Originality and Creativity
              campaign poster #2

                Name: Minju Kim 11R
Step #1

  Explanation What has been done…
I filled an A4 photoshop document background layer with the
colour #7b3c3c. This is the same background colour as my last
poster.

WHY?
I chose this colour because it reflects my colour scheme; and
embodies Crossroads Foundation. I did not choose to vary the
colour from my last poster as I think that having the same
background colour ties all the posters together, demonstrating
cohesiveness.
Step #2

  Explanation What has been done…
I created the same white strip at the bottom of my poster with
the Crossroads logo as my last poster. I also included the
crossroads url.

WHY?
I chose to include this white banner in this poster as well as the
last one as I feel that it is a good way of tying all the posters
together. It also gives me a space to place the crossroads logo, a
part of embodying crossroads in my posters. The call for action
‘support by volunteering at’ followed by the URL is effective
because it urges the audience to take action.
Step #3

  Explanation What has been done…
Inspired by the ‘Shelter’ poster in my Analysing Existing
Solutions powerpoint, I have decided to create a shape in
typography for my final product. Specifically, I have decided to
create a rice bowl, the words stating various facts about food
shortage in Hong Kong.

WHY?
I chose to recreate a rice bowl because as we are collecting
canned food to help the hungry, I thought it was a relevant and
effective shape to portray. I specifically made the words facts
about food shortage in Hong Kong, as I felt that as Crossroads
strives to help our local community, it will give more insight and
background into our cause for the audience.

WHAT have you learned from doing it?
I learnt that to achieve a smooth curve in text, you must use
the type in numerous separate layers.
Step #4

  Explanation What has been done…
To complete my shape typography design, I also designed a pair
of chopsticks besides the rice bowl, also made up of facts on
food shortage and hunger.

WHY?
I chose to create the shape of chopsticks to complete my
typographic design as I felt that the rice bowl by itself was too
simple and left the poster feeling empty. I thought that the
chopsticks were a nice touch as the two things often come
together in real life. I made the chopsticks of statistics on world
hunger, allowing the audience to view the wider problem on
food shortage, a cause we are trying to help through our food
drive.
Step #5

  Explanation What has been done…
I finished off the poster by adding a brief paragraph on
Crossroads. I used the fonts Futura and Helvetica Neue Light.

WHY?
I added the extra information at the bottom of the poster as I
felt that giving a little more background on Crossroads will have
a larger impact on the audience. I used Futura to emphasise the
‘crossroads’ and Helvetica Neue for the rest, similar to my last
poster.
