The combination of the main documentary and ancillary texts is effective because it creates a sense of synergy. Similar fonts, colors and images were used across all pieces to maintain a consistent feel of happiness and pride. This helps the audience get the same feeling from the advertisement or spread as they do from watching the documentary. While the newspaper ad uses black and white for practical reasons, the shared elements keep the synergy alive. The ancillary texts also help set the mood for the documentary by giving viewers a sense of the light-hearted and happy tone through images from the documentary.

3. Synergy
• I have used similar fonts, font colours and images in each task which creates a
sense of synergy. This is done to keep the same feel through each task which is a
sense of happiness and pride. This means that if the audience sees the
advertisement of reads the double-page spread they will get the same feeling
when watching the documentary.
• The fonts and colours have been the same with the exception of the black and
white on the newspaper advertisement. This keeps the idea of synergy alive and
makes it feel more professional. The only reason I didn’t keep the same colour
scheme on the advertisement is because it would not have suited the image.
• The images used are shots form the documentary and I feel this is important
because it already shows the audience what they will be viewing and what to
expect from the main show.

4. The Mood Created
• I feel that my use of synergy helps to create a light-hearted happy mood in all
three of my tasks.
• The ancillary tasks help to set up the mood for the documentary and give the
audience the chance to understand what they will be viewing and what the
philosophy is behind it. This of course is to be proud of what you are and to work
with what you have got.
• The images show Tom as a happy person and this gives the three tasks as a
package, a good feeling.
