This document discusses the progress and effectiveness of membrane technology in treating oily wastewater, highlighting various types of membranes including organic, inorganic, and biofilms. It reviews studies demonstrating the efficiency of materials such as polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) and polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) in reducing oil and suspended solids from wastewater. The findings suggest that while inorganic membranes show superior performance in oil removal, organic membranes are more cost-effective and easier to manufacture.
