This Week’s Highlights

Sight Word(s) to Practice:

big, small, have

Phonics

We will learn about the letter Aa and the short sound it makes
as in hat. Also, we will learn how to count the sounds in words
and identify the last sound we hear in a word. We will
continue to work on rhyming, vowels, consonants, and
compound words.

Homework – See back!
“Owl” Good in Miss Nixon’s Nest

Reading

We will read two poems titled “A Wolf and His Shadow” and
“My Shadow.” We will work on the comprehension skills of
predicting, asking questions to clarify our understanding, text
connections, comparing and contrasting, cause and effect, and
visualization.

As a student teacher, I am required to build up to
teaching full days in the classroom. For the past
week I have taken on teaching full days. I will be
teaching for full days now until Nov. 27th. I have
taken on full responsibility of Ms. Sinicropi at this
point.

Writing

We will learn how to sketch the best we can, how to put our
story into words, and how to start a new piece once we have
finished one.

SpecialNixon ~
~ Miss Notes

Math

We will learn how to play Bingo and start making our pattern
quilt. Also, we will continue working with numbers 1-10.

Science/Social Studies

We will learn about the concepts of past and present and what
things were and are like then and now. Also, we will learn
about a map and a globe to aid us in learning about our
country, our state, a neighborhood, community, and town.

Harvest Party!
We are still in need of people to supply the items of
peanuts & candy corn mix, cheese, salami, and cracker
tray, cider, cups, and forks for our party November 1 st! I
don’t want to double people up on items until I have to.
Let me know if you need a new sign up sheet.

Volunteer Opportunities









10:10-10:50am (T-F) – Writing Time – We could use
help keeping our voices down, staying on task, and
writing the sounds we hear.
11:35-11:45am (M-F) – We come in from lunch recess
and would love to have a guest reader!
12:15-12:30pm on (MWF) – Handwriting – We could
use a couple volunteers to help us make sure we are
taking our time and making letters correctly. It is nice
to be able to break the kids up into small groups and
spread them amongst a few adults.
12:30-1:15pm (M-F) – Work Stations – We could use
help keeping our noise level down, staying on task,
and even someone to lead a station or two.
2-2:40pm (M-F) – Snack/Show & Tell/Math Stations –
You are more than welcome to join us during this time
too!
