Motivation is key to learner success and comes in various forms: external, introjected, identified, and intrinsic. In problem-based learning groups, all four types of motivation have been actively engaged. Collaboration is an important aspect of online learning, and continuous feedback from both teachers and peers on individual and group levels in a rapid and ongoing manner can help satisfy different student needs and focus on strengths to facilitate feelings of success and motivation. A supportive infrastructure can also help motivate learners with disabilities.
