Comprehensive review on solar, wind and hybrid wind pv water pumping systems-...Asoka Technologies
In India, the demand for water is continuously increasing due to the growing population. Approximately 16.5% of all country’s electricity used to pump this water is from fossil fuels leading to increased pump Life Cycle Cost (LCC) and Green House Gas (GHG) emissions. With the recent advancement in power electronics and drives, renewables like solar photovoltaic and wind energy are becoming readily available for water pumping applications resulting in the reduction of GHG emissions. Recently, research towards AC motor based Water Pumping Systems (WPS) has received a great emphasis owing to its numerous merits. Further, considering the tremendous acceptance of renewable sources, especially solar and wind, this paper provides a detailed review of single-stage and multi-stage WPS consisting of renewable source powered AC motors. The critical review is performed based on the following figure of merits, including the type of motor, power electronics interface and associated control strategies. Also, to add to the reliability of solar PV WPS, hybrid Wind-PV WPS will be discussed in detail. Readers will be presented with the state-of-the-art technology and research directions in Renewable Energy-based WPS (REWPS) to improve the overall system efficiency and hence reduce the payback period.

Optimal Planning of an Off-grid Electricity Generation with Renewable Energy ...IAES-IJPEDS
In recent years, several factors such as environmental pollution which is caused by fossil fuels and various diseases caused by them from one hand and concerns about the dwindling fossil fuels and price fluctuation of the products and resulting effects of these fluctuations in the economy from other hand has led most countries to seek alternative energy sources for fossil fuel supplies. Such a way that in 2006, about 18% of the consumed energy of the world is obtained through renewable energies. Iran is among the countries that are geographically located in hot and dry areas and has the most sun exposure in different months of the year. Except in the coasts of Caspian Sea, the percentage of sunny days throughout the year is between 63 to 98 percent in Iran. On the other hand, there are dispersed and remote areas and loads far from national grid which is impossible to provide electrical energy for them through transmission from national grid, therefore, for such cases the renewable energy technologies could be used to solve the problem and provide the energy. In this paper, technical and economic feasibility for the use of renewable energies for independent systems of the grid for a dispersed load in the area on the outskirts of Isfahan (Sepahan) with the maximum energy consumption of 3Kwh in a day is studied and presented. In addition, the HOMER simulation software is used as the optimization tool.

The Development of an Application Conceived for the Design, Feasibility Study...IJECEIAES
Because of the rise in diesel and butane prices widely used for pumping, added to their negative impact on both Morocco's environment and trade balance, the use of renewable energies should sound obvious, practical and cost effective. This study offers the transformation of a traditional butane pumping system (BPS) and diesel pumping system (DPS), located on a farm nearby the city of Agadir, into an optimized solar pumping system (SPS). The suggested method is based on a techno-economic study according to the “Business-As-usual” scenario. As a first step, we have dimensioned our pumping system and chosen the elements that constitute it. As a second step, we carried out an economic analysis, based on the calculation of all costs, which makes it possible to ensure the viability of the components of our SPS over its life cycle and brought it to a discounted value. The processing of the different data is made possible thanks to the computer application “PVDesign” which we have developed. This application has allowed us to carry out a comparative study of several techniques of pumping systems. The result of the study is that the SPS beats the other systems at various levels, namely economic, environmental and technical.

Hybrid energy applications based on renewable energy sources are becoming more and more desirable every day. They have increased the economic attractiveness of renewable electric energy generation. Because of the sudden fluctuations of the load requirements, the main attribute of such Hybrid Systems is to be able to generate energy at any time by optimally using each source. In this article, we have proposed a combination between a sizing study and a control one for the aim of solving the complex optimization problem of finding the optimal combination of size and storage to make the best use of the renewable power generations and to become more independent of rising electricity costs. Additionally, an improvement in the induced optimization algorithm is introduced in this paper so as to compute the optimal size and the operation control of the system with the aim of minimizing as much as possible the cost while responding to the load energy requirements taking into account the environmental factors.
PVPF tool: an automated web application for real-time photovoltaic power fore...IJECEIAES
In this paper, we propose a fully automated machine learning based forecasting system, called Photovoltaic Power Forecasting (PVPF) tool, that applies optimised neural networks algorithms to real-time weather data to provide 24 hours ahead forecasts for the power production of solar photovoltaic systems installed within the same region. This system imports the real-time temperature and global solar irradiance records from the ASU weather station and associates these records with the available solar PV production measurements to provide the proper inputs for the pre-trained machine learning system along with the records’ time with respect to the current year. The machine learning system was pre-trained and optimised based on the Bayesian Regularization (BR) algorithm, as described in our previous research, and used to predict the solar power PV production for the next 24 hours using weather data of the last five consecutive days. Hourly predictions are provided as a power/time curve and published in real-time at the website of the renewable energy center (REC) of Applied Science Private University (ASU). It is believed that the forecasts provided by the PVPF tool can be helpful for energy management and control systems and will be used widely for the future research activities at REC.

This study investigates the technical and cost-effective performance of options renewable energy sources to develop a green off-grid telecommunication tower to replace diesel generators in Malaysia. For this purpose, the solar, wind, pico-hydro energy, along with diesel generators, were examined to compare. In addition, the modeling of hybrid powering systems was conducted using hybrid optimization model for energy (HOMER) simulation based on techno-economic analysis to determine the optimal economically feasible system. The optimization findings showed that the hybrid high-efficiency fixed photovoltaic (PV) system with battery followed by 2 kW pico-hydropower and battery are the optimal configurations for powering off-grid telecommunication towers in Malaysia with the lowest net present cost (NPC) and cost of energy (COE). These costs of NPC and COE are more down than diesel generator costs with battery by 17.45%, 16.45%, 15.9%, and 15.5%, respectively. Furthermore, the economic evaluation of the high-efficiency solar fixed PV panels system annual cash flow compared to the diesel generator with the battery system indicated a ten-year payback period.

The need to model coupled energy networks to transition to a decarbonized futureLeonardo ENERGY
Webinar recording at https://youtu.be/2A-aVb6OHTE
The coordination between planners and operators of coupled energy systems will allow the further integration of renewable energy sources in the electricity network by storing energy in fuel form over long periods of time using power-to-gas, the recovery and more efficient use of heat, and the decarbonization of industrial processes and transportation modes that can’t be electrified. Energy networks, such as electricity grids and natural gas pipeline networks, have traditionally been planned and operated independently. In order to enhance the integration and coordination of different energy networks, they must be planned and operated in coupled ways. Different energy networks have historically been and are still modelled by different tools. In this presentation we will discuss the need model coupled energy systems in a single framework and we will introduce encoord’s Scenario Analysis Interface for Energy Systems (SAInt), a software application to model, plan, and operate coupled energy networks.

Reliability Constrained Unit Commitment Considering the Effect of DG and DR P...IJECEIAES
Due to increase in energy prices at peak periods and increase in fuel cost, involving Distributed Generation (DG) and consumption management by Demand Response (DR) will be unavoidable options for optimal system operations. Also, with high penetration of DGs and DR programs into power system operation, the reliability criterion is taken into account as one of the most important concerns of system operators in management of power system. In this paper, a Reliability Constrained Unit Commitment (RCUC) at presence of time-based DR program and DGs integrated with conventional units is proposed and executed to reach a reliable and economic operation. Designated cost function has been minimized considering reliability constraint in prevailing UC formulation. The UC scheduling is accomplished in short-term so that the reliability is maintained in acceptable level. Because of complex nature of RCUC problem and full AC load flow constraints, the hybrid algorithm included Simulated Annealing (SA) and Binary Particle Swarm Optimization (BPSO) has been proposed to optimize the problem. Numerical results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method and considerable efficacy of the time-based DR program in reducing operational costs by implementing it on IEEE-RTS79.

Abstract
This paper investigates the possibility of generating green power from day to day road
traffic. This source of green energy is obtained from the proposed systems that
harness the wasted energy such as the kinetic and vibrated energy from everyday
traffic. These include two proposed systems that were designed and implemented
using the MATLAB-Simulink platform. In the first proposed system, the renewable
energy is generated using compressed air which is suitable for developing countries
and the second proposed system is designed such way to another system to deduce
electricity by harvesting the kinetic and vibration energy. The second proposed system
is suitable for a developed country based on the implementation expenditures. The
system was designed considering all the factors that involved producing a realist
outcome. These factors include the load factor, heat loss, power loss, frictional losses
and the switching losses that dwell into the field of fluid mechanics, power electronics
and element analysis. The system performance was also determined by considering
the nature and characteristic properties of the materials, motors and generators used;
and the usage time of the system. As a result, incorporating the necessary factors
involved in the system designing, the power generated under traffic rate condition at
peak and off peak hours for each system was estimated. The obtained results proved
that substantial amount of power are generated during peak traffic hours using the two
proposed methods.
