This Week’s Highlights

Sight Word(s) to Practice:

he, she

Phonics

We will learn about the letter Pp and the sound it makes. Also,
we will continue to work on vowels, consonants, blending two
sounds together, identifying the blends heard, and listening for
specific sounds in words.

Reading

We will read a story titled Bear Shadow. It is about a bear that
tries many different things to get rid of his shadow. We will
work on the comprehension skills of predicting, asking
questions to clarify our understanding, text connections, and
retelling.

Writing

We will learn how to sketch pictures for our stories, how to
label them, and about nouns.

Homework – See back!
“Owl” Good in Miss Nixon’s Nest
What fun we had on the field trip! It’s exciting to see
all of the parents and guardians that took part in the
fun. I also love seeing how many volunteer parents
and guardians that are coming into the classroom.
As teachers, we really appreciate the extra hands
and helps! Thank you!

Math

We will learn how to make tally marks and continue using our
number racks to manipulate numbers.

Science/Social Studies

We will learn about saving and earning money. Also, we will
learn about things that we need, things that we want, and the
concepts of producers (people that make good) and consumers
(people that use goods).

Items Needed
We are in need of napkins and plastic cups.
Donations to our classroom will be greatly
appreciated! Thank you Mrs. Hanson for donating!
The supplies go so fast!

Volunteer Opportunities









10:10-10:50am (T-Th) – Writing Time – We could use
help keeping our voices down, staying on task, and
writing the sounds we hear.
11:35-11:45am (M-Th) – We come in from lunch recess
and would love to have a guest reader!
12:15-12:30pm on (MW) – Handwriting – We could use
a couple volunteers to help us make sure we are taking
our time and making letters correctly. It is nice to be
able to break the kids up into small groups and spread
them amongst a few adults.
12:30-1:15pm (M-Th) – Work Stations – We could use
help keeping our noise level down, staying on task,
and even someone to lead a station or two.
2-2:40pm (M-Th) – Snack/Show & Tell/Math Stations
– You are more than welcome to join us during this
time too!

two words and have
your child tell you if
they rhyme. Also, you
give them a word and
have them say a
rhyming word.

Practice identifying the
first sound you hear in
words. Ex. /g/ is the
first sound in goat.

Practice identifying,
ordering, and writing
the numbers 0-10.

Find things around your
house that are in the
shape of a hexagon!
Also, find things around
your house that are
purple!

Read an informational
story and discuss the
