Here are some activities that you and your child
can do at home that will give them practice with
what we are learning at school. Feel free to move
the activities around to different days if you
wish.
 Monday – Ordering Numbers (see attached sheet)
 Tuesday – Practice writing the letters M and m,
while saying their sound. Discuss difference
between uppercase and lowercase.
 Wednesday – Reading the Calendar (see attached
sheet)
 Thursday – Clapping the Word (see attached
sheet)
 Friday – Look for punctuation in print and
discuss why the author used it. Is it a telling
sentence, a question, or an excited statement?
- If you notice your child having difficulty with
any of these activities, please keep practicing
them at home. It will help them greatly in
mastering that skill quicker.

Phonics
We will learn about the letter Mm and the sound
it makes. We will learn the sight word to and that
when we see twin consonants, as in the word hill,
we only pronounce one of them.
Reading
We will start a new unit called Finding Friends.
To get ourselves thinking about what it means to
be a friend, we will read two stories, Big Al and
Ginger. We will work on the different story
elements through them.
Writing
We will learn about punctuation and how we use
it. We like to call them sentence stoppers. 
Math
We will continue working with pennies, shapes,
and story problems.
Science/Social Studies
We will learn about different types of
communities and how they celebrate.
Special Notes
Veteran’s Day
We will be celebrating Veteran’s Day on
November 11th
. We encourage you to dress
your child in red, white, or blue uniform
attire that day. However, our program is the
following day, November 12th
, and we would
love to see your child in anything red, white,
and blue, as long as it is appropriate. The
night of the program, please make sure to
have your child in our classroom no later
than 5:45pm. The program starts at 6pm.
