prepared reports for our client BASF. The objectives of the service carried out on the accessible furnace
tubes in the H-1201 reformer for BASF Petronas Chemicals Sdn Bhd at Kuantan is:
• To compare GC pyrometer readings to the plant IR pyrometer and new purchase thermal
imaging equipment, hence to use the GC pyrometer reading to calibrate both instruments
or as a benchmark for future reference.
• To detect actual tubes wall temperature as confirmation that plant is operating within the tube
• Design temperature after catalysts and new tubes change out to different materials (micro alloy).
This is critical due to current plant load had been increased to 105%
• The temperatures of the tubes were measured via the lower and top elevation peepholes.
• Numbers of tubes measured depended on site and peep hole accessibility. However, only
• Selected tubes had been measured at the top elevation due to the direct flames from the burners
at the top elevation. This will restrict and alter accuracy of IR pyrometer reading. Hence all this
values measured by gold cup are to act as reference to ensure low tube wall temperature
for the top part of reformer tubes.
• Responsible for invoicing our client BASF
• Responsible for receiving payment from our client BASF
• Responsible for releasing payment to our principal’s & sub-contractor
