peculiar character since she debates with herself about what she should do next, and predicts possible outcomes of the path she will take. In this manner, Roxana is incredibly self aware and is able to reason with her actions in a way that is uncommon for individuals at the time. This realization of the self that she possesses is attributed to the way that she both justifies her actions, and denies herself the right to be saved. Westfall, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

A City In Winter And A Complicated Kindness Analysis The Necessity of Sacrifice in the Lives of the Innocent The innocence of youth is often romanticized as being has days filled with laughter and energy; it is oblivious of the stress and responsibilities of this world. In such a picturesque world, however, it becomes easy to forget the many limitations of youth:. nNo right to vote, to make decisions, to own property or to even stay up past a specified bedtime. The idyllic life of a child is easily disagreeable to those youth who want know what they want; to those youth with great aspirations. Many children both real and in fictional literature experience great struggles while trying to achieve goals by their own accord. Western North American authors Mark Helprin and Miriam Toews effectively portrayed this plight of a willful child in their novels A City in Winter and A Complicated Kindnessrespectively. Mark Helprin s A City in Winter is the tale of an extraordinary young girl reclaiming her kingdom. Yet even with her wit, charm and innocence, her progression is ultimately unsuccessful until her surrogate father swoops in quite literally to save the day knowing it is at the expense of his life. Likewise, Miriam Toews A Complicated Kindness is about a young girl who knows exactly what she wants, but lacks the moral strength and maturity to obtain it. Her father, who is both morally strong and mature, must eventually sacrifice his comfortable way of life for his daughter. In both novels the girls lack power due to ... Although suicides feature in both Stephen Daldry s film and Virginia Woolf s novel both texts echo Woolf s words from her 1922 diary: I meant to write about death, only life came breaking in as usual. Both Woolf s modernist 1925 novel and Daldry s 2002 postmodernist film focus on women whose rich inner lives are juxtaposed with their outer lives constrained by the contexts in which they live. The characters are placed in their respective context, to reflect on, or respond to, the consequences of war and AIDS, the difficulties of personal relationships, class, gender and sexuality. Mrs Dalloway seeks to narrate the inner life of characters in a single day, Wednesday, 13th June, 1923, while in The Hours, the action takes place within the span of a single day in three different years, 1923, 1951 and 2001. It communicates 3 parallel narratives with the focus on three different women, alternating between them throughout the film. In Mrs Dalloway, the chiming of both the grand Big Ben and the gentler St Margaret s symbolise the significance of time in life, despite a representation of time as mutable Big Ben, a warning...then the hour, irrevocable , reminding Clarissa of mortality, while St Margaret s chimes in a little late, gliding into the recesses of the heart and buries itself, to be, with a tremor of delight, at rest. Woolf seems to say a full life is one that accepts the moment is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Going beyond the of a child s early life, Erikson concentrated on broader issues of peer culture, school environment, and cultural values and ideals. This led him to study the period of adolescence, in which he documented the interaction of a person s inner feelings and impulses with the world that surrounds the person. Erikson developed eight stages of human development. Briefly I would describe all eight my I will concentrate on stages five and six which are adolescence and young adulthood. Myer describes the stages in the following manner. • 44. Persuasive Essay On Overpopulation There are many issues today that pose a threat to our way of life. Overpopulation is a serious problem that will eventually have an extremely negative effect on our countries, and our planet. The problems that arise due to overpopulation could even prove to a fatal epidemic that will eventually wipeout the entire human race. Oftentimes this issue is overlooked due to lack of knowledge and understanding of the subject; or, simply because most of us are so blessed that we are not affected first hand by the problems it is causing this very second. Overpopulation, in my belief, is an enormously serious global issue that should be identified, analyzed, and controlled immediately. The term overpopulation literally means that the number of things (in this case: humans) that depend on resources for survival is significantly larger than the amount of resources available to them. Today our planet is experiencing the effects of multiplying citizens because of the obstacles the environment is being forced to take on. Many believe that Earth is presently occupied by too many people. Year after year the populationmultiplies faster and faster. Presently, there are about 7 billion people occupying this planet, and by the middle of the approaching century the U.N. predicts that the count will reach 9.4 billion. It is made up of many different pieces that all fit together to make something that keeps the body up right, allows movement, supports weight and protects the spinal cord. There are four different segments of the spinal cord. One of those segments is called the lumbar region. The lumbar region consists of 5 vertebrae that make up the lower back (Lippert, 2011). The lumbar region supports most of the body weight and allows movement. People often do not realize how important the vertebral column is until it is already injured. In all of the films, the husband and wife have difficulty communicating with each other. One scene in City of Women visually shows this with multiple barriers: physical (a column and doorway), spatial (the characters are on opposite sides of the screen) and social (a crown with turned backs). In Juliet of the Spirits, Julieta is the superwife. She plays all of the above stated roles, and also it is apparent that she has her own interior life. This is shown by the use of mirrors and reflections within reflections. The final character archetype that I noticed in Fellini s films is the macho man. This is probably best illustrated in the harem sequence in 8 1/2. In this the main character imagines himself as the master of all women he has ever desired, real or fantasized. In City of Women the doctor is the idealized male stereotype who now has to deal with women s increasing independence. I do not think that this character was as effective, however, in showing this archetype as much as the harem sequence did. In La Strada the male character is kept a prisoner by these male virtues he cannot communicate his own feelings.
