Recently we moved and downsized from a large North American urban area to a smaller house in the country. We also downsized the infrastructure of our corporation. Thanks to Cloud, Social and Collaborative technologies, acquaintances in our new locale think we are retired and not working full time. In our area there is a high concentration of government and other traditional corporate workers – It’s not on their radar that one can work in a cabana on a beach, on a sailboat on a lake, a favorite pub or anywhere like that and still be in the office attending meetings, taking phone calls, being productive and doing it all efficiently. Not to mention the cost savings to be had for employees and employers. This is the Future of Work. For those of us in the IT world, working this way is taken for granted but now it’s time to share some of these “secrets” with those outside of the tech world.

For such a transformation you need more than training ‘how’ to use a tool, or even ‘why’ to use it. To effectively change or start behavior requires practice and we need to take small steps that are easy to do. Let’s take B.J. Fogg’s Behavior model and use it for a practical Tiny Habits program to change behavior. Let’s explore how to do a Tiny Habits program to ease employees into using a new platform.

According to Gallup’s survey on Employee Engagement > http://kcy.me/2bowf (2013), current levels of disengaged employees in most companies are reaching rather alarming % figures (i.e. 87%). Overworked, rather stressed, with more in their own plates than hours in the day while navigating through a rather complex, uncertain and fast speeding working environment, today’s average knowledge workers are barely reaping off the many benefits of working smarter, not necessarily harder, through social, collaborative and cognitive systems.
The challenge we are currently facing in most organizations today though is trying to figure out whether all of these emerging digital, cognitive technologies would be effective enough to help organisations re-humanise their respective knowledge workforces with a rather specific business purpose in mind: re-engage employees to reinstate that long time forgotten journey of delighting their clients. Climate impact / sustainability of software testing discussed on the talk. ICT and testing must carry their part of global responsibility to help with the climat warming. We can minimize the carbon footprint but we can also have a carbon handprint, a positive impact on the climate. Quality characteristics can be added with sustainability, and then measured continuously. Test environments can be used less, and in smaller scale and on demand. Test techniques can be used in optimizing or minimizing number of tests. Test automation can be used to speed up testing.

Spark is the widely used ETL tool for processing, indexing and ingesting data to serving stack for search. Milvus is the production-ready open-source vector database. È stata un membro attivo dei progetti Fedora e openSUSE e ha co-fondato l'Associazione LibreItalia dove è stata coinvolta in diversi eventi, migrazioni e formazione relativi a LibreOffice. Working in the cloud is not new • Started in the late 1990’s • It takes “practise” • What is the best way to communicate? • What is the best medium for each task? • When is IM best, when is email best and when is the best time to pick up the phone or even meet in person? • Technology has gotten better and more reliable • People are the “same”
