The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) was established in 1969 to promote cooperation among Muslim-majority countries. It has 57 member states and is headquartered in Saudi Arabia. The OIC aims to enhance solidarity and protect shared Muslim interests globally. However, it has been criticized for its inability to resolve major crises affecting the Muslim world or improve economic cooperation among its members. While the OIC has coordinated humanitarian aid and adopted resolutions supporting Palestinian rights, it has largely failed to establish lasting peace or security across the Muslim world.
