PrimeMC is a larger network known for their Skyblock. I was a Helper on the Skyblock section
for about 13 days. In that time, I did things like moderate chat, browse through forums, and talk
with the other members of the staff team in TeamSpeak or Slack. Unfortunately, I was removed
from the staff team for a reason that was unclear to me.
64Bit
64Bit was a smaller server run by my friend. He suggested that I apply on the forums for a staff
position. On the first two applications, I was denied. Finally, on my third application, I was
accepted. Over the span of three to four months, I worked my way up to administrator.
Unfortunately, there was an odd rollback, and I was set back at Moderator due to a glitch. The
owner (my friend) decided to keep it this way for a reason I still do not understand.

Anti Intellectualism By Richard Hofstadter
What is Anti Intellectualism? According to Dictionary.com, Anti Intellectualism is defined as being
hostile toward intellectuals and the modern academic, artistic, social, religious worlds as well as
other theories that are associated with them. Although Richard Hofstadter s Anti Intellectualism in
American Life won the 1964 Pulitzer Prize, it is now almost fifty fives out of date. Not to mention
the ideas within the book are seen as suggesting a type of self defensive justification rather than an
actual deep investigation. Hoftstader used the aftermath of McCarthyism and how there were wide
range witch hunts among the academics and progressives and how that is influenced by the reform,
socialists and communist movements between the World Wars. Applying McCarthyism, Hoftstader
looks at the tension from four different perspectives: religion, politics, business, self help culture,
and education. Taking into consideration the year the book was written, each angle is explored
from the colonial period up until the 1950s. Throughout the introduction, Hofstadter makes it clear
that the purpose of the book is to shed a little light on our cultural problems. Focusing on the social
and political phenomenon of anti intellectualism Hofstadter applies broad abstractions to social
issues. He explains how applications of the abstracts presented by intellectuals can ultimately pose a
threat to the social and political ambitions of certain and specific individuals. Because of this,

J Alfred Prufrock Masculinity
When T.S. Eliot decided to title his poem The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock what was the
purpose? After reading the poem, we are not filled with joy, warmth, and tenderness that a love
song might typically give us what we as readers are expecting upon reading the title. However, in
The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock, Eliot illustrates the toxicity of fragile masculinity. What the
poem tends to actually deal with are the struggles of a man who is emotionally distanced and
grappling with difficulties showing his love for women due to his insecurities and self
consciousness.
Being the earliest of Eliot s works, it may seem as though the speaker of this poem simply cannot
be Eliot for the speaker in the work is an older man, who keeps postponing his female endeavors
as indeed there will be time (23), which is repeated throughout the poem. However, the feelings
described in The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock can be linked to Eliot himself and young men
alike. The reason Eliot may have chosen to title his poem as he did, in a way that contrasts the
content, is that many men encounter these feelings and deal with them in similar ways. Many men
feel that showing love and/or emotions, emotional vulnerability, and sensitivity is a ... Show more

The Segregation Of African American Culture
I feel for the most part the characteristics in this united or consistent with my experience in the
African American culture. Slavery did set us back some years, but I have to say it has made us
stronger. Most of us had to face great obstacles to get in a good place, but no matter what we keep
making it through the adversity. After slavery, we as a culture had to make it through the jim crow
laws. This sparked the civil right movement that gave blacks a voice to speak out against the
injustice that had been quietly dealt with for years. In most of these different processes blacks
had to face a criminal justice system that never seemed to be on their side. Blacks had to literally
practice before the went up to testify in court in the justice system because of the very rigid
injustice presented in courts. Blacks did earn their right to vote in the justice system, and they
did earn their freedom in the justice system, but the justice system was geared for whites and not
blacks, but through actual quoting the actual law, blacks was able to fight for their freedom. The
actual law did protect its people. but it is what people inject into laws the are discriminating.
Later, came the muslim movement that made blacks realise that they control their own destiny.
African Americans has even came up as for in the middle class, but the problem is that it is a big
gap between the low class and the middle. Most Blacks feel they cannot trust the police, and I
believe it is from the past.

Essay On Suicide Among Firefighters
Suicide rates are on the increase among firefighters. In fact, the rates are beginning to catch up
with the rates of law enforcement officers. Some of the same stressors affect both groups and
more corporate culture changes are needed to ensure that the best possible assistance is provided
to first responders who are feeling so stressed that they experience suicidal ideations.Little boys
and girls often dream of becoming firefighters. The Halloween costume with the big red hat has
been a perennial favorite for generations now. Every child loves the red trucks, the sirens, and the
perception that firefighters are heroes as they save lives, help people, and save property. And they

Many scientists believe that the reasons may lie in the combination of the extreme heat and the
physical stress involved.Dr. Helene Wilson of the British Heart Foundation theorizes that the toxins
released during fires and inhaling smoke play contributing roles in firefighter mortality. The
Foundation has commenced a study to determine why heart attacks are so prevalent while fighting
a fire and what measures can be deployed to improve health outcomes for firefighters. Researchers
hope to better understand how fire stresses the body and how to protect the health of firefighters.
Initial research findings indicate that small changes such as drinking water more frequently may
reduce risk.Sadly, all of these stressors and health challenges have led to other negative outcomes,
including an increased rate of suicide among firefighters than experienced in past generations. The
National Firefighters Foundation reports that in any year, a department is four times more likely to
experience the suicide death of a member than a line of duty death.Stress, negative health changes,
the physical rigors of the job, and mental health challenges are taking their toll on our nation s

Examples Of Oppression In V For Vendetta
Rebellion against Oppression in V for Vendetta V for Vendetta depicts the UK as a fascist police
state in the late 2030s. The movie is set post pandemic after most of the world had been torn
apart by the St. Mary s Virus . The Norsefire party lead by High Chancellor Adam Sutler runs the
country. The people are opposed and driven into conformity by fear. Undesirable individuals such
as those who oppose the Norsefireparty, Muslims, and homosexuals, are imprisoned in
concentration camps where they undergo illegal genetic testing. The protagonist is V, a well
spoken, masked vigilante. V is a survivor of genetics testing whose goal is to lead a revolution
against the oppressive High Chancellor within a year. The movie is exhilarating as it... Show more

At first glance, V seems like a typical hero. He s tongue in cheek approach to crime fighting and
his dialogue quickly attracted me. V is shown originating from a concentration camp where his
silhouette steps out of a fire with screaming with burning vengeance. As more details of his past
is revealed, he draws more empathy. He seemed like a typical hero until I realized his campaign
was growing increasingly violent. V s actions grow darker as he continues to slaughter all his
enemies. He doesn t value preservation of life like typical heroes would, he is solely focused on
abolishing the Norsefire Party at all costs. The imprisonment and torture of Eve Hammond
changed my view on V. I saw him as evil. At the conclusion of the film, my view on V was
conflicted. In one aspect he s fighting against injustice but at the same time, he s blowing up
buildings and hacking and slashing everyone. After taking a holistic view, his actions violent but
justified. In this case, I found the ends do justify the means. Even though V s approach is
borderline terroristic, he was able to nullify the Norsefire party, liberate the people of his state and
also rekindle Evey Hammond. V s complexity make him a very interesting character to

The Bad Sides Of Evil In Shakespeare s Hamlet As A Bad Man
Hamlet as a Bad Man The Hamlet is one of the greatest plays by Shakespeare, which provides an
account of an example of the Victorian royal feud. The main character of the play, Hamlet, whose
characters help in providing the directions for the play, depicts different demeanors depending on
how one views him. It is normative for a prince to orchestrate the revenge for the death of his
father, especially if the killer occupies the throne that one is an heir of. The play, therefore, may
help in depicting Hamletas a bad person in different views in terms of the political crisis that his
kingdom was going through.
The Bad Sides of Hamlet The book The Hamlet by Shakespeare provides an account of a political
crisis that enveloped the kingdom of Denmark. King Claudius murdered his brother and married his
wife queen Gertrude because of malice. The king had a beautiful wife, was prosperous and ruled
the kingdom, all to the envy of his brother. Hamlet, the son of the slain king, was an orderly and
well behaved prince as the play begins. He is in love with Ophelia, and befriends many of the
workers in the palace, until his father s ghost appears to him and exposes to him the truth, requiring
him to avenge the death of his father; So art thou to revenge, when thou shalt hear... (Shakespeare).
It is evident that evil resided in the heart of Hamlet all these while, for from the time the ghost
insinuated at exposing to him who killed his father he retorted, Haste me to know, that I,

hopelessness after they have spent hundreds of dollars and their valuable times as well. It is
because the most of the products available in the market just work for time being or no more

on the people around you. Scrooge who was a character in the play, A ChristmasCarol, Scrooge

how he changes to be the good person it changed to be.
In the beginning of the play, A Christmas Carol, Scrooge was grouchey, mean, dark soaled. For

this behavior when talking to the Gentleman Visitor he says, Liberty? No doubt of it? Alright,

centuries, with many countries looking up to it and kneeling before it. Still, the echo of its

There were numerous acts protecting the rights of men but almost none for women. Women were
deprived, neglected and usually considered to be the husband s property . Moreover, when
women s rights were violated there wee no institutions they could turn to for help. Men could get
the divorce when a case of adultery occurred, while women could actually get divorced if husband
s adultery was accompanied by cruelty or abuse. Previously, after the divorce all possessions went
to husbands leaving wives poor and deprived of everything. During the Victorian period some acts
were passed that changed the position of women in the society considerably. From than on, women
were allowed to keep their property. Nevertheless, even though women in the Victorian period didn

Examples Of Racism In America Today
Racism Live!
How could an individual describe racism in America today? One could describe it as systematic.
The process brought on by hundreds of years of oppression because of a superiority complex. It is
the removal of basic rights and enslavement. It is the forced labor of a race to build a country that
would not acknowledge them as people, only property. That was America in its most unethical
form; it is the reason there are still problems today. Without out fully acknowledging the history of

as to try and tell them everything that they need to do. In The Possibility of Evil , Miss Adela
Strangeworth needs to know about everything that is happening in her town, and often interferes
with incriminating information and writes letters about the information, which can cause many
infractions to people s lives directly. In another one of her letters, this time directed to Mrs.

NFL Players Should NOT Blame For Traumatic Brain Injuries
Although there is a growing feud between National Football League (NFL) players, their
families, and the league itself concerning claims that management should be held responsible for
the physical deterioration of former players, others claim that players knew the risks involved
when they decided to play the game, therefore the NFL should not be held accountable for their
injuries. Given the fact that there are not many sports as physically demanding on the human
body as football, NFL players should be allowed to sue the NFL for concussions sustained while
playing football. It would seem that NFL players that are retired should not sue just because they
could have been at risk for head injuries. Instead they should have addressed this while... Show

As a result former football players are experiencing health issues. Sports news headlines have
been abundant with stories concerning former NFL players currently suffering from headaches,
loss of memory, dementia, and early Alzheimer s (Ellenbogen, 2010;Neumann, 2011). Even
though the devastation of concussions is just beginning to rise to the surface, they have always
been around. There appear to be several recent cases involving former and current NFL players
committing suicide that was influenced by some of the suffering due to medical maladies
associated with playing football (Amen, 2011). Many skeptics of football related concussions
have indicated such health issues are coincidental and people commit suicide for different
reasons; or that early Alzheimer s as well as dementia are known to develop with age (Casson,
2010). Recently attention has been given to the fact that there may be a link between various
cases (Nowinski, 2006). Consequently, each of these players associated with these stories all
sustained repeated concussions while playing football. Although several of these concussions were
documented, players were forced to sit out for a few plays; however, others were not documented,

My research travel expedition is too Port St. Joe, Florida. With a budget of five thousand dollars
and fourteen days, I could travel to, and stay in relative comfort and be within easy travel to the

small, long lost village of Iola, located in northern Gulf County Florida. Iola flourished in the late
1830 s, when Florida was a new Colony of the United States. Born out of a business venture from
businessmen form Apalachicola, Florida, where shipping cotton was the major industry.
Apalachicola was a deep water port that accessed the Gulf of Mexico and was a hub to northern
textile mills and many foreign countries. Cotton came down the Apalachicola River on steam ships
and barges from cotton fields in Alabama and Georgia. These businessmen, called Saints as a play
on St Joseph, became disgruntled about a Supreme Court ruling that would force higher taxes on

Research Methodology And The Execution Of Slr
2.Research Method
This section provides an overview research method i.e. systematic literature review (SLR) used in
thesis research; it describes the research methodology, the design and the execution of SLR.
2.1 Overview of Systematic Literature Review
This section of chapter was to thoroughly define and go through systematic literature review
research method.
2.1.1 Definition
Kitchenham and Charters (2007) proposed that systematic literature review has been a widespread
research methodology since 1990s, but it was initiated by medical research where number of well
documented standards has evidently showed its use. While, since the year 2004, systematic reviews
are also performed by many software engineering researchers and number of important engineering
conferences also seek submissions in this research category. In addition to this many popular
journals and magazines have distinct section for papers, which are also based on this research
methodology. (Kitchenham Charters, 2007)
According to Kitchenham,
A systematic literature review (often referred to as a systematic review) is a means of identifying,
evaluating and interpreting all available research relevant to a particular research question, or topic
area, or phenomenon of interest (p.8).
The fundamental study of the systematic literature review is known as primary studies, and the
systematic literature itself is known as a form of secondary study.

Causes of Low Electoral Participation in the United States
In any Democracy, voter turnout is important as a measure of how truly democratic the election
was, the more people that do vote, the more democratic the election. Yet America one of the largest
democratic nations in the world still has a poor turnout.
A survey conducted in 1983 concluded that America was twenty third out of twenty four nations in
respect of its voter turnout, with only Switzerland having a lower turnout, however researchers
believe that the supposed voting age population contains a lot of people not eligible to vote, as
much as 10%.

In America there electoral system resembles a modified version of the British first past the post
system therefore if you live in an electoral college that has voted Democrat time and time again, it
may seem like a wasted vote if you support the Republicans. Also the success polls that are
conducted from the very first primaries and caucuses right up to election day build voter apathy.
Statistically those who do higher in these polls the better they will do in the election, assuming that
people vote without partisan alignment, they aren t going to vote for a candidate who is unlikely to
do well in the election.
The US voting system includes voter registration, controlled at a state level, often it is a
longwinded process, with many forms, and a lot of scrutiny over who gets to register. There are
various restrictions in who can register, often convicted criminals cannot vote, and in some
extremes neither can there families e.g. California in the 2000 election. Rules vary from state to
state, some allow registration 28 days before election time and others allow registration on the day
of the election e.g. Wisconsin. Statistics show that in states where there is election day registration
turnout is ten percentage points higher than in those without. Despite these figures there has sill

Freudian Psychoanalysis As The Forerunner Of All...
Reading response 3
Jones and Butman (2012) view psychoanalysis as the forerunner of all psychotherapeutic methods.
Freudian psychoanalysis theorizes that all human behavior is influenced by early childhood
experiences. Freud argues that human behavior is mostly unconscious and driven by conflicting
desires, feelings, fears, and motives. The goal of psychoanalysis is to resolve intrapsychic conflict
by bringing into conscious awareness the unconscious desires and motives of an individual.
Through free association, the unconscious is made conscious, and unresolved conflict or anxiety is
resolved. Psychoanalysis also seeks to challenge self defeating coping methods or defense
mechanisms and aims to replace the negative coping methods with more effective coping
mechanism (Jones Butman, 2012) Freud s model of personality posits that:
1.There are three levels of consciousness: the conscious experiences, the preconscious experiences,
and unconscious experiences, however, all behavior is determined by unconscious experiences.
2.Human Behavior is determined by past unresolved events from childhood.
3.Human behavior is determined by the interaction of sexual and aggressive drives.
4.Personality is structured in terms the id, ego and superego. The id is pleasure driven, and seeks
to satisfy its needs. The ego is reality based and fulfills the wishes and demands of the id in the
outside world. The superego, a split off from the ego, characterizes internalized values and moral

Characteristics Of Queen Hatshepsut
Ancient Egypt s history is full of stories that tell about the many powerful leaders. Two such
leaders are particularly noteworthy for their contribution to Egypt s success. First, we have Queen
Hatshepsut, who was a pharaoh for twenty two years. She was the first woman to hold the title of
Pharaoh in Egypt. Ramses II was also a successful leader. He reigned for 60+ years with many
accomplishments. This essay will attempt to determine who the better Pharaohwas. To do so I
looked at factors such as their leadership, problem solving skills, and legacy. I have concluded that
Hatshepsutwas the better Pharaoh.
Queen Hatshepsut demonstrated great leadership during her reign. She was confident, utilized her
strengths, and motivated others that came after her. These qualities drove her to success and her
accomplishments are all proof. Hatshepsut exceeded people s expectations of women in power.
She proved her dedication to the throne by dressing as a male. Dressing as a male illustrated her
confidence and showed the effect she had on society.
Hatshepsut built the wealth of the eighteenth dynasty by developing trade connections. Not only
that but she expanded Egypt s borders through the use of military campaigns. additionally, she
undertook ambitious building projects and restored old temples. She did this all while avoiding war
when she could. Hatshepsut focused on trade and economic. This is in comparison to Ramses who
concentrated on expanding Egypt through warfare. Thus,

that buying factory raised meat and eating it can be morally compared to obtaining puppies and

eaters that come to this realization should turn vegetarian. According to people who disagree with
Norcross, they argue the fact that factory farmed animals are not puppies, most consumers do not
torture or kill the factory farmed meat, and becoming vegetarian will not really make an impact
and prevent animal suffering. If majority of the US population switched their diet to become

Effective Advocates For Small Business Utilization Essay
To be effective advocates for small business utilization in DoD acquisitions, Small Business
Professionals (SBPs) need to participate early in the acquisition process and throughout it, and
become trusted members of the team. To accomplish this, SBPs must be knowledgeable of pre and
post award support they can provide to the acquisition team, as well as how small businesses can
help DoD meet its procurement requirements. SBPs have the greatest influence during the pre
solicitation phase of the process. The social initiative is to be recognized as trusted advisors where
they understand the customer s requirements and are knowledgeable of small businessprograms. As
an acquisition sustainability strategy determines, SBPs should provide information on small
businesses and how they might meet the requirements. Reciprocity relates to the idea that
people like to return favors and pay back debts, which can lead to feeling obliged to repay an
offer in some way to address discomfort with feeling indebted to someone else. Commitment is
associated with the desire to follow through on something we ve expressed interest in previously.
Social proof is linked to the idea that if others are doing something we re more likely to do it as
well, particularly when feeling uncertain. Liking suggests that people are more likely to be
influenced by people they like, which can come from similarity, trust, and familiarity. Authority is
associated with credibility; people are more likely to

Pit And The Pendulum Irony
The Pit and the Pendulum The Pit and the Pendulum , is a short story written by Edgar Allan Poe
in 1842, describing a person in the most dire of situations, awaiting death in a pit. The story is set
during the time of the Spanish Inquisition, where the narrator has been sentenced to live in a pit
and await death. During this time he continually wonders what will happen to him, until looking
up, awaking from a drug induced sleep, he sees a swinging scythe, positioned directly over his
heart, dropping at a crawling rate. The narrator barely escapes the pendulum, then runs and almost
falls into the pit, before being saved by a French General. Although there are both instances of
physical and psychological torture in the story, the psychological... Show more content on

I gasped and struggled at each vibration. I shrunk convulsively at its every sweep. My eyes
followed its outward or upward whirls with the eagerness of the most unmeaning despair; they
closed themselves spasmodically at the descent, although death would have been a relief, oh!
how unspeakable! (Poe 27). All the narrator can do is wait for his death, and his wait allowed
him time to think. His thoughts wandered, beginning to lean on the possibility of escape, and
that frustrated him because he knew hope was lost. Hope was lost, until a last resort plan arrived
in his thoughts; to coat the rope in food so the rats would chew through it, and allow him time to
escape from the swinging scythe of death. His plan prevailed, and he escaped, only to be
confronted by the pit again, by the quickly enclosing room, but this time the narrator was saved by
the French General Lasalle. His torture was over, just as the inquisition was over. Throughout the
Pit and the Pendulum, Poe uses various symbols of psychological torture to create fear and
hopelessness in the narrator, which is achieved through two main symbols of the pit and the

Update the Recurring Sin Tax Law that Was Newly...
Rationale of the Study This study was drawn to update the recurring sin tax law that was newly
implemented by the President of the Philippines, Benigno Aquino by assessing its effect to the
consumers of sin products and has given fruitful grounds and suggestions for future research in this
field.
In belief, the purpose of the imposition of excise tax on sin products is to raise revenues and
discouraging the consumption of the tobacco products and alcoholic beverages. It is claimed that
higher excise taxes on tobacco will make some smokers to quit, and reduce consumption of
continuing smokers, and prevent others from starting (Sunley, 2009). Because the demand for
cigarettes is relatively price inelastic, the expectation is that higher taxes will yield higher
revenues in the near term while preventing smoking in the longer term. If a tax is imposed on a
good, verbally express excise taxes on alcohol or tobacco, it may possibly have influenced the
decision of how many to consume and make efficiency cost (Badenes PlГЎ Jones, 2003). In
contrast, according to McGee (2000), liquor and cigarettes are had insensitive to changes of price
that many of the consumers of sin products continue to buy it regardless of the increase in its
prices. Then, it becomes usual that there will be a protest on excise tax for the reason that this sin
tax law will not cause a reduction to their demand in sin products. In worldwide tax rates,
Philippines obtain the lowest rate specifically on

The Breakfast Club Analysis
Don t Skip Breakfast!
The Breakfast Club is a timeless movie centered around the very relevant concept of discovering
your identity and breaking away from stereotypes. It is about a group of 5 defiant high school
students who are all forced to spend their Saturday in detention. The five main characters include
Claire (Molly Ringwald) the princess, Brian (Anthony Michael Hall) the brain, Andrew (Emilio
Estevez) the jock, Allison (Ally Sheedy) the weirdo, and John Bender (Judd Nelson) the criminal.
These students have very different personalities and very little in common or so they think. The
five are stuck together under the oppressive authority of Richard Vernon (Paul Gleason) the
Principal, who served as a common enemy for the students. Their sole task for that Saturday was
to write an essay describing who they are, a question that remained pondered for the duration of
the film as The Breakfast Club is an iconic story of self discovery.
WHAT WORKED The Breakfast Club did an excellent job of capturing the strife of students as
they try and find themselves through their adolescent years. They have all been cast a different
stereotype and at the beginning of the movie it is clear that all of the characters have a fairly
decent idea of who they think everyone is. Every viewer can relate to at least one of the various
stereotypes, and I think your overall enjoyment of the movie will depend on how easily you can
identify with one of the characters. Their stereotypes are

While Holden wants to preserve his innocence by not thinking about sex at all, he agrees that he
is a sex maniac (Salinger 81), and is a fiend about losing his virginity. Holden even goes as far as
to make rules for himself. On page 82, he recounts, I made a rule that I was going to quit horsing

made it the same night, as a matter of fact (Salinger). He is slowly losing his innocence, and
while he hates to admit it, Holden s constant thoughts about sexuality is a sign of adulthood. To
him, one should only have sex with someone they truly love. Holden is almost proud of himself
for having such a morally correct view of sex. This is why he is so riled when he discovers that
Stradlater had sex with Jane Gallagher. Holden realized that Jane barely knew Stradlater and felt
that he, if anyone, should be dating Jane. His increasing thoughts on sexuality and loss of a
conventional or shielded view of sex show that his loss of innocence is apparent. Holden also loses

brought up by law for bringing the people in society to justice. Criminal Justice is all about bringing
the criminal up and conducting what must be done to uphold justice to the people. Criminal Justice
is distinct from criminal law, which I believe defines the specific behaviors that are forbidden by

When you think about police officer what do you know about them, are they law enforcement

are in charge of enforcing laws within their city. If you go to a neighboring city, say like
Chicago, that city has its own police force. Police officers are often charged with the criminals
and detection of crime, protection and assistance of the public. Police officers are normally
sworn with an oath, and have the power to arrest people and detain them for a limited time,

  • 6. Anti Intellectualism By Richard Hofstadter What is Anti Intellectualism? According to Dictionary.com, Anti Intellectualism is defined as being hostile toward intellectuals and the modern academic, artistic, social, religious worlds as well as other theories that are associated with them. Although Richard Hofstadter s Anti Intellectualism in American Life won the 1964 Pulitzer Prize, it is now almost fifty fives out of date. Not to mention the ideas within the book are seen as suggesting a type of self defensive justification rather than an actual deep investigation. Hoftstader used the aftermath of McCarthyism and how there were wide range witch hunts among the academics and progressives and how that is influenced by the reform, socialists and communist movements between the World Wars. Applying McCarthyism, Hoftstader looks at the tension from four different perspectives: religion, politics, business, self help culture, and education. Taking into consideration the year the book was written, each angle is explored from the colonial period up until the 1950s. Throughout the introduction, Hofstadter makes it clear that the purpose of the book is to shed a little light on our cultural problems. Focusing on the social and political phenomenon of anti intellectualism Hofstadter applies broad abstractions to social issues. He explains how applications of the abstracts presented by intellectuals can ultimately pose a threat to the social and political ambitions of certain and specific individuals. Because of this, ... • 7. J Alfred Prufrock Masculinity When T.S. Eliot decided to title his poem The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock what was the purpose? After reading the poem, we are not filled with joy, warmth, and tenderness that a love song might typically give us what we as readers are expecting upon reading the title. However, in The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock, Eliot illustrates the toxicity of fragile masculinity. What the poem tends to actually deal with are the struggles of a man who is emotionally distanced and grappling with difficulties showing his love for women due to his insecurities and self consciousness. Being the earliest of Eliot s works, it may seem as though the speaker of this poem simply cannot be Eliot for the speaker in the work is an older man, who keeps postponing his female endeavors as indeed there will be time (23), which is repeated throughout the poem. However, the feelings described in The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock can be linked to Eliot himself and young men alike. The reason Eliot may have chosen to title his poem as he did, in a way that contrasts the content, is that many men encounter these feelings and deal with them in similar ways. Many men feel that showing love and/or emotions, emotional vulnerability, and sensitivity is a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 8. The Segregation Of African American Culture I feel for the most part the characteristics in this united or consistent with my experience in the African American culture. Slavery did set us back some years, but I have to say it has made us stronger. Most of us had to face great obstacles to get in a good place, but no matter what we keep making it through the adversity. After slavery, we as a culture had to make it through the jim crow laws. This sparked the civil right movement that gave blacks a voice to speak out against the injustice that had been quietly dealt with for years. In most of these different processes blacks had to face a criminal justice system that never seemed to be on their side. Blacks had to literally practice before the went up to testify in court in the justice system because of the very rigid injustice presented in courts. Blacks did earn their right to vote in the justice system, and they did earn their freedom in the justice system, but the justice system was geared for whites and not blacks, but through actual quoting the actual law, blacks was able to fight for their freedom. The actual law did protect its people. but it is what people inject into laws the are discriminating. Later, came the muslim movement that made blacks realise that they control their own destiny. African Americans has even came up as for in the middle class, but the problem is that it is a big gap between the low class and the middle. Most Blacks feel they cannot trust the police, and I believe it is from the past. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Many scientists believe that the reasons may lie in the combination of the extreme heat and the physical stress involved.Dr. Helene Wilson of the British Heart Foundation theorizes that the toxins released during fires and inhaling smoke play contributing roles in firefighter mortality. The Foundation has commenced a study to determine why heart attacks are so prevalent while fighting a fire and what measures can be deployed to improve health outcomes for firefighters. Researchers hope to better understand how fire stresses the body and how to protect the health of firefighters. Initial research findings indicate that small changes such as drinking water more frequently may reduce risk.Sadly, all of these stressors and health challenges have led to other negative outcomes, including an increased rate of suicide among firefighters than experienced in past generations. The National Firefighters Foundation reports that in any year, a department is four times more likely to experience the suicide death of a member than a line of duty death.Stress, negative health changes, the physical rigors of the job, and mental health challenges are taking their toll on our nation s bravest. The brotherhood (and sisterhood) of firefighting is unique, with a strength that is often not available in many other ... The movie is set post pandemic after most of the world had been torn apart by the St. Mary s Virus . The Norsefire party lead by High Chancellor Adam Sutler runs the country. The people are opposed and driven into conformity by fear. Undesirable individuals such as those who oppose the Norsefireparty, Muslims, and homosexuals, are imprisoned in concentration camps where they undergo illegal genetic testing. He s tongue in cheek approach to crime fighting and his dialogue quickly attracted me. V is shown originating from a concentration camp where his silhouette steps out of a fire with screaming with burning vengeance. As more details of his past is revealed, he draws more empathy. He seemed like a typical hero until I realized his campaign was growing increasingly violent. V s actions grow darker as he continues to slaughter all his enemies. He doesn t value preservation of life like typical heroes would, he is solely focused on abolishing the Norsefire Party at all costs. The imprisonment and torture of Eve Hammond changed my view on V. I saw him as evil. At the conclusion of the film, my view on V was conflicted. In one aspect he s fighting against injustice but at the same time, he s blowing up buildings and hacking and slashing everyone. After taking a holistic view, his actions violent but justified. In this case, I found the ends do justify the means. Even though V s approach is borderline terroristic, he was able to nullify the Norsefire party, liberate the people of his state and also rekindle Evey Hammond. • 11. The Bad Sides Of Evil In Shakespeare s Hamlet As A Bad Man Hamlet as a Bad Man The Hamlet is one of the greatest plays by Shakespeare, which provides an account of an example of the Victorian royal feud. The main character of the play, Hamlet, whose characters help in providing the directions for the play, depicts different demeanors depending on how one views him. It is normative for a prince to orchestrate the revenge for the death of his father, especially if the killer occupies the throne that one is an heir of. The play, therefore, may help in depicting Hamletas a bad person in different views in terms of the political crisis that his kingdom was going through. The Bad Sides of Hamlet The book The Hamlet by Shakespeare provides an account of a political crisis that enveloped the kingdom of Denmark. King Claudius murdered his brother and married his wife queen Gertrude because of malice. The king had a beautiful wife, was prosperous and ruled the kingdom, all to the envy of his brother. Hamlet, the son of the slain king, was an orderly and well behaved prince as the play begins. He is in love with Ophelia, and befriends many of the workers in the palace, until his father s ghost appears to him and exposes to him the truth, requiring him to avenge the death of his father; So art thou to revenge, when thou shalt hear... Freudian psychoanalysis theorizes that all human behavior is influenced by early childhood experiences. Freud argues that human behavior is mostly unconscious and driven by conflicting desires, feelings, fears, and motives. The goal of psychoanalysis is to resolve intrapsychic conflict by bringing into conscious awareness the unconscious desires and motives of an individual. Through free association, the unconscious is made conscious, and unresolved conflict or anxiety is resolved. Psychoanalysis also seeks to challenge self defeating coping methods or defense mechanisms and aims to replace the negative coping methods with more effective coping mechanism (Jones Butman, 2012) Freud s model of personality posits that: 1.There are three levels of consciousness: the conscious experiences, the preconscious experiences, and unconscious experiences, however, all behavior is determined by unconscious experiences. 2.Human Behavior is determined by past unresolved events from childhood. 3.Human behavior is determined by the interaction of sexual and aggressive drives. 4.Personality is structured in terms the id, ego and superego. She was the first woman to hold the title of Pharaoh in Egypt. Ramses II was also a successful leader. He reigned for 60+ years with many accomplishments. This essay will attempt to determine who the better Pharaohwas. To do so I looked at factors such as their leadership, problem solving skills, and legacy. I have concluded that Hatshepsutwas the better Pharaoh. Queen Hatshepsut demonstrated great leadership during her reign. She was confident, utilized her strengths, and motivated others that came after her. These qualities drove her to success and her accomplishments are all proof. Hatshepsut exceeded people s expectations of women in power. She proved her dedication to the throne by dressing as a male. Dressing as a male illustrated her confidence and showed the effect she had on society. Hatshepsut built the wealth of the eighteenth dynasty by developing trade connections. Not only that but she expanded Egypt s borders through the use of military campaigns. additionally, she undertook ambitious building projects and restored old temples. Rationale of the Study This study was drawn to update the recurring sin tax law that was newly implemented by the President of the Philippines, Benigno Aquino by assessing its effect to the consumers of sin products and has given fruitful grounds and suggestions for future research in this field. In belief, the purpose of the imposition of excise tax on sin products is to raise revenues and discouraging the consumption of the tobacco products and alcoholic beverages. It is claimed that higher excise taxes on tobacco will make some smokers to quit, and reduce consumption of continuing smokers, and prevent others from starting (Sunley, 2009). Anglo American common law has punished or disapproved of assisting suicide for seven centuries and rendering such assistance is a crime in almost every state; such prohibitions have never contained exceptions for those who were near death; the prohibitions in recent years were reexamined and, for the most part reaffirmed in a number of states; and the President signed the Federal Assisted Suicide Funding Restriction Act of 1997, which prohibits the use of federal funds in support of physician assisted suicide. • 37. Should Execptionally Talented Young Athletes Be Allowed to... SHOULD EXECPTIONALLY TALENTED YOUNG ATHLETES BE ALLOWED TO PLAY PROFESSIONAL SPORTS WHEN THEY ARE STILL IN THEIR EARLY TEENS EVEN IF THEY HAVE TO MOVE AWAY FROM HOME AND LEAVE SCHOOL? Many believe that all of the hard work starts early. Like the saying says he early bird gets the worm. But is that all that sport is really about? I use to think that the answer to that question was yes! I feel that there are more disadvantages to sport specialization than there are advantages. Do you realize that sports affect us all in one way or another Whether or not you like sports has nothing to do with the whether or not it affects you. I feel that is good for kid s to be involved in sports but sometimes parents push kid s to participate. Between practice, games and travel time, there is not much free time for family time, play time or study time. They need time to play with friends and develop social skills outside of organized sports. Do not turn them into a workhorse. Realize that you cannot live your dreams through your child, and that they have dreams of their own. A parent should help a child set performance goals and develop a winning perspective and strive to instill a healthy level of competition. If kids don t try other sports, how do they know whether or not they might like those sports more or be better at them? For many athletes their bodies are not completely developed. By playing at the speed of the higher conditioned and developed players in the professional league, young underdeveloped athletes run the risk of suffering an early career ending injury. These opportunities, though, come at a cost. While young athletes are participating in intensive sporting education, their academic education may be neglected. Age effects take a greater approach to the physical side of the sports people body, as the older the sports person is, the more mature and developed their body is and the younger the person is the less developed they are. However, we will focus on how it affects the Alberta Government; specifically, Ed Stlemech of the Conservative Government. As my stake holder, Ed Stlemech does not live within the Alberta Oil Sandsarea as well as have any direct relevance to it, I will instead examine how it has affects the citizens of Albertaand more importantly, those who live in and near the Fort Chipewyan area. In this way, the environmental, the economical as well as the societal impacts will impact Albertan voters and therefore impact the Conservative Government in way of the Alberta General Election. To elaborate, Alberta s upstream energy sector, which mainly includes the oil sands, conventional oil as well as gas and mining has provided 133,053 jobs for Alberta residents, according to Statistics Canada. As well, having the third largest oil reserves in the world, Canada is able to use the oil reserves as a trading asset, as it is currently providing 1.4 million barrels of oil to the USA everyday, which is equivalent to $49.7 million at current stock prices. As well, $52 billion dollars in royalty were accounted for during 2013 14. In this way, the oil sands industry provides jobs, billions of dollars in royalties and boosts national income and prosperity through the trading of this resource. • 39. Loss Of Innocence In Catcher In The Rye Justin Hwang Ms. Lydia Wells English 9 10/24/17 Loneliness and Phoniness: Loss of Innocence in Salinger s Catcher in the Rye Loss of innocence is one of the major elements of The Catcher in the Rye that make the novel so renowned. The Catcher in the Rye by J.D. Salinger is about an adolescent named Holden who wanders around New York City after being kicked out of a prestigious boarding school in eastern Pennsylvania. While learning more about himself and the adult world, he experiences alcohol, prostitution, and sexuality. Holden struggles with issues such as identity and maturity. Eventually, he realizes what it means to become an adult and accepts that maturity and development is inevitable. Holden suffers from a loss of innocence when... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, he admits that while the couple s actions are crumby (Salinger 81) and crude, he is still aroused and wouldn t mind (Salinger 81) doing it, especially to a girl he is attracted to. While Holden wants to preserve his innocence by not thinking about sex at all, he agrees that he is a sex maniac (Salinger 81), and is a fiend about losing his virginity. Holden even goes as far as to make rules for himself. On page 82, he recounts, I made a rule that I was going to quit horsing around with girls that, deep down, gave me a pain in the ass. I broke it, though, the same week I made it the same night, as a matter of fact (Salinger). He is slowly losing his innocence, and while he hates to admit it, Holden s constant thoughts about sexuality is a sign of adulthood. To him, one should only have sex with someone they truly love. Holden is almost proud of himself for having such a morally correct view of sex. This is why he is so riled when he discovers that Stradlater had sex with Jane Gallagher. Holden realized that Jane barely knew Stradlater and felt that he, if anyone, should be dating Jane. His increasing thoughts on sexuality and loss of a conventional or shielded view of sex show that his loss of innocence is apparent. Holden also loses his innocence when he accepts the inevitability of growing up. When he visits the Natural History Museum, Holden notes that the exhibits ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 40. Smart Technology And Student Learning 11. I used many different resources, including technology, to enhance student learning. This was done through Smart technology allowing my students to go on a virtual fieldtrip. They were able to learn more about the three environments and the types of animals that live in those environments. 12. During this lesson today, my students exhibited behaviors that showed me they were engaged. They listened to the expectations well and did exactly what I requested of them to do. They were actively listening and participating during the station time. 13.I was able to see that the students were focusing, responding, asking questions, volunteering, etc. throughout the lesson. I also gave formative assessments throughout the lesson as well as a final assessment. One example of a student s response would be when my students were participating in small group discussions with peers. I went to the station this student was at and asked the student how they knew what animals belonged in the desert environment. This student was able to articulate a response to me which demonstrated learning. Additionally, I did interviews with the students as a formative assessment. The final assessment took place when the students participated in the SmartBoard matching activity at the end of the lesson. 14. There were different ways I planned and managed my time and routines such as transitions and pacing so that instructional time was maximized. First of all, my class is familiar with transitioning ... Criminal Justice in my substantial belief is all about a system that s brought up by law for bringing the people in society to justice. Criminal Justice is all about bringing the criminal up and conducting what must be done to uphold justice to the people. Criminal Justice is distinct from criminal law, which I believe defines the specific behaviors that are forbidden by and punishable under law. Criminal Justice begins when a crimeis reported to the policeor when a police officer discovers that a crime has been committed. Criminal Justice also has to do with the control of criminal behavior. Well if you ask me, I believe, in my opinion that a police officer is a person that focuses on protecting the people and bring forth criminals that break the law. Police officers are in charge of enforcing laws within their city. If you go to a neighboring city, say like Chicago, that city has its own police force. Police officers are often charged with the criminals and detection of crime, protection and assistance of the public. Police officers are normally sworn with an oath, and have the power to arrest people and detain them for a limited time, along with other duties and powers. Some police officers may have special duties, for example, such as law enforcement. The reason why they play apart in law enforcement is because police officers are those who are empowered by the government to enforce the laws. Police officers play a certain central role in the law enforcement system, like monitoring criminal activity. Police officers when they first get their job they have one job that they have to do every day, which is to serve and protect the citizens of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
