Xavier Ochoa discusses openness as a tool for innovation in education. Open educational resources like textbooks, massive online courses, and learning analytics are not only solutions to educate populations in the 21st century, but are the only scalable, sustainable, viable, effective and efficient solutions. Some examples of open resources are provided. Openness allows for experimenting with new models to solve real problems in Latin American education by providing free and locally relevant learning materials through collaborative and open community efforts.
